All Kurosaki Ichigo ever wanted was a somewhat normal life. She made lengths to get to where she was now. A slightly higher than average student, a responsible teenager who's the caretaker of two 11 year olds, a hypothetical gang thug, and the best martial artist in all of Japan.

She did want a somewhat normal life. Ichigo already had everything loosely planned. She would graduate high school, either in the top ten–or top five if she got too bored–go to medical school, become a nurse practitioner, and make sure to be there and raise Kurosaki Yuzu and Kurosaki Karin to be successful young women.

It was a good plan. It had many holes and it was a bit vague, but Ichigo would make it happen. It was vague for a reason. Her life could change with the snap of her fingers. It was for the best that she kept her plan for the future vague, especially with her ability. And the fact that because of her appearance, people assume she's in a gang.

"What's this...? You kick Yama down and now you tell us to get out of your way?!" Some no name thug exclaims in a gruff voice. Ichigo just stares at him scratching the back of her head.

"Say something, damn bitch!" Ichigo holds up her leg and slams her foot into the approaching thug's face.

He falls to the ground with a gargled noise of surprise. Ichigo lifts her leg up and start kicking down the thug with a scowl on her face.

Ichigo clicks her tongue in annoyance at the thug's muffled threats and starts kicking his head into the concrete. "Shut up, will ya? Listen, all of you... what is that?"

She points towards the fallen glass vase a few feet away. She turns her head back around with a deeper scowl.

"First question: What can that be? You, in the middle!" Ichigo glares heavily at the other no name thug. The other two next to him lean back, hoping to avoid the glare.

"Huh? Uh, well–flowers for the kid who died here the other day?"

"Absolutely right!" Ichigo suddenly appears in front of the thugs, kicking the middle one in the face. "Then tell me... why is that vase on its side?"

"Well... we were skateboarding and knocked... it... over..."

The two thugs fly back when Ichigo punches them in the face. She sneers down at them, eyes practically glowing in anger and promised death.

"If you ever do it again, I'll make it so someone will have to offer flowers for your souls too, bitches!" Ichigo shouts loudly in her anger. The thugs scream before breaking into sprints, away from the terrifying female.

"S-s-sorry about that!"

Ichigo glares after them before clicking her tongue in annoyance again. "Assholes. They won't be back though. Better not be."

"I'll bring you some fresh flowers before I head home." Ichigo turns around, uncrossing her arms. A young girl appears floating above the ground. A metal chain was protruding from her chest and she hid behind the lamppost.

"Thank you for getting rid of them, nēsan. Now I should be able to rest in peace," The spirit speaks softly. Ichigo feels her mouth twitch as she walks over. She gently fixes the vase before standing back up.

"You're welcome." Ichigo starts walking away, giving the spirit a small wave. "It's about time you passed over."

Kurosaki Ichigo can see, touch, and sense the spirits of the departed. With an ability like that, Ichigo can't put too much hope into living a normal life. She tries her best though, at least to pretend she has a normal life.

Despite the incredulity of the belief, Ichigo takes a page out of her youngest sister's book when it comes to spirits. While Karin says she's in permanent denial about spirits, Ichigo just ignores them and denies them when she needs to.

Ichigo sighs quietly as she opens the glass door to a small flower shop. A bell chimes quietly in the empty flower shop.

"Hello?" Ichigo calls out, walking further into the flower shop. She jumps in surprise when a loud crash is heard from above before a boy crashes through the ceiling.

"Fuck!" The orange haired teenager blinks with wide eyes as the boy slowly stands up with dust falling on his shoulders.

He claps his hands and grins at Ichigo as if nothing happened. "Welcome to my flower shop! What can I get ya?"

"You fell from the ceiling," Ichigo states the obvious while pointing up. The boy rolls his eyes and gives the teenager an incredulous look.

"An' you gotta fuckin' nasty scar on ya face. We done statin' the obvious now? Whatcha need?" The boy retorts, making Ichigo instinctively touch the left side of her face with a small scowl.

Besides her unnatural orange hair color–the fact that someone from her mother's side of the family came from somewhere not in Asia seems to be an incomprehensible fact to accept–there was only one other thing that made people assume Ichigo was in a gang. The scar marring her face.

