As promised, that same evening Jay found Jamilah at the bleachers waiting for him while staring at the sunset. He saw that the warm glow from the sun setting had blanketed Jamilah's face. If Jay was honest with himself, he thought that Jamilah looked stunning with a warm sunset on her face. Looked almost aesthetically pleasing.

"Whoa," Jay's brown eyes widened and blinked as he slowly approached Jamilah. "You're quicker than I expected."

Jamilah turned her head away from the sunset and grinned at Jay. "Well, when Aladdin and Jasmine are your parents, don't be surprised if I'm more agile than you or my brothers for that matter."

Jay rolled his eyes and scoffed. "We'll see about that," he said as Jamilah scooted over so that Jay could sit beside her and she crossed her right leg over her left leg.

Jay sighed softly as he leaned against the bench while watching the sun setting. "Beautiful sunset, isn't it?" He turned to fix his eyes on the young princess.

"Yeah," Jamilah said as she watched the sunset again with her hands resting on her lap.

"So..are you ready to tell me why you're grossed out about not having a boyfriend?" Jay asked and he heard Jamilah sigh.

"I'll take that as a no?"

"I'll tell you…" Jamilah paused for a moment. "Just lemme recollect my thoughts."

And with that, she did. Although Jay could tell just by Jamilah's body language and facial features, she was hesitant to tell him about her past. He guessed whosoever boy who dated her had probably hurt her very deeply.

"Ok!" Jamilah said suddenly as she turned her hand to Jay. This sudden outburst caused Jay to flinch slightly which was unusual for him.

"So, what's the story?"

Jamilah took a deep breath before answering. "So, um last year, I dated this guy…"

Jay propped his left foot on the bottom part of the bench so that he could rest his elbow on that said foot and rested his cheek in his palm. "Who's that guy?"

"Chad," Jamilah answered, her voice neutral. It sounds as if she had no expression.

Jay huffed. "Hmph, wow. I could have figured it was him. Continue."

"So I dated Chad last year, and I thought at first he was a sweet, caring, kind, and charming guy who loved me dearly. And because of this, we dated for a good while, around 6-7 months. But everything changed for a couple of weeks while we were in the 10th grade," Jamilah gulped, and Jay could tell that she looked uneasy.

"It's okay, Jamilah, go on," Jay told her, his voice sounded comforting. He had the urge to hold her hand, but he couldn't since he didn't know how Jamilah would react.

Jamilah looked at the older boy before giving him a short nod. "Around September to October last year, heh, time flies, I've been hearing rumors in and around the school that there's a guy who's dating multiple girls at the same and some say he resembles Chad. So I asked Chad if he was secretly dating other girls behind my back. He denied it and said I was the only girl for him, I foolishly believed him but before that my best friend Nina hinted some warnings to me, and knowing her looking out for me, I did take heed to some extent."

Jay blinked. "Wow, just…wow. So Chad lied and manipulated you to keep you wrapped around his finger. Am I correct?"

Jamilah only nodded before continuing. "I know that Nina was trying to look out for me-" Jay cuts her off.

"Wait, I don't wanna cut you but who's Nina?"

"Aziz's girlfriend, Aunt Tiana's daughter. Her twin brother, Tyrone is on the Tourney team."

"Oh, her!" Jay exclaimed as the memory of Nina came clear. "Ok then, continue, I promise I won't disturb you," he crossed his chest.

Jamilah gave Jay a skeptical look, knowing that he'd ask her more questions again.

She resumed where she had left off. "As I was saying, I know that Nina was looking out for me but at the time, I thought she was being nosy and that's where I went downhill. Because I was so loyal to Chad, I fell off in classes, particularly Chemistry and Mr. Deley assigned Shang as my tutor…."

"Mhm…I'm listening."

"Shang was nothing but a great tutor and that's where our friendship began since I never really talked to a guy other than him or my brothers. But, Chad found out and didn't like it at all."

Flashback

"Look Chad, Shang is just my tutor! I have no feelings towards him and neither does he!" Jamilah tried to explain, but she sounded frustrated, and rightfully so as Chad was being paranoid. "You're the only guy that I loved!"

"Don't care, Jamie," Chad told her harshly as he glared at her. "I don't want to see you anywhere near Shang. Understood?"

Jamilah's brown eyes widened in disbelief as she planted her hands on her hips. The princess couldn't believe what she was hearing but she had to stand her ground.

