The episode begins in Toronto, Canada.
Don: This is Toronto: The capital of North America, birthplace of funk where the albino panther roams free. Beneath my manly size-13 brogues, 18 teams are about to arrive at this historic train station ready to embark on a race around the world. I'm your host, Don, and this is *As the camera zooms in on him* The Ridonculous Race.
"That's Don?" Emma asked. "I almost forgot about him."
"Looks better than Chris McLean already," Geoff said.
"I agree," Noah commented.
The intro zooms in on the earth before silhouettes of the teams.
"I like the new intro," Noah said.
Pictures of different locations pop up before we look at a train, plane and taxi.
"Why does this remind me of the amazing race?" Dwayne Senior asked.
"That's a good chunk of what the show is based on," Erin answered.
"Woah," everyone said.
"I love the amazing race," Carrie said. "I wish some of us could be on it, but being on this is the next best thing."
The intro ends with pictures of the teams popping up before the logo appears.
"Now that's a cool logo," Laurie said.
"I know," Miles commented.
"I couldn't stop jamming to this intro," Macarthur replied.
Don: Welcome to the Ridonculous Race. Right now, 18 teams from across the country are readying themselves to embark on a race to the death.
It ends up being a complete 180.
"That's a relief," Miles said.
"That's the first thing shown that I like about Don," Erin said.
Time to meet the teams. Everyone was pumped to see their younger selves.
Don: Carrie and Devin - Best friends.
"There's you and Devin," Kitty said to Carrie.
"I looked sweet," Carrie said.
"What a sweet young lady you were," Ryan said.
Carrie: I met Devin in the sandbox and we haven't spent a day apart since. *Confessional* If anyone can win the race, it's us.
"Best friends since then?" Noah asked. "Wow!"
"It's almost as if you 2 known each other as long as Peter and I have," Erin said.
"Just wonderful," Sanders commented.
Devin: I know Carrie so well, it's like we're… what are you doing?
"I saw some lint on him that had to be removed?" Carrie responded.
"We saw you blushing," Stephanie said.
"I was crushing on him," Carrie said.
Don: Kelly and Taylor - Mom and daughter.
"Why does she look like a spoiled brat?" Miles asked.
"She has improved on herself since then," Stephanie said. "Is her mom trying to look younger?" Tom asked.
"Either younger or cooler," Jen answered.
Taylor: So A, I'm really hot obviously, and B, I'm pretty much the best at everything, so unless my mom messes things up, we're gonna win this race.
Kelly: Taylor and her friends love when I hang with them. I'm known as the cool mom. *laughs* We're so tight, people always mistake us for sisters.
"They what, now?" Jen asked.
"That mom is a little shrill," Noah said.
"One of Taylor's friends is now Devin's wife," Carrie told them.
"Was it Shelly?" Erin asked.
Carrie nodded.
"The gals here felt bad for her when they broke up," Emma said.
"Speaking of you," Erin said to Emma.
Don: Emma and Kitty: Actual sisters.
"There's me," Kitty said.
"You look so cute," Jen said. "You must have loved taking selfies."
"And I still do," Kitty said.
She took a selfie of her and some of the others.
Emma: I'm studying international law so that's gonna give us a real edge *Confessional* which is good because we're here to win.
"There's you, Emma," Erin said. "You looked hot."
"I can see why you think Kitty and I are two of your favorites," Emma said.
Kitty: And to see the world, meet hot guys and have some fun.
Emma: If there's time for that, which there won't be, so let's focus on winning, okay?
"Winning isn't everything," Tom said.
"And most of us don't know about the 'no having fun' part," Brody added.
"We sure found some fun," Macarthur said.
"Us too," Geoff added.
Don: Crimson and Ennui - two exceptionally pale teens. Okay, that's just unnerving.
"Those 2 remind me of Gwen for some reason," Noah said.
"Is it because they're goth like her?" Owen asked.
"There it is," Noah said.
"Man, that girl was fun to be around," Kitty said.
Don: Owen and Noah - reality TV participants.
"Hey Noah," Emma said. "There's you and Owen."
"That is us," Owen said.
Geoff was the first to drop his jaw.
"How did I not see that it was the 2 of you?" he asked.
"Weren't the 3 of you on Total Drama together?" Dwayne Junior asked.
"We were," Noah said. "First season, I only lasted 3 episodes."
"Then he got another chance in season 3," Owen added. "And lasted all the way to the halfway mark."
Owen: Noah and I met on Total Drama, and we've both been on tons of TV shows since like meltdown kitchen, and scare factor, and fashionista flip-flop.
Noah: Don't know how you got on that one.
