For several years Ichigo and Uryuu were in a sense classmates, they often did not agree automatically with each other, but they did realize that they brought up interesting points that they would have not considered. They made several friends, Yoruichi they met as a talking cat, that sounded more masculine than some people were brave enough to admit, but her propensity to actually take her human form, the very first time as naked as the day she was born, was quite embarrassing to girls, and problematic for the boys.
Damn hormones, it did not help that in her human form the lady was quite the natural beauty, even if her personality at times could only be described as a bit twisted, she was the unofficial instructor of these friends, many of them having special abilities and skills, that they had no clue how to use effectively, Yoruichi was effective in her instruction, if a little more like an army drill instructor some times. She prioritized efficiency rather than softening the blow of her lessons, blunt may have been commented on when they thought she could not hear
They went through adventures through several of the most both amazing and horrible places a person would ever know, from the outskirts of soul society, where people live just with barely the basics, to the harsh lands of Hueco Mundo, the land where all the hollows called home, they even had to go down into Hell, several times. The missions at the time felt like they were of vast importance, and that failure could lead to the destruction and death of everything and everyone they held dear.
From the mission to rescue Rukia, from being executed for something she did nothing to deserve, to the rescue of Orihime in Hueco Mundo, battles got tougher and tougher as time went by and the more this constant rise in danger forced them to constantly attempt to improve and become stronger, because failure was not an option anyone could live with. Through many of the arcs, the main antagonist was a man by the name of Aizen, the guy wanted to do something akin to becoming a god, specifically, he wanted to take over the throne of the spirit world and become the new Soul King.
Ichigo it seems to Aizen and some others was, in fact, an unintentional result of one of his oldest experiments, the mixture of different sorts of species in the universe, in his birth or how it was planned, Ichigo had abilities and traits from every single species that ever had existed, it was a running joke among his friends, to call him master of all traits, cause if there was a power out somewhere Ichigo more than likely could either learn to use it or already was without even knowing about it.
Ichigo was born from what some would consider an unholy union, a Soul Reaper captain, fell madly in love with a beautiful Quincy, that is why Uryuu and Ichigo often argued and often worked together so well, they could in fact understand each other, but the fact is they argued because without them knowing it, they knew they were cousins. Ichigo's mother is the Aunt of Uryuu, and Uryuu's father is the uncle of Ichigo. Much like most would expect, upon learning this, this made people realize that their arguments made perfect sense, they were family, and family often argue.
During their last battle, however, Ichigo had to do something that could be seen almost like a sacrifice, he had to use every one of his Soul Reaper powers, the battle was horrible, and caused destruction on such a vast scale it could be considered war crimes, Aizen used his Espada with brutal efficiency, and little regard to what they wanted, treating them more like disposable minions rather than people. The Espada were once hollowed, some very high ranking ones, that thanks to an item, were made to awaken Soul Reaper powers, sadly Ichigo was the person used as a test subject, since Ichigo was a Soul Reaper with Hollow powers, people who were called the Vizard.
During the last battle for once Ichigo stopped holding back, and used the final attack he learned from the spirit that resides within him, a version of the Quincy King, and his true sword spirit, that of a hollow that had once bitten his mother. They merged and in doing so, unleashed their full power for this one lesson, initially Ichigo thought that he needed to defeat his sword spirit, Zangetsu, but the sad thing is he did not need to defeat him at all, all he needed was to accept the sword of Zangetsu. When this happened the ever-stoic instructor and guide broke down in tears as he plunged the sword into Ichigo while being in his mind.
"Ichigo, you always fight to protect and save the world, but if you asked me, the one person I wanted to save and protect, it was always you." The final attack used every bit of his power and would cause him to lose all his Hollow and Soul Reaper powers, or so they thought. After a long battle, and masterful use of seals and Kido Spells, spells used by Soul Reapers, by the hand of the man who they never expected, a man that Ichigo called Clog and Hat, the former head of the Gotei's Research division, and thanks to Ichigo fighting all out, it kept Aizen distracted long enough for this exiled scientists, to finally trap Aizen and defeating him once and for all. Ichigo felt that from that moment on, he was an ordinary human, still living at the Kurosaki clinic, wondering what he would do with his life, or at least he should.
