Chapter 1

Life has changed, all Leah knew was gone that he knew of. The population had been typical but still she felt out of place. Life continued being the same. She brushed her long dark hair then putting it in the drawer reflecting on what she had been through. The thoughts in her head remembering how she could have been beaten or raped if she wasn't strong enough to fight them off.

Leah left her place heading to the bar to get a drink across the road. The same men were sitting at the barNone of them ever bothered her or tried pestering her except for the random people who would show up. "What is it now pretty lady?" The gentleman behind the bar asked her.

"The usual." He made her drink and she sat there looking at her phone. Random people came in and her attention was still on her sensed someone sitting next to her but didn't bother to look up.

"Hey pretty lady," a random guy on the other side came up to her.

"Fuck off," She said annoyed.

The other guy sitting next to her snickered. She felt the guy grab her despite what she said. She turned around grabbed him flipping him on the ground with her foot on his chest. His arm was not positioned correctly as she put pressure on it hurting him."Guess you didn't hear me."

"Ok," the guy said still in pain. She let him go getting off him.

"Not bad," the guy sitting next to her sipping his drink.

He got a good look at her staring a moment. When he looked at her he noticed something different about she set the glass down he started to notice it moving a little on his seemed familiar with this before.

Leah noticed the man more as she put her full attention on him having her eyes meet his. "Did you move that?" He questioned her.

All she saw was a man with short dark hair, dark eyes with it kind of sticking up some. He seemed built wearing a black jacket.

"Maybe."She looked into his eyes a moment.

Leah started to get up almost forgetting to pay. The guy stopped her reminding her. "I got it, " the guy said standing up giving him the money.

"Thanks pal," Leah got up starting to leave and the man watched her as she started to walk away. A few men started to follow her and he quickly got up walking towards them. He grabbed one from behind punching him. The other guy went to grab her. Leah turned around watching the man fight them. He was strong. Then noticed three claws came out of his knuckles as he was fighting them.

They were on the ground after he had fought them. Leah looked at him impressed. "Not bad."

"Others like me aren't very common these days. Where are you from?" He asked her.

"Out of town, I kept myself out of the light." She looked at him.

"My friend Charles would have liked you." He said remembering what he had been through.

"Never heard of him and thanks."She said leaving.

He was about to ask her name but she was already gone. Since he had been brought backfrom where he was he had to readapt to this the memories were there and sometimes haunted him. The people he cared about or loved was the only choice he had was to move like him existed but finding them were challenging.

The next morning, Leah woke up getting ready for the day. She had a feeling that the man she met wouldn't be the last time she would run into him.

Leah continued with her day working at a library during the day. She did more research on mutants knowing she was educated on them quite a bit. Leah didn't admit that she knew the man was known to be the seeing pictures she realized that was the man who she came across last night.

She was sitting down reading a book about heard the door open seeing the man she ran into last night. He looked directly at her seeing her sitting off to the set her book down. "You following me?"

"Didn't know you worked here." He said simply.

Logan didn't admit out loud but she was beautiful. Maybe, it was because he hasn't seen a decent looking woman like that in quite some time since Jean.

"Right, you Looking for something?"Logan approached her wanting to know more about her and how no one was aware she even existed. Everyone he knew or loved he couldn't save was dead.

"You can move things?" He asked her.

"Let's not talk about this here." Leah looked around then turned her attention towards him.

"You got a name?" He asked her.

"Leah." She could read his thoughts but not as well as Jean. She could move things and was lead him to another room knowing someone was up front with both went to another room to talk.

"How come We didn't know about you?" Logan questioned her.

"You got a name as well?" She asked him.

"Logan."

"I was hidden my adoptive family kept me hidden. I lived like normal, went to college didn't use any of my abilities unless I was in harms I got out that's when I taught my self how to use my abilities and defend myself." Leah explained.

"You still could have had help." Logan reminded her.

"Could have but didn't." She said wishing she did.

"It seems like there is only a handful of us left.," Logan said remembering not seeing too many here.

Before they could speak they heard a scream causing them to quickly flee the room to the front. Two men were holding guns trying to rob the place.

Logan got in front of Leah facing the men. "Put the gun down." He warned him.

"Come closer I'll shoot," the guy yelled.

Logan moved closer and the guy pulled the trigger shooting him causing the other woman to scream running out of the store.

"Logan." Leah got close trying to help him. She saw him healing himself and getting up fighting them. The other guy tried getting away and she made the door move hitting the guy in the head knocking him out. Logan took her hand leading her out with him taking her to where he was staying.

He unlocked the door guiding her inside. "You're safe here."

"It's big and warehouse like." Lena said looking around. " How long have you been here?"

"A couple of years." He answered her.

Logan watched her walking around checking out everything. To him, she didn't seem alarming giving him no signs to think otherwise.

"There's still people out there who hate us." Leah said looking at him.

"I know that all too well." Leah nodded and started to leave.

"Where you off to?" Logan asked her.

"Home for now, I'm going out bar hopping with friends tonight." She answer him.

Logan watched her leave until he was alone. He sat down on the couch looking at the pictures he had from Xavier's school of who he once knew. He looked at the picture of Jean sighing at it like he missed her. Part of him felt like he still failed. Time helped him get through the memories that still sometimes would haunt him.

He picked up a picture he had of just Jean looking at it. "What am I suppose to

do now?" He asked himself.

In that moment, it was like he heard Charles voice in his head telling him "Protect her."

"Last time I did that I failed." He said like he heard the voice in his head.

"Their deaths were not your fault. Do what you do best." After a while, he sat and thought about it. Then realized that he would protect was the first person he talked to in a while and maybe the first person he would consider a friend. She was like him and it was nice to run into another mutant who wasn't trying to kill him.

The evening set in, Leah was drinking with a couple of her friends. Sometimes they would go off and talk to other guys but it seemed like she was the one who would get them out of were everywhere when she looked around the bar. Periodically she would see a mutant here or were around but kept themselves not as noticeable.

A guy approached her and she recognized him as being a friend she knew from where she worked before. They hugged and talked a little bit watching her friends dancing in the guy was attractive and built and always been really nice to her.

Logan came in the bar and noticed her talking to a guy at her table looked her direction. It was easy for him to find her knowing she didn't go too far. So he left her alone going to the bar sitting down. He asked for a beer sitting there sipping it allowing whatever woman to approach him.