It started on the left side of her head, hidden by her hairline, and travelled across her left eyebrow and eye, causing a nick in her eyebrow and her eye to be covered by a grey film, across her lips, and ended on the right side of her lower jaw. She had long since accepted the fact that she had a scar for all to see, but it does get a bit... irritating when people keep pointing it out.

Fortunately, it brought her solitude and avoided social interactions for her loner heart. Apparently, no one wants to be seen talking with some "gangbanger".

"Got any white hyacinths?" Ichigo ignores the boy's comment and walks further into the store.

But being a rumored gangbanger is a better assumption than what Ichigo could really ask for. That's all she striving for right now. Normal assumptions.

Kurosaki Ichigo. Age: 15. Gender: Female. Hair color: Orange. Eye color: Brown. Occupation: High school student. Special skill: The ability to see, touch, and sense ghosts/master skills in martial arts.

The Devil's Spawns:

Yuzu: Ichi-nē, bring back some more bandages. We've run out.

Karin: And find a new job before we get evicted.

Yuzu: Karin!

Ichigo: Yeah. Got it. Anything else? More insults, any other things you're gonna force me to get?

Karin: Shut up.

~~~
Ichigo rolls her eyes with a small smile. She trudges through the empty, desolate streets of her neighborhood.
She stops at the corner of an intersection. The sky was already a deep blue and in a minute, it'll be black. Ichigo glances both ways before she starts walking across the street.
"Hey! Fuck–" Ichigo barely feels the presence behind her before she is knocked to the side. She quickly gains her balance and whirls around with a scowl and a withering glare.
It was just an average man that Ichigo knows she won't remember his face in the next minute.
"Watch it," The man sneers without even glancing at Ichigo.
"Watch it?! You're the one running into people, bastard!" Ichigo places a hand on her hip.
The man faces her with a scowl. "What did you just call me, woman? Learn to respect your elders."
"I called you a bastard! And it seems I'm right that you are one! I give respect when people earn it, and you haven't," Ichigo sneers back with a glare. The man takes a step forward as if to intimidate the teenager.
"You really think that's gonna make me scared? You're not even a fucking man," Ichigo taunts.
"Don't taunt me like that," The man growls with his fists clenched at his sides. Ichigo scoffs with an eye roll.
"Or what? You'll slap me 'cause I'm asking for it? You're a fucking asshole if ya think that works on women, bastard." Ichigo shoves past the man. "Now get outta my way. I need to go shopping."
"I didn't dismiss you, woman." The man reaches out and roughly grabs Ichigo's elbow. She stumbles back from the force of his pull before she quickly rips her arm out of his grip.
"I didn't give you permission to touch me, asshole! Touch me again and I'll break your tiny dick!" Ichigo gets into the man's face with a scowl. The man takes a step back with an even uglier sneer.
His eyes flicker darkly before he raises his hand. "Don't tell me what to do, woman!"
Ichigo tenses her shoulders and widens her stance. Right before the man's hand hits her face, something stops it from touching her.
"When I came out of my shop to see what all this commotion was about, I expected a drunkard fight and not someone claiming to be a man about to slap a woman." Ichigo blinks in surprise and glances to the right. She didn't even notice his presence. When did he get here? How did he get here so fast?
A tall, lean man stood next to them with a calm, dangerous smile on his face. He wore dark green and white striped bucket hat over light blonde hair, shadowing his stormy grey eyes. Ichigo raises an eyebrow at the weird historical outfit he wore.
"Excuse me? I was teaching this woman her manners," The average man states. He gasps in pain when Ichigo's apparent saviour tightens his grip on his wrist.
"I suggest you choose your next words very carefully and use those words to apologize to the lady, hm?" The stranger states, still tightening his grip.
SNAP!
The misogynist screams in pain when his wrist snaps in half. Ichigo watches in slight disinterest as the man collapses to the ground almost immediately after the stranger releases his wrist.
Ichigo narrows her eyes slightly when she finally senses the man's presence. A heavy feeling starts to appear on her temples at the slight pressure.
