Mario and Luigi are on a multiversal adventure to find the missing power stars. Will their actions have dramatic changes to these worlds and will it have unforeseen consequences. Only time will tell.

27. Chapter 27

Chapter 27: Princess Vivi's Decision, Farewell Alabasta

It was the next day and the Straw Hats and the Mario crew were well-rested after last night's soak. Unfortunately, the morning started with bad news. Starlow and Starlee informed everyone of what they had learned the night before. They had spent most of the night spying on Smoker after his declaration to continue his efforts in hunting Mario and the Straw Hats down. They had discovered that there was another marine named Hina in Alabasta and she had called in a group named the 'Disciple Trio' to come and apprehend Mario.

"Does that name sound familiar to you Vivi?"

Mario asked.

"I'm sorry, but no. I've never heard of this 'Disciple Trio' before. It's more than likely a name only known amongst the Marines. But I do recognize the other marine. Hina, or Iron Cage Hina as she is called. She is famous for her strategic formations, and then there's her devil fruit power."

"So she also has a devil fruit."

"Yes, I don't know the name of it, but it does contribute to her 'iron cage' name. It allows her to make iron shackles from her body, but I don't know how."

"Still, that's good to know. And this 'Disciple Trio' sounds troublesome as well."

"Then it's settled. We leave tonight!"

Nami declared with everyone nodding in agreement.

"Well, I better get back to work then. I still need to put the finishing touches on the project I'm working on."

The Straw Hats nodded as Mario left with his friends and the Rabbids. After they left, the others turned to Vivi.

"So, what about you?"

Luffy asked.

"What do you mean Luffy?"

"Are you staying here, or are you coming with us?"

This question caught Vivi by surprise. Being the princess, it was her duty to stay and help guide the people. But she has grown close to the Straw Hats and she was tempted to join them on their adventures. She was about to answer, but she stopped, not sure herself.

"We'll give you time to think about it. But you need to decide tonight."

Following Luffy's statement, he, Ace, and the crew left to pack up. Vivi was now alone with her thoughts.

"What... do I want?"

She asked herself, trying to find the right answer.

At the shoreline

Hina was on her ship, ordering all the other marine ships that had just arrived. She was coordinating them to make sure the Straw Hat Pirates didn't escape. Despite her confidence in the formation, she was unsure if it would work. This 'Red Cap Mario' was a troublesome individual. Not only did he turn down the offer to become a warlord, but his strength and abilities would make it almost impossible to keep the Straw Hats down. Not to mention his allies and their strange craft. She still couldn't believe Smoker's story.

"If that craft can fly, then my formations are useless. They might not even come back for the ship."

Hina had managed to locate the Straw Hats ship in a cave after "asking" some of the rebel members about it earlier. But if they have a ship that can fly, why would they need it? It would be better to abandon it altogether. As she was pondering on these questions, a marine came up to her.

"Captain Hina, the reinforcements have just arrived!"

"Excellent!"

Hina went to the deck to greet them.

"Welcome aboard, Vice Admiral Momonga, Vice Admiral Doberman, and Vice Admiral Onigumo! Thank you for answering our call for reinforcements."

The three men nodded at this.

"Of course, we'd answer. If this Red Cap is as powerful as Smoker's reports say then he needs to be taken out for the sake of justice."

Doberman, a large man with a split curling mustache, brown flowing hair, and numerous x-shaped scars on his face and neck said.

"Not to mention his crimes. A threat that only he has the tools to defeat and yet refuses to lend aid to the Navy. I'll see him put in Impel Down or dead."

Onigumo, a taller man with a stone-cold face and eyes added.

"It truly is a shame he refused Smoker's offer. Smoker may not have had to authority to do so, but Red Cap's assistance and power could have tipped the balance of power in the Navy's favor against the pirates of the world, especially the emperors. Nevertheless, we need the items and technology he possesses. HQ has made it a top priority to retrieve these 'Power Stars' and 'Sparks' from him."

Momonga, a man around the same height as Doberman with a mohawk and mustache, stated.

"Yes, Hina agrees. I have already placed marines around the Straw Hats ship in case they come back for it. We also have many warships surrounding Alabasta in preparation for their escape."

"Will that be enough?"

Doberman asked.

"According to Smoker's reports, they have another vessel that can fly. They won't be coming back for that old thing. And we don't have any weapons that can target a ship in the sky."

"If that's the case, then we'll use Geppo to reach them."

Momonga answered.

"Still, it would be wise to leave a contingent of marines at the Straw Hats ship. This may be what they're expecting. For us to focus on the sky and leave them an opening to escape."

"Yes sir, I agree. That is why I left some marines to guard it. In case they do come back for it."

"Good. And how goes the rest of the formations?"

"Nearly done, sir. We're just moving the last of the ships in place. We should be ready by tomorrow morning. Once we're done, we will storm Alabasta in search of the pirates."

"Any ideas where they are hiding?"

"Unfortunately no, Vice Admiral Momonga. They have been laying low for now. No doubt recovering after the battle with Crocodile and Cursa."

"I see, then we'll wait until the formations are ready."

"Yes sir!"

With that, the Marines went to prepare for the Straw Hats and Red Cap Mario. They needed to take them down now, especially Red Cap.

Later that night

Vivi was sitting in the room where her friends were staying. Now it was empty, no doubt they were preparing for their escape now that the Marines had arrived. She was still thinking about her decision when someone entered the room.

"Hey, Vivi."

Nami said as she entered.

"Oh, hey Nami. What are you doing here?"

"Just finishing up some packing. Your father did offer me a lot of books after all."

Nami said with a smirk. This made Vivi giggle a bit before a sad look came over her. Nami noticed this and sat beside Vivi.

"Still haven't made up your mind?"

