This will be my very first fanfiction so please be constructive and give me a few pointers if needed. All I own are my OCs and story arcs. I'll explain every thing at the end of a chapter or at the beginning of the next one. here we go.

Chapter 1

It was snowing lightly in a small town. Snow has already covered the entire town, the buildings, the road, the sidewalk everything is covered in the white powder snow. Somehow, the Christmas lights are still shining through the snowy night. With all the different colors of lights with a snowy night, somehow make the freezing weather have a hint of beauty to it. Especially with a choir singing Christmas classics on the radio. All and all, a nice Christmas Eve to take a stroll...even though the street is mostly empty.

We see a young women in her late twenties to early thirties, about 5'8, with an hourglass figure, long wavy red hair and a beautiful clear face, and she even has a fair skin tone with green eyes. For the current weather she is wearing a black stocking cap to cover her head and ears, a brown wool scarf, a red winter pea-coat that goes just above the knees, black gloves, blue jeans and brown heeled boots. She to many people, would love to go out with her. Walking right next to her was a boy, no older than eleven years old. He has short messy blond hair, blue eyes, black winter coat of his size, black fingerless gloves, dark blue jeans and black and white sneakers. His name is Jonah Monroe, and is the son of Alice Monroe.

As they're walking to their temporary home for the holidays, Jonah couldn't hold his joyful snickering as he is hugging a small gift all wrapped up for Christmas morning. As Alice started to notice she gives her son a knowing smile, already knowing what his gift is and who it's for. Because she purchased it. "You really are excited aren't you?" Alice asked with a knowing mother smile. Jonah looked back at her with a wide smile of his own. Saying he would be giddy is not even close to how happy he was.

"Of course I am." Jonah replied, holding his gift out for the world to her. The gift was a small box wrapped in blue with white snowflakes wrapping paper with a blue bow. The box was as big as both his hands together. "I have been eyeing this gift for Luke ever since we arrived to this town. You know he likes this stuff." Jonah explained, with his smile still on his face.

"I know what he likes. I know what you both like" She said with a smile of her own "I am your mother after all." As she said that her right hand snuck its way on top of her kids head and ruffled the boys hair and as they both laughed she says "Nothing gets past me." As both mother and son were laughing and walking together, Alice pulled her son into a side hug. " You know I don't regret this right?"

"Why would you.." Jonah was interrupted when they both heard a cat call whistle, from some shady stranger who almost passed them both but stopped and started to walk with them. He was very slender, and lanky, almost the same height as Alice. He was wearing a zipped up dark brown coat with a fur collar camo pants and snow boots. He has very dirty teeth and short buzz cut brown hair.

"Hey hot stuff, why don't you ditch the kid and have some holiday cheer with me." The stranger tried to ask her out. But failed miserably. This obviously irked both mother and son

"Thanks for the compliment, now take a hike." Alice replied, without even looking at him.

"Come on, I promise you get to call the shots. In fact, you can be naughty if you choose." The stranger persisted. And that's when Alice and Jonah stopped. Then Alice inhaled through her nose and exhaled through the mouth. "Not a bad deal huh?" The stranger asked smiling.

"Okay let's get this straight shit stain." Alice started by turning toward the man, one hand on her hip while the other pointing right at the strangers chest. Still with an irked expression. "One, you can't handle me even if I was playing nice. Second, you keep this up I will send you to pound town... and I don't mean the bed. And finally..." before she says anything else she knees the man in the crotch, and the stranger immediately fell to his knees holding his balls. As he starts to groan in pain, she gives him a swift kick in the face with her boot thus, causing him to fall to the ground. As he lays there in pain, she crouches to him and say "...Never whistle like that at me again." She finished.

"Holy crap mom! You kicked his ass!" Jonah said, while looking shocked.

"What did I tell you about swearing?"

" Never cuss during Christmas and Easter." He said looking annoyed.

"Good." As she got up walking toward her son, she puts an arm behind him as they start to walk away. "Now lets go home and roast the turkey." She said with a motherly smile. They begin to walk away, not knowing the stranger getting up with a second wind. Pissed at Alice he reaches into his coat pocket pulling out a switch blade.