At the age of Eight years old Either by providence or accident, Ichigo and Uryuu suddenly felt a surge of power inside them, and the lock on their memories came crashing down, most people had no clue that these two had awakened in ways that most would find terrifying. Years have passed and they have done many things including saving people and creatures adding quite a bit to their harem and After Ichigo had saved Sora Inoue the brother of Orihime, Orihime who completely fell in love with him at this point became the head of his Harem essentially making her the wife of Ichigo, and due to the meeting with a particularly demented Soul Reaper scientist, who just wanted to use Uryuu as a test lab rat, or material, he met with a young woman, who was born as an experimental homunculus, Nemu, and much to her surprise, she fell in love with Uryuu, her creator or some would say father was ecstatic the very notion of his creation one day having a child with a Quincy was truly an exciting notion.
Most to the man's shock and horror, Nemu decided to move permanently with Uryuu, some joked that they were shacking up, but in her opinion that is where a wife should be, by her husband's side, to help him and to keep him from doing something absolutely either ridiculous or potentially reckless. Uryuu continued to train under his father, learning many of his father's medical techniques, but sadly so did Ichigo, since the Kurosaki's main source of income was a small clinic where they provided emergency care for people in need. Ichigo has passion, but Uryuu has a cold demeanor and skills he honed, from the most unlikely places, for instance he was a member of the sewing club, in school, most people would consider that club mainly for girls, but to Uryuu it actually helped him perfect his skill at closing wounds.
Ichigo also had something nobody expected, he was secretly a prodigy at cooking, again another skill that was more expected for a girl, but his culinary talents could not be ignored or underestimated. "Hey Ichi, if you never get your powers back, you know you could make a pretty decent living as a restaurant owner." Ichigo glared at Uryuu and said that if his medical skills suck, Uryuu could make a pretty decent living as a seamstress, Uryuu preferred to call it being a tailor. Ichigo only commented, potato, potatoe.
Masaki Kurosaki and Kanae Katagiri are deeply devoted to their sons and made the decision to enroll them in a new school after receiving a call from an old friend who happened to be the dean of the Academy. Both parents agreed to the favor and now Ichigo and Uryuu find themselves at the bus station, sending their sons off to this new educational institution. Ichigo suspects that there may be hidden intentions behind this sudden change, but he can't quite pinpoint what they might be. As he waits at the bus station with his cousin, the mystery deepens.
As they waited for the bus to come to pick them up, they both sat down at the bus stop as they waited, they saw many girls walk back home from school and they both wondered why the hell those uniforms had such short skirts, Uryuu considered those designs to be absolutely scandalous. Ichigo also wondered how the hell they ride bicycles, cause if they lift their legs a little bit, they would be flashing their panties to anyone who saw them ride a bike.
They did not notice that a girl was sitting right between them, "Actually it does not matter what they were, those girls are not going to let anyone take advantage of them, the thing I wonder is how the hell my father got me enrolled in a school I never even heard of." Uryuu told her that more than likely the principal of that school did her father a favor, or he planned to have her enroll in that school from the very beginning. Either way, she would find out the truth behind her enrollment one day.
"The problem is I don't know what that school is, I mean it has a joke name, Yokai Academy, seriously Yokai? What the hell does that tell anyone." Ichigo could not help but laugh remembering the game Yokai Watch, and even the anime about the same game. He looked at her and saw that she was honestly worried about what sort of place that school was, so he decided to ease her concerns even a little. "Yokai Academy is a school made by monsters, taught by monsters, and for the benefit of monsters. Some rules must be obeyed in that school and one is to always appear in their human form. Every person in that school is a monster, every single member of the faculty or staff are monsters. The purpose of that school is to teach monsters to be able to co-exist with humans. The principal is an exorcist, and he is one of the dark lords that rule over the world. Aside from this dire information, you can in fact make life-long friends in that place, learn everything you would learn at a typical high school, and have a lot of fun attending that school, the students that go there, are given their own private room at the school dorms. So there is not much for you to worry about."
Uryuu decided to go one further, "I am what people call a Quincy, we can make a bow that can destroy dangerous creatures we call Hollows, Ichigo here is a Soul Reaper, who does the same except I use a bow, he uses a sword. You will find that everyone in that school has special abilities and talents, but another part of the rules is that while on the school grounds, you can never take your real form or reveal to others your monster species. Monsters fight for dominance, and should one monster reveal that they are from a more powerful monster species, that is something that will without a doubt inspire a fight."
