The Makoto Naegi Collection Chapter 32
Makoto Naegi: Completing the Mission Chapter 8
Route: Master Bounty Hunter
Nicole smiles as she enjoyed the second run's ending more than the first one. But regardless she decides now to take a different route.
"Let's see here" she said as she selects her buttons.
The first one was Relentless Bounty Hunter which included Legion of Doom leader Lex Luthor was arrested, Deathstroke was defeated and became cybernetically enhanced, Makoto steals a tank from the Legion of Doom and he was pardoned by the Republic for prior crimes
The second button was International Rescue Operative which included Makoto and Brass were assisted by Kirishima in escaping the Stormcage and they fled by airship.
"Okay, here we go" Nicole said and hits the launch button.
The scene opens reminiscent in the style of a Metal Gear Solid game, mainly the third one. Kirishima's airship flying through the sky
Legion of Doom Airspace, Amazon Jungle, 2 hours before launch
"We're entering Legion airspace now" Brass said who was now Kirishima's co-pilot "Altitude: 20,000 feet. Windspeed: Nominal"
"Thanks Brass, visibility is clear. Stand by for drop" Kirishima said nodding. He then looks back at the other passenger, it was Makoto along with Nicole and said, "I hope you don't mind helping us out again."
Makoto sighs a bit and nods he owed Kirishima and the Republic a favor for helping him out at the Stormcage so, while he didn't know the specifics of the mission
"Of course, I am just wondering what the mission is exactly" Makoto said with a nod
"You will know once we arrive" Kirishima said "I called ahead and got the call clear from the General. Pretty sure you have a lot of questions but don't worry, he'll fill you in when you arrive"
"Well, I don't doubt it" Nicole said in agreement
"Well all we know is you'll be dropped on the outskirts of the Legion's launch site." Brass explained to them. "There is also a squad waiting for you when you arrive."
"A squad? Well, that is a change from normal" Makoto said usually he is by himself in this situations save from Nicole
"Yeah, let's hope they can be effective" Nicole said with a nod
Just then the drop light turns green. Kirishima said "Okay time to drop"
"Alright then" Makoto said getting a parachute on and goes to the opening. He takes a deep breath and falls out the helicopter and freefalls. He then pulls the cord and parachutes in.
On the group two people watch the first was a man with brown hair and glasses named Taichi Fujisaki. The second was a girl with orange hair and in a pink skirt named Nora Valkyrie. They both see Makoto parachuting in.
"There he is" Taichi said pointing
"Do you think he's as legendary as they say?" Nora asked curious, she has heard the stories mainly from Captain Scout about Makoto and his exploits.
Makoto yelps as he crashes through some branches, he then unfastens his parachute and jumps and lands on the ground perfectly ready for the mission
As Taichi and Nora secure the perimeter the third member of the team a man with brown hair and beard with a bandanna greets Makoto, he was the legendary Solid Snake.
"Ah, Makoto and Nicole. You both really kept us waiting, huh..." Snake said helping Makoto up
"Yeah, sorry about that" Nicole said smiling
"Nice to meet the guy who can pull off the impossible more so than me" Snake said with a nod.
"I guess so" Makoto said rubbing his head suddenly a call came in on the codec and they go into it
It was from General Malcolm who said "Makoto, Nicole. Glad to see you both made it safely. Let me introduce you to your squad. First is Solid Snake as you should know he's been doing this for a long time and excels at stealth. For anything involving stealth he'll be your go to. Obviously, his codename is Snake."
"Glad to be of service" Snake said with a nod
"Next up is Taichi Fujisaki, He's a master when it comes to electronics namely computers. He knows his way around any interface, and he'll be helpful when it comes to hacking. He'll be going by the codename Rotom." Jace explained
"I hope to be as helpful as I can during the mission" Taichi said with a nod
"Lastly, we have Nora Valkyrie, demolitions expert. She's known to tackle problems head on and will blow a hole in any problem. Her Code name is Hammer" Jace said finishing the introductions
"Nice to meet ya" Nora said smiling
"Nice to meet all of you" Nicole said with a smile
"Now that is out of the way, general...What's this all about?" Snake asked getting down to business
"Ah Snake, I'll run through the briefing again for Makoto and Nicole." Jace said with a nod "We recently learned of the Legion of Doom's plan to launch a space station into orbit around the Earth. If they are able to get the station operational, they'll become unstoppable save from the Justice League but for now they are off planet."
"Understandable" Nicole said nodding the only one who knew all this anyway.
"They'll be able to attack any place around the world easily, with no way for anyone to counterattack." Jace finishes the brief
"The Legion of Doom? I thought they were brought down by Makoto?" Snake asked confused
"Sadly, not the case. Only their leader Lex Luthor was captured and he isn't saying much but we did learn this station plan from him" Jace Malcolm explained "The remaining members are being led by his right hand man Deathstroke."