"I had the situation handled, but thanks I guess," Ichigo states as if nothing happened, looking up at the stranger. She focuses back on the whimpering misogynist and raises her foot. She shoves him to the ground with a sneer.
"I haven't heard a fucking apology yet, asshole. You being rude to men too?" Ichigo taunts as the misogynist looks up with a teary-eyed glare.
"Sorry," He grits out in pain and anger. Ichigo hums in thought before she lowers her foot.
"Not forgiven, now get the fuck away from me or I'll rip your dick off and force it down your throat," She threatens with a scowl. The man turns whiter than a sheet of paper before immediately bolting away.
"Pretty violent for a lady," The stranger comments, making the orange haired teenager scoff.
"Pretty perverted to hit on a teenager too," Ichigo retorts while giving the second man a disgusted glare. The man waves his hand in the air, a fan suddenly appearing over his mouth.
"I didn't mean it like that, miss!" The man quickly defends himself with a light tone. Ichigo gives him a look before rolling her eyes.
"Kurosaki Ichigo. You know where a convenience store is? I need to buy some bandages," Ichigo introduces herself with an indifferent expression. He seems familiar... has she met him before?
"Urahara Kisuke. I conveniently own one down the street." Ichigo rolls her eyes at the pun before glancing at the direction Kisuke points towards. Most of the buildings were clearly empty and dark. A small amount of light shone across the street from some building behind one of the empty ones that Ichigo couldn't see.
"Lead the way then, geta-bōshi. I need to finish my homework when I get home and I actually want get a decent amount of sleep tonight," Ichigo states while she waves a hand towards the street.
Kisuke raises an eyebrow at the lack of respect before humming. He starts walking down the street, walking diagonally to get out of the way of a car coming their way.
"Did a gang member get injured?" Kisuke asks casually. Ichigo blinks at the question before staring at the man with a confused expression.
"What?"
"You're buying some bandages and you don't exactly look passive," Kisuke points out with a small smile. Ichigo glares up at him before huffing with an eye roll.
"Not every scar's from a fight, asshole. I ain't a gangbanger," Ichigo sneers, glancing around the dark street. As they got closer to the light, a small traditional looking shop comes further into view.
"I wasn't talking about the scar, but it does make you less approachable," The blonde man corrects himself as he lightly fans himself.
"Good. Maybe you can realize it makes me less approachable and not talk to me more than necessary." The orange haired teenager scowls up at Kisuke, already getting irritated by the conversation between them.
Kisuke chuckles with obvious mirth in his expression. Ichigo huffs again and focuses back on the road ahead.
"Glad your done with your interrogation, geta-bōshi," Ichigo states when Kisuke doesn't ask anymore questions.
"I'm just curious, Kurosaki-chan! I've never seen you around here." Kisuke continues to fan himself, even once they reach the only lit building on the street. Ichigo gives the small shop a once-over, stopping in front of the open shōji doors.
It was incredibly small, but had a bit of a cozy presence to it. It had simple shelves of knick knacks and things a convenience store would have. Ichigo was a bit surprised at the lack of any type of security system in sight.
"I don't have much over-the-counter medicinal supplies, but I should still have some bandages." Ichigo stares at Kisuke's back with a narrowed gaze before she slowly walks into the shop. "Feel free to look around for other things as well."
Ichigo rolls her eyes and silently walks over to where she sees a section of medicinal supplies. Over-the-counter pain medicine, bandages, surgical masks, first-aid kits. A disappointing amount of items.
"And you say this is your convenience store..." Ichigo mutters under her breath. She grabs two boxes of bandages before turning around. She blinks in surprise when she sees a black cat slink into her view.
The orange haired teenager turns to face the cat. She smiles softly and crouches down.
"Hello, what're you doing here?" Ichigo asks curiously, holding out her hand. The cat stares up at her with unnerving gold eyes, its tail flicking back and forth.
