Hello! Thanks for all the follows and reviews for this story! It means a lot to me! Here's the next chapter~!
KHR: Children of the Sky
Target 3: Mission Start
It was midnight and all five teens were together. Koe, Natsuki, and Rin were wearing all-black outfits while Kiyomi and Eichi were wearing formal clothes. They were at the Vongola base, discussing the plan.
"Okay, the plan is simple," Eichi spoke up as he sat in Kiyomi's desk chair. "Kiyomi has to attend this party as a Vongola representative and I'll go as her date. Then I'll have Rin and Natsuki escort Miura-san to their base and sneak into the main office to get into their computers. We need to get their files and see where they have the children hidden so that we can rescue them."
"And why are you going to the party with Kiyomi?" Koe asked, smirking.
"Hey! Don't question him!" Natsuki growled.
"I can't ask questions?" The Storm glared at the girl, making her flinch. "Also, I know that I'm going to be escorted but I think if we have too many people it would cause us to gain attention."
"He's right." Kiyomi nodded, shocking everyone but Koe. "It's best if Rin and Natsuki distract the guards so that Koe can enter and hack."
"That's what I was thinking." Koe sighed. "Seeing that Kiyomi and I can hack, I'm kind of confused why you have us separated when we could work together."
"I need Kiyomi to help me stall for time if needed," Eichi spoke up. "I agree that having you all separate is a good idea, but Rin and Natsuki can't stall for too long or they might get captured, or even worse, the enemy can call for backup. I know the risk of having a big group but I'm sure you can hide all three of you with your flames, Miura-san."
Koe smirked at the boy. /He's thinking of the safety of his friends. Too bad he only has Storm flames./ He then looked at Kiyomi. "So if the enemy calls for back-up, which are at the party, Kiyomi alone will fight them off?"
"Sounds like a big job for one girl." Kiyomi giggled.
"I will help as well." Eichi pointed out. "I have permission to use all of my flames for today's mission."
/Ah, good boy is a killjoy./ Koe smirked. "Gotcha. Then, what are the details of the mission? I need to know what I'm looking for while I hack."
Eiichi glared at Koe and nodded. "The Umberto Family are kidnapping potential children that have a high Lighting attribute. Most of the missing children are orphans so no one has done anything but recently an orphan with a high lighting attribute that Hibari-san was going to begin in was taken the day before. While looking for those kids, they noticed a pattern that had been going on for five years in that area."
"Lighting?" Natsuki blinked. "Why those flames?"
"Hardness," Rin commented, gaining attention. "Lighting flames are the toughest flame since they can be used defensively. Protecting one's safety by putting up shields or even using it as lighting. It's tough and unpredictable."
"Sounds like you have experience." Koe raised an eyebrow.
"Lambo-san would spar with me when he was in town," Rin told him. "I know a thing or two about these flames so trust me."
"Okay." Koe extended his knuckle and chuckled when Rin used his own knuckle to fist bump Koe. "However, why would they need those children but not have them on the front lines?"
"To train them to be their slaves, duh!" Natsuki slapped the fist bump away and glared at Rin and then Koe. "What else do they want those kids for but a body shield?"
Eichi looked at the ground. "That's true, but I don't think I've seen them push kids on the field. The youngest record we have is a twenty year old who joined at age eighteen."
"The Wild Hog." Kiyomi spoke up. "He's the strongest next to the boss of the Umberto family. He'll be at the party as well. Distracting both the boss and the Wild Hog isn't going to be easy."
Eichi looked at the ground and sighed. "I know but this is the best option for now." He spoke. "Will you believe in me, Sawada?"
"No, but it's out of my hands." Kiyomi giggled, making him worried. "However, as long as our mission is a success, I won't doubt you anymore." Her words made the boy hopeful, making Koe and Natsuki a bit annoyed.
Rin blinked. "Wait… Hardening… Children… missing…" He then shuddered at a dark thought. "Can I have permission to look underground?"
Koe blinked at Rin's words. "Um, why?"
"I just want to confirm something." He looked at Eichi. "Can I?"
"Yeah, if you really wish for it." Eihi nodded at Rin and then looked at the others. "Alright, let's start."
