Return to Angel Island 1 & 2/4
Note: I've decided to got back into this story and add Ayla into it. But only as cameos. She'll get a bigger part in a future story. Along with a new character.

(Abigail's POV)
*It's been a day since we saved Tommy. Right now, me, Sonic, & Sally were in the throne room of Castle Acorn, getting lectured by Sally's Dad. Her Mom was also there*
King Nigel: Sally, while I understand that you had to save your childhood friend, that doesn't excuse going against orders and going on a mission without my consent.
Sonic: Uhh . . . Would you believe it was all Abby's and my idea, King Nigel? That we . . . er . . . Kidnapped her?
Abigail: Don't lump me in this!
King Nigel: No. *he turned back to Sally* How can your Mother and I trust you to help your brother rule the Kingdom while we're away if you insist on taking such risks?
*She held her arm as she looked away, ashamed*
Sally: I'm sorry . . . Daddy . . .
*The King's face changed from angry to sympathetic. Then he stepped down from his throne & put his hand to Sally's face*
King Nigel: Please understand. You may not be a child anymore, but you're still my daughter. Which means that your Mother and I will always worry about you, no matter one.
*Sally smiled*
Sally: Thank you, Daddy.
*They hugged*
King Nigel: But, unfortunately, there's still the matter of your punishment.
Sally: I understand.
King Nigel: Good. Since you managed to save Tommy and come back unharmed, it'll be two weeks grounding.
Sally: Yes, Daddy.
King Nigel: Good. You're all dismissed.
*We all bowed & left the throne room*
Sonic: Wow. And here I was expecting a big lecture.
Sally: Well, Daddy and Mother know that I can take care of myself. But still, from now on, we follow orders and inform our families of emergency missions before we leave.
Abigail: Unless that mission involves eating a mountain range of chili dogs.
*We all laughed*
*That afternoon, at the King Frederick Airfield, everyone from Knothole and New Mobotropolis had gathered to see off King Nigel, Queen Alicia, Uncle Chuck, & Antoine. Sonic, Ayla (his little sister) (look up "Ayla (Prime Zone)" by "SwanGirl24" on "DeviantArt"), Bernadette, & Jules were all hugging Uncle Chuck*
King Nigel: Ladies and gentlemen of the press, thank you for coming to bid Queen Alicia and I farewell on our extended tour of Mobius. Sir Charles Hedgehog will accompany us as science advisor, with his apprentice, Ben Muttski, as his assistant, and Lieutenant Antoine D'Coolette will command our Elite Guard.
Queen Alicia: Farewell, Acorn Kingdom!
King Nigel: Wish us luck!
*The plane took off*
*Later, the Freedom Fighters, Chaotix, Hope, & Lacey were all at Uncle Chuck's Diner, having lunch. Sonic & Sally were enjoying a root beer float together, each sipping out of a straw. Espio & Vector were having a glaring contest. Amy & Hope were cheering them on. As for me & Lacey, I was just enjoying a burger & sharing my fries with Huck & Lacey was enjoying a salad. Suddenly, someone from the Royal Guard ran into Diner*
Guard: Er . . . Sorry to interrupt, Your Highness, but we're receiving a garbled transmission on the Technolo-Tree. *he pointed at Knuckles* We think it's for him!
Knuckles: Me!?
*We all went to a hidden room in Knothole, with a telecommunications port that looked like a giant tree with multiple screens coming out of it. The big one had static on it. A voice came out, but it was as garbled at the screen*
?:*off-screen* Locke "SQWWKKK" held prisoner "SQWWKKK" Angel Island -
*Then the connection was cut off*
Knuckles: That does it! Nobody puts my old man on lockdown! I'm packing a bag for -
*Sally grabbed his arm*
Sally: Knuckles, wait! It could be a trap!
Abigail: Sally's right.
Knuckles: I'm out of patience, girls! It's time for me 'n' the Chaotix to save my Dad!
*The Chaotix all nodded in agreement*
Sonic: Count me in!
*Sally sighed*
Sally: Okay, but this isn't a mission to liberate Angel Island from Robotnik, merely one to find and rescue your Father. Sonic -
Sonic: Don't worry, Sal. I'll be fine. I -
*She put a finger to his lips*
Sally: I was going to say that I expect a full report when you return, okay?
*Sonic smiled, nodded, & kissed her. Suddenly, Knuckles shoved Sonic*
Knuckles: Will you get a move on!?