It tilts its head, Ichigo tilting her head the same way. She smiles brightly when the cat slowly walks towards her outstretched hand.
"Cute..." Ichigo sighs softly as the cat rubs its head against her knuckles.
"I feel like I've met you before. What's your name?" Ichigo asks quietly, mostly to herself.
"Her name's Yoruichi." Ichigo glances back, just noticing Kisuke standing behind her. "Did you get what you needed?"
Ichigo pets the cat's head before standing up and turning to face the blonde. "Mmhmm. How much?"
"¥600 for the lady," Kisuke states, holding out his hand while he hides his smile with his fan. Ichigo narrows her eyes at him, staring straight into his eyes.
Now that she was paying attention to him, his presence really was familiar.
"...have we met before?" She asks eventually, breaking off her stare to dig for her wallet.
"Why do you say that?" The blonde asks in a cheerful tone. Ichigo frowns in thought, taking out ¥600.
"Your presence is... you don't feel, alive..." Ichigo trails off as she stares down at the money in her hand, lost in thought. She takes a deep breath and gently shakes her head to try and dispell a coming headache.
"Nevermind. Here you go," Ichigo says distractedly and hands over the money. She presses two fingers to her left temple with a scowl when it starts the throb under the pressure. Another migraine, great.
"Are you alright, Kurosaki-chan?" Kisuke asks in slight worry. Ichigo waves a hand in dismissal as she turns away.
"Just a headache... your cat friend is cute by the way," She mentions as she starts to walk out of the shop. "You've grown up together, yeah?"
"Yes... I'm surprised you can tell," Kisuke states, lightly fanning himself.
Ichigo doesn't hear his answer. "Have a nice night, geta-bōshi."
"...you too, Kurosaki-chan."
Ichigo stares off into nothing as her headache gets worse. Her feet automatically head towards the direction she senses her sisters to be.
"Familiar... he's so familiar... it's probably nothing," Ichigo thinks with a small scowl. "But... he recognized my name..."
Ichigo sighs heavily and rubs her eyes as the streetlights start to make streaks of blinding lights in her eyes. She's too tired to deal with this. It's probably nothing.
Ichigo's wandered around Karakura Town for her entire life. She's probably walked passed his store during a walk or brushed past him. Yeah... that's all that is.
If given the choice between normal and entertaining, Kurosaki Karin would choose entertaining almost every single day of the year. But, if entertaining meant annoying would follow, Karin would go back to choose normal. She's dealt with annoying all her life, thank you very much! She's had her fair share of it.
That doesn't mean she's unwilling to use annoying to her advantage. Running a... hypothetically illegal medical clinic is more of a money pit than a source of income at the moment, and unlike Ichigo and her twin sister, Karin is more than willing to use her ability to get some bills paid off.
She'll forever be in permanent denial about her ability, no matter what she does with it or not.
Karin bites back another loud curse when her kick misses the goal once more. She growls under her breath before kicking another soccer ball with all of her might. It flights through the air and gets impaled on a broken part of the fence surrounding the school campus.
"Shit!" Karin curses loudly before turning away from the deflated soccer ball. That was her fourth soccer ball this month.
Kurosaki Karin. Age: 11. Gender: Female. Hair color: Black. Eye color: Stormy grey. Occupation: Middle school student/Amateur nurse. Special skill: T̶h̶e̶ a̶b̶i̶l̶i̶t̶y̶ t̶o̶ s̶e̶e̶ g̶h̶o̶s̶t̶s̶/soccer.
"Karin! We need to go home soon! Soccer will still be here tomorrow!" Kurosaki Yuzu, an 11 year old girl with a soft demeanor, speaks loudly from the stadium risers. Karin looks up from where she was standing and gives her twin sister a glare.
Kurosaki Yuzu was almost the exact opposite of Karin. Despite be the most normal out of the family of three, Yuzu would only choose normal if both Ichigo and Karin chose it. Yuzu had more patience when it came to annoying. Karin is a hundred percent sure that Yuzu could live with annoying for eternity and think of it as something in her imagination.
Of course, Yuzu has a breaking point, like they all do when it came to the strange abilities of the Kurosaki Family. But, Karin would much rather not see that side of her older twin again. Even then, Yuzu was too soft-hearted for the world. Both the living world and the spirit world.