"Now entering from the Vongola family, the Vongola Princess, Kiyomi Sawada." The announcer spoke as Kiyomi entered the ballroom with Eiichi by her side. As she walked in, the guests were in awe of her beauty and grace. Some even commented that her beauty was shadowing her partner's presence.
Kiyomi walked in with a long white dress that was covered in gold embroidery and blue roses. Her hair was different from before and was curled to one side. Gold leaf pins were stuck in her hair with a blue rose.
"She's like an angel."
"She has her mother's genes."
"Her father must be so proud."
Kiyomi could hear their comments but was very annoyed. /These bastards… It's not like anyone knows the real story about Decimo's family./ She turned to look at a blushing Eiichi. "Nishima? Are you okay? This is your first time at one of these parties."
The boy looked away. "Yes, I'm fine. Don't worry." He could only rant in his head. /Man, I never thought that Sawada-san could be even more beautiful, but I was wrong. It's like a goddess is standing next to me! Thank God that I made those three go to the mansion! It's not selfishness either since Natsuki told me not to let Sawada-san and Miura-san stay together./
Kiyomi blinked and then shrugged, uninterested. She spotted the Umberto Boss walking towards them and put on her fake smile. "Hello, Umberto Terzo. It's an honor to receive your invitation." She bowed a long with Eichi behind her.
"Young Vongola, it's a pleasure to have you attend. Although may I ask where your father is?" The grown man asked. He was all suited to look rich and powerful, but what caught Kiyomi's eye was the boy behind him. He looked like a butler honestly and had short blue hair that was combed to a side.
Snapping out of her trace, Kiyomi smiled at the man. "I'm afraid I don't think he will be attending. Something came up at the last minute."
Eichi stayed quiet behind Kiyomi and noticed that the boy behind the boss was staring at him, making him look away. /Why is he looking at me?/
"I see, it can't be helped." The old man sighed. "I was going to introduce my adopted son, Henry Umberto." He smiled and let the boy from behind step forward.
/Adopted?! That wasn't in the folder!/ Eiichi gasped. /The Wild Hog is going to be the next boss?/ He looked at Kiyomi who only bowed.
"I see you gave him your family's name as his surname." Kiyomi bowed along with the bluehead. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Sir Umberto."
"Please call me, Henry. I'm not used to my new surname." He smiled, as he took her hand and kissed the back of it. "May I call you by your first name as well, Milady?"
/Ah… This is why Miura-san was worried about Kiyomi coming… They'll see this as a way to build a relationship since Decimo isn't here./ Eichi thought, watching Kiyomi smile. /I can't interfere since I'm just a servant. Crap, this is bad!/
"That's all the more reason for her to call you by your title."
The group looked over to see a tall boy with long chocolate brown hair walking forward. Wearing a suit and tie, he walked over and allowed his cape to flap in the wind. His chocolate eyes looked at the small girl and he waved at her to come to his side.
"Takeo-nii, I didn't know you were coming." Kiyomi smiled as she skipped to hug his arm. She looked at a defeated Eichi and hid her smirk. /Now you realize how useless you are. If Koe was here, him being my step-brother would have helped me out of that problem. However, you wanted to distance us for stupid jealousy./
"Of course, I came. My step-brother told me that you were attending with a servant." Takeo sighed and glared at the audience. "I need to keep vermin away from my baby sister and a servant has no power in this ballroom. You're too good for any of these losers. Isn't that right, Umberto Terzo?" He glared at the old man and made him shrink.
"O-Of course…! No one matches the Vongola Princess's beauty and grace." The old man smiled, nervously. "Come now, Henry."
The blue-haired boy only smiled at the girl and bowed. "Thank you." He whispered and then walked away.
"Looks like that Hog knows his place." Takeo sighed. "Kiyomi, come. I wish to dance."
"Of course, Brother." Kiyomi smiled and then looked at Eichi. "Nishimura-kun," she called, "remember for next time, you have no power here." She smiled and then joined her brother for the dance.
Eichi blinked at the scene and looked at the ground. /I don't have Kiyomi's Vongola Ring. If I did, I would be recognized as her guardian and meddled with that scene. I had to rely on Miura's secret meddling for this plan. Fuck!/
"Wait…" He muttered. "Miura told Sawada's brother to come here…? But I told him the plan at midnight. It's been almost an hour since then…" he paled. "Did he predict my plan and made another plan without telling me? Did… Did I fail?"
