Author's Note:
Sorry again for not uploading, got caught up with life and doesn't help, I'm started university plus writer's block.
To add on, I change the story's description. It's still the same story idea of War of the Worlds.
Well finally here it is.
The blue sun shined onto the young soldier who's currently guarding his post. Taking off his helmet to allow his head to breathe before fixing up his position. Whilst doing so, he heard footsteps approaching him from behind. Quickly turning around to see a soldier whom he recognized despite a visor covering their face. "Elijah, there you are." Said the soldier pressing a button on their helmet to undo the visor.
"Ain't you supposed to be on guard duty too?"
"Nope" Ethan replied, accidentally kicking red Martian soil onto Elijah. Letting out an agitated grunt, before dusting off himself. Feeling a hand being placed over his shoulder which he couldn't help but smirk to his brother.
"Having fun on duty?" Ethan asked, getting a blank stare back as he placed his rifle against the wall of sandbags before leaning on them. Afterward, a vibration played on both their waist coms.
Pulling up the message, Ethan read out loud, "All personal report to building 25 for briefing per First Sergeant. Time now." Ethan let out a sigh as both the soldiers got on his feet, making their way towards building 25.
"Hope we go on an actual mission instead of this boring shit." Said Elijah, getting a chuckle from his brother as they were about to make their way into Building 25.
Waking from his slumber in a panic, scanning around, realizing it was just another flashback. Beginning to clam down before letting out a sigh. Looking up he noticed Lily was sound sleep besides the occasional sound she made similar to what dogs do while sleeping which got him thinking.
"How did my life get to me, being stranded on this fuckin Planet with this alien dog thing." Elijah shifting into the most comfortable sleeping position he could find inside the small foxhole.
Once the sun fully raised, the two packed their gear to begin movement. Following behind, Lily took notice of Elijah's size, maybe it's the gear giving the appearance but even without it the tip of her ears were nose level to him. Afterward she began inspecting his uniform, similar to Cornerinan's military uniform with a flag on the shoulder but unlike their uniforms which are issued in gray, his uniform was multiple shades of green, black, and brown. Looking more closely at the flag he is bearing, which she doesn't recognize.
Suddenly her ears pick up a faint sound quickly approaching. Grabbing onto Elijah's shoulder, getting his attention.
"Huh?" Elijah muttered, seeing Lily holding her snout shut, being the Cornerinan version of humans placing a finger to the lips signaling to be quiet. Confused at first before he himself heard it. Pulling Lily to the nearest tree, signaling her to kneel down. The ground began to vibrate as the sound grew louder. A shadow now engulf them as a large aircraft flew over, eclipsing the sun. Elijah in awe, but Lily knew what this meant.
"They're rearming."
Elijah turned back to Lily. Signaling her to let them know, they got to move but halted upon hearing voices. Again taking cover behind a tree, slowly peaking out to scout ahead. Spotting an squad, but instead of Apes or Lizard soldiers, it's a pack of canines bearing the same coat of arms on their uniforms of those he killed saving Lily. In the back was another Husky, not too different from Lily. Seeing they're out numbered, Elijah watched them march out of view before jogging away, Lily following behind.
Believing they were far enough, Elijah grounded his ruck via quick release on the straps. As Lily was trying to take off her helmet, the sound of metal clanking was heard. Turning around, she saw Elijah aiming his rifle at her.
"You're one of them? Are you?!" Elijah demanded, finger on the trigger.
Lily raised her paws in surrender, her ears pinned back, Elijah seeing this lowered his rifle slightly but kept it pointed at her. Suddenly, Lily saw her chance and lunged at Elijah, hoping to disarm him. But Elijah was quicker, and he swung the butt of his rifle at her. It connected with a loud thud, sending Lily reeling backwards.
She stumbled and fell to the ground, clutching her side where the rifle had hit her. Elijah quickly bound her with para cord before placing her upright on a tree. Taking a look at her, knowing she won't be going anywhere. Making his way to his ruck, retrieving an MRE. He emptied the contents of the ration onto the ground, grabbed the bag of chili mac, and tore it open.
Lily's powerful nose caught a whiff of the food, and her stomach growled. Despite the pain she was endured, she couldn't help but feel hungry. Elijah's tac-coms with sound ampier picked up the growls. Reaching over, he tore open a bag of crackers and held them out to her, gesturing for her to eat.
Lily hesitated at first, but her hunger got the better of her. She bit the crackers from Elijah's hand and began to eat, still eyeing him warily.
"Thanks." Lily thanks him unenthusiastically, not realizing that her words are now being translated for Elijah to understand.
"You're welco-"
The two stared at each other in shock as they realized they could understand what the other was saying. For a moment, they were speechless, their minds reeling with the implications of what had just happened.
"Y-you know what I'm saying." Elijah said slowly, still in shock.
"Y- yeah I had a translator this whole time." Lily replied, sounding shocked as he is.
"Then why am I barely understanding you!" Elijah yelled softy.
"Because it had to decrypter your language first."
Elijah knelt down to Lily, unsheathing a knife and pointing it towards her, bringing it just inches away from her snout.
"Now that you can understand me. I have a few questions for you. First, who are you? Second, are you with them?" he demanded, his voice firm and commanding.
"My name is Lily Huskton, and I'm from Corneria," she replied, momentarily forgetting that Elijah was not from Lylat.
"As for your second question, no, I'm not with these assholes. You saw them attacking me," she added, her eyes fixed on the blade that was still pointed at her.
Elijah pulled the blade away, intrigued. "Then why are you here? I assume this isn't Corneria you said you're from."
Lily paused before answering. "I was taken here against my will, intercepted by these Venomians while on a trip to meet with a team of researchers. They threatened to torture and rape me if I didn't comply with them."
Elijah's expression turned grim. "And what did they want you to do for them?"
"To research and develop weapons. I believe they kidnapped me because of my work for a company called Space Dynamics back on Corneria," Lily explained, her voice shaking slightly.
Elijah slowly nodded, believing what she's saying could be true, as it does sound confident.
"You mentioned someone or something named Vemonian? Who are they?"
Letting out another sigh, knowing she will have a lot of explaining to do. Taking a deep breath, she started the history of the conflict between Corneria and the Vemonians. Everything from Andross' exile to the wars fought. Elijah took every detail in mind, showing interest. Once Lily finished explaining, Elijah cut the bounds, regaining trust in her. Elijah pulled out another MRE, handing it to her.
"Once you're done, we'll begin movement again."
Lily nodded using her claws to cut open the MRE.
Damn, six months since I posted. I know this chapter is shorter than usual. I wrote a whole chapter, but then decided last second I to use it for a later. The main purpose of this short chapter was to shine some light on these two characters, but I got something up my sleeve to write. Hope y'all enjoyed this chapter and HMU or comment if you got any questions or anything to say. I love interacting with people, specially if you're interested in my work.