Karin was glad her twin didn't have as much spiritual awareness as she and Ichigo did. She'd break herself just trying to help every spirit she saw.
Kurosaki Yuzu. Age: 11. Gender: Female. Hair color: Light blonde. Eye color: Brown. Occupation: Middle school student/Amateur nurse. Special skill: The ability to sense and touch ghosts/cooking.
"I know that, Yuzu!" Karin shouts back before she turns to face the soccer goal. She sneers at it before bending down to pick up her soccer ball.
"What's for dinner? Is Ichi-nē cooking tonight?" Karin asks as she starts to trudge off the field.
Yuzu shakes her head. "Ichi-nē will be too focused on her studying tonight, so I need to stop by the store on our way home."
Karin huffs in annoyance and grabs her bag from her twin. She glances up at the dark sky and frowns.
"Ichi-nē needs to take a break. Stupid big sister," Karin mutters under her breath. Yuzu smiles softly as they start to walk away.
"Your game's coming up, right? Is that why you're practicing so much?" Yuzu asks, eyebrows furrowed in worry. Karin rolls her eyes and nudges her twin's shoulder with her own.
"Don't worry too much. I'll take a break after the game. I have to win this one. The high school recruiters will be there." Karin pulls her bag over her shoulder. Yuzu sighs softly, giving her younger twin a small look
"You take after Ichi-nē too much," Yuzu thinks. Karin immediately glares at the blonde before clicking her tongue.
"You're too much like Ichi-nē." The twin sisters glare at each other. Yuzu sighs with a small eye roll and a pout.
"You need to take a break before the game. You won't do good if you burn yourself out." Yuzu brushes some of her long hair out of her face when the wind breezes past. "Ichi-nē's gonna tell you the same thing when we get home."
Yuzu blinks when she suddenly trips over air. Karin quickly grabs her before she could fall.
"Hey, watch where you're going!" Karin exclaims loudly, glaring at a young girl only a few inches taller than her and Yuzu.
She wore an ancient black outfit of some sort with a sword strapped to her left hip. Her black hair reached her shoulders and her dark purple eyes shine with a icy gleam. The girl wasn't even looking at Karin and Yuzu, despite being the one to trip Yuzu.
𝑪𝑳𝑶𝑺𝑬
Yuzu tilts her head in confusion a she stares at the white outline at whoever Karin could see. "What's close?"
Karin scowls when the girl continues to ignore her and Yuzu. She brings back her foot and slams it against the girl's backside, making her yelp in surprise.
"My sister asked you a question, idiot!" The black haired twin exclaims as the girl snaps her head towards her.
"You can see me." Karin raises an eyebrow at the question before turning her head towards Yuzu.
The blonde shakes her head with a so-so hand sign. "I can only see a white outline."
"I'm able to see spirits. Yuzu can see a faint outline and sense what they feel." Karin rolls her eyes and waves a hand towards her twin. "Aren't you going to apologize? You almost made her fall. There's also the fact that you kept ignoring us..."
"...apologies," The girl speaks in a cold tone. Karin scowls and places her hands on her hips.
"What kind of apology is that, ghost girl?" Yuzu quickly hugs Karin from behind before she could go and give the ghost a piece of her mind.
"Karin, stop it! You know how ghosts can be. It's best to ignore her, remember?" Yuzu states with a pleading tone in her voice. Karin rolls her eyes with a huff and pushes out of her twin's hold.
Yuzu stares at the white outline with a dazed expression. Her eyes narrow before she takes a step forward.
"You're different... I can't sense it from you. Are you really a ghost?" Yuzu asks curiously.
𝑺𝑯𝑶𝑪𝑲
"You're right, Yuzu. Hey ghost girl, why don't you have a chain coming out of your chest?" Karin asks as she tosses her soccer ball up in the air.
"It is because I am..." Karin raises an eyebrow at the sudden burst of wind that comes through. "A Shinigami."
𝑫𝑬𝑨𝑻𝑯 𝑮𝑶𝑫
"An incredibly dramatic flair..." Yuzu sweatdrops slightly at the answer she senses. The ghost–the Shinigami would probably get along great with Ichigo... if she can handle Ichigo's unpredictability.
"What's a Shinigami?" The twins ask at the same time, both curious and Karin irritated.
