Meanwhile at MacKenzie's house, Calypso had convinced MacKenzie to leave the bedroom and join her for a cup of tea in the kitchen. After his calmness returned it was time to get to work. She and MacKenzie spend the day looking through his parents administration files to see what they had to do. Calypso found their will, life insurances, bank detials, etc. and all other important things.
Calypso was calling all kind of businesses to cancel the parents subscriptions and also informed his mum's manager. He already knew what happend because Frisky told him but shared his condolences to MacKenzie and he would send some flowers and something to him. Because MacKenzie was now under Calypsos and Bandits supervision, untill his family would arrive and make a decision, she was allowed to take care of these things. But she would do everything toghether with MacKenzie and Bandit.
The problem was that she had to explain a lot to MacKenzie what everything was and meant. So she spend the whole day explaining him what every paper was for and what they would do. She also spent time planning the funeral. They went to old picture books aswell to select pictures. When it became to much for him, she would stop and rest from time to time so he could have a bit of distraction.
MacKenzie later found his mum's puprle address book with all her contacts in it. Calypso informed MacKenzie about his family. He told her a family history rather then just some addresses or phone numbers. She listened attentively and with interest to what he had to say.
He told her that his father came from the south island of New-Zealand and was raised on a sheepfarm near Dunedin. His mum and dad met eachother when they both studied and lived in the outerparts of Christchurch. After they got married they moved to Richmond in Tasman on the south island. That was also the place where MacKenzie was born years later and from where they moved from to Brisbane. His dad worked on a small sheep farm and his mum worked at a department store. He remembered his dad once telling him about his mum losing her job because the department store went bankrupt and that at the same time his dad was tired of being a farmer. Doing a job his father told and teached him to do instead of what he really wanted to do.
Is then that they decided to start a new life in Australia were they settled in Brisbane and lived more happily. Australia had offered them more changes in life and could provide a better future for their son. His dad had his own business and was a mechanic who exclusively only worked on classic cars, a project he truly loved. His mum worked as accountant and head salesperson of a travel agency. She was specialized in organizing travels to New-Zealand and worked together on the same department with Bluey's aunt Frisky who was also a salesperson but more specialized in selling travels to Indonesia and Malaysia.
His grandparent's from his fathers side (his father's parents) were both dead. MacKenzie never met his grandmother and his grandfather he couldn't remember as he passed away when MacKenzie was just three years of age. By that time they already lived for two years in Australia. His dad also had a younger brother. But all MacKenzie knew about him was that he lived in the United States, somewhere in Texas. He and his father fell out a long time ago and did not speak to each other anymore. MacKenzie knew nothing about his uncle.
His mum was originally from the north island and grew up in Hamilton. Both of her parents were still alive. His grandfather was only 73 but suffered from a muscle disease and lived in a nursing home in Wellington. His grandmother who was 71 years of age lived in sheltered housing right next door to the nursing home. His mother was a middle child and had a older brother that lived on Rhodes, a Greek island, along with his Greek wife where they run a busy hotel and tavern. And then he had a aunt, his mothers younger sister. She lived in Napier, New-Zealand with her husband a three children. His mum was still very close to her sister and they texted eachother almost every day and called at least once a week. She was also on good terms with her brother but their contact was much lesser.
MacKenzie took the family picture of the wall to show it to Calypso and also to have a better look at it himself. It brought him back some happy memories as he starred at it. On the picture his whole family, that he knew, were standing on a beach near Tauranga on the Northen island. It was a road trip they all took together. He stood inbetween his parents on the left side of the picture, his aunt with her husband and their three children also in front of them, his grandparents in the middle and his uncle (his mum's brother) with his wife on the right side. All of them Border Collies, except his aunt's husband who was a New Zealand Heading dog, and his uncle's wive who was a Greek Kokoni dog. All of them together, the very last time. It was taken just a year before his grandfather moved to a nursing home and it was the last time he had seen his uncle.