"No. I didn't think it would be this hard to make the choice. On one hand, I achieved my goal and saved Alabasta from Crocodile with your help, so now I can resume my role as princess. On the other hand, I have grown fond of you all and consider all of you my closest friends. We fought, laughed, and shed blood and tears together. The prospect of exploring the world does excite me. I'm just, I don't know if I can make this choice."

Vivi was frantically ruffling her hair when Nami placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Calm down Vivi. Look, no matter what choice you make, we'll understand. We also consider you a close friend, no matter what."

This seemed to calm Vivi down.

"Thanks, I needed to hear that. Can you give me a moment? I need to think about this a little more."

"Of course, Vivi. If you decide to join us, we'll meet where we left the Merry."

"You mean the cave where the Resistance was?"

"Yeah. Well, I need to finish packing. Bye Vivi."

With that, Nami left, leaving Vivi alone with her thoughts. Vivi huddled up, burying her face into her knees. Even with Nami's words, she was still having trouble coming to a decision. She spent a few minutes curled up, until she lifted her face, now full of determination.

Morning

Dawn was breaking and the Marine ships under Hina's command were waiting around Alabasta. Many of the marines on the boats were confused. Not because of the amount of ships, that was standard. "Iron Cage Hina" did have a reputation to uphold after all, and the strategy was sound. It was because of who was joining them.

Three Vice Admirals were joining them in the capture of these pirates. This caused some fear in the men. Were the pirates that dangerous? Weren't they just rookies? Why send for three Vice Admirals to aid in their capture? These questions and more were stirring in the minds of the marines, causing some of them to have anxiety about facing these pirates. While the foot soldiers were on edge, the Vice Admirals were watching Alabasta carefully. They did not know how Red Cap would try to escape but were ready for anything.

"Look!"

One marine shouted as he pointed to the sky. Everyone looked to where he was pointing and saw a flying ship.

"That must be the flying vessel Red Cap has. Everyone, fire! Do not let them escape!"

Doberman ordered. All the marines began to fire their rifles at the aircraft while some tried to aim the cannons to fire.

"What the hell is taking so long?"

"We're sorry Vice Admiral, but that craft is too small and too fast. There's no way we'd be able to hit it with the cannons."

One of the men answered. Doberman growled at this, but he was right. These cannons were made to fire at ships, larger and slower targets that were made to sail on the sea.

"Damn, I guess we have no choice then. All men hold your fire! The Vice Admirals will handle this. Keep an eye out for any other fleeing ships."

Doberman ordered as he and the other Vice Admirals began to soar through the air using Geppo. As they approached, the ship began to fly around and evade them. Seeing this they began to spread out and surround the ship. Once they had it surrounded, they began to fire air slashes from their legs. The ship managed to avoid two, but the third one was about to hit, only for the attack to hit some kind of barrier.

"What!?"

The Vice Admirals were shocked at seeing this. Was this a devil fruit ability? Some kind of technological advancement belonging to the ship? Or another one of Red Cap's many abilities? It didn't matter, they still had to take Red Cap down, but where is he? Surely he would have come out by now, meanwhile, on the flying ship.

"Good thing I had those energy barriers installed. I knew they were a good idea."

"You mean, you knew it was a good idea after I explained in great detail how energy barriers would be necessary for any future space travel."

Jeanie corrected Beep-o, much to his annoyance.

"What!? Well, I mean, um, Ahem! Yes, yes, you did remind me to install them. Thank you. Now, are you all ready? We need to make an opening in those formations if Mario and his friends are to escape."

Beep-o asked the Rabbids. They all raised their weapons with a confident grin.

"Excellent! Jeanie, fly us down so we can start dropping them off."

"Understood."

Jeanie steered the ship towards two of the navy ships.

"It's coming right for us!"

"Open fire!"

Two marines yelled as they and the rest of the marines began to fire on the ship. But each bullet just bounced off the energy barrier. As it got close, the marines ducked down for cover, and the door to the ship opened up. Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Luigi jumped onto one ship while Rabbid Peach and Edge jumped onto another. The marines on board just stared at the strange creatures on their ship.

"What the hell are those things?"

"Who cares, they're from the enemy ship!"

"Surrender now!"

Most of the marines aimed their weapons at the Rabbids, hoping they would surrender. But Rabbids just smirked at this.

"Heh, bring it!"

Edge said as she and the others engaged the marines. The marines fired their weapons but were surprised at how quick the Rabbids were. Soon the Rabbids were taking out marines left and right while destroying the mast of the ship. After they were done, they jumped to another to create an opening in the formation.

"What the hell are those things?"

Onigumo asked.

"Must be those rabbit creatures Smoker mentioned in his report. They're uglier than I thought they would be."

Doberman answered. He moved his head to avoid a rocket fired by Rabbid Peach, who heard his comment.

"Hmph! Whatever they are, they're not our target. Focus on the flying ship. Red Cap must be in there."

Momonga said. The other Vice Admirals nodded in agreement and continued to chase after the flying ship. Hina watched the chase from her ship.

"This doesn't make any sense. Why are they staying to fight? With the ability to fly and the speed it's shown, they should have just left by now. They're up to something."

Hina said to herself. That's when one of her ships was hit by a cannonball.

"What the hell!? Where did that come from!?"

"Over there!"

A marine pointed at a ship sailing towards the ships that the Rabbids were destroying.

"It's the Straw Hats ship!"

"What!?"

Hina picked up a transponder snail to call the group that was stationed to guard the pirate ship.

"This is Captain Hina, come in unit 10. Unit 10? Come in!"

Hina yelled into the receiver. Unfortunately, the unit posted to guard the Merry was knocked out by Luffy and his crew.

