Lucy was in pure nirvana.
If this was what love was like then she would have tried to fall in love a lot sooner.
But then none of them would have been Natsu so she often wished she knew him sooner.
This man was the man of her dream without her even realizing he was what she dreamt about. She always thought she would settle with someone who was more on the quiet side but kind and gentle. It was just really the opposite because Natsu was not quiet nor gentle. He was kind in many ways but he didn't hesitate to throw a punch if required. But boy did he make her heart flutter and her body soar high whenever he would kiss her or even look in her direction.
The way he would worship her as if she was truly one of a kind was the biggest thing for her. No man would ever compare to this literal sex god.
She was pretty sure she had eggs and ketchup in her hair but she didn't seem to really care at the moment. Not when she was sprawled across the table with Natsu buried in between her thighs. There were more important matters to attend to and that was to reach her high.
Her moans were muffled behind her hand as her hips bucked and eyes watered. Her body was quivering from his constant licks and probes of his tongue. Soft gasps and whines escaped her lips, large warm hands palming at her breasts. His muffled encouragement was still heard through her womanhood and she was shameless as she rode his face. With his face buried deep within her folds, he lapped up any nectar she produced, hungrily devouring his meal as if it would kill him if he didn't.
The morning started off as any morning did. They woke up early (nearly six in the morning) still drunk and giggly and decided to make breakfast. It took them a long time to get things together and they made a giant mess but by the time it was seven they had successfully made scrambled eggs, reheated waffles, and some bacon. Natsu snagged all the sauces they would need along with water and they stumbled back into their room in a fit of shushing and giggling.
She was moaning about how great the food was and it turned into some flirting and some suggestive bantering and looks and then she didn't know what she had said for him to suddenly throw the dishes to the floor and begin devouring her instead but she really didn't care to dig into it. She was in literal heaven as she climbed to her climax.
"Oh, Natsu… I'm… I—" she inhaled sharply as his fingers curled inside of her. "I'm coming!"
Her body slumped against the table and her chest heaved with her heavy breathing. His sloppy glistening grin nearly blinded her as she suddenly felt the exhaustion hit her hard.
"Best breakfast ever," he kissed her hard, making her taste her own on his tongue. "Good morning." He purred and she was giggling as she pushed him off of her.
"Bed. Tired."
"You have five minutes, Heartfillia, and then we're going again."
Scratch that. Lucy didn't know if she was in heaven or in hell reliving the same torture day in and day out. If her clit didn't throb in anticipation she may have well been in hell but his large warm hands that cupped her flesh only had her moaning.
"Make it ten and I'll suck you off."
Natsu hummed to himself as he was thinking about it, helping her off the table as he scooped her up in his arms. He plopped her on the bed before diving in right beside her, peppering her face with kisses. "Fine but I want to put it in your ass."
"In your dreams, Dragneel."
The rosy-haired male scoffed, twirling her hair on his finger. "Been there, done that."
Gray felt like the world was coming to an end. He had a head-splitting headache that made him really think he might have split his head in half and to make things worse, he barely remembered anything from last night. He was a fucking mess and this wasn't something he wasn't used to but boy does it fucking suck every time. Someone really had to come out with a hangover cure because he really shouldn't have to nurse his hangover with more alcohol.
"Get that shit out of my face."
"Don't be such a baby," Mirajane huffed, thrusting the Gatorade and painkillers into his hands. "Take this. It'll help you."
"No." He stubbornly pushed the things back to the older woman, gulping down his beer. "This is helping just fine."
"Drinking more alcohol to get rid of your hangover is not—"
"Let him sulk like the bitch he is, Mira," Laxus' gruff voice came from behind. Gray's eyes narrowed at the blonde male who stood there in just his swim trunks and a pair of sunglasses perched on his crooked nose. "He'll be fine after another beer."
"Gray is already lightweight as it is. We don't need—"
"Hey, I am not a lightweight!" Gray tried to say but he was ignored as the couple in front of him bickered back and forth about his livelihood. He felt like he was sitting at home watching mom and dad fight and his right eye was twitching along with his head.
He just chose to ignore them just like they were ignoring him and he closed his eyes to rub at his temples.
He woke up this morning with Juvia still passed out beside him and not wanting to disrupt his sleeping beauty, he snuck out to grab some water to stumble into this shit. With Mirajane pestering him about taking care of himself more and asking about last night, he decided that water was not necessary but more so a cold, fresh beer.
This woman could talk for fucking days and he rather not go down that road especially when he was one second away from going on a killing spree. Why is everyone so goddamn happy in the morning? Why isn't anyone else hungover?
He really had no idea how he was so wasted considering he barely remembered the stupid fake ass wedding Natsu and Lucy hosted.
"Wait," Gray held his hand up as Mirajane turned to look at him, ceasing her argument with Laxus. "Was I super fucked up or did Natsu and Lucy actually get married last night?"
Laxus rolled his eyes as he went to grab himself a drink while Mirajane grinned at him.
"You're right. They got married last night."
"They did not." A new voice came into their conversation and Gray squinted as the bright blue of Levy's hair hurt his eyes. Juvia's hair color was much softer than hers and he didn't think he would miss his girl as much as he did now.
"They did." Mirajane shot her sister a glare and Levy rolled her eyes as she came over to sit at the counter with a grumpy looking Gajeel trailing her. He went straight to the fridge to grab water before he threw his large body against the couch, barely saying a word or acknowledging anyone else.
"Mira, you don't have to pretend anymore."