It was made three years earlier when they visited his aunt around christmas. Every summerholiday he and his parents would go to New-Zealand and stay there with his aunt for three or four weeks. His grandparents used to come over to and stayed also there untill they couldn't anymore due their age. Mostly around march his aunt would come over to Australia to stay a week or two to visit. With christmas he and his family would go visit their aunt every other year while in the other years his aunt and her family would come over to them. He looked sad at the picture he was holding. He knew that this was over and wouldn't happen again.
Calypso hanged the picture back on the wall and thanked MacKenzie for sharing the story with him. She knew it was difficult but also good to talk about anything at this point. She looked again in the purple book and now knew which name she had to find. She found his aunts number. MacKenzie's family still didn't knew what had happend. Calypso decided to use the house phone instead of her mobile phone. That way she hoped MacKenzie's aunt would take the call if she noticed a number she knew was calling her instead of a strange call from a unknown number from Australia.
MacKenzie didn't look forward to it. He knew that it would be emotional and that his aunt would be sad. And he knew that at some point she wanted to speak to him and that he had to take the phone. Not that he didn't like his aunt or didn't wanted to speak to her, but he didn't wanted to go through all the emotions again, hearing her probably in a emtional state and he knew that was about to happen.
Calypso dialed the number and waited for a while. After some time she sighed and was about to hang up the phone as suddenly the call was answered from the other side: ''Hello stranger. You're talking with the Collie residence'' a female voice answered. It sounded joyfull.
''Good afternoon miss Collie. You're speaking with Calypso Sheppard.''
It stayed quiet for a little bit untill the female talked again: ''Oh..hello. Sorry i thought someone else called. I was expecting my sister on the phone.''
''I understand and it's not surprising as i am calling you from your sister Charlotte her house.''
''Ah, you see. I thought i recognised the number. That is why i was expecting her to hear. Haha for a moment i thought i had read the number wrong.''
''Am i speaking with Mabel, Charlotte's sister?'' Calypso asked for confirmation.
''Yup, you do. How can i help and is Charlotte there too?'' Mabel said.
''I come to that in a moment. Do you have the time and am i not disturbing you at the moment?" Calypso continued.
Mabel now felt a bit at unease. Someone she didn't knew was calling her, knew her name and was in her sisters house calling her from there. ''uhhh... yeah. I'm home. What can i do for you?'' she said a bit harsh.
Calypso cleared her throat and took a deep breath. ''I am terribly sorry to tell you this but i am calling you to inform you that...again i am so sorry but.. Charlotte and Josh have died. Sorry''.
It stayed quiet on the other side of the line. After a minute Calypso asked: ''Hello... are you still there?''
MacKenzie was sitting on the cough. He was looking at Calypso who was sitting on the old desk chair behind the desk in the living room. He looked worried and sad as he overheard the conversation from one side. He could image how his aunt reacted right now .
After a while Mabel came back. In a stuttering voice she asked: ''Sorry. I must have misunderstood you. Could you repeat that please?''. So Calypso did. Calypso then heard the phone drop on the ground on the other side.
''Hello. Mabel. Are you still there?'' she said louldy trough the phone. She listened and suddenly heard a loud scream coming from the other side followed by soft sobs. Calypso understood the situation and turned to face MacKenzie. She gave him a soft smile to comfort him and as a way of lying that his aunt took the news well.
''What is she saying Calypso?'' he asked.
''She is progressing it at the moment'' she answered.
MacKenzie pretended that he understood, but he didn't.
Calypso looked at him untill she heard the phone on the other side being picked up again.
''Are you sure that they are both gone? How do you know that and what happend? And what about my nephew? Where is he?'' Mabel talked full of emotion.
''MacKenzie is here with me in the living room sitting next to me. I am taking care of him now together with a good friend of your sisters husband.'' Calypso heard Mabel sighing in relief.
