It was about one and a half hour after the incident.
Police had closed down the road, firefighters had taken controle of the flames and the paramedics did their job. They had found three bodies on site.
A male pitbull who was on unconscious and not in life danger. They could immediately smell the alcohol coming from him. They also helped a shocked and crying truck driver who helplessly saw the car hitting his truck from behind and the aftermath of the crash.
Unfortunately the other two bodies on site where not alife anymore.
A paramedic schnauzer walked to his supervisor, also a schnauzer and a king Charles spaniel police officer.
''Well Hastings, what are you finds?'' the supervisor asked.
''Well, like we suspected the Pitbull was very drunk. He has a permille of almost 12,3% alcohol in his body blood tests showed. He is unconscious but he will wake up soon. They have put him into a ambulance and he is on his way to St. Brumm's hospital as we speak.''
The paramedic schnauzer then sighed and continued. ''In what used to be that orange Jimny we found the body of a male Border-Collie, around 36-38 years of age. Impaled in his seat by a steal pole pipe that went right through the window and into his lungs and possible damaged his artery, meaning he bleed to death. He was death before the impact on the truck we assume, but post mortem study has to confirm that. Further we found a female, also a Border-Collie around 35 years of age. Dead presumably by the impact and the flames. And how we found her was quite strange sir.''
The police officer wrung his eyebrows. ''What do you mean by that?''
''Well we found her laying on the backseat. For some reason before the impact she jumped from her own seat onto the backseat. I think she tried to escape but failed in doing so. She is also curled up like she is holding on to something.''
The paramedic supervisor nodded. ''Tragic, it's really tragic'' he sighed''. ''Are we able to get their bodies to the morgue for identification''?
''Yes sir, the firemen are sawing the roof of. Because of the exploding it will be a bit difficult to inditifate them. The man's face is almost completely gone by the fire and the female is almost melted into the backseat because of the heath''.
''Poor people. So young and then their lives being taken away by a drunk moron. Everytime it's tragic when something like this happened and i just wished it would't happend this often'' the police officer sighted.
''Well, since there are no more surviviors i will send the ambulances away so they can be used somewhere else'' the supervisor said.
Suddenly a other paramedic, a shiba inu, came running towards the three. She panted and tried to catch her breath quickly.; ''…ugh sir…sir.''
''Yes Cathy, what is it?''
''We found another body in that car''. She said still trying to cathc her breath.
''What? Where" the paramedic schnauzer asked? ''We looked everywehere and didn't found another body''.
''It's a child…also a border-collie. Around 10 years old''.
''Goddamnit!'' the police officer shouted emotionaly. ''Please don't tell me that's true''.
''I'm sorry sir. It is'' Cathy said, now fully recovered.
''Where did you find the child?'' the supervisor asked.
''Under his mother sir. That's the reason she was curled up. She was protecting her child from the impact by holding him tight''.
The police officer shed a tear. ''Motherly love. Shit, i have to call mine today. That's the saddest thing i heard in my career. Both gone now, so sad''.
''No sir'', Cathy said hastily. ''The child survied. He is unconscious and not responding but he still has a pulse and is breathing''.
The supervisor perked up by hearing this. ''Get that child in that ambulance and drive as fast as you can to the hospital. We need the get to the ER immediately!''.
