It's one of those days - one wants to do nothing but relax. Today is the day Michael Knight has been looking forward to. A day when there are no life-threatening situations, no people to save, and no injuries to heal.
Even KITT, Michael's fully sentient computer partner inside a Trans AM, looks forward to this day. No worries about supplying the latest data to his human partner, no having to save Michael from certain death, and no danger to himself. It's a day when the computer can be free from the burden thrust upon him years ago that he happily accepts as long as Michael is in his life.
It's autumn, and the leaves are now yellows, oranges, and reds. The changing of the leaves is a reminder that the days are shorter, cooler, and the first flakes of winter will soon appear. The scent of pumpkin spice is in the air as the duo approaches a Farmer's Market at the side of the road. Michael turns the car off the road and parks it near a pile of pumpkins.
KITT's Olfactory Sensor picks up various scents of pumpkin, apple, and bumbleberry pies and stores them in his data banks. Normally, the scents mean nothing to the computer, but he wants to store them for Michael. KITT recalls all the stories Michael told him over the years when his mother baked pies during Thanksgiving.
Michael exits the car and gives it an affectionate pat on the roof as KITT responds with a flash of his Anamorphic Equalizer in appreciation. No words are needed between the pair. The bond between them is one of trust and love. Michael walks over to the various vendors - many of them have food items such as homemade pies, a variety of breads, jams, fruits, and vegetables. So many choices. He decides to buy a pumpkin pie for his family back at FLAG's HQ. Devon, Bonnie, and RC. Michael is about to leave when he spots some old tape cassettes inside a cardboard box a vendor is selling.
Curious about what he will find, Michael searches through the cassettes one by one until there's one particular cassette that catches his eye. Perfect! Buying the cassette, he asks the vendor for a bag. Bringing the pie and the bag back to KITT, he entered the car and carefully placed the items on the passenger seat.
"No peeking, Pal," Michael said with a laugh when he heard the scanner whoosh in front.
"Who me, Michael? Now, why would I peek?" KITT responds with a slight huff of disapproval. It doesn't last long when Michael gives him a loving pat on the steering wheel.
"To make sure it's safe. You always look after me, KITT. That's why," Michael replies amused. "I have a surprise for you, Buddy."
KITT's circuits charge slightly in both anticipation and curiosity. "Oh? As long as it's not one of those pine-scented fresheners people hang on their rear view mirrors."
"Nope." Michael removes the cassette from the bag and pops it into KITT's tape player. The music of Vivaldi's Flute Concertos fills the cabin.
"MICHAEL! I'm..." KITT stops abruptly.
Michael leans back in the driver's seat, grinning at his partner's abrupt silence. "Surprised?"
"Speechless, and I might add, very happy. Vivaldi is one of my favorite composers. Thank you!" KITT's indicators start flashing to the sound of the flute.
The duo head toward HQ with the smell of pumpkin pie inside the cabin, and a delighted KITT humming to the music.