MacKenzie heard his name and decided that he didn't wanted to hear the rest of the conversation. He stood up and walked away to the kitchen and opened the door to the back garden. Calypso meanwhile stayed on the phone to tell and explain Mabel everything what had happend, how she was involved in all of this, how MacKenzie was and felt and what should happen.
MacKenzie closed the door and saw his bike resting on the wall of the house. He looked at his bike. Oh how he wanted to grab his bike and just go away from here. Far away he wanted to go. He sighed. He knew he couldn't do that to Calypso or Bandit. He didn't have the guts or knew how to survive on his own. Also, his broken arm prevented him from using it anyway.
He walked to the old trucktire that his dad tied to a tree years ago. It was hung there as a swing for MacKenzie to play.
When he was younger he loved to spend hours on that thing. His father couldn't afford a real swing, so he made this. And MacKenzie loved it more then anything. Back then he even liked to brag at school that his swing back home was cooler then the real thing at school.
He climbed in it with some difficulty as he could only use one arm and lay down in the tire for a while. He swung a little and closed his eyes. He listend to the breeze of the wind and the sound of animals around him. Birds and crickets mostly. It was a distraction for him. It felt relaxing how the wind swung the tire.
After a while he heard footsteps. ''Oh. There you are''. It was Calypso. MacKenzie looked up. ''I'm sorry Calypso, i had to go away''. He said.
She smiled. ''That is no problem. I talked to your aunt and explained how difficult it al has been for you and she understands. She said that she will call back tonight to speak to you. She herself had to calm down a bit too and progress all of the news for herself, you know.'' Calypso said. MacKenzie nodded that he understood.
''If you want, you can always call her she said. She will inform the rest of the family of what happend and they will try to come to here as soon as tomorrow or the day after''.
MacKenzie was suprised how fast that would be. He understood that the funeral of his parents was to take place in four days. That was something he didn't look forward too. But his family from overseas visiting him here, that was something he somewhat looked forward too.
''Oh and i promised her to tell you that she loves you very much and that she is glad the you are okay. She wished you all the best.'' Calypso continued.
MacKenzie thanked her and went back to swinging in silence while Calypso took a chair and also sat outside. She picked up a ball with yarn and started to work further on a yellow checked scarf she was knitting.
About twenty minutes had passed meanwhile and MacKenzie was just about to doze off whe he suddenly heard a car stop at the front of his house. He heard two doors opening and closing. Calypso stood up and walked towards the car. He heard she was talking to somebody but didn't hear who it was. That voice spoke so softly he didn't understand anything that was being said. The other voice was louder and deeper and he reconsigned it as Bandit's voice. That was strange because Bandit wouldn't return untill the evening he had said. So he was early. And that would probably mean that the other voice was Chili's he thought.
He heard Bandit and Calypso enter the house through the front door as the voices disappeared. It stayed quiet outside. MacKenzie wanted to stay outside as he didn't wanted to see Bandit yet. He felt ashamed and feared facing him. He thought about how he yelled at Bandit this morning. It wasn't on purpose, but he felt bad that he had done it.
Suddenly he heard footsteps again and they were approaching him. That was strange because he knew that Calypso and Bandit were still inside and he thought that Chili went inside with them. But these footsteps sounded much more lightly. They couldn't come from a adult dog. And these also sounded like someone was approaching him very carefully. Before he could wonder more he heard the footsteps stopping.
Whoever it was, the person was now standing in front of the swing. He couldn't see the person as he was turned over and his back was facing the person. But he could feel the person's eyes staring at his back. It made him feel awkward. He hoped that as long as he laid quit whoever was there would think he was asleep and would leave him alone.
It stayed quit. He felt that whoever was there was still there. Worst thing is that whoever was there did not leave or did not havy any intention to do so. ''Why wouldn't he or she leave him alone?'' he thought irritated. H he decided to ignore it longer, not wanting to recognise whoever dares to disturb him.
