Morningpaw was put straight to work the very moment Mudfur gave her a clean bill of health. The flame-colored apprentice was pushed out of the medicine cat's den and sent right to the elders' den.

Graypool, a thin gray she-cat with patchy fur and a scarred muzzle. Was currently the only elder in the entire Clan. Listening to her go on about her kits, who happened to be Mistyfoot and Stonefur, and telling stories about both her kithood and the shenanigans their noble leader had gotten up to with his equally oh so honorable deputy, it made Morningpaw feel part of home. It had been a past lifetime since she ever had to attend to an elder.

"You know, Morningpaw," Graypool began saying as the flame-colored apprentice shifted through the elders' fur, searching for fleas and ticks. "You remind me a lot of my sister."

"You're sister?" Morningpaw meowed, curious. "You had a sister?"

Graypool nodded. An air of melancholy now surrounded the elderly she-cat. Plus a bit of pain. "Me and Willowbreeze were inseparable. We had so many adventures together. We were once taken to live in WindClan, did you know that?" Morningpaw shook her head, surprised.

"Our father was Reedfeather, he was WindClan's deputy back then," the surprised look that appeared on Morningpaw made Graypool purr in amusement. "Yes. Our father was a WindClan warrior while our mother, Fallowtail, was a RiverClan cat. It was a forbidden love between the two."

Morningpaw was now immersed in the story, "what happened to you both? Why aren't you in WindClan now?"

Graypool let out a sigh. "Our mother gave us up to prevent a war between RiverClan and WindClan. However, Hailstar led a patrol to steal us back, almost killing Reedfeather in the process. Our father and his Clan were good to us but our true place was within our mother's Clan."

Morningpaw couldn't help but ask one important question. "How were you both treated when you got back?"

Graypool side-eyed Morningpaw for a moment. Clearly understanding the underlying meaning behind the question. "It was as though we had never left. Though there was trepidation about our loyalty, that was easily earned throughout our apprenticeship. Didn't hurt that your sister grows up to become the mate of the Clan's new leader."

"Your sister became mates with Crookedstar?" Morningpaw asked, learning more and more about the cats around her.

Graypool warmly purred at the question. "Yes. They were madly in love with each other. Everyone could tell and it wasn't long before my sister got pregnant. They had both been so happy, for countless moon's."

"Then what happened."

Graypool became solemn almost instantly, a pained look in her eyes now as she stared towards the reed wall. "She caught greencough and died. Two of her kits, Minnowkit and Willowkit, also caught the sickness and died shortly after. The only survivor was--"

"Silverstream." Morningpaw finished, her heart aching for her friend's tragic loss.

Graypool acknowledged the apprentice's response with another nod. Then the elderly RiverClan she-cat turned a sharp eye on Morningpaw, freezing the apprentice in place as the patchy gray elder seemed to look her over, scrutinizing every whisker. "I have heard a lot about you, Morningpaw. You used to be a kittypet. Many in the Clan's look down upon those who have lived outside, or weren't born in, a Clan. Though you've proved yourself time and time again. You've saved Oakheart, helped save WindClan. You excel as an apprentice and will one day make a great warrior. Don't let what those interfering busybodies think hold you back."

Morningpaw honestly felt touched by the genuine encouragement. Choking back a flood of emotion, Morningpaw managed to croak out, "Thank you, Graypool."

The elder simply wave Morningpaw off with a paw. "I only call it as I see it. Though you should hurry and finish. Oakheart will be calling out the cats joining tonight's gathering sometime soon."

"I highly doubt I'd be chosen with all the trouble I've caused." Morningpaw shook her head, but continued working on Graypool's pelt.

Morningpaw was frankly shocked as she followed after tonight's patrol heading towards the gathering. Morningpaw honestly believed she would never in all of StarClan be chosen to attend the gathering tonight, or any other night.

At her side, Whitepaw was practically shaking with excitement, this would be his first time attending a gathering, and it was also Morningpaw's first gathering after being reborn. Facing the other Clans, especially ThunderClan and ShadowClan, would be particularly strained tonight with how everything has been going lately.

RiverClan still held reign over Sunningrocks. ThunderClan wouldn't be too pleased to see them tonight. And with what happened in WindClan, ShadowClan must be plotting retaliation. Morningpaw just hoped that whatever they planned, it would fail.

"Look, look, Morningpaw look!" Morningpaw was jostled out of her internal worried thoughts as Whitepaw bumped her in the side. Morningpaw turned to her friend, a little bit annoyed, but the shine in his eyes as he flicked his dark brown tail to look ahead of them, she relented. Ahead of them were four, looming, giant oak trees that seemed to tower over all other trees in the forest. "It's Fourtrees!" The amber-eyed apprentice squealed, but was instantly shushed by an older warrior.