"WHY YOU BITCH!" He starts running towards the both of them angry, not even caring he was going to kill a kid. "I'll hang your corpse like a Christmas ornament!"

With his own swift action Jonah turns around with a worried look, not wanting his mom hurt, especially during Christmas his eyes glowed red. And then the Shadow of the nearest lamppost stretched out, and grabbed the man by his throat and lifted him off the ground. While the stranger was struggling to get free, Jonah looks at him with pure anger for trying to hurt his mom. To Jonah, this man needed to be taught a true lesson in pain. "How dare you attack us! I'm going to rip you limb from limb, and organ by organ until you BEG FOR MERCY!" Jonah's voice started to sound disoriented and the wind started to pick up.

"Jonah no!" Alice exclaimed at the eleven-year old thus making him stop. She gets in front of the child and kneels down to his eye level, then gently puts both her hands on his shoulders. "Jonah it's alright, I can take care of myself easily. I know what he did is underhanded and low but please, this jackass isn't worth it. I'm asking as your mother to let me handle this. There will be a time for you to use this gift of yours but not now." After hearing all of that, the red in his eyes slowly disappeared showing sadness in his eyes. When his eyes went back to normal the shadow reverted back in place, like it never happened. Knowing the sadness Jonah's in right now she hugged him.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you." Jonah choked out with tears in his eyes, thinking she is angry with him.

"You didn't upset me. Besides, I already said I don't regrets with you. If anything, I'm upset about the shit stain that forced you to do that. " Speaking of shit stain, the man that Jonah released stared at those two with wide eyes while holding his neck. He started to crawl away still shaky from the experience, for it's not every day he sees a kid manipulate shadows. Holy shit! What kind of a brat is he!? No, that was no kid. That was a demon incarnate! As he was thinking this, he was pulled out of his thoughts when someone pulled on his coat collar, and started to drag him to a brick wall. Then he was turned around by none other than a pissed Alice, both her hands grasping the mans coat. "Alright you miserable fuck, here's how it's going down. You're not gonna say a word of what you saw tonight. Because if you do, I'll do exactly what my kid said he'll do but worse! Understand!?"

"I...I...I..." he stuttered. The man was unable to form words, still frightened from what the kid just did to him. So the only thing he could do was nod his head to show he understood. And as he nodded he whimpered a little. Right after he nodded his head she told him to 'beat it' and shoved him away. As he ran away in defeat, Alice and Jonah left for their temporary home.

'RANDOM TRUCK STOP'

At this truck stop, there were only a few trucks and RVs at this stop. One of these RVs is an old but still big, one that can hold a family of five. Inside this RV are two occupants, one a twelve year old boy and the other is a fifty-two year old man. The boy has short straight ginger hair combed back, currently wearing reading glasses, a long sleeved red shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the forearm, outdoor khaki pants and no shoes since he's inside. He's currently setting the table up for Christmas dinner, with plates, cups, silverware and many others. This is Luke, Jonah's brother.

Now the older man was built like a lumber jack. Despite his old age and graying head and facial hair this was a man you don't want to piss off in an ally. He's wearing a long sleeved unbuttoned flannel shirt with a black shirt underneath, green cargo pants and no shoes. This is Travis Monroe, the father of Alice Monroe and grandfather of Jonah and Luke. He opens up their special oven with his oven mitts on because he knows the turkey is ready. As they where working they were listening to 'Till the Season Comes Around Again' by Vince Gill.

"Frank Sinatra." Travis says with his gruffly manly voice.

"Stevie Wonder." Luke said. With his voice sounding different now that he's twelve.

"Willie Nelson."

" Ah! I can't name a singer that starts with an n!" Luke said in defeat while scratching his head. As Travis laughs he puts the turkey pot on the counter, and begins to cut it into pieces in order to place them on a plate. "What's taking them so long?" Luke said.

"Your mom and brother needed to do one last Christmas shopping before calling it." Travis said as he continues to cut the Turkey

"On Christmas Eve are they insane!"

"Hey, have a little faith in them. You know they can both kick ass any day of the week."

"I thought we were not suppose to cuss around this time?" Luke asked.

"You kids are not aloud. We adults have a special privilege to do that." Travis said after cutting the second piece.