"I'm not!"
Levy gave her a flat look before turning to look at Gray. "It was fake. All of it."
"I knew it!" He regretted raising his voice as the pounding came back. He chugged the rest of his beer to let out a belch earning a glare from Mirajane.
"It was not fake! It was real!"
Levy ignored the shrill woman as she continued to talk with Gray. "We did it to see if you'd crack but clearly you're still a pussy."
Gray gawked at the petite woman who insulted him and he was low key offended that he was being called such a derogatory name. He was not a pussy—
"Good morning," Erza's yawn triggered a pattern from those around as she came strutting into the kitchen in her ridiculously long and sheer robe. The thing dragged behind her as the faux fur on her wrists danced in the air with her movements, the red-haired woman coming to the fridge to yank out a carton of orange juice.
She blinked in confusion when she turned around to see everyone was looking at her. "What?"
"Erza, what the hell are you wearing?"
"You look like you just got back after murdering your really rich but old husband." Levy was the only one smiling as Mirajane had rushed off somewhere while Laxus and Gajeel were making a face. Gray rolled his eyes as he sighed, making his way to find himself another beer to help his headache.
"Ironic since she's dating a cop."
"It's funny you say that because Jellal is the one to buy me this robe." She grabbed at the sheer fabric to pull across her body further. "But I will take the compliment."
"Who complimented—?" Gajeel got cut off as Elfman and Evergreen came into the kitchen.
"Good morning!" Elfman's loud voice made Gray wince.
Evergreen swatted at his chest, scowling at the muscle head who frowned and rubbed at the spot. "It is too early for you to be shouting!"
"It's eleven o'clock—"
"Here, Ever," Gray whistled at the green-haired one to grab her attention. He tossed a small bottle her way and she barely caught it, squeaking out as it nearly slipped out of her hands.
"Don't throw it!" She hissed before she was flipping it over to look at it. "A wine cooler? Seriously?"
"If you're as hungover as I am then that is the only thing that will help."
"Ever heard of electrolytes and painkillers, Gray?" Levy quirked a brow at him as she came over to his side to now be the one rummaging through the fridge.
"Fuck all that." He cracked open his second beer of the day before downing half of it. "It's summer."
Levy simply scoffed and Gray was giving her a glare.
"Where's Natsu and Lucy?" Erza asked as she slid over to the dining table to pull a chair out and lean back against it.
"Oh, leave those two love birds be. They just got married last night." Evergreen waved her hand around as she found herself a seat as well, a smile curving on her lips.
Gray rolled his eyes as Levy groaned out loud. "For the last time—!" The petite bluenette was starting to get wound up to start her rant but Mirajane had rushed back into the room, practically breathless while waving a piece of paper in the air.
"I got it! I got it!" She said in between puffs of air and they all turned to look at her with confusion and curiosity.
"Get what?"
They all waited for the woman to get her things together as she tried to collect herself, hunched over with her hands on her knees. She looked as if she had run a mile in less than three minutes and they had no idea what went through that wild head of hers.
"I got… I got the proof."
"Proof of what?"
"Proof of Natsu and Lucy's wedding!" She said as if it was obvious and Gray made his way over to where she was to see what she meant by that. Levy was hot on his tail as they started to near the platinum blonde.
"What is she talking about?" Elfman leaned over to ask Evergreen who shrugged, indulging in the wine cooler even after her saying how ridiculous it was to be drinking so early.
"The marriage certificate, silly!" She said as Gray snatched the paper out of her hands. Levy was quick to come and rip the paper out of his own hands before he could even read it and the others were coming to crowd around her to look.
Mirajane stood there with a triumphant smirk to her face, arms crossed and hips popped out.
Levy was the first one to react as her eyes widened and her jaw dropped. Erza's eyes widened in size while her face flushed in color and Evergreen gasped out loud making everyone look around.
Laxus looked as confused as ever as he turned to look at Gray's gawking expression to Elfman's confused one. "I'm confused. Why is this a surprise?"
"Mira!" Levy screeched, ignoring everyone else as they tried to take the certificate out of her hands. "I thought this was a fake wedding!"
"It was fake?" Elfman was now gawking as he turned to look at his girlfriend who sighed and rolled her eyes.
"No it wasn't fake," Mira scowled at her own brother before her attention was ripped back to the angry petite. "And nobody said it was supposed to be a fake wedding."
"Mira! This was supposed to be fake! We all talked about this!"
"No, we talked about having a wedding for Natsu and Lucy, who were very excited about it."
"A fake one, Mira. A fake one!" Levy was screeching and it was helping nobody's hangovers but Mirajane continued to keep her sweet innocent smile on her face while everyone was having a meltdown about this.
"Do you just have these on hand or something?" Gray asked in disbelief as Mirajane's smile widened.
"Why? Interested in signing one? Perhaps with—"
"Fuck no. Don't you get any ideas." He shot her a glare and she just sighed in defeat while pouting.
"How did you even get those two to sign this?" It was now Evergreen's turn to read over the very real and official certificate as she looked at the messy scribble on the bottom.
"Those two were so drunk, this can't be legal." Gajeel scoffed as he kept a hand on Levy's shoulder to stop her from pouncing on Mirajane.
"There's no way Lucy would sign that paper if she knew what it was!" Gray was now crying out as he felt his own panic rising. Why? He didn't know why, either because this wasn't his goddamn wedding or his life that he signed away but it made it worse as he realized the power this woman had.
He made a mental note to not get too plastered around Mirajane and promise or offer her anything.