*I giggled & turned to Sally*
Abigail: So why do you want me to go with them?
Sally: I need someone to keep an eye on Sonic and make sure he doesn't do anything reckless.
*I giggled again*
Abigail: Don't worry. I'll keep him out of trouble.
*That night, me, Huck, Sonic, & the Chaotix were in a plane on our way to Angel Island. Bunnie was flying us*
Bunnie: Ah don't understand why Ah can't come along on the mission with y'all, Sugar-Hog . . .
Sonic: Come on, Bunnie. Sally needs to keep some muscle in Acorn Kingdom while I'm gone!
*Soon, we, except Bunnie, were parachuting down to Marble Garden, a garden on Angel Island. Huck & I were in awe of it's beauty*
Abigail: Wow! Your home is beautiful, Knuckles!
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
Knuckles: Thanks, Abby. But you haven't seen anything yet.
Mighty: Let's stand watch while True Blue and Rad Red bury their 'chutes.
Knuckles: Sonic, why don't you do some high-speed recon - *he yawned & zoomed off before he could finish. I face-palmed* - and tell us what you -
*He soon came back*
Sonic: Found something and it sure ain't pretty!
*We all followed him to a nearby hill & what we saw on the other side, was a shock. It looked like a prisoner camp with echidnas as prisoners & dingos as guards. The echidnas all looked weak & exhausted*
Knuckles: An Eggman sponsored echidna prisoner camp run by teched-out dingos!
Abigail: How awful.
Huckleberry: Chao . . .
Sonic: Yep! I say we do it to it!
*I was the only one who knew what he meant*
Ray: Do . . . What . . .?
*I ran ahead of everyone*
Abigail: He means CHARGE!
Huckleberry: CHAO!
*Everyone followed me as we ran towards the camp. One of the dingo soldiers noticed us*
Dingo Soldier #1: Colonel . . .
Dingo Colonel: What is it?
*Mighty broke through the fence with his bare hands*
Mighty: You're under attack, good balls!
*Sonic sped through the soliders, taking away all their weapons.
Dingo Soldier #2: He's

Sonic: Just softening you creeps up for a Chaotix/Freedom - Style whuppin'. *I used my hook swords to trip up some of them & Huck flew around them, making them dizzy as they tried to catch him. Vector & Mighty teamed up. Julie-Su got them with her laser gun. Charmy & Saffron attacked with their stingers. Espio attacked with his weapons & tongue. And Ray lifted them up high & dropped them, knocking them out. Just then, Sonic saw Knuckles being attacked by a few dingos, so he zoomed in & knocked them all away from him* Knock it off!
*Soon, we had a whole pile of defeated dingos under us*
Vector: Where's the challenge, I ask?
Knuckles: I could've handled those dingos, y'know.
Sonic: You're welcome.
*Just then, all the imprisoned echidnas started bowing down to Knuckles*
Echidnas: Hail to the Avatar . . . For he has returned . . . *then they all surrounded him* Hail to the Avatar . . .
*Just then, Knuckles seemed to recognize one of the echidnas*
Knuckles: Oh . . . My . . . Gosh . . . *it was a brown male echidna with dark black/brown hair, blue eyes, peach skin wearing ragged clothes & shackles on his wrists* Remington!?
Remington: Avatar . . .?
Knuckles: Why is everyone calling me that?
Remington: Because it's true. Back when you came back from the afterlife in time to help defeat that menace from outer space . . . *I knew was talking about the Xorda* I thought you were an imposter. It wasn't until I visited your shrine at Sky Sanctuary with my echidna security team that I began to see the truth. But it was too late. That dingos had already sold us out in exchange for their own freedom, and Echidnaopolis soon came under attack from Robotnik's invasion force. I was captured and thrown into a dungeon where I was imprisoned for months beforehand I wound up here. Still, we knew you would return to free up, Avatar! We had faith!
*But Knuckles didn't look convinced*
Knuckles: Faith in what?
*Julie-Su hugged him*
Julie-Su: In the prophecy of Ancient Walkers. It states that, "A champion will bypass the afterlife and return hence to deliver the world from it's suffering . . ."
Knuckles: Remington . . . I think you guys have the wrong echidna.