"Damn it! All ships not engaged in combat, chase after the Straw Hats! Do not let them escape!"

All the ships not fighting the Rabbids began to sail after Going Merry.

"Looks like we got their attention."

Zoro stated as he gripped his swords in anticipation. He was wielding his regular swords since they weren't fighting foes wielding Darkmess.

"Not like we were expecting them to let us go."

Sanji added as he also got ready to fight.

"Bring it on."

Luffy said as he punched his fists together.

"Alright, Beep-o and Jeanie have the Vice Admirals' attention while the Rabbids are creating an opening for us. That means it's up to you three to protect us from the pursuing ships while we make our escape."

Nami ordered.

"Right!"

"Usopp, take out as many ships as you can! The bigger the opening, the better!"

"Right!"

Usopp answered as he loaded another cannonball.

"Chopper, keep us on course!"

"Right!"

Chopper shouted as he steered the Merry. While this was all happening, Vivi was on the shore, watching them leave and giving a speech about her adventure that could be heard by the whole kingdom. As soon as the warships were close enough, they fired upon the Merry.

"AH! They just fired at us!"

Usopp cried in fear.

"No problem. Now Gum-Gum..."

"Luffy, wait!"

Nami shouted, getting a closer look at the projectiles.

"Those aren't cannonballs, they're spears!"

It was revealed that the warships had fired large iron spears at the Merry instead of cannonballs.

"Crap, Luffy can't deflect those!"

"They'll run right through him!"

Zoro and Sanji shouted as they ran to deflect the iron spears. It appeared that they wouldn't make it, until.

"FIRE FIST!"

A large fireball suddenly flew at the spears and melted them before they reached the Navy.

"Hey, need a hand?"

Ace asked as he sailed beside the Merry on his smaller boat.

"Ace!"

"Yeah, and thanks!"

Luffy and Nami said in excitement and gratitude. Meanwhile, Hina stared at the scene in shock.

"What!? Why is Fire Fist Ace with them!? This just became much more complicated."

Hina growled before she turned to her men.

"Men! Fire Fist Ace has allied himself with the Straw Hat Pirates! I do not know why, but I do know that we absolutely cannot let them escape! If they are working together it could only bring disaster to the peace we protect! On your honor as Marines, capture those pirates!"

The men roared at Hina's declaration and continued the chase with renewed vigor.

"Oh, man. Those marines sound excited to catch us."

Usopp said.

"Probably because of me. I may have made things harder for you all. My bad."

Ace said while rubbing the back of his head.

"It doesn't matter. They were going to chase us no matter what. This just makes it more fun."

"Agreed."

Luffy said with Zoro and Sanji nodding with him. Nami smacked their heads in annoyance.

"That's not a good thing you idiots. Wait, who's guarding the other side of the ship?"

They all looked to see a couple of warships firing upon the unguarded side. They all panicked until the spears were blown out of the sky by red and green fireballs.

"Those fireballs, it could only be, Mario!"

Luffy shouted as another ship came into view with Mario and his friends on it. The ship they were riding was slightly bigger than the Merry and had a star as the figurehead. Needless to say, the Straw Hats were impressed by the new ship.

"Whoa... Mario, was this the surprise?"

Luffy asked as Mario, flying in his tanooki suit, pulled the ship closer to Luffy's.

"Yep. I figured with more crewmates we would need more room."

"So cool!"

Usopp and Chopper said in awe.

"Alright, enough admiring the new ship. We still have the Marines chasing us."

Nami ordered. Everyone nodded and got to work. Luigi began to fire his Sharpshooter at the navy ships, taking out the mast of each ship he fired upon in one shot.

"Damn, he can give Usopp a run for his money."

Sanji commented.

"Oh yeah? I'll just have to show you all my true power!"

Usopp began to fire with more vigor, mentally declaring Luigi as his rival. As more navy ships were destroyed, the Vice Admirals in the air stopped chasing Beep-o to see the destruction.

"What the, how did? ...! The flying ship was a decoy, Red Cap is on that other ship!"

Momonga shouted once he saw Mario, now in his normal form, shooting down spears that were fired at his ship. He dove towards Mario with the other two Vice Admirals following him. Mario was still shooting down spears when he dodged a sword thrust from the sky. Mario turned to see the three Vice Admirals staring him down.

"You've caused enough trouble, Red Cap. This is the end for you."

Momonga said as he, Doberman, and Onigumo stood ready to fight. Mario got into a fighting stance with Peach, Luigi, Mallow, and Geno joining him. The ships that were firing at them saw the Vice Admirals land on Mario's ship.

"Hold your fire! The Vice Admirals have engaged Red Cap in close combat! Hold fire until they are clear of the combat zone!"

The current commander shouted. All ships stopped firing so as not to hit the Vice Admirals by mistake.

"Oh man, Mario and the others are facing three Vice Admirals."

Usopp said. Luffy and the rest of the crew were ready to jump in and help when,

"Guys, we got company!"

Ace shouted as he landed on the deck. Everyone turned to see Hina's ship close in on them. Once they were close enough, Hina, along with some of her men, jumped on board.

"Surrender now Straw Hats!"

Hina ordered.

"Looks like we'll have to fight."

"Bring it on!"

Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Ace ran forward and began to fight the marines on their ship. As Sanji kicked a couple off the Merry, he avoided an overhead punch from another.

"Finally, I'll make you pay for what you did to me you damn cook."

The marine said, but Sanji was confused.

"Um, what? I'm sorry, but have we met before?"

The marine was stunned by this.

"You don't remember!? I'm Fullbody! I was the officer you attacked back at the Baratie!"

"Did I? Sorry, I'm still drawing a blank. Besides, I only remember the faces of beautiful women, so."

"Why you, I'll make you remember me!"