Ichigo looked at her and began to smile, "We can tell a lot of things about people, just from how they feel, and we can tell you are not entirely human, we can sense magical energy from you, you must be the daughter of a witch or a wizard." She looked confused and she said that was not possible, her father was an accountant, and her mother was a housewife, if one of them could use magic why would they not do so to solve all their problems. Uryuu responded that most of the time people who can use magic keep it secret, either to not draw the attention of others or due to persecution that magic users often endure. There have been many eras in history where things like the witch hunts have occurred out of either envy or ignorance, but it would do her well to ask her parents which one of them can use magic because that parent will be able to teach her things that she might later find useful.
"I know the feeling well, my people the Quincy kept quiet about our training and teaching of our skills, we only taught each other and usually by family members, my grandfather taught me, as he taught my father before me. so if your parents are anything like mine, they will teach you once they know, that you are aware of what makes you different from the people around you." Uryuu extended his hand and immediately ribbons began to appear around them, they were blue, some were red, and some were gray.
"These are life ribbons, by using a family skill, I can make them manifest, this blue one is me, the red one is Ichigo, and the yellow one is you, the color yellow shows that you have magic in you, and a substantial amount is given how strong the color is." She had a few questions about magic, about what Ichigo and they were, as she introduced herself as Tsuki Aono. As they talked time went by until they saw a large yellow school bus come towards the bus stop, the door creaked open and the voice of a man asked if they were all students headed for Yokai Academy, Tsuki immediately jumped up and said yes they were, they were waiting for the bus to take them to the academy. She seemed nervous for some strange reason.
"You don't need to worry little lady, I am one of the bus drivers for the Academy, you and your friends should come on the bus, and pick a comfortable seat, it will take us some time to get there, might as well get started." Tsuki, Ichigo, and Uryuu sat down together, and they were quite shocked to find that the padding on these seats was rather comfortable, they were expecting them to be the typical hard rubber surfaces that were expected in most public school busses. Uryuu was not going to simply waste his opportunity and he decided to ask the driver about the school, which for some reason the driver found rather amusing, "So you want to know about Yokai Academy, that is expected, but most people would be too scared to ask, I happen to know that the school can be quite intimidating to new students, it is a boarding school, so you three will more than likely be assigned rooms at one of the two dorms, there is a dorm for male and another for female students. The first thing you will find strange is that once you are on the academy grounds, your cell phones will have no signal, no cell phone signals can enter the academy."
Tsuki immediately asked if they wanted to talk to her parents about what should she do, the driver laughed and said that there was a landline phone that is in the school cafeteria, but it was a pay phone, so she might want to be careful about how she spends her allowance each month if she plans to actually call anyone using the cafeteria phone. "Academic excellence is rewarded, the ranking of a student in each year determines the benefits and privileges a student will receive that year, if a student is say an honor roll student, he or she will get a much bigger allowance and the items they can order from the cafeteria will be much bigger than an ordinary student. Yokai Academy rewards students who put in the effort you see."
Ichigo joked that maybe if a student failed to pass a grade three times, they would get expelled from the academy then, which made the bus driver happy to see that at least one of them managed to figure this out on their own. "You can be sure of one thing, the teachers usually are fair, but demanding, but if you think someone is being unfair, or that you want someone to review your last test score, you can always ask the principal. Like I said Yokai Academy is anything if not fair."
Uryuu had another question for him, if they can only use the pay phone in the cafeteria, how can they keep in touch with their folk regularly, is not like they can take the bus back to meet with their parents once per day or even once a week, so how could they let their folks know that they are doing well, and they got nothing to worry about? The bus driver began to actually laugh when he heard what Uryuu said like he found it rather amusing. "That is what I like to hear, a child that is considerate of his or her parents' feelings and that they might worry about them, you are right the bus does not come to the stop every day, it only goes out once per month, at the end of each month, but you want to keep in touch and not make your parents worry, I and my sister are happy to help you to do that, you come to the bus at the end of the month, and give us a package of letters you want your parents to get, and we will make sure those are delivered, even if we have to deliver them ourselves. Least thing we can do for such a considerate kid."
