Walter struggled with everything they were saying. The things they were saying made no sense, no matter how he tried to make it fit, his mind rejected it all.

"Stop, stop, just stop it." Walter cried out. "You're confusing me."

Everyone stopped talking, to give him a moment.

Walter looked frustrated as he lay in his bed trying to make sense of what was said.

"Okay, so, you are saying on May 8th we were in some kind of explosion and it has damaged my memory so I don't remember anything since April 29th?" Walter asked as he looked at Cabe.

"No, it happened on May 9th." Cabe told him, trying not to rush any more info than he asked for so as not to overwhelm him.

Walter shook his head.

"On May 8th, I came over to Kovelsky's to talk with you." Paige told him softly.

Walter lay there with confusion on his face.

"Why can't I remember it?" Walter mumbled.

"Good morning everyone." A doctor said as she moved into the room.

"Oh, Dr Syvian. It's good to see you." Paige said as she looked over at her as she walked up to Paige's bed.

"It's good seeing you are still with us. The hospital sent my office a notice that you were pregnant so I thought I better come check up on you since I was on call anyway." Dr. Syvian smiled.

"Oh, that was very thoughtful. Thank you." Paige smiled.

Walter frowned.

"Is there some reason I need to be in the same room?" Walter asked a bit rudely.

"I figured you'd prefer it that way son." Cabe told him.

"Why would I want to be in the same room with her? They nearly destroyed Scorpion Cabe." Walter complained.

"Walter?" Paige said with a catch in her throat.

"Look, I'm sure you and Tim are going to be very happy since you are pregnant. But I really don't want to be forced into this situation." Walter told her.

"Tim?! Why in God's name would you think I'd be pregnant with his baby? We were never intimate and we broke up, like a year and a half ago." Paige asked.

"Broke up? No, I mean, I know you were mad at him for extending his time overseas." Walter frowned. "Then who is the baby's Father?" Walter asked.

"You are, genius." Happy told him briskly.

"What? Are you on drugs? Paige and I have never been intimate." Walter said with venom.

"Wait, Walt, don't you remember? You guys dated for almost a year before you broke up last April." Cabe told him.

Walter's eyes closed as he grabbed his head.

"T-too much, too much. I can't think straight." Walter moaned. "If we were dating, then why don't I remember it?"

"Don't you remember Happy and Toby's wedding?" Paige asked as she reached over and took Walter's hand.

"Of course I do. I apologized to Ralph and then I explained to you that I loved you and that was why I fired you. Because I didn't know how to handle what I felt. I-I told you, I knew you didn't feel the same way about me." Walter frowned even harder as pain shot across his face trying to recall. "It's so garbled." Walter said as he bounced his head off the pillow. "Cabe interrupted us. Said we had a mission and we got trapped on an island. But, things are kind of, not making sense. You wanted me to dump my EQ and come up with a plan to save us. We got rescued. Scotty called about their baby. I remember you asked if there was a bottle of wine. But, gaps and things are jumbled."

"Walter, after you told me you loved me, I told you that I loved you too." Paige told him softly with love in her face.

"Yeah and then we caught the two of you making out in the closet." Happy laughed.

Walter looked to Ralph and he reached out and took his hands.

"Ralph, I-I, I know you are probably mad at me cause your Mom quit Scorpion, but you are the only one here I am not upset with that I trust. What they are telling me, is it the truth?" Walter asked.

Ralph nodded.

"Walter, we were pretty happy for almost a year. Mom had some issues, she found it more difficult then she thought it would be, both as your intermediary with the world and as your girlfriend." Ralph told him.

"I think we can skip some of that for now." Happy told him.

"No, Walter asked me. I'm going to tell him the truth just like I'd want him to do for me. So if you don't like it, you know where your husband is." Ralph told her angrily.

Happy's eyes went wide as she took a step back.

"But you did screw up, thanks to mixed messages. And with Mom trying to teach you about white lies. You wanted to spare her feelings about going to that lecture after you got back from Louisiana. So you told her it was canceled. But then you went and asked stupid Flo if she wanted to go. And then when you should have explained it to Mom you didn't and you kept acting all weird. And then when Mom finally found out she was hurt and broke up with you. Sylvester being the baby he is, got mad at you and everything fell apart and they all walked out on you. Which you seem to remember." Ralph told him.

