Mina's Trial (Part Three)
After Ilima returns from the Pokemon Center, he and Ed were now facing each other.
"I hope you're ready, Ed." said Ilima as he pulls out a pokeball.
"I am." replied Ed as he pulls out a pokeball.
"Gumshoos, go!" said Ilima as he throws Gumshoos pokeball and releases it.
"Come out, Gigalith!" said Ed as he throws Gigalith's pokeball and releases him.
"Gumshoos, use Crunch!" said Ilima. Gumshoos leaps at Gigalith with its mouth opened and its teeth glowing white.
"Iron Defense!" said Ed. Gigalith glows white and his body shines; Gumshoos bites Gigalith, but not doing much damage due to his defense being increased. "Now use Smack Down!" Gigalith forms a golden ball of energy and launches it at Gumshoos, hitting it, and dealing damage.
"Gumshoos, Mud-Slap!" said Ilima. Gumshoos sprays a stream of mud out of its mouth and it hits Gigalith, dealing super effective damage.
"Gigalith, Rock Slide!" said Ed. Multiple gray rocks appears in front of Gigalith and he launches them at Gumshoos, hitting it, and dealing damage, as well as making it flinch. "Now use Tackle!" Gigalith leaps at Gumshoos and rams it, knocking it to the ground, unconscious.
"Way to go, Ed!" said Eddy.
"You're doing great!" said Maxiley. Ilima returns Gumshoos to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Gumshoos." said Ilima. He puts Gumshoos pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Smeargle, go!" He throws Smeargle's pokeball and releases it. "Okay, Smeargle, use Energy Ball!" Smeargle forms a green ball of energy and launches it at Gigalith, dealing super effective damage, and weakening his special defense.
"Gigalith, Power Gem!" said Ed. Gigalith fires a light pink beam of energy out of the crystal on his head and it hits Smeargle, dealing damage.
"Smeargle, use Surf!" said Ilima. A wave of water comes up from below Smeargle and it rides it towards Gigalith; it washed over Gigalith, dealing super effective damage, and knocking him out.
"Don't give up, big brother!" said Sarah.
"I don't believe Ed has any intention to, Sarah." said Edd.
"You bet your sweet bippy I don't." said Ed as he returns Gigalith to his pokeball. "You did great, Gigalith." He puts Gigalith's pokeball and pulls out another one. "Go, Ampharos!" He throws Ampharos' pokeball, and releases her. "Use Thunder Punch!" Ampharos runs at Smeargle while electricity surrounded the end of her arm and she hits Smeargle with it, dealing damage to it; static surrounds Smeargle's body.
"Smeargle's paralyzed." said Edd.
"Smeargle, try using Energy Ball!" said Ilima. Smeargle fights through its paralysis and launches a green ball of energy at Ampharos and hits her, dealing damage, as well as weakening her special defense.
"We can play ball, too; Ampharos, use Electro Ball!" said Ed. Ampharos forms a ball of electricity between the ends of her arms and she launches it at Smeargle, hitting it, and dealing damage to it.
"Use Flamethrower!" said Ilima. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Smeargle from attacking.
"Use Power Gem!" said Ed. Ampharos fires a pink beam of energy out of the gem on her forehead and it hits Smeargle, knocking it out.
"Ed did it!" said Jimmy.
"Not yet, Jimmy; Ed still has one more Pokemon to beat before achieving victory." said Edd. Ilima returns Smeargle to its pokeball.
"You did well, Smeargle." said Ilima. He puts Smeargle's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "You're doing well, Ed, but you still have to beat my last Pokemon. Komala, go!" He throws Komala's pokeball and releases it.
"Ampharos, Brick Break!" said Ed. Ampharos runs at Komala and strikes it with her arm, dealing super effective damage.
"Komala, Wood Hammer!" said Ilima. Komala leaps at Ampharos while the log it was holding glowed green and it hits Ampharos with it, dealing damage to her; Komala receives recoil damage from Wood Hammer.
"Ampharos, use Charge!" said Ed. Ampharos becomes covered in sparks and her special defense increases.
"Komala, use Slam!" said Ilima. Komala leaps at Ampharos and hits her with its log, damaging her; she drops to one knee.
"Ampharos, Discharge!" said Ed. Ampharos releases multiple bolts of electricity from her body and they hit Komala, dealing massive damage due to Charge increasing the power of Discharge and knocks Komala out.
"Ed won!" said Maxiley.
"Great work, Ed!" said Eddy.
"I knew you could do it, big brother!" said Sarah. Ilima returns Komala to its pokeball.
"You did great, Komala." said Ilima. He puts Komala's pokeball away and walks to Ed. "You trained your Pokemon well, Ed."
"Thanks, Ilima." said Ed. Ilima gives Ed an orange petal, along with pokedollars; he turned towards the others.
"So, which of you will be facing me next?" asked Ilima.
"I will battle you, Ilima." said Edd.
"As soon as my Pokemon receive treatment, we will have our battle." said Ilima. He walks away to the Pokemon Center.