"Uh, what are you doing?" Koe asked as Natsuki held his hand. "You're covered in my flames, no one can see you."
"I can't see you." She told him, clearly annoyed.
"Really? I see him." Rin pointed out, making the girl angry and Koe sweat. "Huh?"
"You fucking bastard…" Natsuki growled.
"Listen, you're scary right now." Koe sighed. The three were at the mansion, slowly going to one entrance. Koe was using his mist flames to hide the three until they started their plan. "Listen, once we get closer to the entrance, I'll sneak in, Rin will go downstairs, and Hibari-kun can stay out here and cause a distraction. Remember to give me five minutes."
"Ugh, it would be better for me to follow you." Natsuki sighed.
"We all agreed that I would go solo." The Storm reminded her. "Follow orders, brat."
"Who the hell are you calling brat, you piece of shit?!" Natsuki yelled and got her mouth covered by Rin. "Hey! What are you-!"
"Shh, someone is coming," Rin told her.
"They can't see you but they can hear you if you're not careful." Koe reminded her. "Rin, leave her with me and go."
"What?! Who put you in charge?!" Natsuki whispered, angrily. "Rin, why do you want to go underground?"
"I think that this family might be using the kids to make lighting-flamed clothing," Rin explained. "Takashi-shiso told me that clothing made from lighting flames are very valuable and used a lot in mafia families." He looked at his own clothing and a painful expression could be seen. "Lambo-nii made these clothes I'm wearing. I've never gotten hurt with them on."
"Durable clothing for fights…" Koe smirked at the boy's knowledge. "Alright, go ahead. I'll give you some time before this place does to shit."
"Thanks." Rin nodded and then rushed off. Once he was out of sight, the guard that heard them came around the corner.
"Try not to get too loud," Koe told her as he pulled her into the shadows.
"Shut up, I know already." Natsuki sighed as she followed the boy.
Once they were out of sight and safe, Koe released his flames on Natsuki and looked at her. "Alright, now I'll head in and see what I can grab. Give me five minutes and stay in the shadows."
"Shut up already," Natsuki growled as she took out her weapon of choice, a halberd. Its design reminded the boy of a bat. "Go now."
"Wait, don't start yet!" He told her but she slammed her blade down to the ground and they traveled to destroy one side of a building. "You fucking…. Ugh!" He disappeared as she began to start fires.
Meanwhile, men gathered around Natsuki, hoping to capture her. However, it was pointless. After all, her flames and skills were above average. The only problem was that she thought everyone followed the rules.
"What?!" She gasped when all the men walked towards her threw her own and the wood flames. "They should have been burnt to nothing… Wait!"
"Takashi-shiso told me that clothing made from lighting flames are very valuable and used a lot in mafia families."
"This isn't good…" She started to wonder about her next step and started to fight a 1v. 3 all on her own. Soon, it was her against twelve men who were very powerful. "Crap… This isn't good… How long has it been since that trash rushed off?"
A sharp pain gazed at her arm and made her drop her weapon, letting it disappear in her flames. Then another man kicked her stomach, knocking her to the ground. Gasping for air, she could only inhale smoke and cough more.
"Dammit…" She muttered as she saw her vision darkening. "I can't die… Kiyo-chan… save me…"
Bam!
"Kya!" The girls screamed as they all huddled together in the corner of the basement. Inside, three girls and two boys were holding each other in the room that had no windows and only one door. At first glance, the door looked to be made of iron, but it was made from a rubber-like metal. There was no way out.
The oldest child hugged the other and looked at the ceiling, worried and confused. "What in the world is going on?" She asked as another explosion could be heard.
"Lina…" One of the children spoke up, gaining her attention. "Are we going to die?"
Lina looked at the room where there were fabrics and sewing supplies. They were finally done with their work for the day so they didn't have any flames to spare. Also, they were children. If they had to fight, they could easily be killed by the new foe.
"Lina…" Another child called to her. "Are they going to kill us?"
Feeling determined, the girl shook her head. "No, I won't let them." She got up and stood in between her and the children. "I will protect you four, no matter what. I swear upon the name of my grandfather."
