A big family gets even bigger
Chapter Fourteen: Wedding Bells
The Loud family residence was abuzz with activity one day early during the kids' summer break from school. Then again, that's because Lynn Sr. and Rita's wedding was fast approaching. Everyone was excited for the couple to be, seeing that they were finally going to be getting married at long last. The siblings living in the Loud residence, Loud and Alverson alike, were all looking forward to seeing Lynn Sr. and Rita tie the knot.
"Wait," Luan said as she and Lori spoke with Leni and Luna, "Your mom's maiden name is Reynolds? I thought it was Alverson."
"Alverson is the last name of our late biological dad," Luna explained, "Mom has been using it ever since she and our late biological dad got married ages ago. She's been using it even after dad died in that accident. Mind you, she's gonna switch to using Loud as a surname after the wedding for the most part, but she'll still be using Alverson as a pen name for when she writes and publishes one of her novels."
Clapping her hands together, Leni said, "I can't wait to see mom in her wedding dress! I heard that a tailor had to come in and fit the entire outfit onto her as a custom order! She must really wanna go all out for the wedding!"
"Uhh, Leni," Luna began, "Chances are that mom got her wedding dress custom made because it'd be the only way to get a wedding dress that would fit her. She's a pretty large person same as you and me, remember?"
"Well her size literally doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things," Lori said, "Because what does matter is the fact that she will look beautiful."
The other girls with Lori all agreed with her. "Hey Lori," Luan began, "Did you hear back from Uncle Lance and his family on if they'll be able to come to the wedding?"
Sighing, Lori said, "I wasn't able to call our aunt to see if she and our cousins had been told about the wedding by Uncle Lance. I was able to get it that her phone broke. So it literally depends solely on Uncle Lance on if he and the others will come to the wedding. And I literally doubt that they're going to be coming."
Luan had a mildly unamused look on her face. "I don't like how Uncle Lance is being so petty towards dad when dad's wedding is coming up. He's throwing a conniption over nothing, at least if you ask me."
"Well we can just grill Uncle Lance for details later," Lori said.
Gasping out of shock, Leni said, "Lori! I know that your Uncle Lance is being bad, but that's no reason to barbecue him! That's, like, totes wrong!"
"Leni," Luna began, her expression as dry as her tone, "When Lori said she was gonna grill her Uncle Lance, she was using 'grill' as a slang term meaning that she's gonna interrogate him. She's not actually going to grill him like on a barbecue pit."
Looking a bit confused, Leni said, "...Oh." Straighten up, Leni said, "Well now that the subject has been brought up, some barbecue does sound good right about now. I'm, like, totes hungry."
"Same here, dude," Luna remarked, a knowing smirk on her face. Lori and Luan could tell that Luna and Leni were thinking with their considerable bellies right now. Well, food isn't going to be much of an issue at the wedding; the bride and her biological children are all very large people, so of course there was gonna be food. It wouldn't do to let the bride be hungry on her wedding day.
Although considering how big of an appetite the bride commanded, keeping her fed might be a rather tall order. But the groom is a chef, and the owner slash manager of his own restaurant, so it might be doable after all.
Later, Lori and her biological sisters welcomed a pair of guests into the Loud family residence, those guests being Albert and Myrtle Reynolds, the father and step-mom of Rita. That will make Albert and Myrtle the grandpa and step-grandma of the Alverson siblings, and the soon to be step-grandpa and step-step-grandma of the Loud sisters. ...Wait a minute, is 'step-step-grandma' even an actual term? ...Meh, oh well.
"Yeah, Albert says I'm not allowed to give any of you girls haircuts after the incident where I had accidentally upset Rita because I tried to give Lincoln a haircut," Myrtle began.
"With all due respect dear, Rita is Lincoln's mom," Albert said, "And I'm pretty sure that parents have final say in whether or not their kids get a haircut and what kind of haircut it is."
"So you guys are going to become our grandparents after dad marries mom," Lori began.
"Indeed we are," Albert replied, "And it's rather sweet that you're already referring to Rita as your mother."
"She... she's done a lot for my sisters and I, I have to admit," Lori replied, "She's literally the best mom ever."
"Just to give you two fair warning," Lynn said to Albert and Myrtle, "Lori has a tendency to use the word literally rather often, and usually incorrectly. I'm fairly certain it's a sign of something wrong with her. I think that Lisa ought to use her super science stuff to check it out."