They came to a stop at the top of a slope. Glancing down into the hollow, Morningpaw saw that only ThunderClan and WindClan had arrived, no sign of ShadowClan. Whitepaw was wiggling in anticipation, eager to get going, as Morningpaw listened half-heartedly to Crookedstar making detailed requests: "We say nothing about any of our current problems. We have to look strong in the face of both ThunderClan and ShadowClan. Make them second guess crossing us. Say little about our involvement with WindClan, let WindClan tell our praise if they wish, none of the other Clans needs to know our new stance with them."

"Are you going to openly challenge Brokenstar on his threats to RiverClan?" Leopardfur questioned.

Crookedstar gave the chosen group a sweep of his head, before meowing, "We shall see." Then he led his group down the slope, through the bushes and into the hollow.

Morningpaw gave a full body shudder as soon as she stepped paw in the clearing. The towering large rock in the center of the clearing was causing overwhelming acute nostalgia. In a past life, Morningpaw had sat there alongside three other leaders, representing ThunderClan as its leader.

"The Great Rock," Whitepaw breathed into Morningpaw's ear, "It's much bigger than I expected it to be."

Morningpaw murmured in agreement. The Great Rock did look bigger than she remembered it being. Then again, she was much shorter in this new life than in her old one.

"Let's get a closer look!" Whitepaw suggested, his snowy-white paws kneading the ground. "It will be quick!"

Morningpaw found that she couldn't deny him and nodded. They skirted the clearing until they came to the massive rock that towered above the pair. 'How did I ever manage to get up there?' Morningpaw wondered to herself, her eyes widened in shock at the size.

"I wonder if we can stand on it?" Whitepaw murmured, his amber eyes wide and gleaming.

"I wouldn't try it if I was you," both apprentices jumped in surprise as they were caught by not only WindClan's deputy, but also Oakheart. "That place is reserved for only leader's."

"I don't know," Oakheart hummed, "I once stood up on it during a gathering when I was still just a plain old warrior."

"So is it okay if we go up there now?" Whitepaw asked, seeking permission from a startled Oakheart, who didn't seem as though he were trying to encourage them to stand on it. Oakheart just seemed to like to brag.

"Well err- I meant that auh-" Whitepaw took their deputy's lack of a no as being a 'sure, go on ahead' and excitedly turned to Morningpaw, gesturing to the flame pelted apprentice to follow him.

Morningpaw watched as the snowy-white pawed apprentice took a large leap, managing to make it just under the edge, before pulling himself straight to the top, then calling down to his denmate, "Come on, Morningpaw, see the view from up here!"

Morningpaw's whiskers twitched in amusement as she glimpsed both Oakheart and the WindClan deputy's dumbfounded expression, before making the jump herself, she fell short and had to scramble half way, Whitepaw ended up having to pull her up over the edge by the scruff of her neck, which was embarrassing having everyone witness, but the view was worth it.

Both she and Whitepaw towered above the rest. For one apprentice it was a new exciting experience, but for the other, it was like clicking back in a well earned place. The pair turned to share a joyous look between them. However their little excursion was put to a halt by Whitepaw's mentor calling up to the pair, sounding quite annoyed, "Both of you get down from there! Who told you that either of you could be up there?"

Whitepaw looked down upon his golden dappled tabby mentor and cheerfully responded, "Oakheart told us we can!"

Leopardfur turned a sharp glare to Oakheart, as the reddish-brown deputy tried to splutter out a defense.

In the distraction, Whitepaw and Morningpaw easily slipped off the rock unnoticed and snuck into the crowd of cats. Both their fur was bristling in exhilaration. That was the best experience either of them have ever felt.

"We should split up," Whitepaw suggested, "that way it will be harder to catch us both. I don't feel like getting a lecture anytime soon, do you?"

Morningpaw shook her head. If they split up now then that would give the other cat time before also getting caught. Morningpaw nodded and she and Whitepaw split apart. Going off in opposite directions.

Morningpaw strolled around. Glimpsing some of her Clanmates talking mainly with other WindClan warriors. Morningpaw realized with a jolt that the divisions within the forest had shifted, now it appeared as though RiverClan and WindClan are on good terms, maybe even allies.

ThunderClan was also interacting with some WindClan warriors. However the WindClan cats seemed to be turning their backs to the forest cats as RiverClan is. Solidarity with their allies.

Morningpaw looked around for any friendly faces to talk to. Morningpaw's memories on names and faces were scarce, as though so faded that recalling would only bring up a faceless blurry image. So the flame-colored she-cat needed to get around to making connections once more, and quickly.

Morningpaw walked along the perimeter of the clearing. Just scoping it out when out of the corner of her jade green eye she saw a black little blob hunched over themselves, shadowed under a prickly bush, seeming as though they wanted to go unnoticed.

Not knowing when to leave well enough alone, Morningpaw decided to investigate. The closer she came, the more and more the small cat shrunk into himself. Obviously he was an apprentice, too small to be anything else. Morningpaw tried to appear as friendly as she could as she called out, "Well, hello there. Who are you, I almost completely walked past without noticing."

The other cat was petrified, unknowingly curling and uncurling, as though they weren't sure whether or not they wanted to hide or flee. He was so lost in his panic, he didn't realize at first what exactly Morningpaw had said.

