KHR: Children of the Sky

Target 1: Reunion

"But the thing is, are we going to kill anyone?" A girl with long black hair asked, throwing some knives at the wall with a dart chart. "I don't understand why we should let them live."

A group of five teenagers sat in a waiting room, looking bored or sick. The group consisted of two girls and three boys. They were all wearing similar outfits and looked very professional as if they were a part of a group or gang.

"Calm down, Killer." The boy dressed in a blue vest walked over to the sassy girl, his dark brown hair covering one eye. "Those assholes threatened our boss."

"We need to get information from them." The blonde who stood in the corner spoke up. "Then we can kill them."

On the other couch, a small boy held his mouth and began to look pale. The light brown-haired girl held him close, trying to comfort him. "Guys, I don't think we should be talking like this for the young master's sake."

"It's fine." The small boy spoke. "Whatever Kiyomi-nee wants, we should do. She's our boss after all." Removing his hand from his mouth, he turned around to look at the door.

The door opened and a boy with dark brown hair and brown eyes entered the room, his outfit similar to the other five but red. With a grin, he moved to a side and let the girl with long honey-colored hair enter the room. Her chocolate brown eyes shined with determination.

"Alright, everyone. " She spoke up, smiling at her friends. "I, Kiyomi Sawada, will commence this mission. Let's go!"

"Yeah!"

One Year Before:

In the small Japanese town, Namimori, a middle school girl was brushing her long, honey-brown hair. Already wearing her Namimori middle school uniform, she tied her hair in a half-up ponytail. Seeing the time on the clock, the girl grabbed her bag and walked out the door.

"Oh, I almost forgot!" She giggled as she walked back inside and grabbed the red armband that reads "Disciplinary Committee" in kanji symbols. "And I'm ready." She smiled as she slipped it over her left sweater sleeve.

Walking down the stairs, the honey-haired girl walked down and greeted her grandparents. She walked over to her grandfather and kissed his cheek then moved to her grandmother to give her a hug. "Morning, Grandpa, Grandma~!" She giggled as she went to the fridge to grab the orange juice.

"Morning, Kiyomi." Iemitsu smiled at the young girl. This man is now retired from his old job as the boss of the Vongola CEDEF and living a peaceful life with his wife and granddaughter.

"Morning, Kiyo-chan~!" Nana smiled as she flipped the pancake. "Today we have pancakes and bacon for breakfast~!" Since her husband and granddaughter came back from Italy, she has been happy to have a lively household again.

"Really? Yay! I love you, Grandma~!" Kiyomi giggled as she put the juice on the table.

"You're early today, Kiyomi." The only man in the room pondered. "Is there an event today?"

"Huh? Oh, no." She giggled. "Today, I have to meet with Kyoya-sensei before I go to school."

"You should be calling him, 'Hibari-sensei', right?" Nana asked as she placed a plate in front of her husband. "Calling him by his first name seems a bit rude, Kiyo-chan."

"I did in the beginning and then he would always glare at me. Dino-san told me to just call him 'Sensei' and Kyoya-sensei told me to use his first name since he has three kids." Kiyomi said as she took the paper from her grandfather, who started to eat.

"Hm, well, as long as he's fine with it." Iemitsu chuckled before he took a bite. "Are you training after school or do you have a meeting?"

"I talked with Natsuki yesterday and we don't have a meeting today. As for training, I have to talk to Sensei." Kiyomi sighed as her grandmother gave her her own plate of pancakes. "Thanks, Grandma." She took a bite and blinked when she heard someone coming down the stairs. "Huh?"

Running down the stairs, a grown I-Pin runs into the room. "Ah no! I'm going to be late!" She ran into the room and took a slice of bread.

"Morning, Penny." Kiyomi waved and the woman almost choked on her food. "It's seven so you should be fine on time."

"Yes, but I need to meet with the agency's boss to see if you have work today." I-Pin cried. "Not to mention that last week's photoshoot went so well that they want you to work during your school hours. I cannot accept that type of treatment. Your school hours are important."

"Thank you, Penny." Kiyomi smiled as she ate her bacon. Since she was little, Kiyomi had trouble saying I-Pin's name with '-neesan' so she ended up calling her Penny, Pin-nee.

"Being a model is hard work for you. Are you sure you're okay with this type of career, Kiyo-chan?" Nana asked as she sat down with her own plate.

"Yeah, it's fun for me too." Kiyomi smiled. Yes, Kiyomi worked part-time, with her grandparent's permission, as a model for a small agency in Namimori with I-Pin as her manager. The idea was for her to have more connections with other people and work to earn her own money for clothes, sweets, etc.

"Also, Kiyomi-chan!" I-Pin looked at her student. "When you get out of school, please go to the airport. Haru-san should be landing at that time."