*We all took the echidnas to the Lava Reef, following the signal of the distress call we got earlier today, hoping to get them to a safe place, away from the dingos. Espio helped one echidna lady, who was holding a baby, over a stream of lava. Mighty held on to Espio so he wouldn't fall in*
Mighty: I've gotcha, Espio.
Espio: Thanks, Mighty.
Knuckles: This where the Technolo-Tree's transmission originated.
Sonic: Why the heck would anybody want to set up shop on this side o' the island, Knux?
Abigail: Probably to keep looky-loos out.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Sonic: Good point.
Ray: Vector, couldn't whoever's holding Knuckles Dad prisoner have picked someplace less, y'know, scary?
Vector: Don't sweat it, Ray, us Chaotix have been in tougher - Hey! *suddenly, the fog around started to get really thick* Is it just me or did somebody just crank the smoke machine up to eleven?
Sonic: Vector's right!
Julie-Su: But how . . .
Abigail: Look! Something's coming towards us!
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
*Just then, we saw shadows coming towards us. soon, they were revealed to be echidnas wearing black cloaks, red masks, & had cyber implants on different parts of their bodies*
Knuckles: Well, if it isn't the Dark Legion . . .
Sonic: . . . Then I'm not fast cool or good looking! *they attacked us* Scatter everybody!
*He took a fire sword from one of the Legionnaires & used it to fight. I fought with him, using my hook swords. Suddenly, he charged towards another Legionnaire, also using a sword. Huck flew around multiple Legionnaires, making them dizzy. But when the swords clashed, they sent out a blast of flame, cancelling each other out. The force of the blade sent Sonic flying into a rock wall*
Abigail: Sonic!
Huckleberry: Chao!
*Suddenly, Knuckles flew in & punched that same Legionnaire in the face. He looked furious. Apparently, he really hated these people. The Chaotix were fighting them just as hard*
Mighty: How're you doing back there, Vector?
*He has a sword pointed at him*
Vector: The . . . Heat is on, Mighty!
Ray: Nyah-nyah!
Espio: Stop horsing around, Ray!
Ray: Sorry Espio! This is fun!
Julie-Su: Nice moves, Charmy!
Charmy: Thanks, Julie-Su!
*We all kept fighting until we all heard a shout*
?:*off-screen* EVERYBODY! PLEASE!
*We turned towards the shout & saw a red female echidna with several dreadlock-like spines around the front, sides, & back of her head that are cross-wrapped in white bands, green eyes, peach skin, & wearing a yellow peignoir dress. Next to her was a brown male echidna with purple eyes, peach skin, & wearing white-bordered black bands on his front dreadlocks, & wearing a brown tunic & a young red female echidna with green eyes, peach skin, & wearing white ribbons in her dreadlocks, light blue overalls over a yellow t-shirt, white socks, & green high-top sneakers (look up "Lina-Le the Echidna" by "SwanGirl24" on "DeviantArt")*
Lara-Le: Stop fighting! We're all on the same side!
Knuckles: M - Mom . . .?
Abigail:*in her mind* That's his Mom?
*The young female echidna ran up to Knuckles & hugged him*
Lina-Le: Knuckles! I've missed you, big brother!
Knuckles: Lina! Are you alright!?
Lina-Le: I'm fine. *she side-eyed the Dark Legion* Despite the company we've been keeping lately.
*Then his Mom hugged him*
Lara-Le: Knuckles! In so glad to see you!
*The male echidna kneeled down to Knuckles*
Wynmacher: Welcome, Avatar!
Knuckles: Ava - Wynmacher!
Lara-Le: Your Step-Father, sister, and I have missed you, son.
Knuckles: I missed you too, Mom, but why the heck are you guys hanging with the Dark Legion?
Lina-Le: It was Mom's idea.
Wynmacher: They are Angel Island's resistance against Robotnik and the Dingos, Avatar!
Knuckles: Get up off the ground, Wyn - and stop calling me that!
Wynmacher: Yes, Avatar . . .
Knuckles: Did you hear me?
Wynmacher: Yes, Avatar . . .
Knuckles: Huh.
Lara-Le: Come with us, son! Some of you look like you could use a good meal, some rest, . . . And a bath.
*It was true. Some of the echidnas we had saved smelled like they hadn't bathed in months*
*We took a Warp Ring to another part of the Island, the Hidden Palace Zone*
Knuckles: Sonic . . . I don't think we're in Knothole anymore!
