Hey everyone! I'm so sorry it's been so long since I've updated! I've had the worst writers block and could not figure out what to do! My personal life has also been insane but I've been bitten by the inspiration bug so hopefully I can get more chapters to you sooner rather than later.

John muttered to himself about shit coffee as he neared Caitlin's room. Eyes widening as he heard crying, John chucked the disgusting beverage before hastily opening the door.

As soon as she heard the door fly open, Caitlin all but screamed as she cowered into Sherlock.

"Are you an idiot?!" Sherlock growled at the other man before shushing Caitlin.

" Shhhh it's alright. It's only John. It's alright, I promise."

Standing completely still John watched as Caitlin's eyes peeked out at him from the gap between Sherlock's arms.

"J-John?"

John couldn't believe it. He wanted to cry, to rush forward and shout in glee that Caitlin was awake but he contained it. Approaching the bed slowly John murmured,

"It's me Caitlin."

Once the good doctor reached her bedside Caitlin turned from Sherlock to look at him.

"I can't believe it," Caitlin choked out, tears still rolling down her cheeks.

Leaning forward, John placed a light kiss on the top of her head before straightening back up. Clearing his throat hastily while blinking back tears John said,

"Now then, how are you feeling right now?"

Giving the tiniest of smiles as John immediately snapped into doctor mode Caitlin replied.

"Hungry, thirsty and in a lot of pain."

"As you should be," John responded before asking "And your pain scale?"

"Is 12 on the scale?" Caitlin wheezed.

Sherlock who had been watching the entire exchange, Caitlin's hand still in his, quickly snapped to attention.

"Why didn't you say anything?!"

As Caitlin's eyes widened in fear when his voice rose Sherlock yelled at himself internally. Using a softer tone this time he brushed the back of her hand with his thumb.

"You should have told me."

Wincing as she tried to ease back into her pillows, Caitlin groaned before murmuring quietly,

"I didn't want to let you go. I was afraid that if I did it might just end up being another dream."

Sherlock's gaze softened, turning to concern when Caitlin let out a pain filled yelp. Pushing a cup of water into Sherlock's hands, John all but ordered him to help Caitlin drink it. Guiding the straw to between her lips, Sherlock watched, eyebrows knotted together as Caitlin winced while taking small sips.

"While you do that, I'm going to turn up her morphine drip as well as her fluids." John had stated, all the while fiddling with the machines.

"I thought only the doctor could do that," Caitlin wheezed, taking one more sip before letting out the loudest cry yet, tears forming in her eyes.

"I AM a doctor, and right now I'm going to go have a conversation with the idiot claiming to be yours. Sherlock turn her on her side or the wound on her back will reopen."

Watching as John stormed out Caitlin tried to laugh but instantly regretted it.

"He certainly is quite huffy and bossy isn't he?" Caitlin hissed through gritted teeth.

Helping Caitlin roll on to her side Sherlock smirked. "Haven't you ever noticed he's always been that way?"

Caitlin gave him a pained smile as some tears leaked down her face.

"He is right you know," Sherlock stated while gently brushing away her tears. "Your doctor really is an idiot."

Watching as Caitlin's eyes fluttered before closing, the last thing she said before the morphine took over was "You think everyone is an idiot…"