And to keep Juvia away from her because clearly she was psychotic.
Mirajane scoffed, giving him a furrowed look as if she was offended. "Excuse me, what kind of person do you think I am? You honestly think I would lie to Natsu and Lucy to get them to just sign a marriage certificate?"
A course of yeses sang through the crowd and her mood soured further, cheeks flushing.
"Of course I didn't! I told them the truth! They willingly signed on their own accord as you can see on the piece of paper!" She snatched back the certificate from Elfman's hands as she held it up to present to the crowd. "See?" She angrily pointed at the bottom to show off the messy scribble of their signatures. "Lucy Heartfillia and Natsu Dragneel."
"Natsu is going to fucking flip when he finds out—"
"Find out about what?"
Elfman was the one to actually screech like a little girl at the sudden appearance of the rosy-haired male and Gray was back to groaning as he pinched the bridge of his nose. Evergreen was cringing and glaring while Laxus was holding back his laughter. Levy still looked incredibly pissed and Erza was in a daze while she looked out the large window.
Natsu was the only one looking confused at the sudden calmness and silence as he slowly made his way over to the fridge.
"Um, so, find out about what?"
"Where's Lucy?"
"She ran into Juvia on the way down and they went to talk," his eyes met Gray's furrowed expression for a second before he was looking around the room again. "So find out about what?" He kept repeating as he now held his own cold can of beer, cracking it open to sip at the foam that bubbled out.
"Do you remember anything from last night?" Gray asked as Natsu scoffed and found himself a home on the stool by the island.
"No. I honestly don't remember anything after everyone got here."
A silence ticked by as everyone exchanged uneasy looks with one another and his brows knitted together. "What? Did something happen last night?"
"You're about to be in for the surprise of your life, buddy," Laxus came over to clasp him on the shoulder and Natsu was sweating as his eyes darted from him to the rest of the crowd.
"Oh, God, please don't tell me I did something crazy again—"
"You definitely did something crazy last night." Levy muttered under her breath and Gajeel steered her away from Mirajane as he guided her towards the dining table where Erza had yet to come back to earth.
Natsu's face paled as his eyes ping ponged between the various facial expressions as he hoped he didn't do anything too crazy or stupid. Nothing could ever top him almost burning the entire frat tow to the ground his freshman year and if they're saying he did something crazy, he knew he had to do something that was close to that.
"Does Lucy know?" His worry was creasing his forehead as he hoped his own girlfriend wouldn't be so angry with him for possibly destroying something on her property. She didn't seem to mention anything this morning but granted they haven't done much talking.
"It involves you and Lucy."
"Oh God, what is it? What did I do? Is it bad? Did the cops get involved? What about the fire department? Anyone hurt?!"
"Somebody please tell this dumbass before he has an aneurysm." Laxus sighed as Mirajane approached him with said paper in hand.
Natsu eyed her and the piece of paper she had skeptically, hoping it wasn't a restraining order or possibly a bill for whatever damage he may have done. Or maybe it was a warrant out for his arrest—
He was quick to take the piece of paper from Mirajane as she held it out to him, his eyes reading the ink as quick as possible.
Everyone was quiet, watching his facial expression twist into confusion as his eyes raced across the sheet. They watched as his eyes dragged down to pin against their messy signature and his brows furrowed even further before his eyes were back to the top of the certificate to drag back down to the bottom.
"What the hell is this?" He finally asked after a while of silence and there was a collective sigh and groans forming from the crowd.
"This," Gray took the sheet of paper from his hands to hold it out in front of said rosy-haired male. "Is a marriage certificate."
"Okay?" He dragged out the words as his eyes continued to wander to gauge everyone else's reaction. "And?"
Gray's right eye was twitching as he slammed down his beer and held his finger up to the bottom of the paper. "And," he was hissing at his idiotic dense best friend. "This right here," he pointed at their messy signature. "Is yours and Lucy's signature."
Natsu still looked as if he was lost and Gajeel was slapping his hand against his forehead as Laxus and Evergreen were shaking their heads. Levy resorted to pinching the bridge of her nose while inhaling to exhale while Erza had her face covered with her palms.
"You dumbass, you and bunny-girl got married last night!" Gajeel snapped and Natsu's head twisted to stare at him with wide eyes and a slack jaw. "Fucking dumbass."
"Whaaat?" He said in complete shock. When he noticed nobody was making a move to tell him they were just fucking with him, he looked back at his irritated looking frat brother. It didn't even faze him that his shirt had suddenly gone missing in the two seconds he looked away as his eyes zoned in on the certificate Gray was still holding.
"Hold up," Natsu rose from his seat as he snatched the paper back to hold it up to his face. "You're telling me… Lucy and I got married last night?"
"Yes." Levy groaned out in annoyance.
"As in… legally married?"
"Yes, Natsu." Mirajane beamed and he slowly lowered the paper to gawk at his friends.
"Like… husband and wife?"
"What part of this don't you understand?!" Gray shouted, lunging forward to fist the front of his shirt with a crazy look to his face. "You and Lucy got married last night because your drunk ass decided to sign the paper!"
"How the hell do I know this isn't fake?"
"Mirajane is ordained." Laxus waved it off casually as he had lost interest in all of this. His attention instead focused on whatever was happening on his phone while he casually sipped out of his mug.
Natsu's eyes found Mirajane's and she was smiling so brightly at him he couldn't find it in him to be upset. Actually, he wasn't upset at all. He was actually more shocked than anything but for some wild reason, he didn't see a problem with this. Lucy was going to be his wife one day so for his friends to speed up the process it kind of made it a relief he didn't have to go through all the trouble.