*On the other side was a crowd of echidnas cheering "Avatar!"*
Sonic: Sheesh! I didn't get a reception like this when I came back from the dead.
Knuckles: Don't make me hurt you.
Abigail: Boys, please. Not in front of all these people.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Knuckles: Fine. Fine. But what are all these echidnas doing here?
?:*off-screen* Living in freedom now that the Dark Legion has liberated them from Robotnik's prison camps.
*We turned around & saw a white male echidna with black markings, peach skin, & yellow eyes with black sclera wearing purple glasses, a black cape, black gauntlets with gold Warp Rings, a black belt with an image of a crescent moon, & gray bandages on his hands & feet*
Sonic: Uhh . . . Who're you?
Dr. Finitevus: Call me . . . Doctor Finitevus. *I shivered. his voice reminded me of Mordred in a way. we all followed him into the camp* As you can see, this underground cavern in a sanctuary where our species can live without Dingo oppression. Follow me.
*We soon came to a castle on mountain with lots of stairs*
Sonic: Whoa! This spread is killer, dude!
Abigail: What . . . What is this place?
Huckleberry: Chao?
Lara-Le: We're in the Hidden Palace Zone, dear, and that's the Hidden Palace!
*We all climbed the stairs until we reached the doors to the palace, which was opened by the Legionnaires guarding it*
Dr. Finitevus: Enter. Milady . . . They have arrived.
*Standing in front of multiple screens was a red female echidna with peach skin, blue eyes, silver cybernetic enhancements, wearing a black leather uniform, & holding a whip*
Lien-Da: Oh. Comfort and joy.
Knuckles: Kommisar!
*She came up to him & put her hand on his chest*
Lien-Da: Why do formal, Knuckles? You can call me Lien-Da. Aren't we friends? *she looked at Julie-Su* And family? Right, Step-sister?
Julie-Su: Hmf.
Abigail:*whispering* Step-sister?
Sonic:*whispering* Yeah. Her Dad married 'Su's Mom.
*Knuckles turned to his Mom*
Knuckles: Mom, is this w twisted joke? We received a garbled message that Dad was being held here on the Island. Then we tracked the message's transmission, so where is Dad?
Lara-Le: Locke isn't here, son. That's why I contacted you.
Knuckles: You!?
Lien-Da: You but? After your Father was captured by the new dingo leader, General Kage, "Mommy dearest" here used our telecommunications port to breach Robotnik's jamming signal and get in touch with you. Frankly, I'm surprised you responded.
Knuckles: Where is the Master Emerald?
*The two of them glared at each other for a while*
Lien-Da: Sonic, Knuckles, *she pointed at me* and you, cat girl, with me. Everyone else, stay here.
*Me, Sonic, & Knuckles looked at each other in confusion. I gave Huck to Mighty as we followed Lien-Da down a hallway. As we went down the hallway, we passed a giant tapestry that showed a figure that looked like Sonic fighting against a figure that looked like Eggman. A green gem was in the middle of both of them*
Sonic: Whoa.
Abigail: Is that Sonic on that tapestry?
Knuckles: It's not him, and at the same time, it is him. *that left me pretty confused* That tapestry shows Super Sonic squaring off against Eggman. Question is: who weaved that tapestry?
Lien-Da: We don't know. This palace possibly thousands of years old. That old moth-eaten tapestry was here when the Dark Legion found the secret Ring Portal entrance ways leading to this place.
Knuckles: But the island is only . . .
*She opened two doors & a bright green light came out. Sonic & I covered our eyes*
Lien-Da: Enough of that mystery. For now, behold . . . *my eyes went wide when I saw a giant green gem standing on an alter* The Master Emerald!
Sonic: The only thing keeping Angel Island afloat!
Abigail: It's amazing!
Knuckles: How on Mobius did it end up in this underground shrine?
Lien-Da: When Robotnik's forces invaded Echidnaoplis, the Brotherhood of Guardians fought to ensure that the Emerald wouldn't fall into his clutches. They succeeded, but are still missing to this day. Thirty-six days ago, as the dingoes approached Haven, your Father, Locke, the Emerald's current Guardian, entrusted it's care to my Dark Legion, while he remained behind to face the enemy.
Knuckles: Your Dark Legion? What happened to Dimitri? Doesn't he run this outfit?
*Lien-Da took out her whip*
Lien-Da: My Great-Grandfather is no longer . . . With us. I'm in charge. At last.
