Caitlin woke to sound of the door opening several hours later. Sitting up half way she saw Sherlock walking in, who was quickly realizing he had failed at his attempt to be quiet. She rubbed her eyes as he walked over and sat next to her on the bed. Pushing some of her hair behind her ear Sherlock murmured quietly,
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you."
Offering him a very tired smile Caitlin yawned.
"It's alright. What time is it?"
Standing to start undressing, Sherlock replied,
"It's almost 1AM. You've been asleep for awhile now."
Lying back down, Caitlin watched while Sherlock went about his nightly routine. Yawning again she just muttered,
"Sorry. I'm just extremely tired. I've been up exceedingly late these past few nights trying to finish everything for the show."
Snuggling into Sherlock once he had climbed into bed, Caitlin quietly uttered,
"I'm sorry for walking out earlier. Seeing that music box kinda freaked me out. It brought back too many memories."
Wrapping Caitlin in his arms Sherlock kissed her before responding just as softly,
"I shouldn't have brought it here."
As Caitlin closed her eyes she muttered that it was alright before she drifted off again. Feeling Caitlin toss her arm loosely around his waist Sherlock lightly kissed her forehead before closing his eyes. Listening to the quiet sounds of Caitlin's breathing, it wasn't long till he was asleep as well.
Caitlin stood at the window while worrying her bottom lip with her teeth. Sighing she turned away and started to pace as she twirled some of her hair absentmindedly. Tonight was her showcase. After running around her flat like a chicken with it's head cut off for the better part of the morning, she had come down to the boy's flat to try and relax. Too bad it wasn't working. Letting out an impatient growl Caitlin came to a halt before walking into the kitchen. Maybe some tea would calm her nerves. Shoving some of Sherlock's equipment out of the way, Caitlin took a seat at the table and started to sip her tea.
About an hour later Caitlin lay upside down in Sherlock's chair, legs hanging over the back as her head dangled off the seat, eyes closed. Not opening her eyes when she heard the door open Caitlin missed the amused expressions on the faces of the two men observing her. Hearing a chuckle, Caitlin smiled before opening her eyes to meet John's, the aforementioned standing next to her. With a grin he asked her,
"Doing alright Caitlin?"
Swinging her legs around before sitting up, Caitlin put a hand to her head. She waited for the headrush to end before standing and replying,
"I'm fine John, just trying to relax for tonight."
Giving her shoulder a squeeze, John's grin widened.
"That's right, your show is tonight. Don't you need to go get ready?"
Looking at the clock Caitlin gasped. Slipping her shoes on, she laughed,
"Thank you John, I didn't even realize the time! I better get moving but I'll see you both there right?"
Right as John started to say yes, Sherlock who had been silent till then responded "No," eyes never leaving whatever he was looking at under the microscope.
Coming to a halt Caitlin stared at him in shock as John sighed, shaking his head as he sunk into his chair. Stepping closer Caitlin asked Sherlock,
"What exactly do you mean 'No'? Why would you not come?"
Finally looking up to meet Caitlin's gaze Sherlock stated very bluntly,
"Why would I? It is of very little interest to me."
Hearing John groan Sherlock raised a questioning eyebrow and continued to look at Caitlin with an indifferent expression until he saw it. Her body language completely changed, and her eyes filled with hurt and disappointment. He had the feeling he had done something wrong. What though was the question. Hearing Caitlin suck in a sharp breath Sherlock's expression changed when her spine straightened and she all but yelled at him,
"I wasn't expecting you to be interested, but I thought you would come to be there for me! For ME Sherlock! After all that has been happening, this is the first good thing that comes my way, yet you can't even support me by being there?! This is my job and what I love to do and I hoped you would be there because I love-"
Cutting herself off as a sob attempted to break through, Caitlin held it back before turning with a quick "Just forget it. Bye John." Running out and up the stairs, both listened to the door slam before Sherlock ventured a small,
"Not good?"
"No Sherlock, NOT GOOD!"
Stomping away from the taller man John just muttered obscenities under his breath and went to his room to change before doing something he might (though probably not) regret later.