"Mama Haru is coming back to Japan?" Kiyomi asked but the Chinese woman had taken off. "Oh, I wonder if Papa is coming too."

"If he is, let's treat him well." Nana smiled and then looked at the shrine of a certain honey-blonded woman. "Tsu-kun has barely gone back to his old ways."

"Thanks to that Haru girl, Tsuna is finally smiling again." Iemitsu smiled and then looked at his cellphone. "It's almost time for you to go, Kiyo-chan."

"Okay, I'll get going now." Kiyomi finished her juice and then kissed her grandparents again before walking out of the house. Looking at her clock, she smiled. "I'll make if I run." She chuckled as she took off in a sprint.

"It's hard to believe that she's my no-good son's daughter. She's the complete opposite from him." Nana smiled as she sat down to eat herself.

"Well, he's not really 'no-good' anymore." Iemtesu sighed as he looked over at the picture of the late mother. "I wonder what you would have done if you were still here, Kyoko Sawada."

Waiting outside of the shrine temple, a girl with long black hair swayed in the wind. She was dressed as a miko and swept the grounds. Once she heard faint footsteps that were getting louder, the girl looked towards the stairs and smiled. She then turned around and walked away from the stairs, into a building next door.

Kiyomi reached the top, leaned against the pole, and sunk to her knees. "Ah, I made it!" She looked at her watch and smiled. "With five minutes to spare! Yay!"

"Good work."

"Huh?" Kiyomi looked up to see the girl with black hair handing her a water bottle. "Nat-chan! Thank you! You're a life-saver~!" She jumped and hugged the miko girl.

This girl is Natsuki Hibari, Kiyomi's closest friend. The two have known each other since Kiyomi moved to Japan. The girls got along easily and even trained together. However, Natsuki was a bit nervous since Kiyomi has yet to give her the Vongola cloud ring half. After all, Natsuki was her right-hand woman in their family.

"Yeah, just give me my ring and we'll be even, Kiyo." Natsuki joked.

Kiyomi smiled at her BFF. "You know I'm waiting. Sorry, it's taking so long but soon I'll hand them out to my family. For now, let's go. Your dad wants to see us."

Frowning, the Cloud only sighed. "Fine. I'll stop bugging you about it." She hugged the girl and pulled her to follow her into the secret entrance. "Time for us to go~!"

The two girls both were a part of the Vongola family and were in the top ranks. The area they entered that was hidden from the naked eye was the entrance to the Vongola's hidden underground base. The one in charge of the base was Kyoya Hibari, Natsuki's father. Entering from the shrine was one of the ways one could enter the base but there were a few other entrances, even one that was connected to Namimori Middle school.

Kiyomi walked down the Japanese-themed halls and was greeted by anyone who passed by her. Even Natsuki was popular there since she grew up there, but the Vongola Princess was more popular than her. After all, Kiyomi had a sweet and kind personality that one could never hate or be mad at.

"Morning, Princess! Natsuki-chan!" One worker waved.

"Good morning~!" Kiyomi waved, cutely. "Hope you all continue to work hard~!" The crowd cheered for her as if she was their idol.

"Hey!" Natsuki yelled at them all. "Stop being loud and annoying! Stop making Kiyo waste her time by greeting you all!"

"Sorry!" They all bowed.

"It's fine." Kiyomi giggled. "Nat-chan, I'm fine. Let's go." She waved at the men once more and continued to walk.

"Wao, that's a shock." Natsuki sighed. "Kiyo, you seriously shouldn't waste your time on them. We'll be running late if you greet them all."

"True." Kiyomi laughed, remembering that she ran over to the shrine."Well, it's fine. I'm here after all~!"

Natsuki only sighed. "I swear I have to be more strict on you as your right hand." She walked ahead and opened a door for Kiyomi that revealed an office.

Inside the office were three large computer monitors across the back wall and a desk in front of them, facing the door. Inside, a grown man with a black suit and short hair watched the monitors, watching all the data zooming past as he read them. Beside him was a man with the same attire but his hair was styled in an up-do.

Kiyomi entered the room and smiled. "Good morning, Hibari-sensei. Kusakabe-san." She bowed, receiving a nod from the man with an up-do, and then walked over to the man that ignored her. "May I ask why you have called me here, Hibari-sensei?"

The short-haired man glanced at the young Vongola and smirked. "A mission." Seeing her face stiffen, he continued. "You are to pick three herbivores to accompany you. The child is in charge of this mission."

"CHild… Reborn is coming? Is he coming with my father?" She asked, looking at Kusakabe for the answer. When he shook his head, Kiyomi nodded. "I see. He's coming on his own." She looked at Hibari who only stared at the monitors. She did the same. "So, when is the mission starting?"

"Tomorrow night." Kusakabe spoke up as Natsuki walked over to stand next to him. "Reborn is arriving tomorrow evening so please take the necessary actions."