Suddenly he felt a hand softly grabbing the end of his tail and gently pulling it downwards. His tail was sticking outside the tire.
''What the!'' he said angry. He wanted to turn around and scold the person who was standing there.
But before he could angrily react he heard a familiar voice, softly saying his name: ''MacKenzie?''.
His eyes widened and his mouth fell open. He recognized that voice from everywhere. He turned around and directly stared in Bluey's blue eyes who where looking at him. ''Bluey?''
She gave him a smile. ''Hi Mack! It's good to see you again'' she said happily and then letting go of his tail. All of the sudden MacKenzie felt a lot better. He was having mixed emotions of excitement and happiness. He tried to get out of the swing, but one his paws got stuck and instead of climbing out he fell out of it on the ground, hurting himself once more.
''Oh my gosh! Are you alright?'' Bluey asked while she picked him up. She then only noticed his arm in plaster. ''What happend to you?'' she blurted out.
MacKenzie looked down as he also swappeda way the grass and leaves of his fur. He felt a bit of shame. ''I will tell you later. How are you?'' he said laughing sheepishly.
Bluey chuckled. ''You are trying to distract me. I know you longer then today.'' MacKenzie felt like he got caught. ''But i'm doing fine. Same old, same old'' she continued.
''That's good to hear that you haven't changed'' MacKenzie answered her. ''How is everyone at school?''
''Everyone is doing alright, but we were all wondering what happend to you. Jack and Rusty have been worried sick, and so was i. Jack drived me nuts by asking and calling me every day to ask if i knew anthing about you wereabouts. Rusty even went to here to check a couple of times if you and your family were home'' Bluey answered. MacKenzie felt a bit guilt and also a bit of valuation that his friends cared so much about him and even stopped by to check on him.
''I understand. Sorry that i haven't contacted. But i really couldn't do that.'' he said.
''We understand'' Bluey said while giving him a smile of understanding. ''Calypso told us what happend to you''.
MacKenzie looked up. He thought Calypso only told his classmates about the accident and not about the seriousness about his condition or the fact his parents died.
''She..she did?'' he asked her.
Bluey nodded. ''Yeah. I'm sorry you were involved in that nasty car accident''.
''Me too'' MacKenzie said a bit sad.
It became quiet for a moment as they two akwardly looked around in the garden. After a while, Bluey was the first one to break the silence.
''How about we do something together? You know, taking a walk, being away from home for a bit? It would do you good''.
MacKenzie looked at her. He didn't felt like doing anything, but at the same time he was desperate to leave the premises of his home. So he thought and then smiled and nodded yes. ''Alright, let's go. Were do we go to?''
''How about the park?'' she said. MacKenzie agreed and Bluey run inside to ask her dad if it was okay if she and MacKenzie went to the park. Bandit had his doubts but Calypso told him it would be good for MacKenzie to get out of the house and take his mind of. It would also gave them the oppurtunity to focus on the massive amount of paperwork they had to go through. Altough Bluey was old enough now to go out of her own, with strict agreements and no further than certain agreed meters, he still kept worried everytime she went somewhere alone with friends. So he reluctantly agreed and Bluey thanked him and run back to MacKenzie.
''Bluey, i have to warn you. I can't walk that fast. My back hurts because of my ribs so i'm probably will hold you up''. MacKenzie warned her.
Bluey thought and then came up with a idea. ''Say Mack, do you still have that old pull cart of yours?''. MacKenzie nodded and walked with her to his dad's garage. There in the corner was a old, bit rusty, red pull cart that MacKenzie used when he was younger. He played with it a lot back then. Driving his friends in it or his toys in and around the house. When he was little he would sit in the cart and his dad usually took him around with it for a stroll. Nowadays he didn't use it that much anymore but his dad did to move materials whenever he was working on a project. He rememberd Bluey having the same model aswell. But that one was claimed and taken by her cousin Muffin years ago.
