Okay, so I'll admit it. I had no clue what I was going to do with Selene. I just knew I wanted her involved. But as I wrote the last chapter the idea just hit me. Personally, I thought it was pretty clever, but I know others might not be fans of the idea. I mean give Natsu a super powerful mentor that can help him until he's ready to free Igneel and face Acnologia? Um, yes please! Now to preempt the questions (since no one has reviewed on the last chapter yet), NO. Natsu will not learn Moon Dragon Slaying magic from Selene. I already have a plan for his elements and Selene's is not one of them. Side note in case you couldn't tell: I don't follow the 100 year quest arc (as far as I'm concerned Fairy Tail ended with the defeat of Zeref and Acnologia). I only used Elefseria and Selene because I thought it might be a nice way to bring some stronger characters into the story for Natsu to train with, or at the very least learn from as is the case with Elefseria.
DISCLAIMER:I do not own Fairy Tail. I do not own these characters. I do not own the story idea, at least not entirely. Then again, someone else may have had the same ideas I did. Eh, how about I don't own anything in this story. Is that a good enough disclaimer?
Chapter 8.
Wyverns…Again.
After letting out a relieved sigh that the female dragon would help him train and prepare to attempt the trial to become Dragon King, Natsu hugged her. It was a brief one, but Selene could feel the gratitude in his magic.
"What kind of grandmother would I be if I wasn't supportive of your goals? Besides, I think you'd rather take the trials and fail, than to not take them and succumb to dragonification with Igneel still inside you."
She told him before their ears started to perk up. The city that surrounded Era was pretty busy, but they could still hear things going on at the Magic Council's headquarters for the continent of Ishgar.
"I suppose we should go find out what's got them worked up now."
the silver haired woman said as she and Natsu ran towards the magic council's rather grand building. They arrived to a rather comical sight. Members of the magic council and their subordinates were running around like headless chickens. A few of the guild masters were pale faced, but most of them stood strong, as if whatever it was that was going on wasn't that big of a deal.
"How many did you say?!"
On of the council members was yelling at a messenger in fear.
"T-the scouts report nineteen sir!"
Despite hearing the commotion, they had still been far enough away, and had background noise from the city making it hard to fully comprehend what they had heard, so the two were confused even as they joined the mass of people.
"Nineteen?! By the Gods we'd have to mobilize the Rune Knights and all of the Guild Masters in Bosco just to stall them long enough for one of the Four Gods to handle the situation!"
Another council member muttered to himself, though the dragons and slayers still heard. Knowing it wasn't going to be much help just standing around, Natsu walked over towards Makarov.
"Hey gramps, what are they shouting about?"
He voiced lowly so as not to draw attention to himself. The short man had seen Natsu arrive with Selene, and though he didn't know much about her, he figured Natsu would tell him about it later so he didn't question it. Instead answering Natsu's question.
"Apparently Tartaros was active over by the border to Bosco recently and they stirred up a colony of wyverns."
"Huh. Why aren't they asking to send us dragon slayers then?"
"Because they're idiots and most of them can't think in emergency situations like this."
The pink haired man couldn't help but snort at that. Selene had followed behind him, but stood back a bit to be polite, so she heard the exchange as well.
"I can take you slayers and have this situation sorted within a day or two depending on how spread out they wyverns are. It would be a good start to your training Natsu."
She said, having known from how they interacted that the three of them were a den. Makarov turned towards her with a raised eyebrow. He was confused by her. The woman had rather abruptly handed over control of her guild and walked out of a meeting with the Magic Council saying it was a hassle, yet she was offering to handle the situation? Of course he wanted to know what she meant with her comment about training as well.
Knowing it was rather rude, but not really caring Selene didn't answer his look. Instead she huffed.
"Look, I don't really care, but don't you think it would be better if this was handled quickly? All the lives saved and whatnot?"