While Edd was waiting for Ilima to return for his Pokemon battle with him, he does his usual data analysis and evaluating the best strategies to use.
Twenty minutes later, Ilima returns and takes his position across from Edd to begin.
"I hope you're ready, young man." said Ilima.
"I believe I am sufficiently prepared for our battle, sir." said Edd.
"Then let us begin." said Ilima. He takes out a pokeball and throws it, releasing his Gumshoos; Edd also takes out a pokeball and throws it, releasing his Magnezone.
"Magnezone, please use Thunder Wave!" said Edd. His Magnezone releases a blast of static electricity that hits the Gumshoos, causing its body to start twitching.
"A little paralysis won't stop Gumshoos." said Ilima. "Gumshoos, use Bite!" His Gumshoos tries to move, but it turned out that a little paralysis did stop Ilima's Pokemon.
"Magnezone, please use Electro Ball!" said Edd. Magnezone forms a ball of electricity under its body and launches it at Gumshoos, hitting it, and doing lots of damage thanks to the increased difference between the two Pokemon's speeds.
"Gumshoos, use Super Fang!" said Ilima. This time his Gumshoos was able to fight through the paralysis and bites down hard on Magnzeone, taking away half of Magnezone's stamina.
"Magnezone, use Mirror Shot!" said Edd. His Magnezone focuses the sunlight shining on its body into a beam of energy that hits Gumshoos, doing enough damage to knock it out.
"Nice one, sockhead!" said Eddy.
"That was so awesome!" said Maxiley. Ilima sighs before returning his unconscious Gumshoos to its pokeball.
"Should've expected such strategy from you." Ilima says to Edd. He puts Gumshoos' pokeball away and pulls another one off his waist; he tosses it, releasing his Smeargle.
"Magnezone, please use Light Screen!" said Edd. Magnezone forms a square-shaped barrier in front of him.
"I see you recall Smeargle using Flamethrower." said Ilima.
"Indeed." said Edd. "This will reduce the damage done by it."
"Well, let's see if it will be enough." said Ilima. "Smeargle, use Flamethrower!" His Smeargle fires off a stream of flame from its tail, hitting Magnezone, dealing super effective damage; bits of fire appear on Magnezone's body.
"It seems my Magnezone is burned." said Edd. "Chances are he will be rendered unconscious soon, so it would we wise to do what I can with it while Magnezone's still able to battle; Magnezone, please use Flash Cannon!" His Magnezone fires a silvery energy blast from its eye that hits Smeargle, damaging it; its body sags a little bit while Magnezone takes damage from its burn.
"What's wrong with Smeagle?" asked Sarah.
"Flash Cannon has the possibility of weakening its target's special defense." said Edd.
"Smeargle, use Extreme Speed!" said Ilima. Smeargle moves quickly at Magnezone and rams it; and even though it didn't do a lot of damage, it was still enough to knock it out.
"Magnezone!" shouts Ed.
"Don't worry, big guy." said Eddy. "It'll be okay."
"Keep battling, Double-D!" said Jimmy. Edd nods before he returns his Magnezone to its pokeball.
"You were wonderful, Magnezone." said Edd before he puts his Pokemon's pokeball back on his waist; he pulls another one off and tosses it, releasing his Toucannon.
"Toucannon, please use Hyper Voice!" said Edd. Toucannon lets out a large squawk, releasing a powerful soundwave that hits Smeargle, and thanks to its weakened defense, the attack was enough to knock it out.
"Good one, Double-D!" said Maxiley.
"One more to go!" said Eddy. Ilima returns his Smeargle to its pokeball.
"You take a good rest." said Ilima. He puts Smeargle's pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off; he tosses it, releasing his Komala.
"Komala, use Rollout!" said Ilima. Komala tucks itself into a ball and rolls into Toucannon, dealing super effective damage.
"Toucannon, please use Rock Smash!" said Edd. Toucannon slams his beak hard onto Komala, dealing super effective damage, and also lowering its defense. Komala rolls back towards Toucannon and slams into him again with twice as much power as the last time.
"Hurry and end this before Komala comes back around again!" said Jimmy.
"Toucannon, please use Beak Blast!" said Edd. Toucannon flies up into the sky, then comes down towards Komala while his beak becomes superheated and drives down onto his opponent, dealing enough damage thanks to Komala's weakened defense to knock it out.
"Double-D won!" cheered Ed.
"Knew he could do it." said Eddy.
"So did we." said Sarah as she gestures to herself, Jimmy, and Maxiley. Ilima returns his Komala to its pokeball.
"I'm proud of you for trying." said Ilima. He puts Komala's pokeball back on his waist and walks over to Edd. "You trained your Pokemon well, Double-D."
"Thank you." said Edd. After Ilima gives Edd his orange petal, along with some pokedollars, he looks towards Eddy.
"I believe you're up next." said Ilima.
"You got that right." said Eddy.
"We will battle once I get my Pokemon treated." said Ilima.
"I'll be waiting." said Eddy.
While Eddy waited for Ilima to return, he picks what Pokemon he was going to use in his battle.