Bluey dusted the cart off and then ordered MacKenzie to sit in it. He then realised what she wanted to do and he said ''No way''. But Bluey pulled her 'please' face and asked it again. He sighed and reluctantly did so eventually. Before the wnet away he quickly grabbed a plastic bag that was sitting in the living room. He made sure that Calypso and Bandit did not see him as he wanted to leave as soon as possible.
A couple of moments later Bluey walked happily on the streets with the pull cart in her hands behind her back. MacKenzie was sitting in the cart, ashamed and with a annoyed face. He hoped nobody would see them. Luckily for him, except for some strangers, they did not run across someone they knew and soon arrived in the park. Altough he did not prefer this way of transport, he was still happy that Bluey was here and that he was about to spend some time with her alone.
In the park he got out of the cart and then both walked quietly along the paths in a much easier pace. Bluey pulled out a little purse and treated him on a ice cream that he thankfully accepted. As they were sitting on a bench, eating their ice creams (chocolate for Bluey, Banana for MacKenzie) they looked at the lake where dogs were standing near the side fishing, ducks were swimming and people were laying in the grass.
MacKenzie took the plastic back he brought with him from the cart and pulled out the barky boat that his classmates made for him out of it. ''You want to play Barky Boats?'' he asked Bluey.
She was happy that he recieved the gift that they made for him and agreed. It wasn't her favorite game to play but she knew was crazy about it. ''I know a place'' she said. They both walked to the playground and went through some bushes. She still remembered the route. After some walking, and Bluey making sure that MacKenzie was walking carefully and did not slip, they reached the creek.
It was his favorite place to play and since the first time her dad, on MacKenzie's recommendation, brought her to this place she also felt in love with it, altough it took some time that day. Since then they had returned to this spot often. MacKenzie would occasionally hang out with Rusty and Jack here. Although he regretted it that he showed them this place as both of them thought that spot in the creek was ideal to play army everytime they were there. Something he didn't really enjoy as it took away they peace of the place.
He and Bluey played Barky Boats for a while in the stream of the creek. For the first time in a really long time he turned in his old self again. Happy, energetic and playfull. They ended the game after a hour and a half later and both ending with a tie. They lay down on the ground with their feet in the water and rested before they had to go back.
They were talking about all kind of things. About the new episodes of their favorite show, what he had missed at school, jokes and random thoughts they had and shared with each other, wondering and questiong everything they knew and heard.
Bluey spoke the most. She had a lot to tell. MacKenzie was always the person she would share her worries with. Mainly because he was a good listener. Her female friends tended to talk through her stories and would come up with ideas how to handle situations and how Bluey should feel or what she should do. All meant kindly, but not something that she was often waiting for. She just wanted to tell her stories and someone listening to it.
Therefore she shared a lot with MacKenzie who often would only listen and agreed of disagreed.
She told him already a lot of family secrets. Now was her time to tell things she learned and heard the past few weeks and couldn't tell him before. About her cousin for example, aunt Brandy's child, who was always very shy and quiet. He had a big interest in dinosaurs and would only be interested in Bandit and his office whenever he would visit. Often ignoring Bingo and Bluey as he didn't want to participate in their games. Brandy explained that recently her son was diagnosed with autism. Bluey and Bingo never heard of that before and she learned from her aunt what it was. It was good because she now finally understood her cousin better then before and their interactions had improved.
She had told MacKenzie before that aunt Brandy couldn't get children of her own for years and that she eventually succeed years ago. Now she told him that her other aunt, Frisky, had learned that she was infertile much to her and uncle Rad's sadness.
Then she talked about her worries for her uncle Stripe and aunt Trixie who started to fight more often the last couple of months. It didn't effect her cousin Muffin, but her other cousin Socks suffered from the tensions in house. She wanted to help but didn't know how.
MacKenzie was just listening to her ramblings. He felt happy when she was happy, he was sad when she was sad and he got mad when she got mad.