Gritting his teeth in frustration at her answer, but trusting Natsu, Makarov just nodded. He took a deep breath before biting out "Fine. Go quickly now."
Natsu shared a look with his guild master for a brief moment, conveying that he'd explain everything when they got back. When the older man nodded, Natsu turned away.
"We'll met you back at the guild then gramps."
He spoke over his shoulder before moving to grab Wendy and Gajeel. Gildarts and Erza both noticed the interaction, but given the look on the slayer's faces they stayed back, instinctively understanding that this wasn't something they really wanted to be a part of. They did move closer to Makarov though.
The groups departure didn't go unnoticed though. Of course the council member that saw knew that the three dragon slayers were part of Fairy Tail.
"Makarov, where are your wizards going?!"
He yelled out drawing everyone's attention to the short man.
"Despite the fact Selene seemed to not give a damn about anything, she offered to take those three and handle the wyvern situation. Since time is of the essence I told them to go with her. I've no idea why she offered though..."
Makarov responded candidly. But before anyone one else could say anything Elefseria spoke up.
"Selene may not look it, but she's older than I am. She's also a dragon slayer, similar to those three. I'd wager she wants to see how strong they are. There's also the fact that apparently she's Natsu Dragneel's grandmother."
He assuaged them, though he lied about her being a dragon slayer since he knew they'd accept it quicker than they would that she was as dragon in human form.
"And the four of them think they can handle nineteen wyverns?!"
Another person argued.
Elefseria and Makarov both chuckled at that.
"Selene could do that by herself. She's one of the few people in this world that suppresses the vast majority of their magic. After all she's not suicidal enough to let her power draw Acnologia's attention for a fight."
The law dragon told the gathered group. Most of them were stunned by his revelation, though they didn't really have time to dwell on it.
"Natsu on his own could handle a fair few of them himself. After all the last mission he was on required him to slay two of them and it didn't take much effort apparently. Add in Gajeel and Wendy? So long as they watch each others backs they could probably take all nineteen of the wyverns down without issues."
Makarov chimed in. He didn't mention it, but he suspected that the four of them would come back to Fiore even stronger. After all he'd sensed the sizable increase in Natsu's magic after the mission he'd taken with Cana. But Elefseria couldn't just leave it at that.
"Of your three dragon slayers, Wendy is the only one that couldn't handle all nineteen on her own, and that's only because she's still young, inexperienced, and trained more for supportive magic than she is for fighting. As a fellow dragon slayer I know far more about what they're capable of than you do Makarov. They'll be done and on their way back to Magnolia before sunset."
The room went silent at that. It made sense that he would know their capabilities better than they would, but to hear him being confident that they'll be done before the day is up? That was rather hard to believe, but given the complete lack of concern he had over the matter they instinctively felt it best to trust his judgment.
"Very well then… But we won't leave all to them just in case even a single wyvern escapes them. We won't mobilize the guild masters, but the Rune Knights stationed in Bosco should be able to handle a wyvern or two. We'll inform the scouts to keep an eye on those four so they can be compensated for each wyvern they take down."
The council chairman responded after a moment. Makarov nodded, smiling happily as he thought about how it would help the guild in paying off all the different fees they had for damages caused. After all as members of the guild they gave 5% of their mission funds to the guild as a membership fee.
While he didn't know how Selene planned to handle the situation, as long as all three of the Dragon Slayers got one wyvern each they'd have earned 2,100,000 jewels, or 700,000 jewels each. Which would mean the guild could claim about 105,000 jewels. While it wouldn't pay off any of the fees for things done by Natsu or Gajeel, it would for some of the lest powerful and rowdy members like Max or Warren. And that was if they only handled one wyvern each.
"As the emergency situation has been handled, for now at least, you all are free to return to your guilds now."
The council chairman declared after a moment, causing the room to slowly empty as people began to leave.
"As the dragon slayers were previously your escort master Elefseria, I'd like to task one of my S-class wizards here to take their place to escort you back to the harbor for your return trip if that's alright."