"Deathstroke? I thought he was defeated" Snake asked surprised
"It seems someone has fixed him up, and also given him cybernetic enhancements to boot" Jace explained worried "He'll be more dangerous to handle this time around."
Snake thinks on it and asks, "So we are just cleaning up another mess?"
"Well, it is what you do best Snake" Jace said simply
"Well, that is true" Nicole said with a shrug
"Your mission is to capture or eliminate Deathstroke. We'll be launching an all-out assault on the compound at the same time." Jace said telling them the mission
"Oh, sort of like a distraction" Makoto asked
"Yes and No, our focus will be on preventing the rocket launch." Jace replied nodding
Snake smiles and said "Sounds like a good time"
"That's why we're sending all of you" Jace said with a nod "Good luck out there Makoto"
The codec closes and the group see Republic airships flying to the outpost. Snake said "The raid's starting. Let's get in there and find Deathstroke."
"Yeah, let's move out" Nora said excited
They approach the gate and see it is guarded by Gantu who despite the attack was sticking to his post to make sure no one enters from this side
"Oh, we will need to get past that guard" Snake said seeing Gantu
"Makoto this is on you" Taichi said to him
"Alright Nicole give me my suggestions please" Makoto said with a smile
"On it" Nicole said and shows him, Makoto can either Close Quarters Combat him, use stealth to get by him, convert Gantu to there side or challenge him to a dance off.
Close Quarters Combat
"Going in" Makoto said and sneaks up on Gantu.
He then tackles the alien, but Gantu was a lot bigger then him even if he was shrunk down a bit, he overpowers and throws Makoto awake making him scream in defeat
"Henry! Are you alright? Answer me! HENNNRRYYYYYYYY!" Nicole said
"Cupcake!" The cupcake said
"I know but I had to" Nicole giggles and resets
Stealth
Makoto began to crawl underneath the window Gantu was standing by. Just then Makoto levels up his Stealth to 42 and earned XP which appeared in a Skyrim style presentation
"What the?" Gantu said hearing and sees it "Wait a sec..." He looks down and sees Makoto and aims his blaster "Nice try earthling"
"Eep..." Makoto said gulping
"This never would've happened at 100." Nicole said and resets
Dance Off
"Hey!" Makoto said jumping up smiling at Gantu
"What?" Gantu asked confused
Makoto then starts to do the default Fortnite dance, but Gantu just immediately shoots him killing him
"Do not." Nicole said shaking her head as she didn't want to see that. She then resets
Convert
Makoto runs forward, Gantu sees him and aims but Makoto said "Wait, wait, wait!"
"What is it human?" Gantu asked confused
Makoto clears his throat and waves his arms and said "Wololo"
Suddenly Gantu felt compelled to join the group as his uniform turns to that of Republic and he said "Narwini"
"Wow, that worked, nice" Makoto said and thumbs up the others
"That was most impressive" Nora said as the group exit the bushes
"Now let's move" Nicole said nodding
The group now including Gantu rush to the nearest building. Snake stops Gantu from entering and said "You, stand guard"
Gantu salutes and said "Erectus" He then turns away and guards the doors as Snake.
The room was empty and a mess. There was a computer which Taichi was immediately working on it while the others looked around.
Nicole finds a Red Chibi Marine and picks it up and hugs it "Mine"
Snake comments "There's no one here"
Taichi nods and said as he kept typing "They must be out fighting the Republic attack"
"It looks like they left in a hurry alright" Nora said with a nod commenting on the mess
"Make sense the attack must have taken them by surprise" Makoto said in agreement
Taichi manages to get camera feeds on the computer and said "I've gotten into the security feed. Looks like Deathstroke is holed up in the warehouse with some other members of the Legion for protection. However, the halls are completely empty. That means we should be able to get close without being detected"
"Good, then let's move out" Snake said with a nod.
The group moves to the door to the warehouse and peek in to see Deathstroke with him were at least four other members Mr. Freeze, Shocker, Elgar and Mad Mod.
"What's the plan sir?" Shocker asked concerned
We see other Legion members defend the position from the Republic who have breached it led by Scout
"Keep the doors secure" Deathstroke ordered his men
"There he is!" Snake said as he confirmed the target
"Alright let's do this" Nora said with a smile "What's the plan?"
"I have four ways to do this" Nicole said smiling either use a cluster charge to take out all in the room, dogpile on Deathstroke, use suppressingfire or a dance off...again?
