Prologue:

Dreaming Your Life Away

Being forgotten, waiting in limbo, being remembered, coming back and claiming more sleeping souls, rinse and repeat. It seemed this cycle would go on forever. No matter how much time went by somebody would always remember and spread the word of Freddy Krueger and then he would get to come back for more fun. But as time went on the time in between the fun got longer and longer. Freddy would seethe, grow angry, frustrated and impatient and then when he was able to come back he would kill them all so fast he didn't get to savor it like he used to. He would always tell himself next time will be different, next time he would take his time, really lean into the nightmares and get creative. But then something strange happened, something Freddy didn't plan on...

The world...moved on...the world in a sense...ended. At least life on earth anyways. The living destroyed their world. Pollution, overpopulation, wars and greed finally took it's toll.

"Hell, I could've helped with overpopulation if they'd just given me a call"

Freddy pondered the situation as he took a peek outside the dream realm. The dream people who gave him his powers long ago as he burned alive at the hands of the vigilante mob in Springwood, Ohio had also given him the ability to see into the living world from time to time. It was never an exact science. Most of the time he couldn't maintain the connection for long, but for the past couple centuries he had hardly bothered to look. All he saw was desolation, dust bowls, empty streets, overgrown cities, and lots of trash.

"All the little kiddies took their toys and flew off to a new playground and I wasn't invited"

He longed for days gone by, days when he would slip into the dreams of teenagers on Elm Street and one by one cut them down and consume their souls. Sure, sometimes they would fight back. Hell, sometimes they even killed him. Or so they thought, but Freddy was eternal. He had always looked at his immortality as a blessing but these days it felt like a curse. The boredom...

"The boredom...now that's REALLY A BITCH"

He had begun his journey to this life of desolation in limbo as a serial killer. His victims were children.

"Children...Yeah, I know what you're thinking...SHUT THE FUCK UP THIS IS MY STORY!"

The children represented everything that had been robbed from him in his own childhood. The neglect, the beatings, the...

"They get it, no need to spell it out, move on!"

He grew up in Springwood and the town knew what his foster father was, knew what the man was doing to young Fred Krueger. The townsfolk knew and they DID NOTHING! The kids at school bullied Fred on a daily basis.

"You kill two measly class pets and all of a sudden you're a freak, sheesh."

The only thing that saved young Fred Krueger was time, but instead of trying to be a better person he grew bitter and spiteful. His soul was gone, replaced by hate and evil. He decided he would show the townspeople what they had turned a blind eye to for far too long. Adult Fred began his work of preying on the innocent small children of Springwood. He took from them everything that was taken away from him and then he took their life. He enjoyed the showmanship of it all. He lulled the children into a false sense of security. Sometimes he'd claim to be a detective sent to retrieve the children because their parents had died or he'd say he was a friend of the family. Whatever role he choose, he reveled in it before whisking them away to his boiler room. There he would taunt them, show them his favorite tool, the glove affixed with four razor sharp finger blades. He would build up the fear by sharpening his blades in front of them. Hell, he even let them run sometimes.

"IT WAS A DARK BOILER ROOM...WHERE THE FUCK WERE THEY GONNA GO? HAHAHAHAHA!"

And of course he really enjoyed when they screamed for their parents and felt the helplessness he had felt his entire childhood. But the best part, the part he especially longed for in his solitude, was when he made his art. When his blades sang the song of blood, a macabre dance of death as he snuffed out the light from so many young eyes.

"JESUS! What a description! And people say I'm THE SICKO?"

He was getting the ultimate revenge on the town of Springwood but then he got sloppy.

"SOME SNOOPING BITCH GOT MY LICENSE PLATE YOU MEAN!"

They came for Freddy and arrested him. Some of the policemen and detectives were the same ones who had gone to school with Fred and called him a freak and pushed him around. But they were the ones getting laughed at this time. Freddy chuckled and grinned on his way out of the courtroom after his defense attorney was able to show a flaw in the arrest warrant that led to Krueger's release.

"Gotta love the judicial system...ha ha ha ha."

