Nyssa's POV
The Ring of Wrath wasn't that different from Pentagram City. But the area the Harvest Moon Festival took place was in a country setting. Alastor and I were staying at a hotel not far from where the festivities were taking place.
"Do you plan on participating in the Pain Games?" Alastor wondered putting his head on my shoulder.
"I think not" was my reply. The Pain Games sounded ridiculous in all honesty. Besides, other activities were being offered at the festival. "Why? Did you want to see me get all bloodied up?"
"Not a chance" the Radio Demon purred before kissing my shoulder. He then backed away and I changed into my night attire. Alastor sat on the bed with his signature smirk.
"Come here my Fiery Rose"
The way he said that almost made my insides explode but I did as he asked. Alastor pulled me into his lap and he placed my hands on his suit jacket. I pulled the jacket off before undoing the buttons of his vest and shirt. I then attacked his throat with kisses and licks of my tongue. Next, I kissed each part of his chest and then his toned stomach before his lips were fighting against mine.
Soon I was on my back and Alastor was returning the favor with nips and kisses on my neck.
Next Day.
Harvest Moon Festival
Still Nyssa's POV
The festival was in full swing and I had some time to mingle around before singing. At the moment I was looking at Livania's artwork that was up for sale. Angel hadn't been kidding the wolf demoness was a damn good artist.
"I must say I am impressed with Livania's work" Alastor complimented eying the piece he and I were looking at.
We were looking at a painting that had the Seven Rings of Hell. Each ring had its own unique design.
"Holy shit did my ears just hear that right?"
Alastor and I turned to see Livania looking dumbfounded. My Jorraelagon chuckled at her response.
"You heard right my dear, you're very talented"
"I appreciate your feedback, it's not every day an Overlord likes my work"
Then the wolf demoness seemed to remember something before she told us to follow her. My jaw dropped when she showed us a picture of me sitting on the Iron Throne.
"An early wedding present from Stolas and me, I'm glad there's another fan I can nerd out with"
I thanked Livania profusely while she wrapped up the drawing. Alastor then kissed my cheek before taking the drawing and doing his shadow disappearing act. He returned a few minutes later and we carried on looking at the rest of Livania's artwork.
"Hey, Nyssa!"
Alastor and I turned to see Moxxie heading our way but when he got closer to us the imp fell flat on his face. Several other imps laughed and I sent them glares which in turn made them shut up.
"Gah I really need to pay attention on where I'm going" Moxxie mumbled as he stood back up.
"Hey Nyssa good to see you again" Millie greeted before kissing her husband on the cheek.
"I could say the same, you guys here for the festival?"
"Damn straight" Moxxie confirmed. "I'm giving the Pain Games another try"
"My Fiery Rose isn't fond of the games" Alastor added. The Radio Demon then wrapped a possessive arm around my body making me blush. "And in all honesty, I'd rather not have blood on my bride"
"Not everyone likes the games" Millie explained. "I'm going to watch Moxxie play, you two wanna watch with me?"
"I'm going to get a better view of the games for my broadcast" Alastor informed us before he kissed my cheek and disappeared again using his shadow magic.
I took up Millie's invitation and I followed her to the stands. Not long after we sat down the games started and they turned out to be very entertaining. There were some obstacle courses as well as tug of war. Moxxie was doing well and at one point during one of the games a shark tried to make the imp lunch. But Moxxie pulled out a gun and killed it. Millie squealed in delight and I chuckled.
"That shark was bothering him last year" she stated.
"Really? Poor bastard, now he doesn't have to worry about it anymore"
Millie giggled before we watched the remainder of the games. Afterward, Stolas announced Moxxie won the games and the male imp stepped onto the stage looking proud. Millie was now shouting her joy and several other imps were doing the same.
"Now I believe it's time for the Princess of the Dead to perform!"
I transported myself on the stage after Stolas made the announcement. The crowd either shrieked in delight or yelled something in excitement. Through the mate bond, I felt Alastor was nearby but I couldn't see him. Stolas gave me a brief bow before letting me on the stage.
"Hello, fellow residents of Wrath! Y'all wanna hear some badass music?!" I asked through the microphone.
Again my audience replied with their enthusiasm as I smirked. Soon the music for the first song began to play and then I was singing.

As always the crowd burst into applause which included several wolf whistles. Next, I performed "Memories" by Within Temptation along with "I Hate Everything About You" by Linkin Park. I finished with "Evil Angel" by Breaking Benjamin. My audience really loved that one. I gave the crowd a bow before stepping aside so Stolas could curse the crops and whatnot.
However just as he was about to make the curse I sensed something was wrong. Then my inner phoenix took over and I shifted into phoenix form.
Alastor's POV
I watched as my Nyssa took flight and she body slammed Stolas out of the way. Then something hit Nyssa's wing and my eyes widened as a shriek of pain escaped my beloved. I immediately transported myself onto the stage just as Nyssa crashed onto it. I ignored the now-frightened attendees as I rushed to Nyssa's side. Stolas was beside me in worry as Nyssa returned to her human form.
"Nyssa, darling are you okay?" I demanded taking the woman I loved into my arms.
"Yeah I think so but whatever hit me, is giving me a f**king headache"
I breathed a sigh of relief before kissing her forehead.
"This is what hit her," Livania said picking up a bullet fragment in her claws. "It was meant for you Stolas"
Alarmed Stolas examined the bullet and then growled. I got a good look at the bullet myself and I felt deep anger surge inside me. The bullet indeed was meant to kill a demon of royal blood, but since Nyssa was a goddess it only gave her a headache but the wound site would no doubt hurt.
I was going to kill the bastard who'd hurt my bride.
Later.
Nyssa's POV
"Alastor I don't need to be coddled" I scolded the Radio Demon after he watched me eat. My beloved sighed before sitting down beside me in bed. My headache was almost gone and my arm was wrapped up in the area where I had been shot. It hurt like a bitch too.
"I know you don't need coddling Nyssa, but today I was scared"
His voice was shaky. The Radio Demon then carefully pulled me into his lap and he pressed his forehead against mine.
"I cannot lose you, Nyssa, I have been alone for decades, I've waited for you for decades, and now that you are mine, I would turn hell upside down to keep you safe as such is my love for you"
He gave me a gentle kiss to prove his point.
"You know for an Overlord who scares the shit out of everyone, you're a romantic my Jorraelagon"
My comment made my mate smirk.
"I'm only a romantic with you my Fiery Rose"
I picked up his left hand and kissed each of his fingers before giving his lips the same attention. Alastor was still in his trance when I pulled away.
"And only I can make you submit to me"
"My beautiful goddess you have no idea how seductive that sounded coming from your lips"
I chuckled darkly before I gave Alastor another kiss that made him lower his guard and under my power.