"Lynn, this is not the time to be a brat," Lori said, nearly snarling it, "Dad is going to be marrying mom later, and you causing trouble is not going to help with that at all."
Surprisingly, both Albert and Myrtle chuckled in amusement. "Hoo boy, you girls sure can be a riot," Albert remarked, "I don't see stuff like this out of any of Rita's biological kids."
"Just give them time," Lisa said, "Similar to how they had rubbed off on us, I am certain that we will rub off on them."
"Ooh, I bet that you girls already have stories about how you've gotten to know Leni and all of her younger siblings," Myrtle said, "I'd love to hear some!"
Chuckling a bit, Luan said, "Well, umm, me as well as Lynn and Lola didn't exactly... get off on the right foot with Leni and her younger siblings. Lori and Lisa were warmed up to them from the get go, but the rest of us took a bit of time."
Looking curious, Albert said, "Really? What was the problem?"
"Honestly sir, it was our dad deciding to make the fact we were getting step-siblings a secret," Lori said, "The reason we found out about it as early as we did is because of some storm damage that the Alverson household suffered. Having it sprung on Luan, Lynn, and Lola out of the blue that they were getting step-siblings... well, they freaked."
...
Lori spent the next few minutes going over how exactly bad things were until a heart to heart talk was had to get everyone on the same page. "So yeah, it literally wasn't the best start in the world if I'm to be honest," Lori said as she finished the tale, "My sisters and I should have been warned about the change well in advance."
"Well, umm..." Albert began, "...I can't say that I approve of how Luan, Lynn, and Lola had acted towards my grandchildren at first. But then again, you Lori do have a point on how your father really shouldn't have tried making things in that regard a surprise."
"And hey," Myrtle said, "The girls who were bad had come to realize that they were being wrong and sought to make up for it. That deserves a thumbs up at least."
Albert nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Myrtle has a point. Luan, Lynn, Lola, I can't condone your actions at first, but your actions afterwards, where you tried to make up, those show that you girls are good people. Just keep it up."
Giving Albert a salute, Luan said, "You got it!"
Turning to look at Lisa, Myrtle said, "And what's this Lori said about you Lisa being super sweet towards Lincoln right off the bat, hmm?"
"I, umm, always wanted a big brother," Lisa said, "Can you blame me for getting so excited upon seeing that Lincoln was going to become one of my step-siblings?"
"Yeah, Lisa's a little girl who thinks having a big brother is awesome," Lynn said, "As much of a super smart super genius she is, Lisa still is susceptible to the same things many girls her age are also susceptible to." Gesturing to Lisa, Lynn said to her soon to be step-grandparents, "Did you know that Lisa made a robot for Lincoln?"
"I'm sorry," Myrtle said, "A what now?"
"Yeah, Lisa can make robots," Lori said casually, "Fully functional robots too. You should see some of the super science stuff that she can do."
Pointing to Lisa, Albert said, "And she's... she's how old again?"
"I'll be turning five shortly after the wedding," Lisa replied.
Both Albert and Myrtle went wide eyed with surprise. "Umm... wow," Albert said, "Who would ever have guessed it that the family was going to be gaining a genius when Rita married that Lynn man?"
Gesturing to Lynn, Lola said, "Lynn is a girl and she's not marrying Lana's mom!"
"Lola, dad's name is also Lynn," Lori pointed out.
"No, dad's name is Daddy," Lola corrected.
Albert and Myrtle both burst out laughing at Lola's confusion. "Oh my goodness," Albert said, "That reminds me of when Rita was a little girl and she thought that my name was actually Dad. Wowee, does that bring back memories!"
"For the record Lola," Lisa began, "Our father's real name is Lynn Sr. Why else do you think that our sister named Lynn is referred to as Lynn Jr.?"
Shrugging, Lola said, "I thought that the 'Jr' part stood for jock runner, Because Lynn's into sports, and she also runs around a lot."
Sighing, Lisa said, "We need to educate you on a few things it would seem."
"To be fair, Lisa," Lori began, "Leni literally made a similar mistake as what Lola made just now."