Fullbody tried to punch Sanji, but Sanji ducked and kicked Fullbody in the chin. Then, while he was stunned, sent him flying back to his ship with a roundhouse kick.

"And you're way too weak to be taking me on."

Sanji was about to fight more marines, but he saw some guy waving a pendulum in front of him. Sanji found himself in a trance, unable to move.

"Got ya. Now at the count of Jango, you will surrender yourself to the Marines. One, two, Ja- Gah!"

The man was blown off the Merry by Usopp who fired an exploding bullet.

"That's for Kaya you creep! Man, how did he join the Marines?"

Usopp asked in annoyance, but proud that he managed to get the guy that almost hurt Kaya, his friend back home.

"Hey! You okay Sanji?"

Sanji began to shake himself free of the trance.

"Yeah, thanks Usopp. I let my guard down."

"Don't mention it."

The two went back to fighting the Marines on their ship. While this was happening, Mario and his friends had started their fight with the three Vice Admirals. Mario was facing off with Momonga, Peach was against Onigumo, and Luigi was fighting Doberman. Mallow and Geno were standing back and watching to see if the ships started to fire again, or if Mario, Luigi, or Peach needed help.

Back on the Merry, Hina watched as her men were being bested by the Straw Hats. She wasn't expecting them to be this strong. She thought Red Cap Mario was the muscle behind them, but she could see that they were all dangerous. She decided to step in, and her first target was Ace. Ace saw her charging at her and just grinned, expecting his passive intangibility to save him. But that's what Hina was counting on. When she tried to punch him, her fist went through his body, but then he heard the clicking of handcuffs. He looked up to see she had cuffed his left hand with seastone handcuffs.

"What?"

Was the only word he could say before he felt his strength leave him. Hina smirked as she cuffed him to the railing.

"That's why Hina likes fighting overconfident logia users. You always let your guard down believing you're untouchable. Makes you predictable opponents."

Ace could only glare at her, but couldn't deny she was right. He had let his guard down too easily. He should've known she had a plan to take him out, he is infamous after all. There's no way they wouldn't know he was a logia. Hina turned to the rest of the Straw Hats and prepared to take them out.

Mario was still fighting Momonga when he noticed Ace on his knees. He pushed Momonga back to get a better look. He noticed Ace was handcuffed and looked winded. He assumed those handcuffs were made to catch devil fruit users.

"Luigi! Ace needs help.! Go! We'll handle these guys!"

Luigi saw this and disengaged from Doberman to aid Ace.

"Where the hell do you think you're going?"

Doberman tried to follow but was stopped by a beam of light. Doberman looked to see Geno had fired at him.

"I'm your opponent now marine."

"Damn doll."

Back on the Merry, Hina was picking out her next target when she had to dodge a lighting blast. Luigi landed in front of her, ready to fight.

"Tch. Wasn't expecting you pirates to stick your necks out for each other."

"He's my friend."

"Then you can join him in incarceration!"

Hina rushed forward and threw a right hook. Luigi raised his arm to block but was shocked to see her arm pass through his. Not only did her attack go through his arm, it left his arms in shackles. While Luigi was shocked, she swept his legs, her leg passing through his and leaving them in shackles as well.

"What the!?"

"My devil fruit, now you're helpless."

"You-a think so?"

Luigi was about to break his shackles, but he stopped. Hina was confused and noticed Luigi was looking into the sky. Was this a distraction, some kind of tactic to get her to drop her guard? She was wondering this when Luigi started to smile.

"Hey, Ace. Want to see the benefits of having an overprotective girlfriend?"

Luigi asked. Ace was confused by his question and was shocked by what happened next. Luigi sat down and began to act helpless.

"Help! She's being mean to me!"

Everyone was shocked by this, even Mario and the other Mushroom Kingdom inhabitants. They were wondering what he was doing until they looked up and saw what Luigi saw.

"Oh."

Mario and Peach said before grinning, knowing what was about to happen. Hina was getting frustrated at this and was about to ask what Luigi was doing until she noticed a shadow growing over her. She looked up just in time to see someone deck her in the face and send her flying into a wall.

"Hey, Poison ripoff! Hands off my man!"

The brunette woman wearing an orange dress said.

"Poison, from Street Fighter?" Luigi asked as he examined Hina more closely. "I don't see it."

He shrugged before the woman came up and ripped his shackles off.

"Luigi, are you okay? Did you miss me?"

She asked as she pulled Luigi into a hug.

"I'm fine now Daisy. And yes, I missed you. It's good to see you joined us."

"Heck yeah, no way am I missing out on another adventure with you guys! Now then,"

Daisy turned to the marines still onboard the Merry with a glare.

"Who's next?"

She asked with a grin while cracking her knuckles. The marines began to back up in fear as Hina picked herself up.

"Who are you? Hina demands an answer!"

"Hi, I'm Daisy. And who the heck refers to themselves in the third person? So weird."

"Huh!? Who are you calling weird? And what's your connection to these pirates?"

"Pirates?"

Daisy scratched her chin, wondering what the woman was talking about.

"She means me, Daisy."

Luigi answered.

"What!? You're a pirate!? That's, that's,"

Hina was smiling, believing she may have turned Daisy against Luigi with this revelation.

"That's so cool!"

But that smile turned into a frown upon hearing Daisy's reaction.

"Well, it doesn't matter. Even if he is a pirate, he's still my Luigi, and you tried to hurt him."

Hina got into a fighting stance as Daisy approached.

"How sweet, then you can join him at Impel Down!"

Hina rushed forward and swung her arm at Daisy. Daisy put up her arms to block but was surprised to see Hina's arm go through hers and leave them in iron shackles.

"Huh? What is this?"

"It's my devil fruit. I am called 'Iron Cage' Hina after all."