Makarov said as he turned to face the Magia Dragon guild master.
"No need. I don't really need an escort. I had just heard rumors and stories about your dragon slayers and wanted to meet them. It's rare to meet another dragon slayer after all."
"I see. I'd still like to make the offer at least."
But Elefseria shook his head even as he held out his hand.
"It's alright. Though I'd appreciate it if you gave them this communication lacrima. It's paired with my own so that we can chat whenever. After all I've got a lot of wisdom and advice to share with them as their senior in magic."
The Fairy Tail guild master accepted the lacrima with a smile.
"Of course. Now I've still got a lot of paperwork to handle so since our meeting is over I'll be returning to Magnolia now. It was a pleasure to met you."
He replied switching the lacrima to his off hand so he could shake Elefseria's.

Selene led the dragon slayers far enough away that they wouldn't be noticed and she took her dragon form. It took them a moment to fully take in her appearance… In fact all three of them would say she looked like a combination of a lizard and a furry mammal. The underside of her body was scaled and reptilian like with a shimmering silver, except for her head and neck. Her face reminded them of a fox with the shape and the way it was more mammalian and furry than they would have expected for a dragon. Though they thought it was pretty cool that her horns were curved in such a way that if you were to trace them you would see the shape of a crescent moon. Her neck was covered in the same white shaggy coat of fur as her head was, and from the base of her neck all the way down her spine to the tip of her tail was also fuzzy with hair. The strange part was that she had no wings. However she had an extra eight tails, all of which were bushy and white until the tips where the color faded to black.
"I don't think we want to take too long with this so I'll let you three ride my back for now."
She said bowing down low for them to climb on. Once they were seated she rose from the ground with a powerful thrust of her legs. As they became airborne Natsu looked towards her head.
"What's the plan exactly. I mean wyverns aren't a big threat, but if they're all together it'll be tough."
As he spoke Natsu felt the dragoness using her magic to soar through the sky, which was pretty cool since she didn't have wings like Igneel did.
"Simple. I'll set up a barrier over a large portion of land and then force them to scatter. Based on your confidence I would say you and the iron dragon's child can handle yourselves and know your limits, so you two get free reign. I'll stay with the little sky dragonling since she's still young and probably doesn't have the same level of training as the two of you. I trust that is acceptable?"
"Gehehehe, that sounds good to me. It's been a while since I could properly cut loose."
Gajeel responded with his signature cackle. Natsu pounded his fists together.
"Oh yeah. I'm all fired up!"
"Right well I'm moving rather quickly since I don't want to risk alerting Acnologia so we'll be there in about five minutes. Make sure you're ready."
Selene told them as she started to ascend just a bit. She intended to set her barrier from on high before dropping down on the wyverns so the slayers could safely get off her back.
"Celestial Reflection: Eight-fold Moonlight Barrier."
The female dragon spoke lowly as her magic caused a flash in the surrounding air as the dragon slayers felt her barrier expand outwards. For a solid minute they sat there with Selene just hovering in the air.
"There we go. The barrier has expanded out in ten miles in each direction. That should let them spread them out enough to prevent being overwhelmed by numbers. Now let's get down there."
She spoke in a rather cheery tone before they plummeted as she stopped using her magic to keep them in the air. Wendy shrieked and grabbed on to the mane of hair that was closest to her with a death grip. Gajeel grinned eagerly, though he did make sure he had a decent hold on the dragon to avoid falling off prematurely.
Natsu however just raised his hands into the air. With a smile stretching from ear to ear he cheered "WHOOOOOOOOO!"
Having sensed their actions with her magic Selene rolled her eyes. She barely knew them but she had read their personalities pretty well.
"Moon Dragon's Roar!"