"I... I mean seriously, Lori," Lynn said as she gestured to her eldest sister, "Your repeated and often incorrect overuse of the word literally is kind of worrying. You really ought to get Lisa to use her super science stuff to check you out to make sure that there's nothing wrong with you."
Giving Lynn an unamused scowl, Lori said with a hint of threat in her tone "Sounds like someone is asking for it."
Taking the hint, Lynn said with a hint of nervousness in her tone and expression, "I'll be good."
Smirking in amusement, Lori replied, "You had literally better be, Lynn. We don't want anything messing up the wedding, now do we?"
"Then explain why Uncle Lance and his family aren't coming to the wedding," Luan said, "What is the deal with that?"
"Wait a minute," Myrtle began, a hint of concern in her tone and expression, "You girls have an uncle who isn't coming to the wedding?"
Sighing, Lori explained, "Me and my sisters' dad's brother, our Uncle Lance, had for the longest time literally been at it with our dad like cats and dogs. We have no clue why they're so against one another, but it's shocking that Uncle Lance won't put it aside even for dad's wedding to mom. We're at a loss for words here."
Shrugging, Albert said, "Well look on the bright side. At least Myrtle and I showed up for the wedding."
"Even if I was searched for scissors when I came in," Myrtle remarked, sounding and looking a bit bemused.
"Well Rita was very firm about how she didn't like how you tried to give Lincoln a haircut," Albert pointed out.
Later, everyone was gathered for the wedding, which was taking place at a rented venue. The guests were limited mostly to the family of Lynn Sr. and Rita, although there were some guests invited by the bride and groom. There was also the respective dates of Lori, Leni, Luna, and Lincoln at the wedding as well. "Wait, mom told you it was okay to let Ronnie Anne come to the wedding?" Lori asked, a mildly surprised look on her face, as she spoke to her boyfriend Bobby.
Nodding once, Bobby said, "Yeah, she told me that Ronnie Anne could come pretty much instantly after she told me I could come. Ronnie Anne and Lincoln didn't even ask for it or were expecting it." Lori looked over to see Ronnie Anne talking to some of the younger Loud-Alverson sisters, with Lincoln standing next to Ronnie Anne.
Lori took note of the cute purple sleeveless dress Ronnie Anne wore to the wedding; according to Bobby who was dressed well for the occasion as well, his and Ronnie Anne's Grandma Rosa had insisted on dolling up both Ronnie Anne and Bobby for attending the wedding, even though family friends weren't exactly required to dress up for the wedding.
Family members were obligated, however, to dress up for the occasion. It was easy for the Loud-Alverson sisters Leni and Lola, as the former worked with fashion regularly and the latter dressed up all the time in nice dresses. Lori to a degree was also keen on fashion, and was able to take care of herself without any sort of help.
The OTHER Loud-Alverson sisters, however, needed guiding hands. Lola was able to coordinate with the Loud-Alverson sisters younger than Lincoln, while Leni worked with Luna, Luan, and Lynn. As for Lincoln, he was already covered for the occasion as he was outfitted in a tux sized to fit a boy of his age, height, and (very considerable) weight.
Lori actually wanted to take a picture of Lincoln and Ronnie Anne together, they looked literally perfect together dressed up all nice for the wedding of Lynn Sr. and Rita. However, the guy who was hired to be the photographer for the wedding asked for no-one else to take any photos at least until the time he's being paid for was up. So Lori was going to have to wait.
"Hey, I'm surprised that they were able to find a suit for the wedding for Lincoln to wear that was a good fit on him," Bobby said, "I mean, where do they make tuxes for kids his age and height? He's got to be the youngest and shortest person I've ever seen in a tux."
"He was fitted for his tux at a professional tailor," Lori explained, "Although the tailor was, according to mom, surprised by how big Lincoln is. The tailor was also surprised by how big mom is."
"Did he see the rest of the Alversons?" Bobby asked.
Gently shaking her head in the negative, Lori replied, "No, the wedding is being done on a bit of a budget, so Leni handled the dresses for her and the rest of the girls." Spinning around in place, Lori added, "She even did touch ups on my dress. What do you think?"
"That Leni can easily make it as a professional tailor herself," Bobby replied, "Didn't you say that she wanted to work in clothing as a career?"