"Why are you smiling?" Gray asked in bewilderment before turning to look at his friends. "Why is he smiling?"
"I think Natsu actually is okay with this." Evergreen mused, eyebrows raised as she looked at his dreamy expression.
Elfman was choking on his drink while Gajeel was back to slapping his hand against his forehead. Levy was now groaning into his hands as Erza had officially checked out with how red and dizzy she looked.
Mirajane squealed, clapping her hands together. "So, you're okay with this?"
"Oh fuck yeah," his smile turned into a full on grin as he gave the paper back to her. "You just made my life a hundred times easier, Mira. Thanks!"
"Lucy is going to fucking kill you both."
"No way," Natsu pushed Gray away and scowled. "She would be so happy to know she has such a stud of a husband like me!"
"I'm sure she'd be happier if she remembered marrying you." Levy muttered under her breath but she got ignored as Evergreen nudged her on the side.
"Lucy!" Natsu suddenly screamed, making everyone jolt in their spot and Gray was one second away from wrapping his fingers around his neck to wring him out. Gajeel wasn't too far behind as he tossed a deathly glare his way.
"Natsu!" Her squeal came back a minute later and they could hear her footsteps approach.
"Someone make some popcorn." Laxus called out. "I need something to snack on while this goes down."
"How about a beer?" Elfman asked and the blonde shrugged.
"I guess that'll do."
"How are you guys so sure she's going to be pissed?" Mirajane turned to look at her boyfriend and brother conspiring with a frown and her arms crossed. "Lucy was the one who actually proposed this idea."
"Yeah," Levy looked at them with a dumbfounded look. "When she was drunk. Lucy would never—"
"Lucy would never what?" The said blonde asked as she entered the kitchen with Juvia in tow. Everyone was quick to turn their heads to look at the newcomers and she raised her brow at the look they were giving them. She turned to look at Juvia who shrugged her shoulders.
Gray instantly beamed at the sight of his girl and she noticed his gaze to make a beeline straight for him. He opened his arm out as she latched herself to his side and he pressed a kiss on top of the crown of her head.
"There's my wife!" Natsu squealed excitedly and Lucy was caught off guard as he came barreling towards her to wrap his arms around her small figure from behind. The small smile curved on her lips as she leaned into him and he pressed a wet kiss on her cheek earning a giggle.
"Hello, husband," she purred back and the group of Fairy Tail including Juvia watched them with mild interest.
"Lucy," Erza was quick to grab her attention. "Do you remember anything from last night?"
"Uh," her eyes darted around the many eager faces. "Kind of?"
"Do you remember getting married?"
"Kind of, sort of. I sort of blanked after we spoke with Juvia." Her eyes trailed sheepishly over to Juvia who giggled. "And of course afterwards. I sobered up sometime after Mira went to bed, I think." She looked over at her older sister for her to nod excitedly, a bright smile on her face. "Why?"
"Are you aware—" Levy snatched the paper back from the hands of Mirajane who gasped. "That you actually are married?"
"What?" Lucy practically spat out as she lunged for the piece of paper in her best friend's hand.
"Alright, who is betting on Natsu getting his ass beat?" Laxus leaned in at the dining table to whisper over the commotion. "I have twenty."
"I think your girl might be the one getting chewed out for this one." Gajeel grumbled under his breath and Laxus and Elfman quickly turned to ensure their loved one was still in tact.
"Mira, what is the meaning of this?" Lucy asked in complete shock and disbelief, holding the certificate up to walk towards the sheepish looking woman. "I thought this was supposed to be fake. How did you forge my signature?"
"You signed that actually. Both of you did."
"What?" She spat out again as she turned to look at Natsu who was just smiling like an idiot. "Did you know about this?"
"Babe, I blacked out as soon as everyone got here. I don't even remember going to bed last night. I woke up drunk!" He defended himself as if he was being accused and he looked around the crowd for some support.
She glared right at him which made him shrink back slightly before she whirled back around to give Mirajane a stern look.
"I did not sign this!"
"You did." Mirajane didn't falter over her stern glare, still as calm and sweet as ever. "I asked you two if you wanted to make it official and sign a document and you guys were eager to do so." She reminded her but Lucy was just staring at her like she said something fucking stupid. Which she did because how could she have signed a legal document testifying her commitment to her boyfriend without even knowing.
Her eye was twitching and she was seething with anger. She didn't know what she was most pissed about.
The fact that she didn't remember her own wedding or the fact that Mirajane so sneakily got her to sign her life away to Natsu. This wasn't in her five year plan at all. She was really hoping to get her proposal and her wedding day but she had ended up doing it all ass backwards and drunk out of her mind.
What would her mother think of her?
"So let me get this straight," Lucy said slowly as she pinched the bridge of her nose. Her fists were clearly clenched as well as her teeth with how they could hear the grinding from across the room.
"Oh, shit, bunny-girl bout to throw hands." Gajeel whispered over to the crowd.
"Am I supposed to get in between that?" Laxus whispered back as Elfman shuddered.
"I learned not to get in between women in fights. You just have to let them duke it out. Lis and Mira had me in their crossfire and it is not manly."
"Oh shut it, they're not going to do anything." Evergreen scoffed as she down the last bit of her wine cooler. "Mirajane and Lucy aren't fighters."