"...Are you alright? Can you hear me?" Morningpaw gently nudged the other cat and he gasped, flinching away but trying to keep him face down. "Are you hurt? I know, you probably have heard some nasty stories about me but I've been working on that. I promise, I mean no harm." Morningpaw crouched and the black tom hunched into a ball, trying desperately to avoid looking at Morningpaw at all costs.

"Oh, come on. Are you trying to hide? You know, it's not actually true that if you can't see me, I can't see you." Morningpaw said jokingly.

The other apprentice didn't say anything and Morningpaw let out a disappointed sigh.

"Seriously, feeling a little offended here. Can't you look at me? Come on, that's it." Morningpaw managed to nudge, more like bullying, the other apprentice into looking up, the other cat whimpered and Morningpaw gently shushed him

"Shh, it's alright. I won't hurt you. I just want to know what's...wrong…" There was a long moment of silence where Morningpaw was studying his face. Recognizing his face.

"Hello again." Morningpaw squeaked. Because staring back at her were Ravenpaw's anxious green eyes.

"It's you." He gasped as he tried to look anywhere but at Morningpaw. "You're here." the pure sense of fear in his tone hurt Morningpaw in unimaginable ways.

Ravenpaw used to be one of her best friends in a past life. He had been so loyal. Someone true of heart, and perhaps one of the bravest cats she had ever known. Morningpaw needed to fix this situation.

"I'm Morningpaw," the flame pelted she-cat decided to start with introductions. "Newly made apprentice of RiverClan. I'm sorry how things turned out for us during our first time meeting. I hope that you are doing well."

Ravenpaw seemed taken off guard at how overly friendly Morningpaw was suddenly being. Maybe it was alarming to see someone who you fought against suddenly being nice to you.

"So who are you?" Morningpaw promoted when Ravenpaw didn't say anything.

Ravenpaw nervously looked around again, before muttering out, "R-Ravenpaw."

Morningpaw's whiskers twitched in satisfaction. Small steps. "Nice to meet you, Ravenpaw."

Ravenpaw didn't say anything in response, and so it seemed that it was up to Morningpaw to get this friendship beyond borders started.

"It seems that it's just RiverClan, ThunderClan and WindClan so far. I'm honestly relieved." Morningpaw said, watching Ravenpaw's ear twitch, though the black tom still was apprehensive he also seemed interested. "After what we've been through with ShadowClan over the last moon, I can use a break from those foxhearts."

"W-what do you mean?" Ravenpaw hesitantly asked.

"ShadowClan has been a threat to everyone lately it seems." Morningpaw meowed, "especially with my Clan."

Ravenpaw seemed to take that information in. Then he looked to he struggling with himself with whether or not he should respond, before coming to a conclusion that it wouldn't hurt, "ShadowClan is a great danger to us all."

"ShadowClan is the worst." Morningpaw meowed, leaning forward into Ravenpaw's space so only the black tom could hear. "They came and threatened us in our own camp. Then they tried to drive out WindClan, almost killing everyone. So I understand why you are afraid."

Ravenpaw appeared speechless, before slowly nodding. "ThunderClan had also been threatened. Currently-" the black tom seemed hesitant to tell Morningpaw, but from her the gleam in her eyes and how earnest she was, it loosened the ThunderClan apprentices tongue. "-we have a ShadowClan prisoner. She hasn't really been all that much of a threat, but she is mean at times."

Yellowfang! Morningpaw jolted in realization. "I hope you're taking good care of her."

Ravenpaw's eyes darted around, "I guess we are."

There was a sudden lull in the conversation, with Morningpaw struggling on how to continue, Ravenpaw wasn't making this easy for her. 'What is Ravenpaw good at?' Morningpaw internationally asked herself.

"You like storytelling, don't you, Ravenpaw." Morningpaw watched the nervous black tom pause, before rapidly nodding his head. "Then tell me a story." Morningpaw settled in as Ravenpaw's expression turned from shock, then to relief, and then tentative hope.

Then Ravenpaw began a detailed story about an army of rats vs only one cat and how that single cat came out on top.

As his story had progressed, more and more cats had overheard and had come to listen. Ravenpaw was quite a good storyteller and many could see that. The group mainly consisted of apprentices.

And then he had to show up.

O0O0O0

Just part 1 of the Gathering! I have more planned but this chapter is taking to long! Editing this thing isn't easy! I miss a lot of things because of the length but I wasn't able to stop when I got going!

Fun Fact's:

Graypool is easily going to become one of Morningpaw's favorite cat's (Firestar was never really that close with any of the elders in the original books in my opinion)

Whitepaw and Morningpaw friendship goals! You do something stupid and I'll be right there beside you!

Oakheart is a bad influence on these apprentices!

Leopardfur would blame Oakheart even if he wasn't even apart of the situation. (Honestly, she knows Oakheart is behind most of these things!)

Now what could come about with Morningpaw befriending Ravenpaw I wonder?

And who is HE?