"Devil fruit? Never heard of that before. Oh well."

Daisy began to pull at the shackles.

"You won't be able to,"

Hina was interrupted when Daisy broke her shackles.

"What!?"

"As if those would be enough to hold me. Now let's go!"

Daisy charged at Hina and threw a left hook. Hina put up her arm and caged Daisy's arm, but it didn't matter. No matter how many times Hina caged or shackled Daisy, she would break out with her absurd strength.

"What the hell are you? How are you so strong?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?"

Daisy continued to attack while Hina tried to block or dodge the attacks. This continued until Hina slipped up and Daisy caught her.

"Got you!"

Daisy began to mercilessly beat on Hina, all the while the marines under her just watched. Fullbody and Jango watched in fear and tears from Hina's ship.

"No, Captain Hina."

They whimpered. After a few moments, Daisy lifted Hina by the collar of her shirt.

"Had enough?"

"Damn... pirate..."

"Hmm, seems like you need to cool off."

Daisy then threw Hina into the water.

"Daisy, no!"

Luigi shouted, confusing her.

"What? She's still conscious. It's not like she can't swim, right?"

Daisy said as she looked at the water for confirmation. But she saw Hina was struggling and beginning to sink.

"She can swim, right?"

Daisy asked nervously. Luigi was about to dive in to save Hina, but Fullbody and Jango jumped in to save her already.

"Captain Hina!"

"Are you alright?"

"Don't worry, we got you."

"Damn pirates, you'll pay for this!"

Fullbody and Jango shouted as they pulled Hina back to her ship. Luigi sighed in relief while Daisy just shrugged. Daisy then turned to the other marines while Luigi freed Ace.

"So, do you want to continue?"

Daisy asked with a grin. The other marines began to back up in fear again. While they were doing this, one looked to Mario's ship to see Doberman giving him an intimidating glare. With greater fear of the Vice Admiral instilled within them, they roared and continued to fight the Straw Hats and their allies. Having convinced the grunts to fight, Doberman turned back to his opponent.

"Now, what the hell are you?"

Doberman asked Geno.

"A friend of Mario."

Geno answered back as he took a fighting stance. Doberman just sneered at this.

"Fine, Vegapunk can find out once we deliver you and your friends to him."

Doberman charged forward and swung at Geno. Geno was able to evade and fired some bullets from his fingers. But Doberman blocked them with his arm. Geno was shocked to see his bullets didn't leave a scratch on him.

"Surprised? This is the power of a Vice Admiral!"

"I see. Then I'll use a little more of my power."

Geno and Doberman continued to fight. Meanwhile, Peach was evading all of Onigumo's sword swings, taunting him all the while.

"~La, la la, la la, la~

Peach sang as she danced around Onigumo's attacks.

"You bitch! How dare you make a fool of me. Hmph, then let's kick this up a notch."

Onigumo smirked as six spider-like limbs grew from his back, each one wielding a blade.

"Now let's see if you can still dodge my attacks."

"Ew, you look like a spider now."

"How perceptive of you, pirate scum."

"Oh, so you ate a spider devil fruit. Well then, I know how to take care of you."

Peach reached into her pocket space and pulled out her trusty frying pan. Onigumo had an annoyed look upon seeing this.

"Is this a joke to you? How do you expect to fight me with that?"

"Why don't you come over and find out?"

Onigumo had enough of this woman and rushed forward to end her. He brought down one of his swords and Peach swung up her frying pan in response. Onigumo assumed this was the end since there was no way a cooking tool could beat a weapon. But to his surprise, his sword had shattered against Peach's frying pan. Onigumo backed away in shock, staring at his broken weapon.

"What the hell? What is that thing made of?"

He asked himself.

"Yoohoo! Are you ready to go again? Or do you give up?"

Peach asked. Onigumo looked back at her with a glare. Deciding not to take any more chances, he coated his blades with haki. Peach noticed that his remaining blades took on an obsidian-black color.

"Oh my, trying out something new now?"

"This will ensure your defeat pirate."

Onigumo charged and swung his remaining blades down, but was surprised, yet again, when Peach blocked it with her frying pan.

"What the hell is that thing made out of!?"

Onigumo asked in a state of disbelief and shock.

"Not sure exactly, but this frying pan was strong enough to harm a being who could eat space and time."

"That's, that's impossible! You lie!"

"Want to find out?"

Peach pushed Onigumo back and unleashed an upward swing with her frying pan. Onigumo crossed his haki-imbued swords to block Peach's attack. But Peach's attack broke through, breaking his blades, and sending Onigumo flying. He landed on the deck, unconscious.

"Oh, did I win?"

Peach taunted while doing a victory sign. Meanwhile, Doberman was fighting against Geno. He was having trouble hitting Geno while blocking the attacks Geno sent at him. Seeing that his bullets weren't hurting Doberman, Geno decided to switch up his attacks. He aimed his arm at Doberman, and instead of the tips of his fingers opening up, his hand folded down to reveal an opening from his arm. Doberman was confused by this, but then he saw a larger bullet fired from the arm. He was about to block it, but his instincts told him to dodge. He evaded the bullet and rushed at Geno, slashing at his midsection with a haki-imbued blade. Geno managed to block the attack with his other arm, much to Doberman's shock.

"You must be made of strong stuff. You managed to block my attack without haki."

"Haki? Is that what turned your blade black? Interesting. I don't suppose you would be willing to explain what haki is?"

Geno asked. Doberman just continued to glare at him.

"I thought not, oh well."

Geno pushed Doberman back and cupped his hands together. Doberman noticed a small disk forming in his hands. Doberman rushed forward, intent on not letting Geno finish his attack. He slashed at Geno to stop him but was shocked to see Geno was gone.