After Bluey told him everything she wanted to get of her chest, she waited for a while untill she would bring up and ask what happend. She wanted to hear MacKenzie's story. But she didn't really knew how to start the conversation.
''Mac? It's your turn to talk. Can i ask you..well. What happend?''
MacKenzie was a bit suprised by this. ''I thought you knew?'' he said.
''Well i know the story in general, but i don't know any details''.
''What do you know? I can tell from there''.
''Well, Calypso told us you were in a coma for a couple of days because you had a car acident. And..well that's it. She found out and told us after she didn't heard from you or your mum and dad in days''.
MacKenzie realised he was hearing the other side of the story for the first time. Calypso hadn't told the whole story to his class.
''Yeah,. That's about right'' he said hoping the conversation would be over.
''No, that's not it. There is more. I sense it !'' Bluey said.
MacKenzie gulped. He felt tears coming and fighted against it.
''Oh no..no.. i'm sorry. I didn't want to be rude or anything. Sorry'' Bluey said hastily after she saw him struggling.
''No. It's okay. Not your fault.'' He said wiping away the tears.
He stood up and walked in to the water of the creek. When he reached the rock, he turned and sat down in the water with his back against the rock. It was the same spot where they played nailsaloon with Bandit years ago.
He curled his knees up and rested his arms on them. His shut his eyes and talked.
''I..*sigh*.. i don't remember much of it to be honest'' he said. Bluey slowly walked to his direction and sat beside him. He continued; ''One moment i was in my dad's car and the next thing i know i woke up in a hospital''.
''Did it hurt a lot when the car hit you?'' Bluey asked.
''Hm? Hit?'' MacKenzie was a bit taken away by that. ''I don't know what you're talking about''.
''Well i assumed that you were crossing the road when a car hit you. Is that not what happend? What happend then?'' Bluey said a bit dubious.
''No. That is not what happend. I sat in my dad's car and another car crashed in to us causing our car to slip and crash.'' MacKenzie explained in a monotone voice while looking down.
Bluey's eyes widened. ''I..i did not know that. Ad your parents were also in the car?''. MacKenzie just nodded yes. Bluey looked at him with pity. Then she tought and asked: ''Is that the reason why my dad is now sleeping at your house?''. Again MacKenzie nodded yes.
''Ah. I understand now. Your mum and dad are also wounded like you, am i right? And that is why he stays over so he can help you and your family while you three recover.''
''No.. not exactly.'' MacKenzie said softly.
''Then what is he doing at your house? Or…or..oh no..'' Bluey whispered. ''You don't mean to tell me that your parents…are.. are…'' she continued whispering.
MacKenzie closed his eyes again and again nodded yes.
''the're still in the hospital'' Bluey finished her sentence.
MacKenzie opened his eyes and stared in front of him a bit frustrated and dumbfounded by that conclusion.
''What?'' he said.
''That explains it for me. I understand it now Kenzie. My dad is taking care of you because your mum and dad are still in hospital. I'm so sorry for them''.
''No Bluey. They are dead!'' he blurted out while looking at her.
Bluey stared at him and felt completly silent. He saw her eyes slowly widening as the realisation of what he said hit her slowly.
''Wha…wha..for real life?'' she stumered.
MacKenzie stared at her with a frustrated face. As he saw her face changing from compassion to shock he also lost to his emotions. He buried his hand in his face and started sobbing.
''Sorry Bluey. I didn't want to react to you like that. But yes, they are gone'' he howled.
Bluey laid her hand on his shoulder as he continued.
''That car crash killed them. I lost my family. I have no one left anymore. I'm all alone now..'' he sobbed as he felt on her shoulder crying. Bluey felt his tears and snot falling on her fur. She patted him on the back. She was just starring. Mostly she knew what to do or what to say. But this time…no. She had no clue how to react or what to say. She kept stroking his back while he continued crying. After a while her own eyes filled up with tears and she started to cry with him. They cried together for a while.