Just before the wyverns below her would have noticed them coming she unleashed a breath attack to scatter them, as she said she would. It didn't hit any of them but they were startled enough that she managed to crush one under her left leg as she landed. Of course it wasn't completely trampled, but it was definitely hurting and pinned under her for a quick and easy kill.
Jumping from her back with glee, Natsu chased down one of the closer wyverns with a blazing fist.
"Fire Dragon's Volcanic Impact!"
Thanks to the fact he was still in the air slightly above the reptilian creature he brought his fist down on the back of its head, forcing it's body to collapse into the ground. The power in his attack caused a small crater. But he wasn't finished. Since there were so many of the wyverns, he intended to kill them as quick as he could. Once he felt his arm starting to bend rather than just push the wyvern down, he pushed with enough force to spring backwards. Flipping through the air as he did Natsu adjusted his position as he brought his heel down.
"Fire Dragon's Demolishing Talon!"
This time his attack caught the wyvern on the neck. The sheer power of his axel kick was rather impressive to Selene who was watching him intently so as to find out where to start his training. After all she heard as he broke the wyvern's neck before his foot even connected. In fact she flinched a bit when she saw the poor beasts neck being crushed. She knew from experience that wounds to the neck were extremely painful and agonizing, so to die that way... She pitied the wyvern.
"Iron Dragon's Spiral Razor!"
She heard the dark haired slayer shout as he finally reached a wyvern of his own. She wasn't as impressed with him as she was Natsu, though part of her wondered if she was just being biased since Natsu was her grandson. But it was still a rather powerful attack as his arm became a pillar of metal with a jagged yet sharp edge that made it seem more like a drill.
His attack punched through the wing of the wyvern he was attacking before meeting the scales of the creatures back. For a brief moment it was halted, before braking through and biting into the wyvern's flesh causing it to let out a pain filled screech.
It was at that point she noticed that Wendy hadn't yet gotten off of her back. The bluette wasn't going to let her friends down and prepared to joint he fight, but she knew her experience and fighting ability wasn't going to match up. So she instead used her supportive spells first, intending to increase her abilities before jumping in.
"O mighty wind to cleave the heavens! ARMS!"
'Increasing her damage output first… Either she's planning to start with the one pinned under my foot before using other enchantments, or she thinks her natural speed and defense will be enough with me looking out for her.' Selene thought to herself as she glanced towards the Sky Dragon Slayer to ascertain which of her thoughts was correct.
"O swift wind that dashes through the heavens! VERNIER!"
The speed enchantment spilled forth from the bluette's lips. Then it was followed up with the defensive enchantment. Selene smiled as she stood corrected. The young Sky Dragon Slayer had just simply started with the strength boosting enchantment.
"O raging wind that shields the heavens! ARMOR!"
Once she was powered up with the three enchantments, Wendy disappeared from sight, moving much, much faster than Selene had expected her to. The little girl didn't have the same lust for battle that Natsu and Gajeel had, but her instincts were screaming at her to unleash her might properly. She frowned at what Grandeeney might think of what she was about to do, since she knew her adoptive mother was rather pacifistic. But she also knew that her magic would grow in strength, allowing her to improve and slowly catch up with her fellow Dragon Slayers.
"Sky Dragon's Rending Storm Talons!"
Swiping her arms across her body Wendy let out six large blades of wind that weaved between Selene's talons to slice up the wyvern under her foot. She grimaced at the sight, but stood firm as she asked for the dragoness to move so she could properly finish the wyvern off.
Satisfied that the blue haired girl wouldn't breakdown over what she'd done until after the fight Selene moved her body even as she shrunk back down into her human form and sealed the majority of her magic before focusing it in such a way that she wouldn't be identified as a dragon by those that sensed her magic.
Keeping one eye on Wendy just in case, Selene returned her attention to Gajeel. In the time that Wendy had prepared herself and started her own assault the Iron Dragon Slayer had finished off his first wyvern, and heavily damaged a second one. In fact he was just dealing the killing blow, by turning his arm into a sword that he shoved down through the wyvern's skull when she decided to check up on him.