"Over here."

Doberman turned to see Geno land behind him, revealing he had leaped over Doberman.

"Geno Whirl!"

Geno fired the finished energy disk from his hands at Doberman.

"Tekkai!"

Seeing the attack, Doberman covered his body in haki while using a defensive technique that made his muscles as hard as iron. Surely the combined defensive power of these two techniques could stop this attack. But to his horror, the disk went through him, completely bypassing his defenses. Luckily, Geno only used enough power to incapacitate, not kill. Doberman coughed up blood as he glared at Geno.

"You... You, Red Cap, and your allies... are far... too dangerous. Sir Akainu... I've failed... you."

Doberman said as he fell unconscious. Geno sighed, worried that this battle may make things harder for his friends later on.

"Mallow, could you heal him? Not enough to wake him up, so that he doesn't die. I wasn't expecting the power gap between us to be so great."

Geno explained, realizing just how much stronger he and his friends are compared to the people of this world. Mallow nodded and healed up most of Doberman's wounds with his healing rain. Back with Mario, he had just punched Momonga in the face. Momonga recovered and stood facing Mario, frustrated at how the battle was going. Nothing was working, his training, his techniques, even haki didn't shift the battle in his favor. He was starting to believe Smoker's reports of Red Cap being as strong as an Admiral, maybe even stronger. Momonga got ready for another round, but Mario just crossed his arms and smiled.

"It's-a over."

Momonga was confused by Mario's statement. That's when he heard two thuds behind him. He looked to see his fellow Vice Admirals on the ground and out cold.

"Now, you have two options. Option one: I knock you out and throw you and your allies off of our ship. Or option two: you take your friends and leave of your own accord. Your choice friend."

Momonga looked at his allies and the Straw Hats ship. He noticed all the marines under Hina and Hina herself had been defeated and were being unceremoniously dumped onto her damaged ship. He sighed, not liking what he had to do.

"It's our defeat. Very well, you win today Red Cap. But this isn't over! The Navy won't let you get away with this. Mark my words, we will hunt you down to the ends of the Grandline!"

Momonga shouted as he picked up his allies and flew away with Geppo. Mario just shook his head at this. He didn't want to antagonize the Navy, but it couldn't be helped. Their top scientist did have two Power Stars after all. He was gonna butt heads with them eventually. He was looking at the ships that were trapping him, noticing that the Rabbids had done their job and made an opening.

"Okie dokie, Luigi!"

"Yeah, Mario?"

"We have an opening up ahead. We need to pull the ships through while we have a chance!"

Mario explained as he activated his Tanooki power-up. Luigi nodded and activated his Kitsune power-up. They grabbed the ropes belonging to the Merry and Mario's ship and began to pull them towards the opening. Beep-o, seeing that their job was done, flew down to pick up the Rabbids.

"Okay everyone, hop on board. We're getting out of here!"

Beep-o announced. As the Rabbids were getting on, he noticed another navy ship was being destroyed.

"Um, who is that?"

"Oh, Daisy got here with backup. We need to pick them up."

Rabbid Edge explained. Beep-o understood and flew to the other ship. On the navy ship, the Marines were panicking as two assailants were destroying the deck and beating the men. Next to the broken mast was Rabbid Yoshi, a Rabbid wearing a Yoshi costume. He had a small Gatling Gun shaped like a Yoshi egg firing upon the soldiers. On the deck, the men were trying to fight off something attacking them. One marine rushed forward with his sword, only to be caught by the creature's long tongue. It then pulled him into its mouth and swallowed him.

"Oh no, it ate Joe!"

Another marine said in fear. The creature then laid an egg and threw it at the frightened marine. The marine was knocked down while the egg shattered and the marine from before landed on him.

"Oh, hey Joe."

"What the hell is that thing!?"

Another marine asked. That's when Beep-o flew next to the ship.

"Yoshi, Rabbid Yoshi, get on!"

Beep-o shouted. Yoshi and Rabbid Yoshi hopped onto the ship. The marines tried to shoot the ship down, but their bullets bounced off its forcefield as it took off. It was now too far for the Marines to shoot down. With the others, Mario and Luigi had just pulled the ships past the destroyed ships and escaped. While this was happening, Vivi was watching from the shoreline, having finished her speech. She was speaking into a device that broadcasted her message all over the kingdom. She was hoping her speech would reach her friends but with the battle they had, she doubted it. She was beginning to cry, not being able to say a proper goodbye.

"That was a wonderful speech, Vivi."

Vivi turned around and was shocked to see Mario giving a slow clap.

"Mario! What are you doing here!?"

"It's-a okay Vivi. I'm just a clone made from a power-up. I managed to record your speech and sent it to the main body already. The others will be able to hear your speech."

Vivi smiled, but then Mario stumbled, as though he was hurt.

"Mario!?"

"It's-a fine. I'm just a clone, the main body is getting too far away. Here, we made this for you."

Mario handed Vivi a small present. As Vivi took it, Mario tipped his hat and poofed out of existence. Vivi opened the present and inside was a cake with blue frosting and a picture of the Merry on it. Vivi began to tear up but then noticed something in the corner of the box. It was a picture frame, she took it out and saw that it was a picture of Mario, Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Sanji, Usopp, and Chopper. They were smiling, and the picture was signed by all the Straw Hats, and on the back, Mario had written a message.

Vivi was crying tears of joy. She wiped them off and put on a brave face. With newfound determination, she got on Karoo and rode back to Alabasta. Her friends helped her free her kingdom, now it's up to her to keep it safe and well. It's her duty as its princess.

Back with the Straw Hats, they were resting after their escape. Peach then handed everyone a small brown jar.

"What's this?"

Nami asked.

"It's a syrup jar. Drink it, it'll make you feel better."