He was going to pack up and leave town. He would set up shop somewhere else.

"EVERY TOWN HAS AN ELM STREET!"

He fled back to his quarters that dark winter's night and put on a warm red and green striped sweater and fedora hat. He collected a few necessities like a certain leather glove affixed with a metal frame and four razor sharp blades, but before he could make his break they came for him. The parents of his victims, the vigilante mob. They would succeed where the legal system failed. Multiple Molotov cocktails later and Freddy was surrounded by flames on all sides. His fate was sealed, his death imminent.

That's when the dream people arrived. They offered Freddy immortality. He would become a dream demon and he would be able to continue his work. He would avenge his death at the hands of the parents of Elm Street in Springwood, Ohio. He would take his revenge even on those who hadn't turned a blind eye to his own abuse, or had a hand in burning him alive. The dream people offered Freddy a chance to...

"I WAS ABOUT TO BURN ALIVE! DOES IT MATTER WHAT THEY OFFERED? I SAID YES BITCH!"

Freddy accepted the terms of the dream people and suffered the first of many deaths as he slowly burned alive that night in Springwood. Despite the pain and suffering, that's when his fun really began. This time he would come after the teenagers of Elm Street, the kids he hadn't gotten around to killing when he was alive. He would come after them in their dreams. If they died in their dreams they died for real and their soul was Freddy's. Each soul gave him more power. Many would try to defeat him, even pulling him from the dream world back into the land of the living. They turned their back on him, taking away his power by not fearing him, but that didn't last for long. He grew stronger and returned, this time using the physical world as a means of return by possessing a young man who had moved into a certain house on Elm Street and found his glove. He used his new vessel out of the dream world to inflict pain and death upon several residents before being defeated by love.

"Do we really gotta talk about that particular time period? I was still a new immortal dream demon. I was just finding my groove! By the way, Jesse killed a lot of people with me at the wheel. Love may have saved his hide but he still spent his entire life on the run trying to avoid old sparky! But his luck finally ran out and he left this world with 2500 volts of electricity running through him, he rode that lightning bolt straight to hell hahahahahahaha!"

Freddy came back again, this time facing off against a team of Elm Street teens who discovered they had powers they could harness in their dreams. These dream warriors took the fight to Freddy.

"How'd that work out for most of them?"

Freddy would ultimately be defeated but would always return stronger than before time and time again. However after being defeated too many times the dream people even left him for a while. In that period Freddy's soul languished in hell itself, trying to find a way back, a way to once again infect the living with fear, fear of Freddy. Maybe then the dream people would give him one more chance.

Freddy's soul languished in Hell itself during that time. He searched for a way back, a way to once again infect the living with fear, fear of Freddy. Maybe then the dream people would give him one more chance. Finally, he found the way. He would use another undead serial killer as a means to be remembered...

"Yes, Yes, the Momma's boy...they know all this...hurry up!"

The legend of Freddy Krueger would disappear completely for decades and decades and then somehow somebody would accidentally uncover the history and share their new found knowledge with others in Springwood, unleashing Freddy to wreak havoc in the dreams of his victims again and again. But as the decades passed, the earth was becoming more and more uninhabitable. The people of earth had to find a new home because their current planet was dying. They found it in a neighboring galaxy. The planet they discovered would be known as Earth-2. Humanity would survive lightyears away and Freddy would be left behind in his limbo waiting for a return he would never see. There was no one left to remember him. He would try to remain hopeful and on those rare occasions when he would be able to lift the veil between his limbo and the waking world he would hope to see a new way to infect the minds of the living. He searched for a new way back to doing what he did best, hoping that this time he would see more than swirling dirt, decayed structures, desolate wastelands and that he would actually see a real...

"WELL, WELL, WELL...WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE? UP IN THE SKY! IT'S A BIRD! IT'S A PLANE...WAIT, NOPE IT LOOKS LIKE CASA DE FREDDY HAS SOME VISITORS AFTER ALL THIS TIME. I CAN'T WAIT TO GREET THEM AND WELCOME THEM TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD...HAHAHAHA!"