Twenty minutes later, Ilima returns, and Eddy gets ready for his battle.
"Are you ready, Eddy?" asked Ilima.
"That rhymed." said Ed.
"We know, Ed." said Sarah.
"I'm ready when you are." said Eddy. Ilima takes a pokeball off his waist and tosses it, releasing his Gumshoos while Eddy takes a pokeball off his waist also and tosses it, releasing his Poliwrath.
"Poliwrath should have the type advantage." said Edd.
"Poliwrath, use Brick Break!" said Eddy. Poliwrath brings down one of his hands onto Gumshoos, delivering a powerful chop that does super effective damage.
"Gumshoos, use Super Fang!" said Ilima. Gumshoos runs towards Poliwrath and bites down on him, taking half his stamina.
"Poliwrath, use Submission!" said Eddy. Poliwrath grabs Gumshoos and drive both of them into the ground, dealing damage to himself, and enough super effective damage to Gumshoos to knock it out.
"Nice!" said Maxiley.
"Keep it up, Eddy!" said Ed. Ilima returns his Gumshoos to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Gumshoos." said Ilima. He puts Gumshoos' pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off; he tosses it, releasing his Smeargle.
"Poliwrath, use Body Slam!" said Eddy. Poliwrath leaps up and comes down with all his weight onto Smeargle, damaging it, and afflicting it with paralysis.
"Smeargle, use Energy Ball!" said Ilima. Smeargle fights through paralysis and fires off a green ball of energy at Poliwrath, hitting him, and dealing super effective damage.
"Poliwrath, use Brick Break!" said Eddy. Poliwrath brings down another overhead chop onto Smeargle, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Two down, one to go!" said Maxiley. Ilima returns his Smeargle to its pokeball.
"You rest up, Smeargle." said Ilima. He puts the pokeball back on his waist and pulls off his last one; he tosses it, releasing his Komala.
"Poliwrath, use Dynamic Punch!" said Eddy. Poliwrath gathers energy into his fist and punches Komala, doing super effective damage.
"Komala, use Wood Hammer!" said Ilima. Komala brings up his log as a massive aura of green energy surrounds it, and brings it down onto Poliwrath, dealing enough super effective damage to knock him out.
"No!" said Eddy.
"Don't worry, Eddy." said Edd. "You have two Pokemon left you can use." Eddy takes a breath and lets it out to calm himself down.
"Thanks, Double-D." said Eddy.
"Eddy's Pokemon adventures have really helped his self-control." said Edd.
"He's less temperental than he was before he, you, and Ed went to the Sinnoh region." said Jimmy. Eddy returns his Poliwrath to his pokeball.
"You were great, pal." Eddy says to Poliwrath's pokeball. He puts the pokeball back on his waist and pulls another one off; he throws it, releasing his Noivern. "Okay, Noivern; use Air Slash!" His Noivern flaps her wings, releasing a massive air blade that hits Komala, doing critical damage, and knocking it out.
"He won!" said Ed.
"What did you expect?" asked Maxiley. "He is the Lily of the Valley Conference champion." Ilima returns his Komala to its pokeball.
"You did well, Komala." said Ilima. He puts Komala's pokeball back on his waist and walks over to Eddy. "You, much like your friends, have trained your Pokemon well."
"You know it." said Eddy. Ilima then gives Eddy an orange petal and some pokedollars.
"We all got our orange petals." said Jimmy.
"Next stop; Lush Jungle." said Edd.
"Oh boy; I get to see Mallow!" said Ed, excitedly, making Sarah giggle.
The Eds, Sarah, and Jimmy have defeated Ilima and won their orange petals. Now they must go to Lush Jungle where they must win their next petals.
Meanwhile, at Malie City, Eddy's brother, who was wearing his sunglasses to cover his black eye, was facing Kahuna Nanu.
"Krokorok, Earthquake!" said Kahuna Nanu. His Krokorok jumps up and lands on the pier, creating an earthquake that hits Eddy's brother's Alolan Graveler, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Oh, come on!" exclaimed Eddy's brother.
"Okay, that's the third time you lost." said Kahuna Nanu. "Are you really Eddy's brother? I don't believe a trainer like you can be related to someone of Eddy's potential."
"Yeah, I'm related to that little runt!" replied Eddy's brother as he returns his Graveler to its pokeball. "I'll be right back." He begins walking to the Malie City Pokemon Center; as he does, he sees an attractive woman with long, sandy blonde hair, wearing a light blue sundress and sandals, walking down a sidewalk; grinning, he walks over to the woman.
(Seconds later)
"Sudowoodo, use Slam!" the woman shouts to a brown, treelike Pokemon with arms that had three green orbs on the end of each of them, and a pair of legs. The Pokemon, now known as a Sudowoodo, swings one of its arms and hits Eddy's brother, sending him flying into the ocean. "Thank you, Sudowoodo."
"Sudo." replied Sudowoodo. Seconds later at the pier, Eddy's brother climbs onto it, soaking wet, growling.