The Straw Hats are hesitant, but after seeing Mallow and Geno drink it, they drink up.

"Wow, that's delicious. Hey, I feel full of energy now."

"What kind of syrup is this? It would be great for desserts."

Usopp and Sanji commented. Everyone else was happily drinking the syrup until Nami noticed Mario was not drinking his.

"Mario, is something wrong?"

Everyone turned to see Mario just staring at his syrup jar. Mario took the jar and tried to take a sip, but it looked like it was painful for him to drink it. He kept trying to taste it, but he didn't and slammed it down.

"Nope! Sorry, I can't! I can't drink this!"

Mario shouted.

"Oh dear, you're still suffering from the one hundred jump challenge."

Peach said with Mallow and Geno nodding in agreement. Everyone else was confused by this.

"Um, what does she mean by that? What's the one hundred jump challenge?"

Ace asked Luigi.

"I do not know."

Luigi answered, surprising everyone.

"I'll explain later, but first."

Peach grabbed the syrup jar and went into the kitchen of Mario's ship. Everyone was wondering what she was doing with it. After a couple of minutes, she came out with pink syrup.

"Here, try this Mario."

Mario grabbed the syrup jar and stared at it. He smelled it and decided to try it.

"Well, here goes nothing."

Mario took a sip while everyone watched with anticipation. After tasting it, Mario's eyes widened and he drank the whole thing.

"Wow, that was great Peach!"

Everyone was in awe.

"What did you do?"

Sanji asked.

"Sorry, but it's a trade secret."

Peach said with a giggle. Sanji nodded, believing that a man shouldn't pry into a woman's secrets, but Luffy didn't agree.

"Aw, come on! Tell us!"

*Wack!*

Luffy was quickly kicked away by Sanji.

"If she doesn't want to tell us, then she doesn't have to. Moron."

"Well, can you at least tell us about that 'one hundred jump' challenge?"

Nami asked.

"Of course, but first, introductions!"

"Oh right, we have new crew members."

Luffy said as he got up. Soon, everyone was on the main decks of the Merry and Mario's ship.

"Okay, so who's going to start?"

Zoro asked.

"Wait a moment, we need everyone to be here first."

Peach said, confusing everyone.

"But we're all here already."

Chopper said.

"Not quite Chopper. You can come out now."

Peach's words continued to confuse everyone, but Mario seemed to know what she was talking about. Soon, a door to the storage of the Merry opened and Nico Robin came out.

"What!?"

"How!?"

"It's you!"

"A beautiful woman!"

Nami, Usopp, Zoro, and Sanji said at her reveal.

"Fufufufu, how did you know where I was hiding princess?"

Robin asked. Peach just smiled and pointed to Starlow and Starlee.

"These two saw you during the battle."

"~We saw you! We saw you!~"

Starlow and Starlee sang out as they circled each other. Robin just laughed at this but noticed Zoro, Nami, and Usopp prepping their weapons. She smirked before they were slapped out of their hands.

"I thought I told you that I didn't like weapons being pointed at me."

Zoro, Nami, and Usopp glared at her while everyone else was just staring and Sanji was doing his weird noodle dance. There was an awkward silence until Nami spoke up.

"So why are you here? To take revenge for your boss?"

Robin just laughed, angering Nami.

"Now why would I want that?"

"Huh? Well, you were working for him, and we took him out."

"Fufufu, I have no desire to seek revenge for Crocodile. He was just an employer, plus he sold me out to Cursa."

"He did?"

"Oh, you didn't know? Cursa needs a body to access her full power. I was a sacrifice so Crocodile could gain access to her power, not that it helped."

"Okay, then if you aren't here for revenge, why are you here?"

"Well, since Baroque Works is done, I figured I would stay with you all."

"Like hell you are! There's no way we would allow you to stay on our ship!"

Nami declared. Robin just stared back, not intimidated by her outburst. Then she turned to Mario.

"Well, Mario? This ship may belong to Straw Hat Luffy, but the other is yours, is it not? Will you take responsibility for your actions and let me stay on your ship?"

"Huh? What does she mean by that Mario?"

Nami asked. Everyone was curious about this as well looking at Mario for an answer. Sanji was gritting his teeth while glaring at Mario.

"He did something unbearable to me, and now he has to take responsibility for it."

"What!? What 'unbearable' things did you do to her Mario!?"

Sanji yelled as he jumped onto Mario's ship to grab him, only to be stopped by Peach.

"Sanji, let Mario explain himself."

"But, Peach."

"Hey! Didn't you hear her you weirdo? Or do you need a knock on the head?"

Daisy asked. Sanji backed off while muttering about how unfair it was that Mario had lovely ladies protecting him.

"Hey, what are you talking about? What did Mario do?"

Luffy asked.

"I wanted to die back at Alabasta, but Mario saved me and gave me a will to live. So, he should take responsibility and let me stay on his ship."

Robing explained. Luffy pondered on this before he turned to Mario.

"Hey, Mario, is she a good person?"

Mario nodded and gave a thumbs-up.

"Alright, there isn't any other choice then, welcome aboard."

"LUFFY!"

The Straw Hats shouted in shock.

"Come on, if Mario says she's a good person then I trust him. Plus, I don't think she'll do anything bad."

"Are you serious!?"

"Well, now that that's settled, let's continue with introductions."

Peach said, but Nami wasn't done.

"No! Nothing's been settled! He can't just say she's on the crew just like that!"

"Oh, but isn't he the captain?"

This statement stopped Nami in her tracks.

"I mean, yeah, he is, but still."

"How about we let her introduce herself and then we can continue from there."

"Urg, fine!"

"Good, now, if you could start, miss?"