She already knew that Natsu had run off out of her sight, but she could still scent him and his magic presence was strong enough that she could feel everything he did while inside her barrier. While she was impressed with the level the three were showing, the moon dragon knew they still had a long way to go before they were truly at their peak in terms of what they were capable of, and that was without taking the heights they could reach by going through dragonification into account.
"Sky Dragon's Secret Art, Shattering Light: Tempestuous Drill!"
Knowing she wouldn't be able to handle too many wyverns, even if killing them did increase her power level, Wendy decided to go all out with her strongest attacks. After all she needed the combat experience, and using her strongest spells would show her where her current limits were, at least in regards to the size of her magic container.
- XXxxXxXxxXX-
Despite the fact he didn't enjoy killing, even if it was a mindless beast like wyverns were, Natsu was having a ball being able to actually cut loose and use his more dangerous attacks without restraint. He had already torn through three wyverns, and was quickly making his way towards a fourth and fifth.
Sensing that he was a threat the two wyverns were attempting to barrage him with attacks from a distance. One using it's magic to conjure up jagged pillars of stone in front of him while the other launched fireball after fireball at him. Of course he easily sidestepped the stone spikes and ate the balls of fire to keep himself topped up just in case these wyverns were more dangerous than the others he had fought.
"It feels good to actually be able to cut loose."
He muttered as he lunged for the closest one fists blazing.
"Fire Dragon's Secret Art, Crimson Lotus: Blazing Rampage!"
One arm smashed into the side of the wyvern, causing it to cry out. Yet the moment it's maw opened up the other arm copied the first. As the sound began to leave the reptilian creatures gaping mouth the first fist came crashing into it once more. Again and again he brought his fists into the wyvern's side, each hit causing more and more damage both externally and internally.
He backed off when the other wyvern stopped breathing fire at him and attempted to shred him with it's talons. But it was already too late for the earth wyvern. He managed to land thirteen hits before pulling away, and the thirteenth had enough force to cause the monster's rib-cage to collapse. As it's pain filled wail died out, so too did it's life force. A scant few seconds after the wyvern stilled, it burst into particles of magic that surged towards him. As they came in contact with his skin, Natsu felt it boosting his magic.
Each time he killed a wyvern he felt his power grow, but this last one must have been stronger than the other's he'd killed as the boost was a touch more noticeable. If he had to guess, based on the increase he felt at least, he would say the earth wyvern was not quite twice as strong as the first three.
Ducking under the tail being swiped at him from the next wyvern, Natsu grinned as an idea formed in his mind. Just before the tail was out of his reach he grabbed on. He'd just come up with a way to use one of his normally non-lethal attacks to at the very least cause some serious damage to the wyvern.
"Fire Dragon's Grip Strike!"
Normally his flames would rapidly spread out from his hand which would hold on tightly enough to prevent the enemy from escaping, but this time he channeled his magic a bit differently. Rather than gushing out of him as if it were a torrent of flame, he let it build up a bit before exploding forth. The idea was to add a bit more force to the flames allowing them to burn a little hotter so that they would punch through the wyverns scales.
After all he had already known that he could override the wyvern's immunity to flames with sheer power, but he was curious just how much power it would actually take. He didn't really think he had needed to use his secret art back when he and Cana first went on that job and he killed his first wyvern, but Natsu had done so simply because he didn't want to waste any more time. This time however, he didn't have any worries about there being a time limit. They were inside a barrier cast by a very powerful dragon after all.
When the wyvern cried out as he almost quite literally burned it's tail off, Natsu smirked. Jumping up, he landed on the beasts back. Despite it's thrashing about both from the pain and the attempt to knock him away, Natsu wasn't bothered in least. Of course part of that was because he was only trying to use the wyvern as a spring board to get high in the air.
