Chapter 2: Two Worlds, Same Place
A/N: Before I start this chapter, I want to personally thank Stardown 77 for reviewing, following and favoriting this story. That really means a lot. And it is honestly an honor to have him reading this story. Once again he is a fabulous author and I highly recommend you go and check out his stories as they are phenomenal. This chapter will be short, but will mostly be a world building chapter in which it will go into more depth about Earth and Mobius being connected. Without further to do, let's get on with the chapter itself :D
It was the night of August 20, 2021 and Sonic and Tails were looking out the window of the garage of the Thorndyke estate. It was just almost 24 hours since they arrived on Earth alongside their friends, Dr Eggman, and his robots. They well… particularly Sonic had gone through a whole ordeal ever since arriving on this new strange planet. From being chased by formula one race cars, to breaking into a top secret military base, to even fighting a literal war machine. But here they were observing the night sky while keeping a low profile as they both knew the authorities were out for them just because they were different. It was pretty nice tonight with the nice scent of cool fresh night air, the distant sound of traffic, and how there were almost no clouds in the sky.
While looking up at the night sky and admiring the beauty of the Moon and the stars in the sky. Tails noticed something… strange about the night sky and he decided to point this out. "Y'know Sonic, I think I just realized something" Tails said, getting Sonic's attention. "The Moon and the stars look identical to how they did back on Mobius. Right down to the individual constellations. Like I can recognize Orion, the Winter Triangle, and even the Summer Triangle as well" Tails explained.
"Y'know what Tails, when I first arrived on this planet I too realized the same exact thing. I think you might actually be onto something" Sonic said. "Yeah but that's not all. You see Chuck let me browse the internet from his computer to learn more about Earth through a website called Wikipedia which is similar to Mobopedia back home. And I found out that Earth and Mobius share the same coordinates and solar system right down to the individual planets and moons. Heck even the asteroid belt is there" Tails explained. "You mean…." "Yes, Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars along with all the other planets including Pluto exist in this solar system just like they do back in Mobius's solar system. Which can only mean that… Earth and Mobius are the same planet in mirrored universes" Tails said as Sonic now looked deep in thought.
"You know Tails…" Sonic began processing everything he just heard. "I know I probably said this already but I don't mind repeating myself. You are not too far off. Remember we are in a city called Station Square which is very similar to the Station Square back home albeit without key landmarks like the train station or the amusement park. Also GUN is here too and they act the same they did back on Mobius. Plus from what I've observed of this country we are in, the United States is very similar to the United Federation from the politics right down to the infrastructure. Perhaps this world has a place similar to Chun-Nan, Westopolis, or heck maybe even Angel Island. Who knows?" Sonic said.
"Yeah… the more I think about it, the more I wonder if Earth and Mobius are actually parallel worlds or something, or perhaps they are mirrored versions of the same world. I mean counting all these similarities it is all too much to be a mere coincidence. Think of it like this… Earth is basically Mobius but without all the crazy elements like ghosts, naturally forming loop-dee-loops, and magical gemstones and with just humans and no Mobians. Also it is way less advanced than Mobius as when GUN showed up I didn't see them using their robots. Bo Gun Beetles, no Laser Hunters. None of that" Tails explained.
"You… are actually pretty accurate with that statement as after everything we've talked about so far I can't help but think the same exact thing like it's almost as if we've technically never left Mobius" Sonic said.
"Also remember that back home Mobius is sometimes called Earth mostly by the humans though. But it was mostly during the Middle Ages and nowadays, they rarely call it Earth. In fact the last time I recall them using that name was Eggman who used it in his Moon explosion speech in 2001 during the whole Shadow incident" Tails said. "Yeah… I totally forgot about that" Sonic replied.
"But hey, who knows what else we'll discover here on Earth. I mean once we are done kicking Egghead's butt like usual. We can look more into this" Sonic said before looking deep in thought. "I just can't help but wonder if there is more at play here… perhaps the Chaos Emeralds have something to do with this universe being connected to our universe. Or maybe… eh I am probably overthinking this. What matters is that we are here now and I believe someday we'll find a way back to Mobius" Sonic said.
"You're right" Tails said as the two both continued to embrace this moment, looking up at the night time sky. Perhaps Earth wouldn't be so bad after all. Tails thought.
A/N: Once again sorry if this chapter was short, I was just too excited to upload it. I always wanted to explore the connection between Earth and Mobius and also I always thought the real world planets existed in the Sonic universe. Like if the Moon and the stars do then it would only make sense for the planets to exist as well.
But don't worry, I will take more time with future chapters as I have exciting plans for this story.
