In the far reaches of the Milky Way Galaxy, an aspiring young fleet officer is on a routine border patrol. But this patrol will be anything but routine. It will be the start of a conflict that will come to encompass the entire galaxy, and bring humanity many new allies, and just as many enemies.

As the Prethoryn Scourge presses on the border of the Commonwealth of Man, the Commonwealth's leader makes some new choices and questions some old ones.

A Titan under the flag of the Farmer Snail Conferacy orbits an enemy world in preparation for bombardment. Commanding the largest warship the galaxy has ever seen, a saddened Farmer Snail Admiral contemplates all the events that had led up to this moment in his life.

This is the story I wrote for the Stellaris Writing Competition held by Paradox, which was liked enough to earn one of the five winning spots. It describes the story of the united Zaymori Republics, starting from their sail to the stars to discover the secrets of the galaxy they live in.

They have been travelling from system to system since then, in a desperate attempt to find a new home before the last of their dwindling supplies were used up. Two refugees, the elderly Te'K er'Bik and the child Bi'V il'Tek, try to remain hopeful in these tragic times. One-Shot.
