Dark, Darker and Darker. The catacombs of this newly discovered moon were immediately on the radar of the Mechanicus, and Louis himself. Thankfully, he had time to actually investigate it, with the meeting between the Imperium of man and himself not being for another two weeks.
Raskain and the guard for him were above. And if anything got bad, they would immediately come to his aid.
In that time he had firstly improved the quality of life, Helping the Mechanicus understand that No, you do not need to do a seven hour ritual to turn on the fucking toaster…although it crept him out a bit with some of them being a bit too…. close with said appliance. Specifically, one of the trusted engineers he picked out, her name being Kuvera…she scared him.
Louis shuddered for a moment as he climbed down a rockface, going deeper into the catacombs. Thankfully, it seemed deserted, no dangerous monsters or anything to worry about, although the solemn feeling of this place made him…well solemn. It had been abandoned for quite some time, if the carbon dating was correct. Mid 30th millennium.
Louis eventually reached the bottom of the catacomb landing on his feet, Vigdis caught up floating beside him, although her eye darted around in fear. "L-louie…can't we do this another time? I don't like this place. It's creepy"
"Vigdis, don't worry. This place has had no visitors in…. ten thousand years, give or take a few centuries or five." Louis wandered down the hallway, There did not seem to be any traps, at least from what he could see, He stopped for a moment feeling his boot kick something causing it to skid across the stone tile. Vigdis shined her eye light down, and they both could see the helmet, specifically a space marine helmet… yet the color was not one they recognized, even from the other chapters.
The helmet was cedar brown in coloration, and upon Vigdis shining her light up a small amount, they could see the rest of the armor slumped up against a wall. Louis approached it and hesitantly analyzed the armor. No signs of battle damage, no conflict… it was as if they just dropped dead.
"What could have caused thi-"
"Uhh louie?" The man turned his attention to vigdis, her light intensity increasing until it bathed the hallway fully. Now they could see dozens of them, all in various poses, some slumped against the wall, others lying on the ground. And at the end of the long hallway was a large room, with the doors having fallen because of age. A coffin lying in the middle of it, Flags of a forgotten chapter, Emblems of a different time.
Cautiously, they both walked through the hallway, eventually reaching the threshold of the door..
His hand brushed against a plaque, moving some of the dust off of it. And Louis, being the curious individual he was, read it.
"Beloved daughter, my shining light, my beautiful Ayla, my moonlight?" Louis mumbled out, his gaze going towards the coffin, and upon closer inspection, the armor of what he assumed to be the chapter master of this group sat against it. Having lost the battle to age.
Louis crossed the threshold into the inner chamber, and eventually his foot came upon the first step leading up to the coffin. He passed the body of the chapter master, continuing to climb until he was face to face with the coffin. Chains wrapped around it. The wood and metal were faded, having lost its luster because of age.
"This seems like a resting place for someone?, But why would they be guarding one coffin…" Vigdis spoke out as her light gazed into the Chapter master's helmet. Looking up, she noticed Louis undoing the chains. And she floated over to get a better look herself.
"Are you sure you want to do this Louie…"
"No one has been here in over ten thousand years…yet something is amiss here" One by one, the chains dropped to the stone floor, rattling loudly in the silence. Eventually, all that was left for the man and his cube companion was to open the coffin. Louis and Vigdis looked at each other for a moment. Louis then gestured his head towards it. Vigdis narrowed her eye a small amount, before letting out a sigh going to the side of the coffin.
"On three," Louis spoke, grabbing his side of the lid, While Vigdis pushed herself into it.
"THREE" At that, the both of them quickly moved the lid away, picking up a decent amount of dust. Fanning it away from his face, Louis gazed into the coffin…and went silent. "Louie?, why'd you go silent, and whatever happened to one and two-"
Vigdis floated around the coffin until she was beside Louis, and upon her eye glancing into the coffin, she would go silent as well.
Inside of the coffin was a pale, brown-haired woman, an ethereal beauty about her, like that of royalty. And as Louis and vigdis looked over the armor she was wearing, It cemented that fact in both of their minds. The stamp of the Emperor on her pauldron.
"Vigdis….did we just?" Louis looked over at the woman a bit more. Still not believing what he saw. And now he was cursing his own self out for actually deciding to investigate this place.
"Find the body of the second primarch stripped from the records of the imperium as a whole…yes, yes we did" Vigdis immediately floated over to the opened coffin, a beam going out of her eye scanning over the body of the primarch.
While vigdis did the vital scan, Louis pressed a finger to his temple connecting to Raskain. A second or so of silence went through his mind, and eventually the Fabricator general picked up. Man, it was a good idea bringing the Codex to life.
"Yes omnissiah, are you in peril!, Do you need me to send down the techmarines?"
"No, no, I am perfectly fine. This is something that needs to be off the books , however. No one else must know about this alright….Vigdis and I just found the second Primarch" Louis finished his sentence and waited for a reply from the Fabricator general. A few minutes passed by, yet there was no reply and He began to wonder if he dropped the call. Only for Raskain to break the silence.
"Forgive me omnissiah, but could you repeat that one more time"
"We. have. found. The. second. Primarch" Louis enunciated slowly. This time he hoped Raskain could understand it more clearly, and thankfully to Louis's own sanity he did.
"I see, this is…news, I shall trust your judgment on this, my lord. Never in my eight hundred years of life would I ever hear that statement… Magos vaal, fetch me a reca-" louis cut the call short approaching vigdis. Who had now finished up the scan, a worried look in her eye.
Louis approached the coffin and gently pulled out the rather tall woman cradling her in his arms, Her body slumping slightly. He then began walking out of the inner chamber, down the hall eventually coming upon the wall he climbed down. And as Vigdis made a floating platform, causing them to ascend up the wall. One thought went through his mind.
'How will this change things?'