"Isn't that like Rupaul's Drag Race?" Kitty asked.
"It was," Owen said. "Anne Maria and Lindsay were there."
"I remember," Jen said. "Lindsay was helping with the outfits backstage."
"And Anne Maria was a guest judge," Dwayne Junior added. "My school pranked me into watching a few episodes."
Owen: I'm just so psyched to be reunited with my little buddy. *Hugs Noah extra tight* Come here!
"Too tight, big guy," Noah said.
"Sorry about that," Owen commented. "Guess I didn't know my strength."
"Maybe," Emma said.
Everyone chuckled over that.
Don: Mickey and Jay - Identical twins who are used to overcoming adversity.
"Why do those 2 remind me of Sammy and her sister?" Carrie asked.
"They're twins as well," Ellody answered.
"Except this set of twins seem to get along way better," Mary added.
Mickey: We've both been through a lot, but we're not cursed. Whatever's right before cursed, that's us.
Jay: Like when I was 6, I fell into a burrowing owl's nest, and one of the baby owls flew into my ear. To this day, everything on this side sounds like hoot, hoot, hoot.
"Is it wrong to feel bad for them this early in the season?" Kitty asked.
"Not really," Sanders commented.
"That had to hurt," Brody said. "Still can't believe they're still alive."
"None of us can," Dwayne Junior commented.
Don: The totally in love daters - Stephanie and Ryan.
"There we are, Steph," Ryan said.
"Woah!" Stephanie said. "Look at us."
"No kidding," Tom said. "Ryan's so muscular."
"And Stephanie looks hot," Jen added.
Ryan: Stephanie and I met at the gym two months and six days ago, and we've been going steady ever since.
Stephanie: We're so excited. Neither of us have ever traveled before. Just so much to discover, like what a chocolate protein bar stays like in China.
Ryan and Stephanie agree on that before making out.
"Just like you and Bridgette," Noah said to Geoff.
"I hope you two don't make out all the time like he and Bridgette did," Owen said. "That's what made them the first out in Total Drama's 2nd season."
"We didn't," Stephanie said.
"At least not that much," Ryan said before making out with Stephanie.
"Here we go again," Mary said.
"I like it," Geoff commented.
The train arrives at the station.
"Fun fact," Erin said. "That station resembles Union Station in Toronto."
"Cool," everyone else said.
"Who else was coming off the train?" Tom asked.
Don: Josee and Jacques - Ice dancers.
Jacques: We both know how to win. Josee: We've won gold everywhere except the Olympics.
He dropped me, so we only won silver.
This upsets Jacques to the point of running off.
"Oh boy," Mary said. "You guys didn't like those two, huh?"
"Nope," Erin said.
"No way," Tom said.
"Especially us," Macarthur said.
"Brody and I agree," Geoff said.
"Hey Geoff," Erin said. "Speaking of you."
Don: Geoff and Brody - lifelong best friends, and surfer dudes.
Geoff: *Laughs* Going around the world on someone else's dawn. Sweet! Hey Bridgette, love ya babe!
"There we are, Geoff," Brody said.
"Radical," Geoff said.
Now, Noah had his jaw dropped.
"That was you?" he asked.
"How did we not know?" Owen asked.
"Still can't believe you 3 didn't interact with each other at all during this race," Ryan said.
Geoff: My girl and I did Total Drama, but she's surfing her way around Australia right now, so boom! Entre: mud bud. Pretty young guy.
Brody: Bros forever! *Fist bumping with Geoff* G and B for the W-I-N!
"You two must have one of the coolest friendships around," Mary said.
"Heck yeah, we do!" Brody said.
The teams introduced so far started making their way over to Don, but more teams are on the way, one of which was Dwayne Junior and Dwayne Senior, a father and son team.
"There we are, dad," Dwayne Junior said.
"Oh yeah," Dwayne Senior commented.
"Okay," Emma said. "I'm just now noticing, but why does Dwayne Junior look like Justin Bieber?"
"So I'm a Justin Bieber fan," Dwayne Junior answered. "Big deal!"
Dwayne Senior: I spend a lot of time at the old office there, so this race is a perfect chance for Jr. and I to squeeze in a little father-son bonding time. Dwayne
Junior: Yeah, sure dad. Hey, um, are there any other kids my age in this thing?
"How old was he when this first started?" Brody asked.
"At the time, 13," Dwayne Senior answered.
Also competing were police cadets: Sanders and Macarthur.
"There we are," Macarthur said.
"You two weren't planning on cheating, were you?" Emma asked.
"No," Macarthur said. "Though I did feel okay with breaking a few rules, especially if it means going to the extreme."
"She didn't break any international laws," Sanders said.
