Costume Making Part 3

"Mom," Kimi called as she fussed with her wig. "I can't get this stupid wig to sit right!"

Chuckie was putting the head of his costume on, it was a lion's head shape with a hole for his face.

Kira came into the room and with a little adjusting got the wig on perfectly.

"Now don't mess with it again or it won't stay put," Kira said, she stood back and looked at both of them. "you guys look great."

"Are you sure nobody will laugh at me?" Chuckie asked nervously.

"Of course not," Kimi said. "everyone will be wearing costumes, it'll be lots of fun."

"Thanks, Sis." Chuckie said.

"Anytime, Bro." Kimi said to Chuckie.

"I think this group costume idea is really going to work!" Chas said, sitting down on the couch. "it'll really haul in the candy!"

"Yeah," Kimi said. "if we can avoid Timmy McNulty and his brothers, last year, those bullies were camped at the end of the street making all the trick-or-treaters hand over half of their candy to avoid getting egged."

"Yeah I remember," Chuckie said, shivering. "thank goodness Tommy's dad showed up before anything could happen."

"Well I have good news about that," Chas said. "Tommy's dad spoke to several of the parents in the neighborhood, and they agreed to keep a sharp lookout for those boys this year, so with any luck they won't be able to do that again."

"Good," Kimi said. "I really don't want to have eggs thrown at me!"

"I don't think any of us do," Chas replied, then he changed the subject. "hey, Kimi, since you're our Dorothy, why don't you sing a few lines of Somewhere over the Rainbow?"

"No, no, no," Kimi said, shaking her head. "I'm not a singer like Susie!"

"Don't sell yourself short, Sis," Chuckie said. "you are too a good singer! You can do it!"

"Okay," Kimi said, blushing a little. "I'll give it a try."

"Try singing in Japanese, Kimi-chan." Kira said.

Kimi cleared her throat and began to sing.

Niji o koete;

Doshite, doshite, watashi wa dekinai no?

That was when Charles checked his watch, "Gosh, look at the time, it's time for bed! You and Chuckie have school in the morning!" he exclaimed.

Kimi and Chuckie went straight to their bedrooms to get ready for bed.
