A few snails glued to the stems of the reeds. Dragonflies dancing on the surface of the river overhead. Silver minnows lazily and fearlessly swimming past the trio of cats. Morningpaw was shifting her attention anywhere else but the one thing she needed too and that was right in front of her muzzle.
The flame-pelted she-cat was taken off guard. Morningpaw really hadn't expected such a direct question and one that hit so close to her secrets at that.
Now Morningpaw had to suffer through an awkward silence as she struggled on what she should tell them. The truth or a lie? Which would be for the best.
Morningpaw glanced back and made the mistake of making eye contact with the kind earnest gaze of the RiverClan ancestor that was giving Morningpaw all the time and trust that Morningpaw needed to make a decision.
The truth or a lie?
Would they even believe her?
But what would happen if they did?
This was a crucial moment that would set the precedents for the future. If Morningpaw was to lie now then who would believe her when it was time to tell the truth? The worst that could happen would be that they would label her insane and kick her out of the Clan. Effectively ruining any chance that Morningpaw had to save both her old and new Clan's and the forest as a whole. Maybe being a loner wouldn't be too bad. Perhaps Barely would be willing to share his barn.
Morningpaw took a deep breath, steeling her nerves and looking not into the eyes of the StarClan ancestor, but into the emerald-green orbs of her leader, who had once would have been her equal.
"You're right, I do know who you are, I've known long before I even joined RiverClan." Morningpaw boldly claimed, ignoring the way Crookedstar's eyes widened in surprise. "I've known about StarClan because I once was a part of it. You see this is my second chance at life. I was given the opportunity by an old being that's been alive just as long as the Clan's have existed. In my last life I wasn't a part of RiverClan, I was a part of ThunderClan. I trained, loved and fought as a ThunderClan warrior. I had once put my heart and soul into the Clan and pledged my loyalty to it and eventually I became their leader. But there had been so much grief and loss during my life, I watched those I loved either die or suffer. I wanted to change that! I agreed to be reborn to help right the tragedies that I knew were going to happen. But I was too rash and instead of being able to join ThunderClan I ended up joining RiverClan instead. In the beginning I was plagued with worry and anxiety on how to save ThunderClan from a tyrant, Tigerclaw to be exact, who tried through bloodshed and murder to take a hold of leadership in ThunderClan to fulfill the ability to take over all the other Clan's. If Tigerclaw isn't stopped then the forest and every Clan in it will be destroyed."
Both Crookedstar and Brambleberry were silent, up until Crookedstar meowed, with no real heat but a matter of fact, "you have been using RiverClan this entire time."
Morningpaw managed to contain her flinch but dipped her head, no longer wanting to hide anything from either of these cats. "I'll admit that in the beginning that is what I was doing. But overtime that began to change. I lived amongst you, I fought alongside you, I experienced the life of a true RiverClan warrior and I've come to care about those that also claim that title. Whether you believe me or not, whether I need to prove myself to you and RiverClan for the rest of my life, I am loyal and dedicated to RiverClan and I care for it as much as I did ThunderClan in my past life."
Crookedstar was left speechless. Helplessly the huge, glossy, thick-furred, light brown tabby leader with a pale brown belly turned to look at Brambleberry for guidance as the StarClan medicine cat gazed upon Morningpaw with star filled eyes as the she-cat pondered over Morningpaw's confession.
It was nerve-wracking having to wait for a life-changing verdict from a starry being that Morningpaw hadn't ever encountered before in either her past or present life till now. There was no guarantee that the StarClan ancestor would believe her, no guarantee that she wouldn't advise Crookedstar to throw her out, there was no connection or trust between them, they were basically strangers and the only thing Morningpaw could offer was the honest truth. It was now up to both Brambleberry and Crookedstar to decide what happens now.
"You have very honest eyes," Brambleberry eventually said, looking to Crookedstar to see if he agrees.
Morningpaw turned to her leader who still looked unsure. His gaze shifted from his StarClan ancestor and who he up till now believed was a regular, if not a bit of a prodigy, RiverClan apprentice. Crookedstar eventually swallowed and nodded, having to agree that Morningpaw appeared to be completely honest in what she had said, he hadn't detected any lie coming from the flame-pelted apprentice though it was hard to wrap his head around that Morningpaw could be a reborn ThunderClan leader that had already lived through current life events.
"I think these revelations should remain between the three of us." Brambleberry advised, glancing back and forth between Crookedstar and Morningpaw, her whole countenance deadly serious. "The information Morningpaw holds for the future can bring a dangerous outcome if anything were to be revealed to the wrong cat. It's best if we all stayed quiet about it. At least for now."
Morningpaw didn't want to question the secrecy. The RiverClan apprentice easily agreed, not wanting to reveal her secrets to anyone else, at least not so soon after revealing them to Crookedstar and a StarClan member.
"Crookedstar," Brambleberry continued, "you've provided well for your Clan. The decisions you have made for RiverClan were done with the best of your ability. Continue to do great things and follow your own intuition. StarClan will be with you both."
From one blink to the next. Morningpaw found herself awake and back at the Moonstone. The small, flame-pelted RiverClan apprentice gasped as she sprung to her paws, her voice echoing around the silence of the cavern.
Morningpaw roughly sat back down as she turned to Crookedstar. The huge, light brown tabby leader was still in a sleep-like state, but Morningpaw knew that he wouldn't be for much longer. It made Morningpaw nervous to imagine what will happen when he wakes up.
Morningpaw found out that she didn't have to wait that long.
Crookedstar slowly blinked away the linger effects of being drawn into the dreams with StarClan. "Did that happen? Was what was revealed true?"
Morningpaw swallowed, her throat feeling dangerously dry as she nodded. Crookedstar's emerald-green eyes widened before quickly shrinking back into place. The huge, light brown tabby stretched as he stood up, his twisted jaw opening wide to let an involuntary yawn out.
Morningpaw felt anxiety brewing in her stomach but waited for something. Crookedstar's next decision and action. What will--
"I think we should head back now. The others are waiting and I've come to find out what I need." Crookedstar meowed.
"That's it?" No reprimand? No punishment? Just that they should head back to the others? Morningpaw prepared for the worst. Morningpaw could hardly imagine being lied to in such a big way. It would have cost her getting kicked out of the Clan in her past life.
"I've heard just about enough of it, at least for one day." Crookedstar groaned, appearing much more tired now than before. "I'm going to need some time to think about this alone."
Morningpaw nodded, finding that was fair enough. Crookedstar just learned something shocking and unbelievable. Morningpaw would have also found it unbelievable if it hadn't happened to her.
"Though expect a more in depth conversation between us later." Crookedstar reminded her.
"I know." Morningpaw winced.
Then Crookedstar began leading them out of the cavern. Both their thoughts were heavy as to what had just transpired in the realm of StarClan.

Fun Fact:
Had no idea what I was going to write! I flipped a coin on whether or not to have Morningpaw tell the truth and you can use which side it landed on.
Crookedstar doesn't have enough lives left to handle Morningpaw. She's sucking out each one and he's thinking of retiring at this point.
Brambleberry is the mom that knows how to handle her son and give good advice.
Yeah! Two cat's now know Morningpaw's secrets!!
This chapter was meant to be longer but I am also writing for other stories so this is good enough to post for a chapter for me!
