Chapter 48, Death EGG emerald, part 2.
Death EGG.
Espio was so close, the Chaos Emerald was right there in the Death EGG's generator, however, standing between him and the emerald was Mecha Sonic.
The dark blue robot watched Espio with it's red eye, trying to predict his next move, but Espio stayed perfectly still, not giving anything away.
Mecha Sonic seemed to grow bored with waiting and he rolled up into a ball and came at Espio, his blade like quills sounded like a buzz saw as they moved.
But Espio wasn't intimidated, he gracefully jumped over the spinning ball of blades and took this opportunity to run for the Chaos Emerald, Espio made it to the generator and reached for the emerald only to be stopped by a forcefield that was protecting the emerald.
Espio grunted in annoyance, he couldn't stay here, Mecha Sonic was already preparing another attack, Espio jumped into the air and threw a couple of shurikens at the robot, however, Mecha Sonic was built to a higher quality compared to most of Eggman's robots and the shurikens just bounced off.
Mecha Sonic jumped up and curled into a ball, he shot at Espio at high speed imitating Sonic's homing attack, Espio only barely ducked under the attack.
Espio pulled out one of his kunai and ran at Mecha Sonic, the blue robot raised its arms as a defence, but Espio wasn't aiming for the robot, Espio jumped over Mecha Sonic and plunged his kunai into the forcefield that was protecting the Chaos Emerald.
The forcefield sparked and spat electricity, but Espio wasn't able to get through, he was going to need more force, Espio looked over his shoulder and saw that Mecha Sonic was preparing another spin dash.
This time Espio didn't move, he stayed right where he was in front of the forcefield, the spinning ball of blades that was Mecha Sonic was getting closer, closer, and then at the last second Espio moved out of the way.
Mecha Sonic hit the forcefield at full force, there was sparks and flashes as the ball of blades spun around at high speed, and then the forcefield finally reached it's limit and there was a large explosion that lit up the room.
After a few seconds, Espio uncovered his eyes, the room looked mostly undamaged, but there was a few burn marks along the floor near the generator.
Espio quickly looked left and right for Mecha Sonic, he couldn't be sure that the robot had been destroyed, and there he was against one of the walls, Mecha Sonic had been blown apart by the blast, his legs and one of his arms was gone, despite this the robot was still trying to drag his way towards Espio.
But Espio didn't have time to waste with Mecha Sonic now, so he grabbed the now defenceless Chaos Emerald and quickly ran out of the room.
Espio had the get back to the others, so that they could get off of this space station.
Back with Tails, Shadow, and Rouge, the three was ready for battle, the door that Tails had sealed was about to give and they would soon be facing more robots than they could count.
There was another bang on the door, then another, and then the door finally burst open and the robots came charging in.
Shadow fired his chaos spears, Rouge threw her bombs, and Tails threw his dummy ring bombs, they quickly took out the first wave of robots, but there was more coming.
Shadow started to teleport around the room tearing the robots apart with punches and kicks, Rouge took to the air and continued to use her bombs, and Tails ducked behind the terminal and threw his dummy ring bombs whenever it was safe.
An EGG Pawn climbed over the pile of destroyed robots, only for a shuriken to came out of nowhere and slice through it's head, a second later, Espio appeared and jumped into the room.
"I've got the emerald" said Espio as he held the purple Chaos Emerald up for the others to see, "Then it's time to leave, get close to me" shouted Shadow as he took the emerald.
The other three gathered around Shadow as he raised the Chaos Emerald up, "CHAOS CONTROL" and the four disappeared just as another wave of robots arrived.
Resistance HQ.
The group appeared in the Resistance base right where they had left, their sudden appearance gave both Knuckles and Amy a fright, "What, you guy are back already" said a surprised Knuckles, "Of course we are, we don't waste time when we're on a mission" said Rouge with a wink.
Shadow walked away from the others, "Now we can destroy the Death EGG" he said as he looked at the two Chaos Emeralds that he was holding, "How are you going to do that, even without the emerald the Death EGG still has a lot of back up power" asked Tails.
Shadow picked up the case that contained the other Chaos Emeralds that the Resistance had, "Just watch" said Shadow with a slight smirk as he teleported away with the 5 Chaos Emeralds.
"Where do you think he went" asked Amy, just then the computors all started to get an emergency alert, "What's going on" asked Knuckles.
Tails ran to the nearest computor and started typing, "Our sensors just picked up a huge power reading, it's coming from... the Space Colony ARK, it's the Eclipse Cannon, it's been activated" he said, everyone in the room looked at each other, they was all thinking the same thing, Shadow.
The ARK.
Shadow was typing a few commands into the Eclipse Common's computor, with 5 Chaos Emeralds the cannon wouldn't be at full power, but it would be strong enough for this job.
With one last press of a button the Eclipse Cannon began to charge.
The ARK was pointing at the Death EGG, the Eclipse cannon was pulsing with energy, everyone in the Resistance base was watching with held breath, in G.U.N HQ Commander Tower was watching with a small smile.
The Eclipse cannon fired, the beam of energy flew across space and tore through on the Eggman's battleships that was in the way like a hot knife through butter, then the beam hit the Death EGG.
The Death EGG's shields held out for only a second before being overwhelmed, the beam ripped through the Death EGG, all around the space station there was explosions, and then a second later, the entire Death EGG blow up like a huge fireball.
Resistance HQ.
For a moment everyone stared at the screen in silence, then they all cheered.
"All right, the Death EGG is down" cheered Tails, "That's a huge step in ending this war" said Knuckles, "I can't believe it, I'm so happy" Amy cried in joy.
New Metropolis.
Eggman was sitting in his office, he had been watching the recent events ever since he received an alarm on his computor, the Doctor was staring silently at an image of space where the Death EGG was supposed to be, but all that was left there was some floating debris.
Orbot and Cubot was hovering on the other side of the room, the both of them was terrified at what they knew would soon be a tantrum from their creator, Orbot nervously floated towards Eggman's desk, "Dr Robotnik" he nervously asked.
But to their surprise Eggman didn't lash out, instead he spoke in a very calm voice, "Call all of my remaining forces and tell them to return to New Metropolis at once, we need to defend the city".
"Yes Sir" said Orbot as he headed towards the door, "And contact Infinite, I need everything we have" added Eggman.