After some time MacKenzie pulled himself up and sat back in his original position. ''Im sorry Bluey. I didn't want react like this''.
''Hey. That's alright. I understand''. she assured him while she also sat back.
''And sorry about messing up your fur'' he said.
Bluey looked and dipped under in the water to clean herself. When she came back up she repeated herself with a soft smile on her face. ''That's alright to''.
''I'm sorry Mack for what happend and that you have lost your parents. Calypso did not tell us that part of the story. Or what happend. She just told us it was a car incident so i didn't realise how bad it was''.
''That's alright'' he said now.
''Hehe''. Bluey laughed a bit sarcastically.
''Your dad and Calypso are now taking care for me at the moment.'' MacKenzie explained. ''He is staying over so that i'm not alone and is helping me with all kind of difficult administration things and financies and so on. Calypso is there just for me. For the emotional support.''
''That's sweet of her. But if you are alone, you could also stay with us if you want. I don't think my dad would be mind that''. Bluey said to him.
''Í know. He already offered that option. But i don't think i'm ready for that yet. I'm glad to be home for now, altough it feels a bit weird without them around''.
''I can understand. Just know that you are welcome and i will bet here for you to!'' she assured him. He smiled at her. ''Thanks Blue''.
''So..what happens next?'' she asked.
''My aunt from New-Zealand is going to come here. I suspect she will take me in and i have to move to New-Zealand to live with her over there''.
Bluey was shocked to hear this. This would mean she would lose one of her best friends. She wanted to scream but she knew this wasn't about her.
''No..does that mean we will never see you again?'' she said sad, holding back new tears.
''I..i don't know. I don't want to think about that'' MacKenzie said.
''Hey, whatever happens. We will be there for eachother.'' Bluey said confident but also a bit insecure. She put her arm around his shoulders. ''Friends forever!''.
MacKenzie smiled back at her. ''Yeah! And no ocean can separate us!'' he said back.
They laughed.
''I think we need to go back to your home. It's almost diner time'' Bluey said.
''Yeah, i suppose so. Thanks for listening and to be there for me Blues'' he said.
''Anytime MacandCheese''.
Together they walked back up untill they reached the park again. Bluey picked up the go kart. MacKenzie wasn't going to sit in it this time. They slowly walked back together to his house.
When they arrived they knew they were on time as Bandit was making dinner.
Calypso asked them how the park was and they told her they had a great time. They also confesed that MacKenzie told Bluey the whole story about what happend. Calypso took Bluey apart to talk with her and explaining her why she couldn't tell everything. Bluey talked with her about her feeling and how she felt sorry for MacKenzie and wished she could do more about helping him. She also shared her fear of losing him if he really had to live with his aunt.
Meanwhile MacKenzie walked to the kitchen.
''Bluey's dad?'' he said.
''Yeah mate?'' Bandit answered while not looking as he was busy cooking.
''I'm sorry for this morning. I…i didn't wanted to shout at you. I was angry, but not at you. Sorry if i did let you feel that way. ''
Bandit turned around and faced him. He placed his hand on MacKenzie's shoulder and gave him a smile. ''No worries mate.'' He said. ''I understand and i understood that this morning. Don't feel bad. I'm not mad at you and i didn't feel offended at all. I think i went a little bit to far so i'm the one that has to say sorry''.
MacKenzie gave him a smile and hugged him. ''Thank you for caring for me''. He said.
Bandit returned the hug. ''Awh. That's no problem. With pleasure''.
Next MacKenzie helped setting up the table as all four were eating dinner. Bandit had made a casserole dish and it tasted good. After dinner Bleuy stayed a bit longer as the kids both watched tv together. At evening Calypso drove Bluey home and MacKenzie, tired, decided to go to bed early. Bandit was setting up his own bed again and wished MacKenzie a pleasant evening. MacKenzie just hoped that he would get one this night.