Evergreen felt a bit self conscious when everyone at the table including Erza and Gray who was nearly across the room was staring right at her giving her a flat look. She flushed slightly as she tipped her glasses further up her face. "What?"
"Lucy? Not a fighter? Do you not remember when she body slammed Loke and two of our pledges at the time?"
"And don't even get me started on Mira," Elfman said and Laxus even shivered with him at the mention of the she-devil.
"You let two totally drunk kids sign a legal document knowing they were not coherent enough to make such an important decision?" Her words were seeping out in such a calm manner it was scarier.
Mirajane simply nodded, her hands clasped together in front of her. "Yep!"
Lucy's jaw was dropped in horror as she looked from her sister's beaming expression to those sitting at the table until she turned back to look at Natsu. He wasn't any help as he pretended he was doing something else with his eyes casted to the ceiling.
"Mira, can we please talk? Privately?" She emphasized and Mirajane nodded as she hooked her arm around Lucy's. "Natsu, come."
"Yes, baby." He was already turning to follow the two girls and he flicked off his friends who were snickering at his submissiveness. They just laughed even harder as his face flushed and his scowl deepened before the three were gone and it was only them left in a blanket of awkward silence.
"So," Gray broke the silence as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Breakfast?"
"Good idea. We all need to eat before our very busy day," Erza rose from her spot as collected confused thoughts were voiced out. "Let us all get to work. We have plenty of hands."
Another groan came from the group and despite nobody wanting to get up and make breakfast, they rather do this one small domestic action than tell Erza Scarlet no.
—X—
Lucy really thought she had lost her marbles. Not only her marbles but her goddamn fucking mind for allowing Mirajane so sneakily to do that behind her back (is it really when she's the one who suggested it and signed it?) but Mirajane is also her senior and she respects and loves her. Like, a lot. Mirajane is one of the nicest, understanding, and caring people she knows. She's very talented in many ways and of course that big brain of hers is a huge plus. Beautiful women who also have the smarts are elite so Lucy always thought highly of Mirajane.
Even today when she figured out she had signed a marriage certificate with her blacked out boyfriend last night, she had respect and love for Mirajane because she knew she wasn't stupid.
Mirajane is a woman not to be messed with and she even knew that much. She's pledged under that woman and it was safe to say she had nightmares about her for a bit. Even though she was pissed beyond belief to wake up to find out she was actually wed last night, she knew she would not win in a fight with the oldest Strauss sibling.
"Of course it's not real," Mirajane pulled Lucy closer to whisper at her. Natsu's entire face went blank as if he heard the words come out of her mouth, his jaw growling slack at the confession. "Well, technically not real because I never sent it in. Besides, when you obtain a marriage certificate it's supposed to be sent within thirty days and I've had this for way longer than thirty days."
"Do I want to ask?" Lucy sighed in relief and Mirajane just gave her one of those smiles.
"I just really wanted to mess with everyone."
"Wait, so we're not really married?" Natsu looked so sad at the idea it made Mirajane's eyes water and Lucy to cringe.
As much as they did spoke about their future together and she fully agreed to being his wife one day, she truly wanted to do it right. Not at her family's beach house with her friends as witness and her hearing a stupid goddamn veil made out of toilet paper.
"Unless you want to be?"
"Yes—"
"No, Natsu." Lucy interrupted to shoot him a glare and he frowned, pouting in his spot as she turned back to look at Mirajane. "No more getting any of us to sign legal documents when we are drunk."
Mirajane also gave her a pouty look and Lucy was one second away from screaming bloody murder as her own boyfriend was now giving her the same look. Why did she have to be the most mature and logical one here when she clearly was the youngest out of the three?
In some way she was relieved to hear Mirajane didn't just go out and file their marriage certificate but a small part of her was upset for Natsu. She knew how happy he was to know they accidentally got hitched and he was very onboard for everything and anything she had to offer but it was way too early. And she still hasn't gotten a goddamn ring on her finger and this man had been asking to impregnate her, she couldn't risk it.
"I'll buy you the world's biggest ring, Luce," Natsu hiccuped in her ear as she sat on his lap. She swirled around a carrot stick in globs of ranch before tossing it into her mouth. She hummed in response as a very drunk Natsu kept whining in her ear about this or that.
This man was the most neediest person ever when he was two sheets to the wind and the only reason why he wasn't even more of a menace was because she was sitting on his lap and keeping him leveled.
Especially since he tried to drown Gray in the pool just an hour ago.
She honestly didn't know how everyone was drunk at two in the afternoon but that was Fairy Tail for you. She really couldn't say much since she was a bit tipsy herself.
"It doesn't have to be the biggest. Anything you get me will hold value and I will cherish it forever," she offered a sweet smile as she pushed a carrot between his pouty lips.
The main reason why she did have to drink was to ease the whining of her boyfriend. Natsu was devastated after learning that everything was fake and she can't really blame him for that one. It kind of made her insides turn into mush at the sight of her little golden retriever being so happy and excited to think they truly got married.
Evergreen was laying out with Erza and Mirajane by the pool sunbathing while Elfman and Laxus lounged in the pool with empty beer cans scattering around them. She didn't need to know where Gray or Juvia disappeared to since she was practically watching Gray shove his tongue down Juvia's throat and the two were groping each other as if there was nobody else around. Gajeel and Levy had gone to the store to purchase some burgers and dogs so the group could do a cookout before the firework show tonight.
In all honesty, she didn't think that Juvia would have been alright with the idea of not having a label. Just yesterday she was saying how Gray has yet to ask the sacred question and while she does want to be claimed as his girlfriend, she said she was content enough knowing Gray loves her as much as she loves him.
