Chapter 2: Hanging up the suit

New York One Year Later from the previous events with Max Dillon/Electro, Harry Osborn/Green Goblin and Aleksei Sytsevich/Rhino.

New York Socialites were walking and driving from everywhere.

We join Peter Parker for the first time since the last event. He was on a bike and riding in a hurry.

His cell phone rang in his pocket of his jacket.

"Oh man." Peter said.

He answers with ear plugs.

"Hello?" Peter asked.

"Parker! Where are you?! When we talked on the phone last night I said I expected you here at this exact hour!" A voice came.

"Yes sir, Mr. Jameson. I'm sorry. I was stuck in traffic but I'm just now in Town Square. I'm not that far." Peter said.

"Well you better hurry! I expect you here before the sun is fully down. I want that photo of Spider-Man promised!" Jameson's voice said.

"Yes sir. On my way." Peter said.

"You better be. And I better see you before it's dark. OR YOU'RE FIRED!" Jameson's voice said.

The line hung up on his face and Peter could tell this Jameson guy he spoke to was a real grouch.

"Fired? You haven't hired me yet." Peter said.

Peter rode on.

Till he saw…a couple being mugged…

"Oh why do they always pick my busiest days?" Peter asked.

Peter rushes over changing quickly in full speed.

"I said give me your damn wallet!" Mugger said.

"Please…just take and go." The man said.

"Just don't shoot us." The woman said.

Suddenly the Mugger's gun was web yanked out of his hand.

"What the hell?!" Mugger said.

They all look up to see…the Amazing Spectacular Spider-Man swinging down.

He kicks the Mugger away and webs him to the wall.

"You guys really know how to screw up my timing." Spider-Man said.

Spider-Man turns to the couple.

"You two okay?" Spider-Man asked.

"Yes thanks to-" The woman said.

"Get away from us you masked freak!" The man said.

"Honey, he just helped us." The woman said.

"The Bugle says this guy's a menace. You just go back to whatever freaky world you came from. We never need your help! Ever!" The man said.

The blunt man pulled his wife away leaving our hero unappreciated.

"Why do I bother? I know Uncle Ben. I know. Just hope the last extra pictures will make up for it." Spider-Man said.

He takes his camera from the webbing he took to the wall on automatic mode.

And there we come to the Daily Bugle for the first time in this series.

Peter rushed into an office out of breath and covered in sweat with a man reading a paper…

"Mr. Jameson? Hi uh…I'm Peter Parker who you spoke to on the phone earlier. I'm-" Peter said.

"You're late! That's what you are!" Jameson said.

He throws down the paper on his desk revealing for the first time in this series J. Jonah Jameson. Chief and Editor of the Daily Bugle.

"I told you to be here at the exact hour! You-" Jameson said.

"But sir I have those pictures you asked for." Peter said.

He hands him two pictures of Spider-Man from earlier and the mugging.

"Ahh so that masked menace has struck again!" Jameson said.

"Menace?" Peter asked.

"Spider-Man has been terrorizing Manhattan for years and we could never get a close up of this lunatic. But you, Parker, are the answer to my prayers. Congratulations son welcome to Daily Bugle. But don't expect anything official just keep bringing me photos and I'll keep your bank account full." Jameson explained.

"Yes sir." Peter said.

Peter was already down enough about the man he saved talking trash to him but seeing how New York calls Spider-Man calls him a menace he now knows why his new boss is turning New York against Spider-Man.

Just a year ago he and Gwen were gonna flock to London together but then she died and Peter felt alone again since his parents and uncle.

Yet having hallucinations of his father was no help which he's been taking counter agents to prevent them…

Peter didn't see the point anymore without Gwen Stacy and New York hating Spider-Man. Why brother?

We come back to the Parker House.

May wasn't home but Peter came into his room throwing his backpack on his bed unzipping it and pulling out his Spidery Suit.

And then…hangs up.

"I'm sorry Uncle Ben. I really tried. For Gwen. For Mom. For Dad. I really did…but I can't anymore. I'm Spider-Man…No More." Peter said sadly.

He shuts the closet door locking it up, promising to never put it on again…