As he climbed into the sky, he pulled his magic into his stomach just like he normally would when preparing to unleash a roar. When he finally hit the apex of his jump and began falling He let loose.
"Fire Dragon's Blazing Roar!"
The torrent of flames that burst from his mouth were a bright yellow, just as the last time he'd used this spell, though they were a bit hotter this time around. They crashed into the wyvern, forcing it to the ground as it cried out from the pain. Despite the brightness, Natsu's eyes were able to catch the fact that his fire was causing the wyvern's scales to crack and shatter.
Of course his roar didn't last very long, as he also had gravity affecting him. But it didn't need to. It had already lasted long enough to fatally wound the beast. His attack broke the wyvern's scales and charred most of the creatures internals while the heat evaporated most of its blood.
In fact, the moment his feet touched the ground they last of the wyvern's life force faded away and it's body became particles of magic in the air. Yet Natsu ignored that, instead focusing his attention elsewhere as his sniffed the air, trying to find how many more wyverns there were and where they were at. After a second his grin turned feral and he lunged in the direction he scented the closest wyvern from.
It was up in the air and flying at a fairly fast pace so it didn't notice him until it was too late, which was strange considering it seemed to be fleeing from the others yet was coming directly towards him. Timing it just right Natsu leapt into the air. Coming up under the wyvern Natsu delivered a powerful upper cut with a fist ignited in yellow flames instead of the usual orange.
"Fire Dragon's Scorching Iron Fist!"
Thanks to the fact it was a surprise attack Natsu caught the wyvern right on the jaw, throwing it's head straight up into the air even as it's momentum was halted and it's body started to fall. Igniting his feet with flames to keep him in the air for a moment longer, Natsu waited until he could see the top of the wyvern's head before moving.
"Sorry big guy but there's still more of you so I can't keep playing around."
He commented as his magic surged into his arms. Crossing them above his head he waited until he was low enough that any possible backlash from this next attack wouldn't send him flying.
"Fire Dragon's Secret Art, Crimson Lotus: Incandescent Cross!"
- XXxxXxXxxXX-
'Training these younglings is going to be a bit more time consuming than I originally thought.' Selene told herself as she watched Wendy finish off her second wyvern. Despite the blue haired girl using her strongest attacks, it was clear that she didn't have the level of power required to keep up with Natsu and Gajeel just yet.
Of course she expected the lack of power and the inexperience. But Selene was a bit surprised to see that the Sky Dragon Slayers more powerful attacks were so unstable and taxing on the poor girl. Shaking her head she moved closer to the little girl as Wendy finally managed to bring the wyvern down to the ground.
"Sky Dragon's Cyclone Dance!"
The blue haired girl ran in a tight circle creating a tornado as she moved before suddenly running in reverse creating a suction effect within the winds that caused the wyvern she was fighting to crash to the earth. Without missing a beat she charged towards the creature before it could stand again.
"Sky Dragon's Razor Fangs!"
Her left arm rose up as her right arm swept downward, both fists clinched as her knuckles smashed together. Mimicking the movement of her arms, the wind around them took the form of a dragons head, crushing the wyvern between its teeth.
By this point Wendy was panting heavily, but she refused to stop moving. If she stopped then Selene would have to step in. While she had no problems relying on the dragoness, Wendy did want to show that she was willing to put in the effort just like Natsu and Gajeel.
"Sky Dragon's Secret Art, Shattering Light: Wind Bullet Barrage!"
Small whirlwinds formed around her hands as she took the last few steps needed for her to be in contact with the wyvern. Then without pause, she unleashed a storm of punches on the beast, each one breaking through it's scales with ease. Only when its body became magic particles did she let up.
Taking a deep breath Wendy turned towards where she scented the closest wyvern to be, only to find it rapidly approaching her. Despite being mindless beasts, wyverns were still capable of sensing the size and condition of a beings magic container. Wendy didn't know it, but she had spent so much magic that the wyvern felt she would be easy prey now.