Karin huffs slightly and twirls her soccer ball on her palm. At least the day was getting less annoying and more interesting. It isn't as good as entertaining, unfortunately.
The sky darkens to deep oranges and reds as the twins listens and senses the confusing explanation they are given.
"So, a Shinigami is a spirit that comes from a place called Soul Society. You're here to kill an evil spirit," Yuzu eventually speaks with clear confusion in her voice.
The Shinigami girl nods with a proud smile on her face. Karin scowls before glancing at her twin the same time she glances at her. They both nod their heads and walk past the girl.
The girl blinks before rushing to get in front of them. "You're not surprised by what I am. Do you not have questions?"
"We've never heard of something called a Shinigami. Ichi-nē never mentioned a spirit like that either," Yuzu speaks softly as Karin glances up at the dark sky.
"Shinigami? What a joke! It's not our business. And even if it was, we're too busy to deal with anymore annoying spirit crap right now."
"Karin..." Yuzu sighs with a small look towards her younger twin. She doesn't say anything else and starts to walk away with Karin.
"Bakudō 1: Sai!"
Yuzu squeals in surprise as she falls to the ground, her arms suddenly pulled behind her.
"Motherfu–" Karin faceplants into the ground when her hands twist behind her back.
"What–what–Karin?" Yuzu turns her head and looks at her twin sister in worry and slight fear.
"I can't move my fucking hands. Can you?" Karin turns her head as she tries to move her hands. Yuzu shakes her head with a small sigh.
"You have to stop cursing." Yuzu turns onto her side before she slowly sits up. "No, I can't move my arms."
"You cannot move, can you? It's called Demon Form. It's an advanced incantation only Shinigami can use. Do you believe I am joking now?" The Shinigami explains with a smug smirk.
Karin and Yuzu glance at each other again before Karin groans. She rolls onto her back and sits up with a small amount of struggle.
"This day can't get anymore annoying." Yuzu nudges her twin's leg, giving her a small glare.
"I will now kindly explain the two types of spirits within this world. It may not be your business, as you say, but it's better to prevent an unnecessary death," The Shinigami speaks, crouching in front of the twins.
Karin groans again, looking up at the sky. "I was wrong. This day just got more annoying."
𝑸𝑼𝑬𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵𝑺
"Your drawing sucks," Karin states as she stares at the confusing and completely horrid drawings of bunnies as examples of spirits. Yuzu nudges her leg with a small look before smiling brightly when a couple walks past them.
The couple glances at them, but doesn't pay them any mind. They were long since used to kids doing weird things.
"So, your mission. Does that mean a Hollow is near?" Yuzu asks quietly, eyebrows furrowed. She hopes not... her first-aid kit is almost empty.
"That would be the case," The Shinigami speaks with a nod. Karin scowls and leans forward, ignoring how her arms ache at the slight stretch.
"Then why are you sitting there, talking with us?! Go and kill it!" Karin exclaims loudly. Yuzu nudges her again, but doesn't scold her for the shout. She's right, why is this Shinigami wasting time talking with them?
"There is a presence in this town... It was extremely hard to even feel the Hollow's general location. I can't pinpoint its exact location." The Shinigami looks off to the side with a hard expression.
"What do you mean? There's something in Karakura that's–"
𝑫𝑨𝑵𝑮𝑬𝑹
The twins whip their heads up. Yuzu shivers at the suffocating presence of death that surrounds her. Karin frantically looks around, trying to pinpoint where the bloodcurdling howl she heard came from.
"Karin..." Yuzu instinctively leans towards her younger twin, carefully placing herself in front.
Karin's breath stutters out of her mouth. "What–what the fuck was that?"
"There's something here hindering my senses..."
"Hey! Shinigami!" Karin shouts, grabbing the spirit's attention.
𝑾𝑯𝑨𝑻
"What do you mean what? Did–did you not feel it? Shinigami-san, there was this presence–"
"Don't tell me you didn't hear that howl!" Karin adds with a wide-eyed expression.
"What do you mea–"
𝑫𝑨𝑵𝑮𝑬𝑹
Yuzu and Karin snap their heads towards the left. Yuzu clenches her eyes shut and curls into a ball while Karin quickly hooks one of her legs over Yuzu's lap to keep them both grounded. A giant shockwave makes the ground shake underneath them as a sudden explosion appears a few blocks away.