"Though, I wasn't on board with breaking any period."
Don: Lorenzo and Chet - new stepbrothers.
"There's the step brothers," Mary said.
"They've gotten better since then," Tom said.
"At least they don't fight as much anymore," Brody said.
Lorenzo: My dad married his mom last year, but we still hate each other, so they're making us do this. Jerks!
Chet: Don't call my mom a jerk!
This leads to them fighting again.
"What caused that crazy wedding in the first place, anyway?" Kitty asked.
Don: Also racing, Tom and Jen - highly attractive fashion bloggers with impeccable taste. I told you not to let the teams write their own cards.
"There we are," Tom said.
"We looked attractive alright," Jen said. "Being in the race looked so good on our blog."
"Weren't you in fashion school with Lindsay and Justin?" Emma asked.
"We both were," Tom answered.
Jen: Hey all our blog followers out there. Wish us luck!
Tom: I bet Jen we could win this race, but I didn't think she would actually take me up on it.
"When my mind is put in place, something awesome happens," Jen said.
"I bet it does," Crimson said.
Don: Rock and Spud - the rockers.
Rock: Spud wasn't sure about doing this cuz he's not super fit, or good at much of anything except rocking out.
"I wonder if Spud uses music to communicate with Rock," Noah said.
"That would be cool," Geoff said. "Some backup musicians for Trent next time he makes a hit song."
"I would love to see that," Emma said.
They all agreed to that.
Don: Laurie and Miles - granola loving hippie dippie friends.
"There we are, Laurie," Miles said.
"Oh yeah," Laurie commented.
"Did you two really stop traffic just to let a butterfly flutter off?" Mary asked.
"No way we were letting the traffic kill precious nature," Miles said.
"Just like Dawn," Stephanie said.
"And Bridgette," Geoff asked.
Laurie: We want to win, so we can donate to our favorite charities: Save the Hunchback Walrus, Goat Mile Eco Warriors, People for the Ethical Treatment for Ants. So many great causes.
"All of which help protect the animals and plants on Earth," Miles said.
"Pretty cool," Noah said. "I remember learning environmental science in school."
"Us too," Mary commented. "I wish we started a recycling club when we were in school."
"It's not too late to start one at whatever school you teach at," Ryan said.
"That is true," Ellody said.
Speaking of Ellody…
Don: Ellody and Mary - scientific geniuses who say they will use their winnings to support the science community.
"There we are," Mary said.
"We look good," Ellody said.
"Why does Mary remind me of Harold?" Owen asked.
"I'm his cousin," Mary answered.
"What!?" everyone else asked in shock.
"Yeah," Mary said. "We had a family reunion. Should've invited you guys."
Ellody: Astrophysics is underfunded. Reality shell offers monetary prizes. Conundrum solved.
"Wow," Erin said.
"I should've spent more time with your family," Noah said to Mary.
"Especially now that we know Harold is related to you," Owen added.
The next team was Leonard and Tammy: 2 live action role players.
"That's Leonard from Pahkitew Island," Emma said.
"Wasn't he the first one booted that season?" Carrie asked.
"Beardo was," Erin answered. "Leonard was second. Still can't believe they brought him back."
Leonard: Pahkitew Island was tough, but with Tammy's new spells, huzzah! We'll claim the dragon's eye! That's 1 million.
"Okay," Noah said. "I can already tell he loves those Harry Potter movies."
"I agree," Laurie commented.
Don: Gerry and Pete - Retired pro tennis players.
Some started giggling.
"What's so funny?" Stephanie asked.
"That is what Chris McLean looks like at 68 years of age," Noah answered.
Everyone was laughing then.
"Letting senior citizens play?" Owen asked. "Cool."
Gerry: We're both very competitive, but for half a mil each? Game on! *Laughs*
Pete: Maybe we'll get some new sponsorships. Anyone need a pitchman for seniors' laxatives?
Gerry and Pete: Call his agent! *Laugh together*
"Something about these 2, I enjoy," Erin said.
"Me too," Crimson said.
"Those 2 must have known each other for a long time."
"Yeah," Ennui said. "Except they've aged better than some people over the last 47 years."
Everyone busted out laughing again.
Don: Welcome contestants. This is the starting line for your 26 part race around the world. Each part ends at a chill zone. Get there fast because the last team to stand on the carpet of completion may be eliminated.
"That had me nervous," Noah said.
"Every show I've been on, I make it to the final 8, then get eliminated."
"I heard," Geoff said. "If this show ever comes back, maybe Tyler and Leshawna can be in it."
"Weren't they competing on reality shows too?" Stephanie asked.
"They were," Erin answered.
