EDITED: no proof-reading done
Keefe's POV:
I seated myself right next to the door, waiting for Foster to arrive for our date.I didn't know if being nervous and excited at the same time was normal in this sort of situation, but it was uncomfortable, with the big knot of emotions it made in my gut.
"Relax Hunkyhair, everything's going to be alright. No need to tap your finger on the floor as if you were waiting for you Death Sentence." Ro told me smugly.
I glared at her with a frown.
"Shut up." I ordered sternly, though I could feel my cheeks turn a bright red, which would probably make her take me less seriously. But I wasn't backing down.
She cackled, shaking her little green ponytails on each side of her head.
"I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon." she answered, looking down to her pointy purple nails.
I rolled my eyes but I didn't answer. It was useless, fighting with the Ogre princess.
Suddenly, a knock resonated from behind the door.
I stood up as quick as lightning, feeling a grin spread across my face.
I ignored Ro's snickering and opened the door wide to reveal Foster.
She was as beautiful as ever, with a a simpls ice blue dress and her honey-blonde hair flowing in the blowing wind.
I smiled, my cheeks probably even redder than earlier.
"Hey Foster." I greeted lamely.
She grinned, uncovering her beautiful smile.
"Hey Keefe." she replied cheerfully.
My eyes sparkled with that emotion I always felt around Foster.
"Oh come on lovebirds, I can't stand any more cheesiness right now. Though I thought I would never say this one day, Fitzphie was actually a little less cheesy." Ro said from behind my back, probably fake-vomiting.
I just rolled my eyes at her and slipped my hand into Foster's as she cringed slightly ay Ro's words.
Ro mumbled something about 'thinking that she shipped us before but that now it had now turned into a vomit fest' as I closed the door behind me.
"So where's the beach, then?" Sophie asked, giggling nervously.
"You'll see." I told her in a mysterious voice right as she she laughed.
Foster and I walked in comfortable silence to the beach, just enjoying the view of the sea from where we were walking.
I then noticed she had slipped a necklace around her neck and had a bracelet wrapped around her wrist.
"Nice necklace by the way." I complimented.
Her face fell, making it less illuminated.
"It's actually the last gift my old friend gave me before she ran away." she answered with a fake smile plastered on her lips.
Oh my God, I just ruined the whole thing, I thought to myself angrily.
"Foster, I'm so-" I started but was cut off my Sophie.
"No Keefe, it's good." she said, her voice firm.
I looked at her worriedly but stayed quiet as we walked in silence for a few moments.
"So, what was your friend's name?" I asked, trying to break the heavy tension in the air.
She looked up at my ice blue eyes with a smile, as if she was remembering happy memories.
"Annabeth Chase." she answered absent-mindedly.
I smiled back at her and we walked onto the beach.
I had just found it this morning and I wanted to share it with Foster.
Plus, it would be so great to see her take her mind off things. Everyone had changed since we won against the Neverseen, even me, but it had impacted Foster the most, in my opinion: her eyes seemed more dull than before and she blushed a little less often. Or maybe that was because she was more confident than before.
"Well, this is it!" I screamed, weapping my arm around Foster's shoulders.
I suddenly took off to the water across the sand, and ran with my legs splashing in the water.
"Keefe!" I heard Foster laugh happily behind me.