Uryuu decided to ask Tsuki how in the world she got into Yokai Academy, a place that most people didn't even know existed. She looked a little nervous when he said that and began to laugh, almost like she felt a little awkward about it. "Well my dad had a really bad day at work so he went to get some drinks at a low-cost bar, but once he walked out, he saw a very strangely dressed man wearing what seemed to be the robes of a clergyman. He followed him since he was looking like he was going to fall over any second, and he suddenly dropped a piece of paper, it was an application for Yokai Academy, I had horrible luck trying to pass the high school entrance exam, and had it not been for that lucky incident, I would not be able to enter high school at all."
Ichigo considered this to be too much of a coincidence to call it simple luck, and the driver was now focused completely on the road, almost like he was trying to avoid making eye contact, the driver would be a major help to them but even if he did not ask, he already had the feeling that Tsuki's admittance and that application, were both planned. Someone really wanted her to come and attend Yokai Academy, and the one thing that he could think of is, that they wanted to use her as a sort of bridge between humans and monsters. As far as he and Uryuu knew this school was pretty much an attempt to get them to co-exist, people had a hard enough co-existing with their own kind, racism, and discrimination, were still present in humanity, but added to several different species, and he knew that this would be nearly impossible, so if they could get to build that connection, doing something like that would make sense, considering how it would help the relations between monster and humans, and maybe even promote peace among humans.
Uryuu may not have mentioned it, but the man driving the bus was someone more important than he pretended to be, he was not just a bus driver, his sister was probably another big shot among the different monster races and noble families. Ichigo only stopped himself from accusing the Bus driver of pretty much setting everything up was simple, he did not need to cause Tsuki any problems, and even if he did mention it, the Bus Driver could simply deny it, but this would sour any chance he and Uryuu could have of having him help them if the situation with Fairy Tale, went from bad to worse.
As they got off the bus Tsuki noticed that things were quite different than what she expected, the sky had this almost red tinge to it, and the water from what seemed to be a lake or the ocean was red, almost like it was made up of blood. As they walked down the path, Uryuu noticed that the grounds around the Academy had a much more of a graveyard look to it, the trees looked long dead, and every once in a while he saw the slabs on what seemed to be tombs. They had names and dates of when the people died on them, even several religious symbols he was aware people put on them.
Ichigo on the other hand kept looking around, like he was expecting something or someone to jump from where they were hiding and screm Boo at them. That is when they heard two screeching noises up in the air and when they looked up, they heard one of them say, nothing to look at we are just bats, Tsuki was sort of shocked to hear one of the bats talk. "As if things couldn't get more freaky, a pair of talking bats." As she began to continue to walk towards the Academy another screeching noise was heard. From their memories Ichigo and Uryuu had of what was supposed to happen, Tsuki was about to meet a new friend, by getting hit on the back of the head with a bicycle wheel. It would not hurt much and in the end, she would end up making a good friend because of it, so both cousins decided that they would keep quiet about it.
Abd sure enough the out-of-control bicycle did hit someone in the back of the head, but it was not Tsuki that got hit, but rather it was Ichigo who got hit hard enough that he was knocked on the ground. This is not what they were expecting at all, and much like their memories showed them the rider of that bicycle took a pretty bad tumble and was on the ground, all three of them went to see if this person needed some help, she turned around and without even an explanation she bites Ichigo on the neck, almost like she was drinking his blood. "Sorry that I hit you with my bike, I lost control of it, because I felt so dizzy, you see I am anemic. My name is Moka, who are you?" Much like they rememeber Moka was a pink haired beauty, who was as friendly as they saw in their memories.
"I am Ichigo Kurosaki, that is Uryuu Ishida, my cousin, and the young lady that was walking near us is Tsuki Aono. We were walking up towards the school since all three of us are new students of Yokai Academy." She began to blush for some reason, as she asked them something they were not expecting at all, "Do you three have a bad opinion about Vampires?" Ichigo couldn't help but laugh, and Tsuki simply smiled and told her not at all, they are just people, why just people for their differences.
"Good, I was sort of scared you see, I am new to this school, and I thought that I would end up with no friends like I did in my last school." Ichigo laughed and said that was not possible, since she already made three friends on the first day at the school, both Uryuu and Tsuki nodded as they heard what Ichigo said, "You don't need to worry Moka, since we are friends, you can always come to us if you are having trouble or feeling down."