Cluster Charge
Smiling Nora holds up the Cluster charge and explained "This gadget will launch a cluster of bombsthrough the door"
"Well let's hope it works" Makoto said taking it. He sets it up while Snake and Nora stand by and Taichi guards the hallway
Makoto gets it up and uses the trigger to fire a bomb at Deathstroke but it ends up ricocheting off various objects and slides under the door back to them. It then explodes taking out him, Snake and Nora
A sign appeared saying 'You killed yourself' Makoto looks shocked
Nicole surprised said "Nice Triple Kill." She then rewinds
Dogpile
Deathstroke was thinking on what to do when all of a sudden Makoto and his team rush in and pile on top of him
Elgar seeing this smiling and said "Oh are we doing a dogpile now! Great" He jump to pile on
"Alright dogpile!" Shocker said and joins it
"Nice dogpile!" Mad Mod said and joined it smiling
Annoyed Deathstroke powers up and knocks everyone off him "ENOUGH!"
"Everyone! Pile on!" Nicole said giggling and resets
Dance Off
Makoto jumps in and points to Deathstroke "Hey!"
"What? You again?!" Deathstroke said shocked to see him. Makoto then began to do default dance again and Deathstroke shoots him "Just when I thought he couldn't get more annoying"
"Cease" Nicole groans and resets
Suppressing Fire
Everyone had drawn there hand guns and Snake goes over the plan. "Alright Makoto, me and the others will provide surpressing fire. You'll loop around and get behind him."
"Understood" Nicole said nodding
"Good, now go!" Snake ordered and kicks the door open.
Makoto moves quickly while his squamates open fires on Deathstroke, Elgar and Shocker, killing the later two but Deathstroke makes a protection shield to defend himself
Deathstroke however notices Makoto running to flank him and recognise him "Hang on..." He kills the shield, turns his legs into jet to fly and fires a laser eye at Snake, Taichi and Nora taking them out of the fight (unconcious not dead) and turns to Makoto "You!"
Makoto stops and gulps "Think he recognise us?" He asked nervous
"I see you Makoto! And I waited for this day!" Deathstroke said angry
"Yeah, I think he does" Nicole said with a gulp
Deathstroke charges in and smacks Makoto out of the werehouse and into a clearing in the middle of the open warzone. He jumps off and looks down on his enemy
"I was planning on hunting you down once we got set up. But how lucky I am that you just fall right into my lap" Deathstroke said smirking under his mask. Makoto begins to stand "Go on, get up on your feet."
"I won't let you get away again Deathstroke, it's over" Makoto said recovering
"Heh, confident I see, very well. I will give you one free shot. For old times" Deathstroke said confident
"Okay...Nicole what can I do?" Makoto asked nervous his team was down and the Republic was focused on distracting the other Legion members
"I have four" Nicole said they were Cheap Fighting Combo, play Rock Paper Scissors, Self-Destruct or Dance Off…This is a running gag isn't it?
Self-Destruct
Makoto takes a deep breath and inflates, Deathstroke seeing this braces himselve and Makoto just mini explodes leaving only a little tombstone
"Huh?" Deathstroke was confused "How was that going to work? No seriously."
"Makoto bit the dust" Nicole said and resets
Rock Paper Scissors
"Let's go!" Makoto said determined
"Fine then" Deathstroke said ready.
"Rock, Paper, Scissors, shoot!" Both said and Makoto picked scissors but Deathstrokes hand changed to a laser gun
"Huh?" Makoto said confused
"I win" Deathstroke said and fires at Makoto's head killing him
Nicole shrugged "Laser blaster beats scissors" She then resets
Dance Off
Makoto smiles confident then begins to do the default Fortnite dance only for Deathstroke to punch him square in the face. He then falls over unconscious
"I should have said not waste it on stupid stunt" Deathstroke said
"No" Nicole said annoyed and resets
Cheap Fighting Combo
"You sure on this?" Makoto asked Deathstroke
"Heh, of course" the mercenary said smirking
"Alright but I gave you an out" Makoto said and then uppercuts Deathstroke hard and then jumps and smacks him down and repeats it
He keeps on doing this cheap move pushing him along the field reaching and going up the ramp to the rocket. Eventually Deathstroke lets out a "Uaaaaahhh!" Noise signalling defeat and falls onto the ramp
He looks up at Makoto damaged "Ngh...My c-c-c-yber-neti-" He then glitches and shuts down too damaged to function.
"Phew…. that was close" Makoto said as he picks up Deathstroke
Green Goblin looks back and sees this and said "Hey! Who is that? He's got the boss!"
"Uh oh, time to think a way out of here" Nicole said and offers her suggestions which were Finish Off Deathstroke, Rewire him to their side, use the Ocarina or Dance Off….please for the last time.