The Shinigami whips her head towards the explosion with wide eyes. She grips the hilt of her sword as she stares up at the billowing black smoke.
"Hey! Where are you going? Was that voice the Hollow?!" Karin attempts to stand up despite her restraints. "Fucking–Shinigami!"
"Yes! I will go and get rid of it, you both stay here!" The Shinigami shouts over her shoulder.
"There may be people hurt! Karin and I can help! Get us out of this spell!" Yuzu starts to try and move her arms in an attempt to get out of the restraints.
"What are you two saying?! With how spiritually aware you two are, the Hollow will just hunt you instead." The Shinigami starts running again. "The number of victims will rise by two if you come!"
𝑫𝑨𝑵𝑮𝑬𝑹
"GET DOWN!" Karin doesn't think of the outcome and leaps on top of her older twin.
BOOM!
Karin feels herself get flown back into the air by the explosion. She lets herself skid to a halt on her arms and back. Her ears ring loudly as red and orange bleed into her vision.
"-rin. Karin! Karin!" The black haired girl slowly sits up, shaking her head to get rid of the deafening ring.
"Yuzu..." Karin start to move her arms, struggling to get out of the restraints. "Yuzu!"
"Get it off! Your sister needs you. Yuzu!" Karin kneels forward as she grinds her teeth. She feels something harshly tug inside of her as she continues to struggle.
Yuzu was a few feet away, pulling her arms with all her might. "Release the spell!"
"Fools, what are you doing?! Stop it! You cannot release that incantation with a human's power!" The Shinigami shouts loudly as she takes out her sword from its sheath. She was facing the burning building, glancing over her shoulder at the twins.
𝒀𝑶𝑼 𝑾𝑰𝑳𝑳 𝑫𝑰𝑬
Yuzu feels something tug in her heart before she pulls her arms one last time. The restraints easily disappear and her hand slams into the cement from the force of her pull.
"Karin!" Yuzu shouts desperately, stumbling towards her twin sister. Karin hisses at the pain of pulling her injured arms so much. She growls out loud and release a loud cry.
"Get off! Just go away!" Karin rips her arms out of the restraints. She ignores the dizziness swimming in her head as she rushes to meet her twin sister.
"Yuzu! Yuzu, are you alright?" She asks frantically, her voice cracking under the overload of panic.
𝑫𝑨𝑵𝑮𝑬𝑹
Yuzu whips around, protectively standing in front of Karin. Karin reaches out and grabs her hand as she starts to run.
"This way!" Yuzu quickly follows after Karin before she gets dragged, blocking her face from a sudden wave of heat and dust.
𝑯𝑼𝑵𝑮𝑬𝑹
"Get away! It's after you!" The Shinigami shouts, rushing to catch up. Yuzu glances back with wide eyes when she feels the ground shake.
"Crap!" The light blonde trips over fallen debris and lands with a huff. Karin whips around, sliding to a stop.
She watches as a large clawed hand raises into the air. Everything slows down when the clawed hand swipes towards Yuzu.
"YUZU!"
𝑫𝑨𝑵𝑮𝑬𝑹
"Wait, KARIN!" Yuzu reaches a hand out when Karin leaps over her. She clenches her eyes shut as a sudden burst of wind blows dust into her face.
She quickly wipes away the dust from her face and coughs away the particles that get in her lungs. Yuzu squints through the dust still in her eyes, frantically looking around for her twin.
The 11 year old girl spots her twin held against the wall of the burning building by an invisible force. "Karin!"
The Shinigami races forward and raises her sword. Karin suddenly drops to the ground as the white outline of the Shinigami seems to have cut something. Yuzu quickly gets up, only to fall to the ground in pain from her leg buckling.
"Karin..." Yuzu bites her lip and forces herself to stand up. She sprints as fast as she can, stumbling to the ground when she reaches her twin.
"Imōto! Imōto, wake up. Wake up!" Yuzu shakes her sister's shoulders.
𝑪𝑨𝑳𝑴 𝑫𝑶𝑾𝑵
The Shinigami stands in front of Yuzu and Karin with her sword raised in front of her. Yuzu whips her head and glares heavily at the white outline.
"She's my little sister! Don't tell me to calm down!" Yuzu shouts before she notices the Shinigami moving to block something.
"Your sister protected you. You were the one to fall," The Shinigami speaks through clenched teeth.
"It's my fault..." Yuzu sniffs loudly and wipes away some blood trailing down Karin's face. "It's my fault, I shouldn't have looked back..."