"Understood." Kiyomi sighed. "Well then, is there anything else I must know?"

"The fox…" Hibari started, smirking again at the ear twitch from the Vongola girl, "he should be coming here soon."

Kiyomi, blushing, smiled. "I can't wait to see him~!"

"Morning!"

"Morning!" Kiyomi waved as she watched some students walk to the school building. "Ah, please fix your tie or take it off."

"Kiyomi!" Natsuki yelled, making the brunette jump. "Did you hear me?!"

"You're yelling at me so how can I ignore it?" Kiyomi joked. "I already have everything planned out, so don't worry."

Natsuki and Kiyomi were outside the middle school, in front of the school shoe lockers, with the rest of the disciplinary committee. So far it was two girls and one poor boy who had to deal with the yelling.

"Do you know who you're taking, Sawada?" The said boy asked. He had long hair that was cut to frame his face and dark red eyes. This was Rinto Mochida, Kensuke Mochida's only son and student to Takashi Yamamoto, Vongola Decimo's Rain Guardian.

Kiyomi looked at Rinto and smiled. "Yeah, I'm taking you and Nat-chan." She smiled as they entered the building, following the students inside. "Oh, yeah." She looked at some extras that were in the committee and smiled. "Make sure to punish the tarty students."

"Yes!" The two boys blushed as they gave her a salute.

"We're going with you?" Natsuki asked, following the Vongola as she turned to walk up the stairs. "That's just two out of the three. Who's the third one?"

"Is it Nishimura?" Rinto asked, curious about how Kiyomi was planning the mission. "I can't see anyone else going since you haven't decided on your guardians. Don't get me wrong, I'm down to go with you, but you only ever rely on Hibari and I."

"It's true. Nishimura has what it takes to be a great guardian seeing that his flames are really powerful and he's training under Uncle Tetsu." Natsuki smiled, thinking about the said boy. "I'm also sure he's a great person to add to your family, Kiyo."

"Eiji, huh?" Kiyomi closed her eyes and thought about it. "I have considered him as a part of the family. However, for this mission, I need someone else."

It was true that the boy was powerful. After being found by the Foundation, he trained under Tetsuya Kusakabe and is now known as a mid-top rank member of the Foundation. Not to mention, that the boy was very nice and loyal to Kyoya, in anyone's eyes, he would be a great follower.

"Huh?" Natsuki blinked. "What do you mean?"

"You don't want Nishimura?" Rinto paused but grinned. "Oh shit."

"Don't make it sound weird, Rin." Kiyomi sighed and then felt a familiar flame. "No way…" She looked around trying to pinpoint where the presence was coming from. Ignoring her friends' words, Kiyomi turned around and walked past them down the stairs. However, she walked too fast and slipped.

Time slowed down for the girl. She could feel the rush of fear crawl up as gravity took over. However, she could catch herself. All she had to do was turn around, swiftly, and then gather her footing. But she felt him. Closing her eyes, Kiyomi let her body fall into someone's arms. Once she was safely in their arms, she looked to see the handsome face that saved her. His hair was short and combed nicely. His dark gray eyes showed her reflection and his embrace made her melt.

"Koe…" Kiyomi called out to him, reaching to touch his face. Smiling she wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him. "I missed you."

"I missed you too." The boy chuckled. "I didn't think you would fall for me as soon as I got here."

"Idiot," The Vongola giggled. "You have always had my heart. Since we met until forever."

Kotaro chuckled. "I see. I'm glad." He looked up to see the other two students, searching franticly for their missing president. "Sorry, but I'm using my flames to hide us. I don't want anyone to interrupt us."

"Perfect." Kiyomi pulled away from the hug and leaned in to kiss the teen boy. He was shocked at first, but he eventually went along with it.

Koe lowered the girl to be on her two feet so he could hold her properly. He did open his eyes to mentally laugh at the two students running off, in search of their boss. Unknown to them, he was making out with her so he let his flames disperse, allowing others to see them. However, since the halls were empty, they were alone.

Once they pulled away, the girl pulled out her necklace where she had both the Vongola Sky and Storm ring halves. Taking the storm ring off and placing it on the boy's finger, Kiyomi smiled at the boy.

"When did you get these?" Koe asked as he watched her put away her Sky ring under her uniform shirt. "Was it Takeo-nii?"

"Yeah, but I don't care about that." Kiyomi smiled as she held his hand, the one with the ring. "Koe, you're mine now~!"

"I always was." The older boy chuckled. "Kiyomi Sawada, my precious boss, I swear to protect you with my own life." He pulled her hand up and kissed it. "Thanks for waiting for me."

"I will always wait for you." Kiyomi smiled, feeling her own personal high. "I like you, Kotaro Miura."
