A.N. There's going to be a bit of a break for a couple of chapters before we tackle Season Three, Episode Four because I want to flesh out the story a bit before Gerwin arrives. We're starting to earn our rating here, so fair warning. Hope you enjoy and as always, I love any and all feedback.
Chapter 11: Maddy
Naturally, in the week after Shannon and Tom's 'break up' it was all that everyone wanted to talk about, and the gang were relieved that Liam had not told anyone about Jana's appearance at Maddy's place. She was still on the mend, and Maddy was actually enjoying having her there, which would have horrified the woman she was when Jana had first appeared on her territory all those months ago.
With the issue of overcrowding providing a bit more of a sore point for her parents, plans were in motion for that week's full moon. To reduce tensions, Jana, Arun and Ceri had agreed to leave the house and experience it together on the moors, leaving the den free for Maddy's family and Rhydian.
Happening on a Friday this month, it was the first full moon that she would experience since being back in Stonybridge and she was so excited to be back. Unfortunately the week leading up to it had been less than ideal.
It had begun on Monday, when it was discovered that over the weekend, Liam had told the Kay's about Maddy and Rhydian's supposed love affair. Of course, the entire school knew by break and the pair didn't need their keen werewolf senses in order to work out that they'd been rumbled.
Unsure of how to breach the topic of their fake relationship to him, Maddy was surprised when Rhydian took her hand at break and linked his fingers with her own, as if he had done it a thousand times. Knowing his crowd, he smirked over at the group of passersby who had broken out into whispers at the action, "Alright, show's over guys. It's true, now piss off."
Overwhelmed with what she should do, Maddy just smiled and acted normal as Rhydian pulled her in close to whisper, "Remember, it's acting. All part of the plan, don't overthink it." She watched his face back away and a flicker of uncertainty crossed it before he stole a kiss on her cheek on the way back. He had a questioning look in his eye to check that he hadn't crossed a line and before she could stop herself, she leaned forward and kissed his cheek in return. It's all fine. Don't overthink it. Just ignore the way he smiled in surprise at that.
This mantra continued in her head for the next three days as the couple worked hard to prove their fake/not-so-fake relationship.
On Tuesday, when she casually placed her hand on his arm where it rested on the table between them. Just don't overthink it. That afternoon, as he looped his arm around her waist as they crossed the playground. It's just an act. On Wednesday, when she leaned her head on his shoulder during a movie in class. It's all part of the plan. And finally on Thursday when he picked up and carried her bag for her at the end of the day before she could stop him, without even offering. Ignore it.
Maddy was becoming so excited for these interactions that it was starting to stress her out and so when the morning of the full moon came, she woke up way too early. Luckily, Rhydian seemed to be in the same boat, because by the time she made it to his, he was already waiting for her with a smile on his face.
She didn't know what possessed her in that second, but seeing him looking at her like that, Maddy couldn't help herself but lean up to him and kiss him hello. It was just a small peck, totally unthinkingly given, but Rhydian froze up and glanced down at her in shock. There was no one they were trying to fool here.
Not wanting to feel embarrassed about her moment of spontaneity, she just shrugged and began to jog away, smiling at his still dumbfounded expression. "You coming then? We've still got an hour till school starts and I need to blow off some steam!"
Rhydian got the message that they apparently weren't going to address it, and jogged to catch up with her. Their run began like usual, both taking turns chasing, diving over banks, and climbing trees, laughing in the crisp morning air.
Near the end of their time they had before school, Maddy suddenly got another burst of energy to run a bit faster. As she sped up and heard Rhydian's footfall increase to catch her, she was reminded of the first time they had run in this forest together. She laughed, expecting to hear his familiar chuckle in response.
Instead, she heard a growl that immediately gave her goosebumps.
Chancing a glance behind her, she saw that his eyes held such a predatory, single-minded look, that she grew both scared and strangely excited at the prospect of him catching her.
It may have been her distraction or the encouragement of the scent of her surprise bolt of lust, but a glint seemed to fill Rhydian's eyes and he put on one last burst of speed.
She gasped as his hand reached out and reached around her wrist, halting her long enough to make her stumble over, rolling before landing face first on the autumn leaves. Initially she assumed that he must have continued running or stumbled as well, until that same hand grasped her ankle and yanked her back towards him, flipping her in the process.
Suddenly he was on top of her. Hurried breath mixing with her own as he placed both hands on either side of her face. Effectively caging her in.
Maddy didn't know if her face showed excitement, fear, or just pure shock, but she didn't care. Not when a look of unadulterated possessiveness and want was staring back at her. This wasn't the Rhydian that she knew and loved, there was more wolf than man in his eyes at that moment.
Her first thought was to not move a muscle, which proved to be the right idea when Rhydian took that moment to break eye contact and survey her face for injuries. He had been doing that a lot lately.
He murmured something unintelligible as his eyes moved back to her own. The comment was so quiet that she could only make out the words "..you look…" and yet her whole body heated up at the implication. She could feel her face blazing and her mouth opening in shock, as she felt an arousal pool within her.
Rhydian's nostrils flared and Maddy proved that she could actually blush more. But before she could squirm away in embarrassment, he leaned closer and inhaled deeply against her neck. "You smell incredible." He whispered, although it was so close to her ear that the gravely tone couldn't be mistaken this time.
Maddy whimpered. And then promptly smacked a hand over her mouth when she realised what she had done.