Juvia being the smart woman she is, didn't approach Gray last night with the topic of the L-word and it wouldn't have worked anyways since Gray was blacked out drunk. Juvia notified her that Gray didn't even know what was said or done last night so he was a lucky fucking bastard to have that window to escape out of.
What was with these stupid Delta Tail boys and confessing their feelings while they're nearly on the brink of alcohol poisoning?
Drunk words are sober thoughts so there's that but what the fuck? Can't a girl have a nice romantic moment for once?
And of course that alone is a fucking joke on its own since this was Gray and Natsu of all people. The two idiots who liked to pull pranks, trash parties, curse like sailors, and fucked like a porn stars. Natsu may be romantic in his own ways but even when he confessed to her sober, he was practically freaking out while ramming into her.
That wasn't the most awkward but it definitely was memorable to have Natsu so flustered and demanding something from her with his cock deep inside.
And Gray is a lightweight but she was pretty surprised to hear him confess he loves Juvia. It was sweet to see and hear but she would have never thought Gray would fold so easily and in such a vulnerable state considering he spilled his entire fucking guts out prior to confessing. Multiple times.
And if Juvia says she's happy and content with her life so far then so be it because she was fucking done trying to push Gray into submission. He was so goddamn stubborn and she wondered where he got this stupid ass trait from. She usually wins and gets her way and it's been almost a year since they have been seeing each other so what is the fucking point on waiting?
Gray was making her ten years older and she really wanted to put a knife to his neck and threaten him but he was lucky she was too occupied with her whiney, pouty husband.
Even though Mirajane let them know it was fake, she asked if they wanted to continue fucking with everyone and being the prankster Natsu is, he immediately was on board. Lucy just said fuck it and allowed whatever to happen as long it doesn't involve her signing another legal document plastered. If she had to pretend that Natsu is her husband, it wouldn't be hard since she already was in love and committed.
"I swear to you, Luce, I'm going to marry ya for real."
"And I believe you," she smiled down at him as she planted a kiss on his forehead. "But do it properly."
"My wife is so beautiful," he cooed lovingly and she giggled as he nuzzled his head in between her neck. "I love you."
The smell of alcohol poured out of his mouth as if he was a fountain made out of wine and his flushed cheeks were warm against her skin. Hearing him call her his wife had butterflies soaring and all she wanted to do was melt into him.
"Alright fuckers, whose hungry?" Gajeel's booming voice filled the outdoor area as he approached with bags of groceries. Drunken cheers erupted from the crowd as if Gajeel had announced he would be handing out bags of cash. Right behind him was Levy and Jellal and Erza was the first to perk up at the sight of him.
"Hey, you made it!" Natsu cheered happily as the policeman chuckled and came over to slap hands with the rosy-haired student.
"About time." Lucy mentioned with a small smile and Jellal embraced her as Erza approached.
"Hey, how was the drive?"
"Not so bad," he smiled as he wrapped an arm around Erza who blushed at the action. "I see everyone has been indulging in their summer break. It smells like a bar here. You can literally smell it from the front of the house."
"Well, go get comfortable and get yourself a drink! We're celebrating!"
"Of course, it is the Fourth of July." Jellal happily accepted a cup from Evergreen who had made her way over to greet the newcomer.
"Oh, Natsu is not—" Erza got caught off as Jellal was mid-sip and the drunken male squealed excitedly with his arms thrown up in the air.
"Luce and I got married yesterday!" Natsu's grin was wide, his entire face beaming with joy.
Jellal nearly choked on his drink as he gave him a wild look, eyes darting over to look at Lucy's sheepish blush to everyone's smiling face.
"Did I really miss that much? Married?"
"Mirajane," Erza whispered into his ear and that was all he had to know to understand what was happening.
"Well," he chuckled half-heartedly as he held his cup out to the newlyweds. "Cheers to the newlyweds and congratulations."
"Fuck yeah! I'm all fired up!"
—X—
For some odd reason, he felt like he did something totally wack but he really couldn't put his finger on it. He just hoped it wasn't something totally out of character or stupid or embarrassing but Gray knew deep down inside something had happened.
He may be a fuck up and have a shit ton of trauma inside of his body but he still knew right or wrong. (Kind of?) He's not so confident. How was he supposed to know?
But he knew something was off with the way Juvia was and he had no idea if she was just naturally happy to be here with everyone or if something did happen. He did black out last night so maybe something did happen but he has no idea since he sure as hell wasn't going to open that can of worms with anyone. He was sure if he did something embarrassing then someone would have said something by now but it was pretty much normal (if you consider a fake wedding and shit normal).
Juvia was a lot more tentative and sweet to him (she always is but more) and he wouldn't say it was freaking him out but he had this feeling. This weird warm feeling that made it uncomfortable to breathe and made him question his sanity.
And asking Juvia about it seemed like a death sentence because he obviously didn't want to get into that shit but it made him super skeptical.
"Gray," he perked up at the sound of his name, turning his head to see his one and only approaching him.
He sat away from the group to collect his thoughts and seeing how this beauty was so radiant in the afternoon light made his body tingle in delight. A smile brushed across his lips as he allowed her to come over and sit beside him, the soft tunes of the party still bumping behind them. He moved the beer can away so she wouldn't accidentally knock it over.
"Are you okay?" She asked as she sat down next to him, her own thigh brushing against his own for electric currents to zip through his body.