The Shinigami turns her head with a hard expression. "Wait, I did not mean–"
𝑫𝑨𝑵𝑮𝑬𝑹
"Shinigami-san!" Yuzu screeches in worry when the spirit girl is suddenly punched through the wall behind them. Yuzu clenches her fists to the side and stands up.
Yuzu glares up at the faint outline of whatever stood in front of her. She bares her teeth and lifts up her foot to take off her shoe.
"Go pick on someone your own size, asshole!" The light blonde throws her shoe with all her might. "Sisterly Slap!"
Yuzu watches in satisfaction and slight glee as the faint outline is thrown back by the force of the shoe. She takes the opportunity to race towards the hole in the burning building.
"Shinigami-san? Shinigami-san!" Yuzu coughs loudly at the amount of smoke pouring out of the building. "Shinigami-san, are you alright?"
She helps the Shinigami girl sit up from a pile of rubble. The spirit coughs wetly, instinctively grabbing onto Yuzu's wrist as the 11 year old drags her towards the hole.
"R-run... you'll... you need to run," The Shinigami manages to speak through her coughing fit. Yuzu yelps when her knee buckles and falls over the hole, landing roughly on a few shards of glass.
Yuzu quickly gets back up, slicing her hands and knees as she crawls over to the Shinigami. She helps the spirit sit up, looking down at the white outline.
Yuzu glances back at where she feels a rage slowly get deadlier. "Of course! I want to save my family, I will always want to sav–"
"Y-Yuzu..." Karin slowly comes to, her eyes in a heavy daze. She leans her head back and sees the Shinigami lifting her sword towards Yuzu's chest.
"-only one way... you... must become a Shinigami!" Karin groans lightly as she tries to move her body. Her ribs seem to creak and pop from the movement.
RAAHWR!
The sun had finally gone past the horizon as the howl rattles through Karin's brain. "Yuzu... wait, don't..."
"How can I–how will this work?" Yuzu asks frantically, facing the Shinigami again. The spirit inches her sword closer to the living girl's chest.
"You must... must take my zanpakutō and pierce the middle of your chest. I-I will insert half of my Shinigami into... into you and you..." The Shinigami coughs again, her eyes fluttering "...you will become a Shinigami, temporarily... It is not–not..."
The black haired girl falls to the side and turns her body. She lands on her hand, breathing deeply.
"You said it was the only way, right?" Yuzu asks, voice shaking in terror. Her fists were clenched to her sides, determination shining through the fear.
"...Yuzu..." Karin starts to crawl forward, the world spinning around her like a merry-go-round. Yuzu needs her. She can't do this.
If she dies... "Ichi-nē won't be able to take it..."
Karin forces herself to stand up, leaning against the wall. She stumbles forward as Yuzu nods her head.
"I'll do it, Shinigami-san." Yuzu sits up on her knees, getting closer.
"It is not Shinigami." Karin almost collapses back to the ground when the Hollow howls again. "It is Kuchiki Rukia."
"Nice to meet you, Kuchiki-san... I'm Kurosaki Yuzu," Yuzu introduces herself with a kind smile. She gently grabs the blade, aiming it towards her chest.
Karin pushes off the wall with wide eyes. She rushes forward as adrenaline rushes through her veins.
"Let's go."
"Yes." The Shinigami thrusts her sword forward.
"YUZU!" Karin hugs Yuzu from behind. Rukia's eyes widen as both twins get stabbed through the chest.
A bright light completely covers the entire street.
Hey! Hope you all like the new story!
Holy fucking shit. I have spent about two weeks writing this SINGLE chapter and Jesus Christ–if this isn't a good chapter, I'ma crawl in a closet and cry.
Note for future me: if you come back and edit this chapter, FUCK YOU AND LEAVE THE CHAPTER THE WAY IT IS.
So, update in the two weeks since first writing that story description, I have read the beginning volumes of Bleach. Life has been busy for me, but I've gotten to chapter 34.
I am a little bit more knowledgeable to what is goes on in canon, lmao. Not like it'll help.
ALSO: The bold slanted letters is what Yuzu senses the spirits are feeling/speaking about. The italicized and underlined dialogue is when a spirit talks.
Be warned, this story MAY get confusing, but I'll try my absolute best to be cohesive and as clear as I can. I still hope you all enjoy it, nonetheless!
Hope you all like the first chapter! Bye.