"When I came home from school May 8th you and Mom were making out on the couch. You'd said that you and Mom made up at Kovelsky's and you were back together and going to get some therapy to help your relationship. We went to our favorite Taco restaurant for dinner. On the way home you noticed someone was following us. You figured out later it was Tim who had rented the car. And he also painted the word slut on Mom's windshield. You and I went out and cleaned it off and then you both took me to school." Ralph explained.

"I don't recall any of that. Why can't I remember?" Walter held his head as tears ran down his cheeks. "The most important part of my life." Walter said.

Paige looked at everyone as tears ran down her cheeks.

"Could you give Walter and me a few minutes please?" Paige asked quietly.

"I'll come back after my rounds to check on you Paige." Dr. Syvian told her before leaving.

Happy, Cabe and Ralph slowly exited the room to give them some time.

"Do you really not remember our life together Walter?" Paige asked with dread as she reached out to him.

Walter shook his head until her hand touched his cheek and he stopped. His eyes slowly opened.

"So, who's the Father of your baby?" Walter asked.

"Walter, you are the only one I've had sex with in a long time. Since I met you, you are the only one I have truly wanted. You were so hung up on what would happen if things didn't go right, that you wouldn't take a chance on us. Of course with how things turned out, I guess in some respects you were right to fear it." Paige told him.

"Perhaps, but that isn't really a good thing to do. I could feel the chemistry we seemed to have. And then that evening we kissed as a test. It scared me, it was the most powerful thing I had ever felt. I wanted to consume you so bad." Walter told her.

"Oh Walter, we made such a mistake with things." Paige said simply.

"Doesn't that mean you don't want to try and fix this?" Walter asked, frowning.

"No, oh no Walter. I want to fix our relationship so much. It is why I came to find you at Kovelsky's. Walter, nothing matters as much as our relationship. I never wanted us to be apart this long. Toby had this stupid idea about Centipede and I let their excitement sweep me up. It was supposed to just be a way of helping you see that they could contribute more to the company. And every week it just got more complicated and I saw that it wasn't what Toby said but seemed to be some plan to make you suffer. When Homeland offered us the contract that was when I had enough. I came over to see you but you had gone with Richard to do something." Paige told him as Walter reached up and took her hand in his.

"The next day when I found out that they had accepted the contract behind my back without reading it I was so furious. And then Tim walked in the door saying he was the new Homeland handler. I just had enough and quit. That's when I was going to find you and not take no for an answer." Paige smiled.

"An answer for what?" Walter frowned.

"For us, you and me. Then I had to run to the restroom and got sick. And after I got back I had ice cream and salted nuts. Should have been my clue that I was pregnant. You were a little hesitant but you were onboard with us starting over. And then Tim came in and tried being a jerk. We left and went to my condo, the rest you know from Ralph. Other than you agreed to stay that night at the condo because Tim had made a kind of threat before he left Kovelsky's." Paige smiled.

Walter had watched her lips move the entire time she talked and he just smiled during it. His hand slowly reached down and touched Paige's stomach. Paige smiled as she moved her body a bit closer for him to touch.

"Much too early to feel anything yet." Paige told him.

Walter smiled sheepishly.

"Actually I was testing what you have been telling me. If we hadn't been intimate I don't think you'd have responded the same way." Walter explained.

"Walter, do you really think I would lie to you about something like this?" Paige asked while feeling hurt.

"No, but, if you guys were still mad at me and seeking to hurt me more, then that would be a good way to do it." Walter said softly.

"That's true enough." Paige smiled sadly. "Walter, I'm only going to be honest with you going forward. I'm promising you right here and now, never to lie about anything to you again."

Walter slowly nodded.

"There is one thing you could answer for me." Walter said as he casually moved his hand back and forth across her stomach. "I don't see anything around it but I hear your voice in my head, was it on the plane as we crashed on that island?"

Paige frowned.

