Chapter 5
Izuku's heart raced as he crawled through the narrow vent, the metal cool against his hands and knees. The shouting grew louder with each inch he moved forward, a sense of dread building in his chest. He couldn't shake the feeling that he knew that voice, but he couldn't quite place it.
As he reached a dead end, Izuku noticed another vent in the floor. He peered through the grate, his eyes widening as he took in the scene below. Two villains, different from the ones he had encountered earlier, stood in the room. One had a set of razor-sharp claws protruding from their fingertips, while the other had a pair of glowing, serpentine eyes that seemed to pierce through the darkness.
Izuku held his breath, terrified of making a sound that would alert the villains to his presence. He listened intently as they spoke to each other, their voices low and menacing. The angry voice from before continued to shout, cursing at the villains for ignoring it.
"Shut up, you brat!" the clawed villain snarled, their patience wearing thin. "Keep quiet, or I'll give you something to really scream about."
The other villain chuckled darkly, their eyes glinting with malice. "Let the kid wear himself out. It's not like he can do anything to stop us."
As the voice continued its tirade, Izuku's eyes widened in recognition. The words, the tone, the sheer fury behind each syllable—there was no mistaking it. The voice belonged to Katsuki Bakugo, his childhood friend turned bully.
Izuku's mind raced as he processed this new information. Kacchan was here, trapped just like him. Despite their tumultuous history, Izuku couldn't help but feel a pang of concern for his classmate.
"You think you're so tough?" Katsuki's voice rang out, defiance dripping from every word. "Wait until I get out of here. I'll show you what a real quirk can do!"
Izuku's heart pounded as Katsuki's tirade continued, his childhood friend's voice growing louder and more defiant with each passing second. The villains' patience was wearing thin, and Izuku knew he had to act fast before they decided to silence Katsuki permanently.
His mind raced as he tried to formulate a plan, his newfound powers thrumming beneath his skin. If he could just find a way to distract the villains long enough for Katsuki to break free, they might stand a chance. But how could he do that without revealing his presence and putting himself in danger?
Izuku's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of footsteps, and he watched in horror as the clawed villain began to move towards the source of Katsuki's voice. The villain's eyes gleamed with malice, and Izuku knew that they intended to make good on their threat.
Panic seized him, and he fought the urge to cry out, to warn Katsuki of the impending danger. But he knew that doing so would only put them both at risk. He had to think of something, and fast.
As the villain drew closer to Katsuki's location, Izuku's mind raced through a series of increasingly desperate plans. He could try to use his newfound powers to create a distraction, but he wasn't sure if he had enough control over them yet. He could try to find a way to alert the authorities, but he had no idea how long that would take or if they would even believe him.
Time was running out, and Izuku felt the weight of his own helplessness pressing down on him. He had always dreamed of being a hero, of saving people in need, but now that he was faced with a real crisis, he didn't know what to do.
Tears stung his eyes as he watched the villain's clawed hand reach out towards Katsuki's location, ready to strike. In that moment, Izuku knew that he had to act, even if it meant putting himself in danger. He couldn't let Katsuki suffer because of his own fear and indecision.
Izuku's heart pounded as he made a split-second decision. Burning steel, he Pushed against the vent with all his might, hoping to create a distraction and save Katsuki from the villains' wrath. The force of the Push launched Izuku into the ceiling of the vent, his head slamming against the metal with a resounding thud.
Dazed but determined, Izuku struggled to knock the grate out, his hands fumbling in the cramped space. He Pushed harder, the fire in his stomach flaring as he drew upon his newfound strength. With a final, desperate shove, the grate went flying, clattering to the ground below.
Izuku stopped burning steel, his body plummeting through the newly created hole. Instinctively, he reached out, grabbing onto the edge of the vent to stop his fall. His arms screamed in protest as he dangled precariously, his feet mere inches from the ground.
Looking up, Izuku found himself face-to-face with the wide-eyed villains, their expressions a mix of shock and anger. The clawed villain's hand was still outstretched towards Katsuki's location, frozen in mid-strike.
Izuku's heart raced as he realized the gravity of his situation. He had succeeded in creating a distraction, but now he was exposed, vulnerable, and at the mercy of the very villains he had hoped to outsmart. Fear gripped him, his body trembling as he hung suspended in the air, unable to move or speak.
Izuku's heart pounded as he dangled from the vent, his arms straining to hold his weight. The room fell silent for a brief moment, the villains staring at him in shock and disbelief. Then, the silence was shattered by a familiar voice.
"Deku!" Katsuki screamed, his voice a mix of anger and surprise. "What the fuck are you doing here, you quirkless loser?"