Understanding the situation, and feeling like the child needed a moment to catch her breath, Selene raised a hand towards the wyvern.
"Moon Dragon's Moonlight Palm."
She muttered before sending a blast of magic towards they wyvern. The moment it made contact her attack exploded harshly. Already knowing what would happen, Selene just walked towards Wendy, intending to speak with the blue haired girl. Wendy however watched as the explosion violently tore the wyvern to shreds in the time it would have taken her to snap her fingers. Normally the sight would have caused the Sky Dragon Slayer to feel sick, but the adrenaline running through her system kept the nausea at bay.
"Pace yourself young one. There is no need to tire yourself out."
Selene commented as she placed a hand on Wendy's shoulder.
"But I practically have to go all out to punch through their scales."
"I'm not saying to use less powerful or damaging attacks. I'm saying slow down and take the time to regain some of your magic. As a Sky Dragon Slayer you should never be low on magic. Also calm yourself and stop forcing the ruthlessness when you fight. It's causing your magic to be less effective."
The dragoness commented as she shook her head. 'It's strange how comfortable I feel offering advice to the little girl. Then again, she is part of Natsu's nest, so maybe I'm instinctively including her in the category of family...'
Seeing the wisdom in Selene's advice the blue haired girl started taking large gulps of air as she recharged her magic. In fact she felt a little embarrassed to be reminded of the fact that she didn't really need to worry about how much magic she had given the fact she could just consume the air to recharge. But she didn't understand what the dragoness meant by her magic being less effective because she was quote "forcing the ruthlessness" end quote.
Knowing that the young girl wasn't quite getting it, Selene sighed.
"How to explain what I mean..." she started before trailing off.
Even though she understood Selene was trying to help, Wendy felt that wrapping the matter up quickly so they could talk on the way home was better. So once she refilled her magic she shot off like a bullet for the closest wyvern.
'Children these days' the silver haired woman thought to herself as she rolled her eyes.
- XXxxXxXxxXX-
Roughly two hours later the three dragon slayers and the dragoness had regrouped.
"I got nine of the bastards."
Natsu commented with a smirk. It hadn't been very difficult, but given the fact he was allowed to cut loose and use whatever spell he wanted, he thought it had been a good workout.
"Damn. I only got six."
Gajeel muttered after hearing Natsu's count.
"Not bad. I didn't have to step in, but I saw a good moment that I could use to teach the youngling, so I killed one, and she finished off the last three."
Selene responded mentally adding up their counts to make sure that all nineteen wyverns had been killed.
"Gehehehe, that's pretty good there."
Gajeel said as he affectionately rubbed Wendy's head. Natsu smirked as he patted her shoulder.
"Yeah, the metal freak is right. Good job Wendy."
The moon dragon smiled before shaking her head.
"Well we're done here, so should we find some of the council's scouts to report the news before heading off?"
"Sounds good to me."
Natsu replied as they started to walk towards the south-west where they could just faintly smell another person. While the scent grew stronger as the moved, it still ended up taking them an hour and a half to find the one they were able to smell.
"Report back to the council that the wyverns have been killed. I only killed one, these three killed the other eighteen."
Selene ordered the scout without even looking at them. The man bristled at her tone, but held back considering he sensed that all four of them could kick his ass in a fight.
"Very well. As the council wishes to compensate you directly rather than Fairy Tail, I must ask how many each of you dispatched."
The man told them after taking a calming breath.
"I took down nine, Gajeel killed six, and Wendy got the remaining three."
Natsu answered, specifically using Gajeel's name so that he could be credited properly. When the man nodded, Selene chimed back in.
"Have them give my wyvern bounty to Natsu. I don't need it."
"Expect payment in three to five days depending on how long it takes the council to find the funds."
The scout said before running off back in the direction of Era.
"Let's head home."
Natsu stated as he took the lead while they towards Magnolia.