Nodding once in the affirmative, Lori replied, "Yeah, Leni literally has her eye on the world of fashion. Speaking of, where is Len-"
"She's one of the daughters of the bride, you idiot!" Aggro could be heard calling out, "What do you mean she's not allowed into the wedding?!"
Sensing trouble, Lori and Bobby ran over in the direction they heard Aggro call out from. They soon found Aggro and Leni being held up by a person who checked people coming into the wedding. Leni was outfitted in a lovely sleeveless dress, whereas Aggro was dressed in a traditional men's kimono of a dark hue. Aggro also had an angry expression on his face as he regarded the guest checker.
"Hey, what is going on?" Lori asked.
Turning to face Lori, the guest checker said, "This big girl is trying to get into the wedding, but I'm trying to keep her out because no way can a fatty be allowed into the wedding."
"You're excluding me from my mom's wedding because I'm fat?!" Leni exclaimed, as angry as she was getting teary eyed.
Scoffing, the guest checker said, "Yeah right, like you're the daughter of the bride."
"She literally is the bride's first born daughter, you fatphobic jerk!" Lori snarled, "Also, all of her younger siblings are just as big, and so is their mom! Have you not even seen the bride and all of her children?!"
While Lori and Bobby joined Aggro and Leni in arguing with the guest checker, Rita came waddling over in her wedding dress. "What is going on here?!" Rita asked.
Pointing at the guest checker, Bobby said, "Ma'am, this guy won't let Leni come into the wedding because of her size."
"I'm sorry," Rita said, "But what?!"
The guest checker was dismissed, and replaced with Lynn Sr.'s next door neighbor Mr. Grouse who was aware of Rita and her biological children. As a side note, Mr. Grouse is also a fan of Rita's novels, so he warmed up to her and her biological children quickly. He was also amused by how they all had big appetites, same as himself.
Inside of the wedding, Lori, Bobby, and Aggro all sat with an upset Leni as they tried making her feel better. "Forget that jerk, Leni," Lori said, "You are literally beautiful."
"It is one of the reasons I asked you out, after all," Aggro remarked.
Leni sniffled a bit. "It's just... it's just that I was reminded of how a lot of people don't like me, simply because I'm, like, totes big."
"Yeah, the guest checker really should have been briefed on the bride and her biological children," Bobby said flatly.
Leni was upset by the treatment she got from the guest checker, but at the same time she was made to feel better due to the support from friends and loved ones. She was especially touched by how caring Lori was being to her. They have been close friends for years, and Leni was surprised that her being fat didn't deter Lori from wanting to be friends with her.
And now, after things were done for the day, Lori and Leni were going to be sisters. It made the big girl feel special to know that so many people who cared about her were about to become her family. It was, like, totes sweet.
...
The wedding ceremony itself went off without a hitch, and it was to everyone's amusement that when Rita threw the bouquet, it ended up being caught by Ronnie Anne. This made both Ronnie Anne and Lincoln blush with embarrassment, although Lincoln's sisters all thought that it was the cutest thing ever.
All TEN of Lincoln's sisters, because Lori and her biological sisters were now siblings to the Alverson siblings. The Loud family just officially got bigger, and that isn't talking about how Rita and her biological children are all rather fat. No, the Loud family now had a headcount of thirteen. That is a LOT of mouths to feed.
And some of them are rather well fed mouths, too.
After Lynn Sr. and Rita were officially married, they had the traditional first dance. After that, the guests all had a blast, although Lincoln and Ronnie Anne were getting annoyed with the playful teasing from Lincoln's older sisters. Ronnie Anne felt betrayed when Bobby joined Lori in teasing her about how she and Lincoln were now destined to get together.
"Wow, I'm surprised you all waited on the cake until after mom and dad got some," Lola said to her now official step-siblings, "I mean, I'm not big like all of you, and I am seriously wanting some of that cake."
"It's your parents' wedding cake, princess," Sam spoke up as she sat next to Luna, "So of course Luna and her crew were gonna wait."
"No matter how hungry we were," Luna said, "And believe you me, I at least was VERY hungry."
"It sucks that the knife that mom and dad were using to cut the cake broke at the handle," Lynn said, "Although I'm surprised that Aggro brought a knife concealed in a wooden stick of some kind and that knife was used instead."
"That's Aggro's Tanto knife," Lincoln explained.