"Oh so it's illegal for me to talk to one guy but it's okay for you to flirt with multiple girls while you have a girlfriend?" Jamilah's right eye twitched, looking as if she wanted to snap. "Make it make sense, Chad."

"Look, these girls are after me and they knew I had a beautiful girlfriend," Chad said defensively, trying to deny the fact that he was flirting with other girls while dating Jamilah. "But my point remains the same, I don't want to see you near Shang."

"And if I continue to be near Shang, what you're gonna do?" Jamilah asked, sounding as if she was challenging her boyfriend.

Hearing this question, Chad stepped closer to Jamilah and whispered something in her ear; like a threat that made her shiver.

"Do you understand?" Chad asked in a stern tone.

Jamilah nodded her head timidly without uttering a word. Chad had threatened her.

"Good, now do me a favor and delete Shang's number from your phone and if you want to study, then study by yourself and then help me with my homework. Ok?"

"Ok," Jamilah replied quietly.

"Good girl!"

End of flashback

"So Chad had threatened to hurt me if I didn't obey him and it hurts so much that I had to delete Shang's number. Though I still talked to Shang, and Chad was pissed off when he found out, and he…" Jamilah let out a shaky breath and her eyes started to glisten.

"And he what, Jamilah?" Jay questioned. He was anxious about what Jamilah was going to say next and by the looks of it, it was not looking good. "Tell me what he did!" He demanded.

"Chad slapped me so hard in the face that it stings. The right side of my face was left swollen for a couple of days so I had to put on makeup to hide it."

"What?!" Jay exclaimed with his eyes nearly bulging out of its sockets.

Jamilah shook her head in agreement. "I know," she felt her throat start to burn or itch. "Every time that scene of Chad physically abusing me, it hurts deeply. And that's why I don't want to talk about it."

Jay's face softened as he saw Jamilah crying softly. "Shh, it's okay, Jamilah," the long-haired boy cooed as he scooted closer to the girl and wrapped a protective arm around her slender shoulders. "You don't need to say no more. I can tell it pierced you hard. I wouldn't be surprised if Chad cheated on you with another girl."

Jamilah sniffed. "He cheated on me with multiple girls behind my back for months until I found him making out with one of the cheerleaders in his dorm."

Jay sighed and tightened his hold around Jamilah and she didn't mind as she broke down softly at this point. "Jamilah, I'm so sorry that this happened to you. If I was in Auradon last year when this had happened, I'd beat the living daylights of Chad."

"You don't have to, Jay," Jamilah said softly as she rested her head on Jay's burly shoulder. "Aziz and Shang dealt with Chad and I'm grateful."

"Still, I'd beat the hell out of Chad for abusing and manipulating an awesome girl like you. If you didn't know, I hate seeing girls getting hurt. It's like a part of me died."

Jamilah looked up at him and gave him a tiny smile. "Jay, that's sweet of you. You sound like my mother who hates to see injustice."

"Hmph."

The two teens sat there for a moment until Jay unwrapped his arm around Jamilah but he remained close beside her.

Even though Jay had known Jamilah for two weeks, he felt as if he had known her for a long time and became so protective of her, especially when she told him about Chad being manipulative and abusive towards her.

There was a short silence between the two until Jay broke the silence.

"So that's why you're grossed out by dating?"

"I wouldn't say I'm grossed out," Jamilah said, looking down at the hem of her dress before fiddling with the hem. "It's just that I'm scared of being hurt and used again. As of now, my main focus for this year is to find my missing brother and focus on my mental health. Plus school."

"You sound very determined," Jay noted. "I like that."

"Thank you."

Jay hummed for a second, thinking of something when an idea popped into his head.

"Say, Jamilah," he began. "How about you and me do a little race on the field to see who's faster?"

Jamilah turned to Jay with a grin splitting her face. There, that's the smile he was looking for.

"I'd like that," Jamilah told him as she got up from her seat.

"Let's go then, princess."

With that said, Jay and Jamilah found themselves on the Tourney field, getting their marks before setting off. At the end of the race, Jamilah came first and she did a little victory dance.

"Woo hoo! I told you I'm more agile than you," Jamilah laughed as she continued with her little dance.

Jay playfully rolled his eyes and folded his arms. "That's because I was easy on you. Next time around, I won't be easy."

"Oh yeah? Let's see about that," Jamilah's brown eyes sparkled with challenge.

"You'll see. C'mon, let's get ready for supper. I'm a little hungry."

Jamilah nodded as she ran up to Jay and the both of them went to their respective dorms to get ready for their supper.