"Hmm, my codename in the organization was Miss All Sunday, but since they are gone now, my name is Nico Robin."

"Good, now who's next?"

"How about your new friends?"

Zoro said pointing to Daisy, Yoshi, and Rabbid Yoshi. Daisy decided to take the lead and introduce herself next.

"Hi, I'm Daisy."

"Hello, Daisy. Are you a princess like Peach?"

Usopp asked, noting the similarity between Peach and Daisy's clothing.

"Yep, I'm the princess of Sarasland."

The Straw Hats stood in awe of having another princess on their crew. That's when Sanji leaped forward with hearts in his eyes.

"Oh my, to think I would meet another princess. I believe I have become completely enamored by your beauty Daisy. You are more beautiful than any flower in the world!"

"Um, thanks, I guess."

Daisy was a bit creeped out by Sanji's behavior.

"Just say the word, and I will do anything you want. In fact, why don't I cook you a lovely lunch? Or would you prefer a dessert? I can make anything you desire."

"I'm fine, thanks."

"Then would you do me the honors of a date?"

"Huh? No, I'm sorry, but I already have my Luigi."

Daisy said as she grabbed Luigi's arm.

"What!? Damn it! Why are all the princesses taken?"

Sanji asked as he fell into a depressive state.

"Um, is he okay?"

"Ignore the curly-brow pervert's antics."

Zoro said. Sanji heard this and went from depressed to angry in a second.

"What did you say, you shitty moss-head?"

"You heard me, you stupid love cook."

Zoro and Sanji got into each other's faces until Nami punched them.

"Knock it off already you morons!"

"Yes, Nami-swan!"

"Grr, damn woman."

Sanji and Zoro said while sprawled out on the ground.

"Now, the other two."

Nami said to get things back on track. Yoshi walked up and began to introduce himself, but no one, besides Mario and his friends, could understand him.

"Huh?"

"He said 'I'm Yoshi and it's great to meet you!'"

Chopper translated.

"You could understand him?"

Daisy asked.

"Yeah, I'm a reindeer after all. I can understand all kinds of animal talk."

"Whoa, you're a strange reindeer. I thought they walked on four legs and were bigger."

"Oh, well I ate the human-human fruit and became a reindeer human."

"Huh? Human-human fruit?"

"I'll explain later Daisy?"

Luigi said. Daisy nodded and everyone turned to Rabbid Yoshi.

"This is Rabbid Yoshi."

"Okay, why did you introduce him, Mario? Can he not speak?"

"No, not really."

The Straw Hats were confused by this and stared at Rabbid Yoshi. He seemed to be staring off with his tongue hanging out of his mouth like some kind of wild animal.

"I see, is he, well, you know, not all there?"

Nami asked, pointing to her head.

"Um, well, hmmm, we're not quite sure ourselves, but he's a reliable ally to have in a fight. Trust me."

Mario answered. The Straw Hats just accepted this answer.

"Alright, let's break out the booze. It's time to welcome our new crewmates!"

Luffy shouted.

"Hey! Don't go making decisions like that by yourself Luffy!"

Nami shouted back, angry at his rash decision-making.

"Hey, I never said I was going to be part of your crew."

Ace said, having watched the introductions.

"Come on Ace, you can join us in celebration."

Luffy said. Ace just chuckled at this.

"I guess a drink won't hurt."

"Yeah, that's something I would like to talk about Luffy. We're going to need to split up."

Mario said, shocking Luffy and his friends.

"Huh!? What do you mean?"

"Now let me explain. I mean specifically me and my friends."

Mario gestured to him, Luigi, and their allies.

"Why? You just got back together?"

Usopp asked.

"Because, in addition to finding the Power Stars, we now need to deal with Cursa and her new ally Blackbeard. I still don't like how he resonated with Darkmess. That's a bad sign."

Ace couldn't help but frown and agree with Mario on this. Teach's devil fruit proved incredibly dangerous, and combined with Cursa's power, even he has to admit that would be too much for him. He was planning on asking Mario or Luigi for help in dealing with them. Luckily, it seems like Mario was on the same page.

"I see, well some of you were sent here to defeat Cursa. It makes sense. So how are you dividing your team, Mario?"

"We discussed that last night. Luigi and the Rabbids will be joining Ace in hunting down Cursa and her new partner."

Luigi looked to Ace who gave a smile and a nod of approval.

"Cool, looks like I get to ride in the flying ship."

Luffy pouted for a bit before turning back to Mario.

"And that leaves me, Peach, Mallow, and Geno to continue sailing with you all."

"Um, hello? What about us?"

Daisy asked pointing to her and Yoshi.

"Daisy, we made these plans last night, before you got here, so we didn't account for you and Yoshi."

Peach explained.

"But, since you are here, what team do you want to join?"

Mario asked.

"Obviously I'm staying with my Luigi!"

Daisy answered as she pulled Luigi into a hug. Sanji saw this and fell into another depression while cursing Luigi's luck.

"Okie dokie, and you Yoshi?"

Yoshi thought about this for a bit, before making some Yoshi sounds.

"'Since you'll have fewer members on your team, I want to join you Mario' is what he said."

Chopper explained.

"Then it's-a settled. Will that be okay with you Luffy?"

"Shishishi, of course it is. Now we party! Oh, by the way, what's the name of your ship?"

"Yeah, I've been wondering that myself."

Usopp said with the others also interested.

"Hmm, I did model the figurehead after a star since we are star children. I got it! I name this ship, The Shooting Star!"

"Awesome."

Luffy, Chopper, and Usopp said in awe. With everything settled, they all began to drink and party, celebrating new friends and more adventures.

And that's the end of the chapter. The disciple trio and their fight with Mario and his friends was inspired by a fight scene in The Lost Samurai's One Piece story.