Finish Off
"Well, best to do this quick" Makoto said as he holds up Deathstroke and throws him over the side
"Nooooooo!" Deathstroke called out coming too and lands on the hard ground and breaks, he lies motionless
"No!" Green Goblin said as he along with Corroder and Thrust were near Makoto "He's killed him!"
"Well time for some payback!" Thrust said and kicks Makoto off the side "So long jerk!"
"Well, we will be needing a new boss now right?" Corroder said thinking on it
We then see Makoto lying among the broken body of Deathstroke
"This! Is! Toppats!" Nicole said and resets
Rewire
"Nicole can you hack in and reprogram Deathstroke to make him loyal to the Republic" Makoto asked
"I can try" Nicole said and does so
Deathstroke reactivates his red optic now blue. He gets up and looks at his two adversaries "Makoto! Nicole! We got to put a stop to the Legion of Doom!"
"Oh, what you know I did it" Nicole said proud of herself
"Right" Makoto said nodding
"Come on, let's go" Deathstroke said and the fly up to the roof
Green Goblin looking at this said "Never mind, I guess Deathstroke's got him" unaware of the reprogramming
The three fly to the cockpit and smash into it surprising Roman and Neo
"Hold it!" Deathstroke said standing ready while Makoto smiles at this "The Legion of Doom is finished. You aren't going anywhere"
"Err...I am confused, what is going on?" Roman asked confused and Neo just nods
"Stand back Makoto" Deathstroke said as Makoto sits back happy to be the one not having to fight for once "I'll take care of these two"
"Wait what are you doing?" Roman said confused as that makes Deathstroke stop from about to punch him "You're our boss! Are you really going to side with the guy who locked up Lex Luthor? Granted a lot of us are happy he's gone but still he humiliated us"
Deathstroke sparks a bit hearing that "Oops...I don't think I am that good at reprogramming" Nicole said worried
Makoto got worried, even more so when Deathstroke turned around his optic red again. The rocket then launched, and Makoto was thrown out the window
Nicole sighs "Deep down he's always gonna be a Legion of Doom. There's no rewiring that." She then resets
Dance Off
Makoto smiles as Green Goblin, Thrust and Corroder surround him. He begins to do the default Fortnite dance only for a Republic tank from out of now where crushes him and Deathstroke and shocks the three villains.
Nicole who threw the tank "STOP IT!" She then resets
Ocarina
"Okay, let's hope this works" Makoto said and begins playing a song called 'Kirishima and Brass' Song'
"Hurry get on" Brass said
Suddenly Kirishima and Brass in their airship quickly arrive and Makoto stores Deathstroke onboard and gets on himself.
"Good, get us out of here" Makoto said
Kirishima and gets on the comms with Ratchet and Clank saying "We got him! Put out the signal!"
"You heard him pal" Ratchet said
Clank nods and does so hacking into the loudspeaker system and said "Attention all Legion of Doom. We captured your leader. Surrender now."
"They got him?" a villain known as Cheese Shogan asked surprised
"What do we do?" another villain named Thok asked
"Well, we will be needing a new boss now, right?" Corroder said thinking on it
"Come on then, I'll lead us through this!" Psycho Blue said with a nod
"No way! I'm leader of the Psycho Rangers not you Blue, so I will" Psycho Red said
The two argued and didn't see a Republic trooper come out the bushes
Meanwhile on the rocket cockpit Roman and Neo tried to get contact with anyone "Hello? Is anyone there?" Roman said "We need to take off immediately"
"Who put you in charge?" A voice on the other side said
"Geez don't they know the Republic can easily get us now that we…. ohhhh" Roman said and Neo nods realizing the reason the Republic broadcast that
And indeed, that was the case. The Legion was so divided some wanting to assume command and other panicking and letting the Republic arrest them.
Tsuzuku and Shogan had captured three Legion members one being Black Manta. Tsuzuku gets on comm and said "Got another group that surrendered here."
Back on the airship Makoto and Nicole were debriefed by Jace Malcolm via codec "Excellent job Makoto and Nicole. Thanks to your capture the L.O.D has panicked. And we were able to prevent their rocket from launching."
"That's good to hear" Nicole said nodding
"A few members escaped. But there all in smaller groups now. They won't be causing us any significant problems in the near future." Jace explained
"And my team?" Makoto asked concerned
"Snake, Taichi and Nora are injured but none the worse for ware, medics say they will make a full recovery." Jace said to him
"I am glad to hear that" Nicole said
"You know, after seeing you do this twice, I have to say Bounty Hunting really suits you?" Kirishima said smiling
"I have to agree. Have you ever thought about going pro?" Brass asked smiling
Makoto thinks about it "You know. Not a bad idea" Nicole smiles and nods and so Makoto signed on to the Bounty Hunter association and earned some armor to fit it. He was going to be the best Bounty Hunter no the Master Bounty Hunter.