Chuckling a bit, Luna said, "It was pretty tight how he lent his special Japanese knife to mom and dad so they could cut the cake while saying he 'wouldn't want the wedding of his girlfriend's parents to be ruined due to a bad cake knife'."
"That made Leni really affectionate towards Aggro," Lynn said, "Also I'm glad he didn't bring that big ol' scary studded baseball bat of his."
"It's called a kanabo," Lincoln explained.
Shuddering a bit, Lynn said, "I still remember when Ronnie Anne chased me with that thing. I was thinking that I'd be a goner if she got to me."
As the Loud-Alverson siblings talked with Sam, Lori came walking over with Bobby, Leni, Ronnie Anne, and Aggro who was wiping his Tanto's blade off with a hand cloth. "We're gonna have to wrap it up here guys," Lori said, "It's almost time to go home."
"A home for all of us now," Luna said, "I'm looking forward to it."
Lori couldn't help but smile at that. However, she was alerted when she heard a troubled sigh come out from Bobby. Similarly, Ronnie Anne looked troubled. "Boo-Boo Bear, are you okay?" Lori asked.
"Sorry babe," Bobby replied, "It's just that my family and I are still worried about Carlota. She's been missing since the day after graduation, and we STILL have no idea where she is, or if she's doing alright. We're worried sick about her."
"Oh yeah, I got the cliff notes on that from Luna," Sam remarked, "Sorry to hear that your cousin went missing."
"Are there any details?" Lynn asked.
"Well we didn't find any signs of a struggle," Ronnie Anne began, "And we remember how Carlota said that she wanted to 'find herself', or something similar to that. We're figuring that she took off on her own to do some soul searching or whatever."
Folding his arms over his chest, Bobby said, "It would have been nice at least if she had left a note or anything to at least try to reassure the rest of our family about her taking off. We're not even sure if she'll ever come back. It's why we had a missing person report put out for her. We're hoping to get Carlota back home."
The Loud-Alverson siblings, as well as Sam and Aggro, couldn't blame Bobby and Ronnie Anne for being concerned and upset about their missing cousin Carlota. There is currently no known word about Carlota's whereabouts, or her condition. All that was known was that she went missing right after she had graduated from Royal Woods High.
They could only hope for the best.
(Great Lakes City)
The Northern Street Gang had no idea what was going on. One minute, they were chilling as per usual, nothing going wrong, not a care in the world. As a matter of fact, one of the members of the Northern Street Gang had just gotten back from some act they had carried out against one of the members of Great Lakes City's local Hispanic community. He was telling the tale of his hate crime to his fellows, who were all getting a kick out of it.
It was as the night went on that things began to grow more and more terrifying for the members of the Northern Street Gang. Someone snuck into where they made their base and, as a gang member was alone when found by that intruder, said gang member had their throat stabbed in the side by said intruder, who used a quality hunting knife to do so. The intruder was about to take the hunting knife out when an alarmed cry from outside of the room alerted they were in.
Spinning around as they pulled out a gun, the intruder spotted another member of the Northern Street Gang. Without missing a beat, the intruder shot at the second gang member, striking them right in the head and dropping them to the floor of the abandoned warehouse that was made into the hideout that the Northern Street Gang was using as their base of operations. That gun shot alerted the rest of the members that someone had snuck into their hideout.
The intruder wore a concealing outfit, consisting of a baggy pair of dark colored pants, a baggy hoodie with the hood up, a black gaiter mask worn up so that it covers all of the lower face, a pair of shades, and gloves. Barely any of their person could be seen uncovered, and from that the members of the Northern Street Gang, as they were ended by the intruder one by one, were barely able to tell that their unwanted and unexpected visitor was Latino.
They tried to fight back, but the members of the Northern Street Gang were taken by surprise by the mysterious and murderous intruder. Barely any of them had guns on hand when the intruder came into their hideout, and they were taken out by headshots before they even knew where the intruder was. The other gang members had to scramble to find guns to be able to fight back, but that haste had made the lot of them easy pickings for the intruder.
Within the span of thirty murderous minutes, the whole of the Northern Street Gang had been wiped out to a man. Great Lakes City was no stranger to gang violence in its history, it's nowhere near as peaceful and crime free as Royal Woods which is three hours away by driving. But the wiping out of the whole of the Northern Street Gang is at an entirely different and higher level than anything else that had ever been seen before in the past.