Izuku flinched at the harshness of Katsuki's words, but he couldn't focus on that now. The villains were already starting to recover from their initial shock, their expressions morphing into ones of rage and determination.
"You little shit," the clawed villain snarled, their eyes narrowing as they took a step towards Izuku. "You're going to regret interfering."
Izuku's mind raced as he tried to think of a way out of this situation. He knew he couldn't fight both villains on his own, especially not while dangling from a vent. But he also couldn't just leave Katsuki behind.
As if reading his thoughts, the other villain gestured towards Izuku, their serpentine eyes glinting in the dim light. "Grab the kid," they ordered, their voice cold and calculating. "We can't let him get away."
Izuku's heart skipped a beat as the clawed villain began to move towards him, their steps slow and deliberate. He knew he had to act fast, but his options were limited. He could try to pull himself back up into the vent, but that would leave Katsuki at the mercy of the villains. He could try to fight, but he wasn't sure if he could take on both villains at once.
Katsuki continued to scream obscenities, his voice growing louder and more desperate with each passing second. Izuku could hear the fear and anger in his childhood friend's voice, and it only strengthened his resolve to find a way out of this mess.
The clawed villain was getting closer now, their hand outstretched and ready to grab Izuku. Time seemed to slow down as Izuku's mind raced through a series of possibilities, each one more desperate than the last.
Izuku's mind raced as the clawed villain drew closer, their hand outstretched and ready to grab him. Desperate for a solution, he tried to think of a way out, but the more he overthought, the more his mind went blank. In a moment of panic, Izuku instinctively burned iron and steel, his senses suddenly flooded with blue lines leading to various metal objects in the room.
One line in particular caught his attention - the one leading to the vent he had just fallen from. Without thinking, Izuku Pulled on the vent with iron, ripping it from the floor and sending it hurtling towards him. As the vent flew through the air, Izuku Pushed against it with steel, redirecting its trajectory straight at the clawed villain.
The metal vent slammed into the surprised villain, knocking them off balance and sending them stumbling backward. The room fell silent for a brief moment, everyone staring at Izuku in shock and disbelief.
Katsuki was the first to break the silence, his voice cutting through the air like a knife. "Deku, when did you get a quirk, you bastard!?" he yelled, his eyes wide with a mix of anger and confusion.
Before anyone could respond, Katsuki activated his quirk, explosions erupting from his palms as he blasted the bonds that held him. Free from his restraints, he launched himself at the clawed villain, screaming that when he was done with these villains, he was going to beat the answer out of Deku.
Izuku's mind raced as he watched Katsuki charge at the clawed villain, explosions erupting from his palms. The serpentine-eyed villain turned their attention to Izuku, a malicious grin spreading across their face.
"Looks like the little hero wants to play," they taunted, taking a step towards Izuku.
Izuku's heart pounded in his chest as he scrambled to his feet, his newfound powers thrumming beneath his skin. He burned steel, Pushing against the metal objects in the room to keep his distance from the approaching villain.
The villain's eyes glowed an eerie green as they focused on Izuku, their gaze seeming to pierce through him. Izuku felt a strange sensation wash over him, his limbs growing heavy and his mind clouding with confusion. He shook his head, trying to clear the fog, but the villain's quirk held him in its grasp.
Across the room, Katsuki battled the clawed villain, his explosions echoing off the walls. He dodged and weaved, using his quirk to keep his opponent at bay. The clawed villain swiped at him, their razor-sharp talons slicing through the air with deadly precision.
Izuku struggled against the serpentine-eyed villain's quirk, his movements sluggish and uncoordinated. He burned iron, Pulling on the metal objects around him in an attempt to disrupt the villain's focus. The villain stumbled, their concentration broken for a moment, and Izuku seized the opportunity.
He Pushed against a metal pipe, launching himself towards the villain. The impact sent them both tumbling to the ground, Izuku's weight pinning the villain beneath him. He raised his fist, ready to strike, but the villain's eyes flashed once more, and Izuku felt his strength drain away.
The villain shoved Izuku off, their quirk holding him in place as they stood. They loomed over him, their eyes glinting with malice.
"Not bad for a little hero," they sneered, "but not good enough."
Izuku's heart raced as he struggled against the villain's quirk, his mind desperately searching for a way out. He could hear Katsuki's explosions growing louder, the clawed villain's snarls of pain and frustration mixing with the sound of shattering glass and splintering wood.
The serpentine-eyed villain raised their hand, their fingers curling into a fist. Izuku braced himself for the blow, his eyes squeezing shut as he waited for the impact. But it never came.
A sudden explosion rocked the room, and Izuku's eyes flew open just in time to see Katsuki slamming into the serpentine-eyed villain, a string of profanities spewing from his mouth. The force of the impact sent both Katsuki and the villain crashing into the far wall, the sound of cracking plaster and shattering glass filling the air.