"What did I say?" Paige asked.

"Buckle up nerd." Walter told her.

Paige giggled instantly as she shook her head.

"That's what I told you the night we got back to the Garage, after we were rescued from the island. I'd asked you if we had any wine and you thought we had a bottle that someone had given us after a case. So I told you to go open it and I'd meet you in the Loft. You turned as you were opening it and you saw me step into view. I was only wearing one of your white dress shirts and I said it as seductively as I could." Paige adopted as close to the same pose lying down as she could. "Buckle up, nerd." Paige told him as she repeated the words in the exact same manner.

Walter's eyes went wide as the memory seemed to come back to him for a moment and he saw her in the Loft with the setting sun's light causing her to glow.

"Oh." Walter said, with his voice full of wonder.

"Were you able to recall it?" Paige grinned.

"For a brief moment." Walter nodded with a large grin.

Paige smiled.

"I'm so glad, that means it is still in there. I wonder what is causing you not to remember. We had such an amazing time together Walter. It was a bit turbulent as well with problems because of your lack of understanding your EQ. But I'm not letting that be a problem anymore." Paige promised him.

"So what is this explosion that put us in here?" Walter asked.

Paige explained what happened that day of the explosion.

"Did Tim do this?" Walter asked.

Paige shook her head.

"Apparently not. He's passed numerous polygraphs. He's admitted to all the other things he did though. He's currently in jail." Paige smiled. "Cabe thinks it might be Florence."

"If I had a computer I could pull up the Garage server and find the video file for that one camera outside. That should tell us." Walter told her.

"Yes, I already did that for them. That's why Cabe thinks it was Florence." Paige explained.

"So, the reason you were so mad with me and left is because I had asked Florence to go to some lecture, but didn't tell you?" Walter asked as Paige nodded. And if I forgave you and you forgave me over this, does this mean that I made up with the guys?" Walter asked softly.

Paige shook her head.

"Happy wants to make things right with you. She and I made up shortly before you regained consciousness. She's really sorry about it and only wants to make things right." Paige told him.

"I don't know if I want things made right. I treated them all like family. I brought them in out of the cold. I gave them employment, I gave them a safe place to learn, grow and adapt. I gave them a good share of Scorpion, I gave them the money I should have paid back the loan for the Garage when I got the bail money back. And that was how they repaid me." Walter said, getting more upset.

Walter grimaced and grabbed his head.

"Walter?" Paige asked as she reached up and stroked his cheek.

"Pain, lots of pain." Walter said as he began beating his head against the pillows. "Make it stop, please make it stop."

Paige grabbed her bed rail and pressed the nurse call button. "Nurses' Station." A woman's voice came across.

"Please help. Walter's experiencing deep pain and crying for help." Paige said.

The assistant could hear Walter's cries easily.

"I'll get the nurse." The woman said as Paige heard the click of the call light.

"Hang on Walter." Paige told him.

Walter's voice rose up and Cabe, Ralph and Happy moved back into the room hearing him now.

"Walt, what's wrong son?" Cabe demanded as they moved around the beds.

"Pain, horrible pain Cabe. Please make it stop." Walter begged.

The nurse came running into the room just then.

"Hang on Walter." The nurse said as she pushed past everyone and grabbed the IV line and slipped the needle of the syringe into the line and injected the drug.

"What caused this?" The nurse asked as Walter continued to thrash.

"I don't know. Walter woke up a short bit ago and we were talking, trying to help him realize how much time has passed. He thinks this is April 29th." Paige told her.

Walter was starting to grow quiet and his thrashing slowed as the drug took effect.

"I'm Jennifer by the way, I'll go call the doctor." Jennifer told them as she moved out of the room.

Greetings! I hope this finds you well! 2 more chapters left. Not sure what to start next. Callan isn't finished for 2003 but isn't at a horrible place to stop if I start it. I've got 2 chapters done so far for the next Knight's Tale, but need to write a couple of more before I feel it would be ready. WUTB is closer to being done but...not sure about it. Unconsciously Conscious has a new chapter but is still too far from finished. Oh well, still got 4 days so, we'll see.