Twenty-seven gang members, not one of them Hispanic, laid dead on the floor in their abandoned warehouse hideout. Dead at the hands on one lone killer who is Hispanic. After everyone who was in the Northern Street Gang had been vanquished, the lone figure took out an item that they had prepped ahead of time, an item that they had made absolutely sure they never touched without their gloves on so as to not give away who they are.
It was a blank solid white index card, with one side drawn up to resemble a playing card from a deck of fifty-two. In the upper left corner was a capital letter 'B', in the lower right corner was a capital letter 'M', and in the middle was a hand mirror that had the mirror part broken by a large and rather notable crack going down from upper left to lower right. The murderous intruder laid the drawn up playing card on the corpse of a member of the Northern Street Gang.
After laying their calling card, the intruder figured that they had time before the police showed up; the abandoned warehouse hideout was located on a far side of Great Lakes City, and that area did not typically have police presence unless something major occurred. The intruder searched the warehouse hideout for anything that might be of use. The intruder actually had a war to fight, and a war necessitated that one had sufficient supplies.
The intruder ended up taking what all ammo for their gun that they brought in that they could find, two new guns that they found, a few melee weapons that the gang members they killed had, what all money they found (the Northern Street Gang had built up some funds from their anti-Hispanic hate crimes), and some jewelry that the dead gang members had on them at the time that they were all killed. After collecting what treasure they could carry away, the intruder left.
The intruder was able to sneak their way away from the abandoned warehouse hideout and over to where a parked car was waiting. They got into the car with the keys they had, tossed all of their stuff which they put in a bag into the back seat, got into the driver's seat, turned the car on, and drove off. Police didn't even come by until several minutes after the intruder had carried out their rather grim and very dark task, a task that saw twenty-seven gang members dead.
By the time that the car pulled up to a house in a residential neighborhood area of Great Lakes City where the least amount of crime overall occurred, the intruder had since removed their gun and left it in the car, as well as lowered their gaiter mask and removed the sunglasses. They walked up to the house and knocked on the door, and was greeted by the sight of a perky goth white girl about the age of Lori Loud who lives in Royal Woods.
"Carlota!" the perky goth girl greeted as she saw the intruder who had just murdered the whole of the Northern Street Gang, with said intruder revealed to be Carlota Casagrande, "What took you so long with your shopping trip? There's a breaking news report that the whole of the Northern Street Gang had been wiped out by that violent vigilante Broken Mirror!"
Carlota gave a gentle shake of her head. "...Sorry, I was in shopping mode. Can I come back in while you tell me all about it?" The perky goth girl nodded in agreement, she was letting Carlota stay with her while she was in Great Lakes City, having no idea that Carlota is reported missing in her new home town of Royal Woods. The Hispanic young adult woman needed to... take care of some final business... in Great Lakes City first.
Business that the perky goth girl had no idea that Carlota was up to.
END, CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Author's notes;
This chapter sees the wedding of Lynn Sr. and Rita at long last. Mind you, there's some concern about Lynn Sr.'s older brother Lance and his family not coming to the wedding, but the biological daughters of Lynn Sr. are able to meet their step-grandparents Albert and Myrtle. Also, I was able to sort of fix the mistake of having Rita and her biological children using the last name Alverson rather than Reynolds by making Alverson the last name of Rita's first husband.
There's also some concern when the guest checker tried to keep Leni from entering the wedding due to her being big, but that was resolved and Leni was let into the wedding. The ceremony went off without a hitch, and the Loud-Alverson families at last become a single unit. The family soon had to go home from the ceremony, but as they were now a single family, they were looking forward to life together as one cohesive unit.
...But there are concerns over in Great Lakes City in the meantime, where the entirety of one of the non-Latino gangs in the city are wiped out by a lone murderous intruder. After the intruder kills all of the gang members and raids their hideout for stuff, they leave and return to a safe place long before the cops even show up to the scene of the crime. Said intruder is eventually revealed to be Carlota, who is still missing in Royal Woods at the moment, but an old name is attributed to Carlota here.
The next chapter will see Lori manage her siblings while Lynn Sr. and Rita are on their honeymoon, as well as touch on the apparent dark crusade that Carlota returned to Great Lakes City in order to carry out. Until then, take care.
