"Scorpion, Baraka, Sub Zero." Shang Tsung began to list off the remaining competitors "You three are the remaining representatives for Outworld. As for Earthrealm, Nightwolf and Liu Kang remain."
"Lord Raiden." Liu Kang whispered, "I see you've brought your friends."
Raiden nodded, "The tournament could very well conclude here." He explained, "If so then we must all be prepared for what happens next."
"Nightwolf!" Shang Tsung called out "You will face Baraka."
The two fighters both confidently approached each other, Baraka impatiently attacking Nightwolf as the two met. The tarkatan had tackled Nightwolf and sank his pair of blades into the sides of the Matokan. Nightwolf kicked him off but couldn't stand up from the pain of his pierced hips.
Baraka began taunting him, "How does a pathetic human like yourself earn a mantle?" He questioned, "Then again, that mantle equals to dog heap compared to a tarkatan."
"The Matokan have much more pride than you savages." Nightwolf fired back.
"Your tribe is weak; I hope that mantle dies with you." Baraka stood atop of Nightwolf, laughing as he sharpened his blade with the other.
"Don't kill him!" Yelled Sonya who came running at Baraka which despite her much smaller figure she managed to knock Baraka over with a shoulder barge.
"This again?!" He growled, "I'll have your head." Baraka began running at Sonya only to be stopped by Jax who grabbed him by waist and suplexed the tarkatan to the floor.
Meanwhile Raiden was aiding Nightwolf to his feet. "Thank you." Nightwolf said weakly.
"Raiden your friends are breaking the rules of the tournament!" Shang Tsung pointed out, "You dishonour the Elder God's by this interference."
"The Elder God's never condemned your fatalities." Raiden argued.
"But Kung Lao's interference went unpunished?" Shang Tsung asked, his point being that Raiden's allies had been breaking more rules in the tournament than the rest.
"What of it? I sent him back to the Wu Shi academy."
"Oh? Are you sure?" Shang Tsung rhetorically asked, a smile stretching across his face.
"What did you do with Lao?!" Liu Kang yelled.
"I gifted him to Goro."
"Take me there!" An enraged Liu Kang ordered.
"You must defeat me first." Sub Zero said, stepping forward with the desire of fulfilling his contract in assassinating Earthrealm warriors. However, Sub Zero was unaware of what happened to Cyrax and Sektor, merely thinking they had been murdered during the tournament, for he had not seen them since the first round.
"No Sub Zero, I have a different challenger for you."
"Who?" He asked only for a second later to be stabbed by a spear which impaled through his chest.
"Me." Came the quick response from Scorpion.
Scorpion dragged Sub Zero into his clutches, his boiling hands wrapped around Bi Han's neck.
"I finally have you... Murderer."
"What... are you... talking about?" He gasped out, confused by the entire situation yet angered by the attack.
"We both know!" He screamed, "My wife," he listed victims as he beat the cryomancer "My son!"
"The Lin Kuei... Never attack- "
"LIAR!" He interrupted, tearing off his mask which revealed a flaming skull for a head.
Sub Zero forged an ice sword and charged at the spectre, only for his sword to melt by the raging flames emitting from Scorpion.
"Scorpion, wait." He pleaded.
"DIE!" He cried out as flames erupted from his mouth, burning Bi Han until only ashes remained.
Scorpion felt no satisfaction from acquiring vengeance, just more sadness which cooled down his anger. He turned to Liu Kang.
"Fight!"
"No." Scorpion refused, "I only came for Sub Zero."
"We struck a deal with Shang Tsung." The voice of Quan Chi spoke inside Scorpions head. "Follow his order as repayment for setting you up with a fight with Sub Zero." He advised.
"We?"
"I said fight!" shouted Shang Tsung.
"Leave me alone!" Scorpion cried out before suddenly sinking into a portal which led to the Netherrealm.
Shang Tsung let out a sigh "You're lucky Liu Kang, you should've had to face Baraka and Scorpion..." He announced, "Fine, to Goro's lair you go."
Shang made a gesture with his hand which created a portal at Liu Kang's feet, which the Shaolin slowly descended into.