Knuckles: Wait a -
*He fell to his knees & screamed*
Abigail & Sonic: Knux!?
*Lien-Da started to leave with a smirk as we knelt down to comfort him*
Lien-Da: What the matter, "Avatar?" Not feeling well?
Knuckles: P - Pain . . .
Lien-Da: Perhaps you're not as invincible as superstitious idiots outside believe you to be . . .
*I glared at her*
*Later, we were with the Chaotix around a campfire. Remington was also with us, inhaling a bowl of food*
Sonic: What happened, Knux? Why'd you get sick inside of the shrine?
Knuckles: The Goddess Aurora warned me there would be serious consequences if I chose to return from the afterlife. Instead of giving me energy like it did in the past, looks like the Master Emerald is sapping of what little I have and I can't do anything about it!
*Apparently, before Sonic was sent into space, he had lost his life during a battle when he had turned into Chaos Knuckles, but was brought back to life by the Echidna Goddess Aurora. Julie-Su kissed his head*
Julie-Su: I have faith in you, Knuckles!
*I took his hand*
Abigail: And so do I.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Mighty: I don't get it! Why are we sitting around moping when we should be out cracking more dingo skulls?
*Just then, Finitevus came up to us*
Dr. Finitevus: Our double agent has not yet contacted us. Once he does, we shall know where Kage and his ilk have imprisoned Locke . . .
*Then, an echidna couple came up to us. The male echidna was holding a little girl in his arms*
Meri-Ca: A - Avatar . . .?
Pollu: We're sorry. My name is Pollu. My wife, Meri-Ca and I are deeply spiritual people . . . And have always believed in the prophecy of the Ancient Walkers. During Robotnik's invasion our daughter, Desi-Ca . . . *Desi-Ca looked at us, showing her blank eyes, making me gasp in horror* Lost her sight in both eyes.
Meri-Ca: The Dark Legion offered to fashion cybernetic implants to restore her vision, but couldn't accept. Not when the prophecy states that the Avatar can perform miracles!
*Knuckles looked terrified. Suddenly, Finitevus turned to her, furious*
Dr. Finitevus: You were imbeciles to refuse our offer of science! That prophecy is no more than a cruel superstition! Tell me, where has your so-called 'Avatar' been this past year? Where was he while you were languishing in Robotnik's prison camp? Off playing errand-boy to the Kingdom of Acorn! He cared nothing about your welfare, yet you bow down before him, while thumbing your noses at your benefactors! Bah!
*I immediately got up & stood in front of her, protecting her from him*
Abigail: Hey! Leave her alone! She's just trying to save her daughter!
*Finitevus stared at me for a minute. Then he turned around, leaving in a huff*
Sonic: Sheesh! Somebody sure didn't need that extra cup of coffee this morning! Look . . . Uhh . . . Folks? The . . . Er . . . 'Avatar' . . . Could use a few minutes . . .
Knuckles: No! Pollu . . . Meri-Ca . . . Wait. I . . . I'm sorry, but I have the power to help you. I'm not the one the prophecy speaks of.
*Pollu & Meri-Ca left, looking devastated*
Knuckles: Yo, yo, hold up! How do we know that for sure?
Julie-Su: Because the prophecy of the Ancient Walkers is bunk, Vector! That's how! You heard Doctor Finitevus!
Vector: What a big surprise, Julie-Su! You agree with the Dark Legion!
*They got in each other's faces*
Julie-Su: What's that supposed to mean, suitcase face?
Vector: I'm saying it sure feels like ol' home week 'round here! Do I really need to read the fine print?
*I was about to break them up, but Knuckles beat me to it, by pushing them apart*
Knuckles: Cool it, you two! I'm sick and tired of the way this mission has been going! Ever since we arrived on Angel Island we've been hit with one surprise after another! Fascist dingos! Echidna prisoner camps! Ancient prophecies! Kommisar in control! Well, I've had it with surprises, people! I -
*Just then, his Mom & sister came up to us, Lina holding something*
Lara-Le: Knuckles . . .? Son . . .? There's someone I want you to meet.
*We all turned to her & our eyes went wide*
Knuckles: Mom . . .? Lina . . .? Who's this?
*She handed him a red baby boy echidna with blue eyes, peach skin, & wearing blue one piece pajamas, who started hitting him on the head with his rattle*
Lina-Le: It's our baby brother!