"I'm fine," he wrapped one arm around her body to bring her closer, planting a kiss on top of her head. "You?"
"Good. Just worried about you, you've been away from everyone for a bit."
"Just needed a breather," he let out a soft laugh and she was smiling at him.
The two sat in silence for a minute, enjoying how the sun dipped below the horizon and the day was coming to an end.
He should be plastered right now but after his post-sex nap, he had woken up and found this weird lingering feeling and just didn't know how to stomach anything. That's why he had resorted to drinking a beer instead of chugging down the many alcoholic beverages that never seem to deplete no matter how much people drank.
Gajeel had been giving him this weird smirk all fucking day and Natsu was just annoying like always so he didn't really think so much into it but even Levy had been giving him the side eye.
He didn't know what was even weirder, Gajeel or Levy, but those two were a package deal so he was unsure how to handle that one.
He could go to Lucy but he didn't know how that would go or if Natsu would be willing to detach from his wife's side for a second. He had been a weirdo clingy bitch since they got hitched and Gray would prefer not to mess with that. Or he might be walking into something again and he's already had to try and bleach his mind off the many, many times he had walked into them fucking.
"Gray?"
"Yeah?" He looked over to see Juvia flushed and slightly flustered, fidgeting in her place. He eyed her weirdly, wondering why she was being so shy as if they've never really talked or seen each other naked.
"Um, I, well," she stuttered, face growing redder as she spoke and he raised a brow at her. "Well, I just… I wanted to say—"
"Yo!"
The two of them jumped in their spot, startled at the new voice. They both twisted to see Natsu waving at them, a wide grin on his flushed face.
"Fireworks are about to start! You coming or what, Gray?"
"I'm coming! Give me a second!" He shouted right back before turning back to Juvia. "You were saying?"
"Oh, um, I just wanted to—"
"Come on underwear prince!" Natsu's voice had grown louder as he approached and Gray was scowling, glaring at the drunktard. "We've been looking everywhere for you." He slurred, hiccuping and reeking of alcohol and chlorine.
"Can't you see we're having a fucking conversaion?"
"About what?"
"About how much of a fucking idiot you are."
"Don't act as if I won't fuck you up in front of your girl," Natsu hissed, his body jolting with his hiccups and Gray narrowed his eyes.
"It's okay, you should go. We can talk later." Juvia offered a smile, placing her hand on his arm to have him turn back to her.
"You sure? It seemed pretty important." His brows furrowed with worry and Juvia just shook her head, hair bouncing around her pale face.
Juvia leaned in to plant a sweet kiss on his cheek and his face flushed, seeing how this beautiful woman stood and bid her goodbyes to the two before she was off. Gray could only stand and watch her leave, a small smile to his lips as he thanked whoever that brought Juvia to his doorsteps.
"So, you two good?" Natsu asked Gray for him to turn and look at his best friend.
His lips pursed as he wondered if Natsu was someone he could dump his troubles onto at the moment but considering he was a lot more drunk than he is, it may be a problem. And he won't be any fucking help putting together any missing pieces from last night since he was also blacked out drunk.
"Yeah, I think so," Gray sighed and the two frat brothers were walking back towards the house. "Do you think Juvia is different?"
"I mean, she's always been kind of an oddball," Natsu shrugged and Gray snapped his neck over to squint at him. "But not really, why?"
"I don't know," Gray was now the one shrugging as they approached the backyard. "Feel like she's… happy?"
"You're worried that your girl is happy? What are you, a sadist?"
"Not like that, idiot," Gray scoffed, rolling his eyes at the male who hiccuped and furrowed his brows. "I just mean… happy… er? She's been like this all day."
"Maybe it's because you finally told her you love her," Natsu hiccuped as he turned to beam at his wife who was over where Gajeel, Laxus, Elfman, and Levy were at. They looked to be unloading and unwrapping the fireworks to get started before complete darkness surrounded the world, orange and red hues swallowing Akane. "My wife!" He squealed excited and he was trying to make a dash for it but Gray was quick to yank him back by his arm, his eyes wide. "Dude, what the—"
"What the fuck did you just say?" He leaned in so close his nose was touching Natsu's and he was growing cross-eyed as he looked back.
"Bro, back up. I don't want to kiss you—"
"Repeat what you just said. You said I told her I love her?"
"Yeah, so what?" Natsu shoved him back as Gray's eyes were widening and his hairline was starting to get wet with his sweat.
"When did I tell her I love her?"
"Lucy told me last night you were talking about how much you love Juvia in front of Juvia. I don't know, why don't you talk to Lucy or Juvia about it."
He fucking knew something happened and for something like this to slip out when he was drunk out of his mind made him realize that he's no better than Natsu. At least he didn't get hitched but god fucking damn it, he fucked up. He didn't mean to tell Juvia he loves her when he was blacked out drunk and he was hoping he could keep that to himself for a little longer.
Now he probably looked like a fucking asshole and a softie if he confessed his secret out loud like this.
"Who was—" Gray turned to see Natsu was not where he was standing just a second ago but instead all the way where Lucy was with the rest of the group. He was all bubbly and attached to the blonde who was giggling and peppering him with kisses. It made him frown till his eyes were glazing over to the rest of the group till he found the back of Juvia's head.
She was standing around with Erza, Mirajane, Jellal, and Evergreen in the middle of a conversation and he somewhat felt like what she had to say to him earlier may be related to his confession.
But why didn't she say anything to him all day? Or even Lucy knowing how cutthroat she is about their relationship, she hasn't even come over to make fun at him.