"Come on pops, I'm almost thirteen. Can I cuss once for free?" Luke begged. Travis told both Luke and Jonah to call him pops because it as a cool sound to it. That and grandpa just sounds too old even for him.

"Yeah, and I'll let you smoke my cigars and drink hard liquor." Travis said sarcastically, while cutting the fourth piece.

"If you had done that, I'd kick both your assess." Alice said as she and Jonah entered the RV over hearing that sarcastic remark. But regardless, they all smiled and laughed when they saw each other.

"Welcome back you two." Her father said, walking over to give her and his other grandson a hug. As he broke the hug so he can cut two more pieces of turkey, Luke walked up to his mom and brother with a smile on his face. He asked why would they both of them go out shopping on Christmas Eve, and their mom said it was his brother's idea. When he asked his brother why, all Jonah did was take off his winter coat off and show the wrapped gift to his older brother.

"I got you a gift of course. I found something you would like." he said while waving the gift in his hand.

"Why did mom have to go with you?"

"Because he didn't have enough money." Alice said, while finishing the table. Luke looked back at his brother who could only smile and scratch the back of his head. Which caused both of them to laugh.

"Okay boys dinner is ready." Travis said getting their attention.

They ate the dinner and enjoyed every spec of the food they ate, leaving no trace of food that was left on the table. After they finished eating, all four of them got together to watch Home Alone together. In fact, the brothers were taking notes just in case they bump into someone or something that means to hurt them. And like any child who watches this movie the kids laughed out loud, which makes Alice and her father smile.

"Well, it's 10'o clock time to get some shut eye." Pops said with a yawn.

"Hey wait, we can't sleep yet!" said Jonah.

"Why not kid?" Alice asked.

"Don't you remember? You were going to sing a song to us, you promised." Jonah pleaded.

"Did I now? When did I make that promise?" Alice said trying to play dumb, to mess with her kid.

"Two years ago. Don't you remember!?" Jonah said while trying not to laugh. knowing his mom is messing with him.

"Of course I remember. But, this song is pretty soft, and it is night outside."

"OK, OK I'll get ready!" The boy said excitedly. It only took a few minutes to get both boys ready. Even Luke was excited, for both boys haven't heard their mother sing in a while.

"Okay you two are you ready?" She asked and both boys had big happy looks on their faces as they nodded. "Here we go then." She sits down on a chair near them both and starts to sing

The Christmas Song

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire

Jack Frost nipping at your nose

Yule-tide carols being sung by a choir

And folks dressed up like Eskimos

As she was singing, both boys started to fade fast from their mom's gentle song and voice to match the soothing feeling.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoes

Help to make the season bright

Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow

Will find it hard to sleep tonight

They know that Santa's on his way

He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh

And every mother's child is gonna spy

To see if reindeer really know how to fly

As Alice takes a pause to look at her sons, they were both asleep. But she knew that they had just fallen into their slumber. So she turns around to face her father, who was just leaning on a nearby wall also smiling while holding and taking small sips of beer. So she continued.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase

To kids from one to ninety-two

Although it's been said many times, many ways

Merry Christmas to you

Then she gets up from where she was sitting, and walked toward the unconscious brothers. To both her boys she gently and tenderly moved their hair.

And so I'm offering this simple phrase

To kids from one to ninety-two

Although it's been said many times, many ways

Merry Christmas to you.

Then she gave her sons a kiss on their heads.

'FOUR YEARS LATER'

Spring

A loud bump woke up Jonah from sleeping. As he woke up he sees the same ceiling in the back of the same and now old RV. His clothes are different to seeing he's fifteen and has grown to about 5'6 now. His blond hair is still messy but, it goes all the way to his shoulders so he sometimes ties it into a clean ponytail. He's currently wearing a short sleeved unbuttoned green shirt with vertical black stripes, while a plain white t-shirt is underneath, outdoor khaki pants but no shoes since he was sleeping on the bed of the RV. As he looked around he sees Pops in the front seat driving, and his brother sitting at the table with a small laptop.

Both looking tired.

"It was all a dream." Jonah said with a tired small on his face. "Wished it could've last."

To Be Continued