Don: The first team to reach our last chill zone will win 1 million dollars.
Everyone was about to doze off into excitement, before being told to look over to the right. Don shows everyone the tip box for the race, which he calls the Don box.
"Nice name," Laurie said.
"So cool," Ryan said.
Don: Press this button to get the travel tips that will lead you through the ridonculous race. Ready teams? On your mark, get set? Race!
Everyone started racing off.
"Woo!" Everyone cheered.
"It's racing time!" Kitty exclaimed.
"Here we go," Stephanie said.
"Oh yeah!" Geoff said.
"Here we go!" Brody said while fist bumping Geoff.
"Let's get this racing party started!" Laurie said.
"We're gonna rock this race!" Ryan said.
The first tip told the teams to head to the CN tower.
Dwayne Junior: There's the tower!
Jacques: And here comes the competition!
"Everyone is in it to win it," Dwayne Junior said.
There was no doubt about it.
Dwayne Senior trips over a garbage can that lands on Josee and Jacques.
"Really, dad?" Dwayne Junior asked. "The race just started and already, you wanna cause problems?"
"Should've moved it out of the way," Dwayne Senior said.
Luckily for Josee and Jacques, they lift the can away and continue on, only for the can to land on Brody and Geoff.
"We were fine," Geoff said.
"My buddy and I have been through way worse," Brody commented.
"That's good to know," Ellody replied.
At the CN tower, Dwayne Junior and Senior arrive first. The tip is an either-or, which confuses Junior. Jacques and Josee then arrive, along with Geoff and Brody, who crash into a pole.
"Ooh," everyone winced.
"You two okay?" Mary asked.
"That was quite a hit," Dwayne Senior said.
"Hope there wasn't too much of that," Emma said.
Don: An either-or gives the teams the choice of two challenges.
The first two were stairs or scares. If a team picked stairs, that team had to climb 144 flights of stairs to the top of the tower. If a team picks the scares' challenge, the team can take the elevator, then get the scare of a lifetime where they have to take a sky-walk around the tower.
"Oh my god!" Mary said.
"During a strong wind bank?" Crimson asked.
"That is scary," Brody said.
"I've seen much scarier," Noah said.
"Me too," Geoff said.
Don: Not to worry, though. They'll be wearing helmets, and as an extra precaution, we had a safety rail installed. Teams must finish either task and find this local guide to receive their next tip.
"That's good to know," Mary said.
"Such a relief," Noah said.
"I was too young to die that day," Geoff said.
"I thought I was gonna pee in my own pants if we did that," Brody commented.
The cadets chose scares, along with the fashion bloggers and step brothers. The adversity twins did stairs.
Jay: Mickey gets nosebleeds when he goes up too high too fast. Makes it pretty tough to take flights, or you know, go up really tall towers.
"That must be rough," Emma said.
"I wish we were able to help those two get over their fears," Kitty said.
"No kidding," Ryan said.
Dwayne Senior and his son make it in first, but he lets all the buttons get hit by mistake.
Dwayne Senior: Oops. For a skinny tower, there are a lot of floors.
"Nice going dad," Dwayne Senior said.
"That's nothing," Noah said.
"You should see the Sears tower," Kitty said.
The surfer dudes, cadets, ice dancers and fashion bloggers originally chose scares, only to find all the buttons pressed. All but the fashion bloggers switched to taking the stairs despite Sanders wanting to wait.
Jen: This will probably still be faster.
"There was no time to wait in a race like that," Brody said.
"Yeah," Geoff said. "Time is ticking."
The surfer dudes, cadets and ice dancers went up the stairs with Jay, Mickey, Dwayne Junior and Senior. Meanwhile, more teams chose scares, but are in for a long wait.
"Thanks a lot, dad," Junior said.
"It's not my fault the tower has so many floors," Dwayne Senior said.
While in the elevator, Tom and Jen decide to share their fashion faux-pas, which was overalls, which led to them getting hit by water and a mop by the time they reached the top.
"Overrated or not, not a nice thing to say to janitors," Brody said.
"Don't your mom wear overalls too?" Mary asked.
"No," Jen said.
"We see why it wasn't nice to say, now," Tom said.
The fashion bloggers are in first place, but their fun quickly turns to fright when they see what they have to walk on.
"Now I see why you and Geoff switched tasks," Jen said.
"I agree," Tom said. "Some of you others are in for a scare to remember."
"Oh boy," Owen said.
Don then sent the race to a commercial break.
"Already, I like Don way better than Chris McLean," Geoff said.
"At least he cares about other people's safety," Noah said.
"You got that right," Owen said.
Stay tuned for part 2 of Episode 1.