Was he being fucked with again? Is something going to happen? His eyes narrowed and he eyed everyone suspiciously, wondering if he had some big fat target on his back. He turned to check the back of his shirt to make sure and let out a small sigh of relief before they were calling him over.
Gray decided to push back his worries and go over to where they were, eyeing the large box full of explosives.
"Figured once the sun goes down we can start to set some off, would you like to light one, too?" Lucy asked as Gray stared down at the box to her face to everyone else. "And seeing how you aren't drunk like the rest of them," she motioned towards the others who reeked of alcohol. "Maybe you can be the one in charge."
"Fullbuster in charge? Please," Laxus scoffed while Gajeel snickered. "He doesn't even have the backbone to ask Juvia out."
Gray's face went flush as they laughed and he was scowling at the ground as Lucy handed him a firework.
"Don't mind them, they're just drunk," she whispered, sending him a wink.
He furrowed his brows at her, grasping onto the firework she just handed him. "Why are you so nice today?"
"I am always nice." She looked offended by his comment and he snorted. "Maybe it's because I'm a newlywed," she huffed, crossing her arms. "Shouldn't you be in a better mood, too?"
"Over it," he grumbled as they all began to collect the fireworks to try and bring it over and away from the pool and house. Everyone started to gather around and found themselves a nice seat as Natsu tried to start a fire with the help of Erza.
Gray felt lost in a way, almost as if his mind was far away. He felt like a fucking dick with how things were playing and he knew what he had to do. It seemed like everyone knew what he had to do but he didn't know why he had such a hard time getting it done. It's just a stupid fucking question and a stupid fucking title—Juvia knew she was his and he was hers so why did it matter? Titles made everything much harder. Commitment was hard but he was doing it… right? Even if he wasn't officially her boyfriend or she was his girlfriend, they were committed to one another.
The night was going in fast motion as he was disassociating the entire time and he was startled when a large bang erupted and a flash of color soon decorated the sky. He turned his head to see Natsu grinning like a manic with the empty firework in his hand, Lucy scolding him as Gajeel and Laxus were rummaging through the box.
The others were lounging around with drinks in their hands and the bonfire going as strong as ever.
He was pleasantly surprised to see Juvia come over to him with a smile on her face, her small delicate body coming over to sit beside him.
His heart raced inside of his chest as he remembered his conversation with Natsu and he wondered if Juvia could hear it. He could and he certainly was not good at hiding anything because he was beginning to sweat.
"You seem out of it." Juvia called him out and it made his entire body stiff. "Are you sure you're okay?"
What the fuck was he supposed to say to that? He felt as if his tongue grew double in size and he had a hard time swallowing. The first time he told her he loved her was by complete accident and the more he thought about it, the more he felt like a fucking dick.
She knows. She knows he loves her and he wasn't even consciously present to see or hear what she had to say.
"Juvia…" He started off, letting out a deep sigh as the soft chatter of their friends whispered in the night. "Why didn't you tell me what happened last night?"
He could see how Juvia stiffened and he ran a hand through his hair, frustration, embarrassment, and fear coursing through his body.
"Well… I didn't think you would remember and I just… didn't want to bring it up."
"You should have," he frowned, staring down at the ground. "I… I feel like a fucking asshole, Juvi."
"Oh, Gray," Juvia cooed as she placed a hand on his shoulder but he still didn't look at her.
The sounds of the fireworks continuing to pop off at random made them both jump but they didn't allow it to distract them from the moment.
"You don't deserve that. I—" he inhaled deeply to exhale. "I'm sorry."
"Gray," Juvia's voice pierced through his heart and he felt his entire body tingling. He felt her hand cup her face and when she turned his head to have him look at her, his breath hitched.
She was absolutely beautiful. With her pale face and blue hair, she was stunning with the flash of colors that exploded into the air. It made it almost painful to be looking at someone so bright and he just wanted to reach over and kiss her.
"You don't have to be sorry," she leaned in to press her forehead against his and he was trying his best to not blush. "It was nice to know what Gray finally thought and felt. Maybe I should get you drunk more often." She giggled and he scowled. "But… I wanted to let you know that I love you, too."
Gray felt as if someone had sucked all the air out of his lungs and sucker punched him right in the jaw. His eyes were wide as he stared at Juvia and his heart was definitely about to leap out of his throat any minute.
Someone… loves him? As in… loves him? Him? The fucked up child whose parents didn't even want and yet she loves him?
He knew he looked stupid at the moment but he didn't care. He was feeling incredibly warm and for some odd reason he wanted to cry. He wanted to curl up in her arms and have her hold him while he sobbed like a fucking baby because this woman loves him.
"Juvia," he twisted to face her, grabbing her by the shoulders. "I—"
"Natsu, no! That's for the—!" Lucy's shrill voice was cut off by the loud noise of the fireworks setting off. It startled everyone as the many fireworks exploded and judging by the size and extent of it going, that was supposed to be for the finale.
Looking up at the sky where multiple fireworks popped and sizzled into the night sky, everyone was cooing at the sight. Even Lucy and Natsu who had Lucy's hands wrapped around his throat had paused to take in the sight.
Ripping his attention away from the finale, he turned back to look at Juvia and he was stunned by her beauty once again. The way her long lashes fluttered and turned to look at him had his breath hitching and he felt the hot tears prick the corner of his eyes.
"I love you, Juvia."
Leaning in to brush her lips against his, he felt his entire world stop. "I love you, too… Gray."