Unfortunately, he definitely didn't miss it, as she felt his mouth shape into a grin in the place it was nessled under her jaw. "Don't try to be quiet Maddy." He whispered again, as she felt his nose trailing up against the skin on her neck. "That'd be no fun for either of us."
She almost missed the last comment, because as soon as the words left his mouth, he swiped a long, broad lick over her pulse. Maddy was too busy moving her hands to grasp onto his biceps to stifle the sound she emitted this time.
The skin there felt electrified and sensitive in no way it had ever felt before, and she felt her body arching into his own when he took another lick of the area.
At her movement, Rhydian lowered his hips slightly, and Maddy instinctively opened her legs to accommodate him. Taking this as encouragement, he dropped his hips more and lightly grinded onto her. Maddy could hardly believe what was happening, and felt her eyes widen in shock when she felt the evidence of how turned on he was by this.
Rhydian didn't seem to notice her surprise when he refocused his attention to that point on her neck that seemed to make her squirm. Before she could help it, her eyes slid shut and she raised her hand to the back of his head to grasp the hairs there.
She may have tugged the hair a bit tightly but this only made him growl, actually growl, and rock his hips towards her again. Unable to stop the impulse, she rose her hips up to meet him, both gasping when contact was made. With his mouth open in rapture, it only took her a slight movement and his teeth came into contact with the skin.
It was like fireworks went off under the surface of the area and Maddy could not control the whimper of his name that escaped her.
Unfortunately, it appeared that this was finally the thing that was able to pull Rhydian out of his trance-like state, and he went rigid above her. He drew back slowly to glance at her face, a look of what she could only describe as terror on his own.
Maybe her jolt of uncertainty in response was showing on her face, because Rhydian's eyes seemed to shutter off slightly, and he made to draw even further away. Some deep biological impulse told her that she really couldn't let that happen.
Before he could completely withdraw from on top of her she took his retreating hand in her own. He stopped, looked at her, and that's all the confidence she needed to continue with her plan.
Where her legs had been splayed awkwardly outwards, she pulled them together to fit snugly around his own. Completing the action so slowly that he had the time to take in what she was doing.
Then, sitting up slightly, she placed a soft kiss on his cheek and rolled them both over.
Rhydian spluttered in shock at their new position laying in the leaves with her straddling his waist, looking down at their predicament before meeting Maddy's eyes.
The look was a question, and enough open vulnerability that Maddy knew she could summon the confidence enough to respond to.
There was a tense moment of silence where no one moved.
Then, surprising both of them, she experimentally rolled her hips down. Feeling the obvious bulge beneath her, somehow maintaining eye contact the entire time.
His breath stuttered again and his mouth dropped open in shock, it was so delicious to watch that she rolled her hips forward again. This time he groaned, eyes rolling back and head thudding back onto the ground in an involuntary movement.
Yet again, she felt this compulsion inside of her that needed to have him watching her. This was so much more intimate than a few seconds ago, as they both now appeared to be in full control of their impulses, and Maddy didn't want him to miss a second of it.
She took his hands that had been splayed on the grass, and raised them up. He watched through lidded eyes when she placed them on her thighs and ground down on him again.
This time, instead of shutting down, he woke up and met her thrust with one of his own. Maddy heard herself whine absently, but was more focussed on fulfilling her next movement.
As they continued to softly grind into each other, Maddy became more and more aware of their heavy breathing. Especially considering how close to contact their mouths were coming to one another.
He began to sit up into the rocking of her body to gain more leverage and she leaned down to be closer to him. Their mingling breaths and the increasing tempo of thrusts, were the only indication of the peak that they were both steadily approaching.
Maddy felt his hands move to squeeze her arse and bring her down onto him, and she was sure at that moment that he was going to kiss her again.
It was only when that thought crossed her mind that she suddenly realised where they were and what they were doing.
They had kissed twice. Once when they thought they were never going to see eachother again, and once as a ruse to scare off Liam, and now they were here dry humping in a pile of leaves. It's not like she was complaining, but this was a serious step up from their previous skirting around one another. How had their race in the woods developed so quickly?
The surprise of this revelation, or confusion of what caused it, must have shown on her face, because she looked down to see a frown spread across Rhydian's. Their rocking faltered and she opened her mouth.
But before she could utter a word, a loud bell rang in the area around them.
Jumping up in fright and surprise, Maddy turned to see that the site of their apparent secret hideaway was in fact located at the bottom of the school field.
Mortified at the thought of being caught in this position by her classmates, she glanced back at Rhydian. He sat hunched up on the ground, also staring through a gap in the trees as students trickled into first period.
Her eyes unconsciously slipped down between his legs to where his trousers had tented and he was obviously trying to hide from her. Before she could marvel at what was there, he caught her looking and shifted uncomfortably.
"Maddy..." He began, obviously building up to saying something.
The panic at the thought of addressing what had just happened instantly made her turn away and rush to where her bag had been flung in the exchange. Intently concentrating on not making eye contact again, she began to ramble, beet red in the face.
" Okay. So…yeah. I'm going to go now… and you come out a bit later. But not too later just until you're-" She vaguely gestured to his crotch and stuttered in embarrassment. "-Until you're…yeah. Um…ready?"
Unable to think of how that exchange could have gone any worse, she waited until she saw him nod out of the corner of her eye before practically running out of the shrubbery and across the field.
Thank god Tom and Shannon weren't waiting for her when she got there because she was in such a state of shock at what just happened that there was no way she could have said anything that remotely made sense.