Izuku sat there, frozen in place, his heart pounding in his chest as he watched the scene unfold before him. The clawed villain lay unconscious on the other side of the room, their body twisted at an unnatural angle. Katsuki stood over the serpentine-eyed villain, his hands smoking and his eyes blazing with fury.
"You think you can mess with me, you fucking bastard?" Katsuki snarled, his voice dripping with venom. "I'll show you what happens when you fuck with Katsuki Bakugo!"
Izuku's mind raced as he tried to process everything that had just happened. The villains, the fight, his newfound powers - it was all too much for his ten-year-old mind to handle. He felt like he was in a dream, a nightmare that he couldn't wake up from.
Katsuki turned to face Izuku, his eyes narrowing as he took in the sight of his childhood friend sitting there, wide-eyed and trembling. "What the fuck are you doing here, Deku?" he growled, his voice low and menacing. "And what the hell was that shit you just pulled?"
Izuku opened his mouth to respond, but no words came out. He felt like he was going to be sick, his stomach churning with a mix of fear and adrenaline. He had never seen Katsuki like this before, so angry and violent. It scared him more than the villains ever could.
Katsuki took a step towards Izuku, his fists clenched at his sides. "Answer me, you fucking nerd!" he shouted, his voice echoing off the walls of the room.
But Izuku couldn't answer. He couldn't even move. He sat there, frozen in place, his mind reeling from the events of the past few minutes. He knew that he should say something, do something, but he couldn't. He was just a kid, a scared, confused kid who had no idea what was happening or what to do next.
Izuku sat there, his mind reeling from the events that had just transpired. Katsuki stood over him, his eyes blazing with anger and confusion as he opened his mouth to question Izuku further. But before he could get a word out, the sound of alarmed voices echoed from the hallway, growing louder with each passing second.
Katsuki's head snapped towards the door, his body tensing as he realized that more villains were likely on their way. He cursed under his breath, his words barely audible over the pounding of Izuku's heart. "Damn it, Deku," he growled, turning back to face Izuku. "I can't believe I have to save your useless nerd ass."
Without warning, Katsuki reached down and grabbed Izuku by the collar of his shirt, hauling him to his feet. Izuku stumbled, his legs weak and shaky from the adrenaline that still coursed through his veins. Katsuki dragged him towards the vent, his grip tight and unyielding.
Izuku's mind raced as he tried to process what was happening. He knew that they needed to escape, to get as far away from the villains as possible. But his body wouldn't cooperate, his limbs heavy and unresponsive.
It was only when Katsuki tried to shove him into the vent that Izuku snapped out of his funk. With a sudden burst of strength, he pulled on the metal in the vent, using his newfound powers to lift himself up and into the cramped space. Katsuki let out a surprised yelp as Izuku dragged him along, his grip on Izuku's shirt never loosening.
Together, they crawled through the vent, their breathing heavy and labored in the confined space. Izuku's heart pounded in his chest as he tried to focus on the task at hand, his mind still reeling from the events of the past few minutes.
Izuku emerged from the vent, his heart pounding in his chest as he gulped down lungfuls of air. The adrenaline coursed through his veins, making his hands shake and his knees weak. He couldn't believe what had just happened - the villains, the fight, his newfound powers. It was all too much for his young mind to process.
As he sat there on the cold tile floor of the restroom, Izuku's thoughts raced. He had always dreamed of having a Quirk, of being a hero like All Might. But now that he had one, he didn't know what to do with it. He had never felt so powerful, so alive, but at the same time, he had never been so scared.
Izuku's mind flashed back to the moment when he had used his powers to pull Katsuki into the vent. He had acted on instinct, his body moving before his mind could catch up. He had never imagined that he would be able to do something like that, to control metal with his mind. It was both exhilarating and terrifying.
As Izuku sat there, lost in his thoughts, Katsuki climbed to his feet. He turned to face Izuku, his eyes narrowed and his face set in a scowl. "You have some explaining to do," he said, his voice low and menacing.
Izuku's heart skipped a beat as he looked up at Katsuki. He knew that he owed his childhood friend an explanation, but he didn't know where to start. How could he explain something that he didn't fully understand himself?
Izuku opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. He felt like he was drowning in his own thoughts, his mind racing with questions and fears. What did this mean for his future? Would he be able to become a hero now that he had a Quirk? And what would happen if the villains found out about his powers?
As Izuku sat there, his mind reeling with uncertainty, Katsuki stood over him, waiting for an answer. The tension in the air was palpable, the silence broken only by the sound of their breathing and the distant echoes of the villains' voices.
