Well...One thing that is great about basically using the Palladium Adventure from the book is that I don't have to think very hard while writing particularly the part with the Death Traps as I just have to look at what the book says and put my own spin on it also I just realized the Palladium PDFs when you open them again after closing on a certain page take you back to the same page you left off on which is really handy in this particular instance and really irritates me that other PDFs from other RPG brands can't to the same it's a real pain to have to hunt for the page I want because I can't remember where it is
Shirley the Mutant Goldfish couldn't bring her dolly which she used as a scooter for these tests, instead the Retainer provided a simple square wooden board with wheels on it and said she was allowed to use this to compensate for her disability of not having any legs...Shirley really didn't like this as she had to drag herself around with her arms instead of propelling herself by her tail, but she realized her dolly might be too cumbersome in a place like this
As the door closed behind the door Shirley had chosen and she heard the sound of bolts closing (It's blase at this point) Shirley saw the door on the opposite side of the room bore the inscription 'The Mouth of the Dragon'
And she quickly saw the reason for that particular inscription, in the middle of the room was a cylindrical pedestal...On the top of it was beautiful statue of a dragon made of bronze...It was facing directly toward her...There was a hissing noise coming from it…
Shirley had to 'stand' on where her knees would be if she had legs to see inside the mouth and she felt the blood drain from her face when she saw a red glow!
Quickly pulling herself away and off to the side...She saw the dragon spurt some kind of hot burning liquid spraying the ceiling, the door she just came through and that section of the floor with a burning jelly that made Shirley gasp in horror as she realized she recognized what it was because her Scientist Father had taught her...It was napalm!
As soon as the flow stopped the pedestal rotated one eighth of a turn so the Dragon was facing the left corner next to the door. (The opposite corner Shirley had retreated to) And she heard the hissing again…
Seeing the same process again...Shirley clutched her head and realized if she didn't figure out the puzzle soon she would become charred fishsticks! She looked at the opposite door again...Mouth of The Dragon...Oh Geez did she actually have to do something with the mouth of the dragon?
Then looking at the dragon she observed the whole process took half a minute, first hissing than glowing than spurting then one eighth turn than half a minute of wait.
With a gulp, Shirley reached into the dragon's currently calm mouth, she could feel it vibrating and the heat...And then she felt a small opening just large enough for her finger…
Gulping again she poked her finger into the hole and she felt a switch...She flipped the switch and heard a loud CLICK! The opposite door opened, Shirley breathed a sigh of relief having survived the first test.
Lovelace decided to take the penultimate door...After she slithered through she heard the door bolts closing behind her the door on the opposite side boor the word 'Inside'
The first thing Lovelace noticed was the two inch thick rope hanging from the ceiling about an inch from the floor.
As Lovelace was looking around she felt a tremor that sent a shiver up her serpentine spine...The floor was moving! It was slowly moving away from the right wall and going under the left wall!
The gradually vanishing floor revealed a 120 foot deep shaft at the bottom were six foot long, very narrow, sharpened spikes! A few skeletal remains were between the bristling spikes as Lovelace gasped in horror as there had to be like...Hundred of spikes down there! Lovelace quickly grabbed onto the rope as the only other choice was falling!
As soon as the floor had fitted flush into the left wall, Lovelace felt a vibration from the rope, she looked up and saw the rope was being raised through the hole in the ceiling, Lovelace felt herself begin to cry as it was clear the rope would completely disappear in two minutes.
"What do I do? What do I do?" The Garter Snake Mutant asked feeling herself begin to panic
She then looked at the inscription on the door again it said 'Inside'
"Inside what?" Lovelace asked "What am I supposed to do…" But then she realized the very thing she was clinging to...Using her Snake tail to bring the end of the rope closer to her she saw exactly in the middle of the rope was a small piece of wire...She pulled on it she heard a 'Click' and the rope stopped being pulled upwards and the floor quickly slid back into place, the door on the opposite side opened...Lovelace hissed in relief having survived her first test…
The Inside Death Trap is interesting because the game book explicitly says Mutant Animals with wings will NOT be admitted into that room...For reasons that should be obvious now that you've read it...Presumably if your Mutant was a Species of flightless bird they wouldn't count also I do like to fit the Death Trap with the theme of the character if I can in particular Dana and the theme of 'Solitude' as the thing she fears
