Here's chapter 2!
The tension in the air was palpable as Naruto stood before his new students, a mischievous grin playing across his lips. Team 7 was assembled, their eyes fixed on the two small, silver bells that dangled from his waist. The sound of them jingling softly seemed to mock them, a constant reminder of the challenge that lay ahead.
"I told you," Naruto said, pacing back and forth slowly. "Your task is simple: get one of these bells. If you don't, you fail. The ones who don't get a bell will head back to the Academy. So let's get started"
Kazaya scoffed under his breath, arms crossed. "Two bells for three of us? This is rigged."
Naruto gave him a sly smile. "Life's not fair, Kazaya. But remember, I said you could use any means necessary. So think smart. You've got until noon."
Ashi's eyes gleamed with excitement. She bounced on the balls of her feet, Yuna wagging her tail excitedly from her hood. "I'm getting one of those bells for sure!"
Hikari stood quietly, eyes narrowed as she watched Naruto, her mind racing. She was already analyzing every movement, every twitch of Naruto's expression.
Naruto folded his arms. "Alright, Team 7," he said, his grin widening. "Come at me."
Without missing a beat, Ashi shot forward. She was all speed and raw power, her instincts pushing her to strike fast. "I'm not wasting any time!" she shouted as she leaped toward Naruto, her fists clenched and ready to attack.
But just as her fist was about to make contact with his chest, Naruto poofed out of existence.
Ashi's fist hit nothing but air. She stumbled forward, blinking in surprise as her hand met the empty space where Naruto had been. "What the—?"
Kazaya raised an eyebrow from his spot at the edge of the training ground. "A clone...," he muttered, though there was a hint of curiosity in his tone. "Where'd he go?"
Hikari's eyes widened in realization as she scanned the area. "That wasn't him…"
"What?" Ashi turned to her, confused. "What do you mean?"
Hikari crouched low, her eyes scanning the trees and the surrounding field. "That was a clone. Naruto-sensei's been using a Shadow Clone from the beginning."
Kazaya let out a sigh, uncrossing his arms and standing up straight. "Great. So, we've been talking to a decoy this whole time?"
Ashi balled her fists in frustration. "A clone? How did I not notice that?!"
Hikari stood up, her brow furrowed as she tried to think. "Naruto-sensei is probably watching us from somewhere close by. He's testing how we react, how we think under pressure."
"Well," Kazaya said dryly, "I say we forget about the clone and focus on finding the real Naruto. If we can corner him, we'll have a shot at the bells."
Ashi grinned, her frustration melting away as her competitive spirit flared up again. "Heh, I like that plan. Time to track him down! Come on, Yuna, let's show 'em how the Inuzuka clan tracks!"
The small husky pup barked in agreement, leaping out of Ashi's hood and onto the ground. Yuna began sniffing the air, her nose twitching as she picked up on the subtle scent of their sensei. Her tail wagged furiously as she darted forward, leading Ashi toward the trees.
Kazaya shrugged. "Well, at least she's got some kind of plan."
Hikari nodded, a sense of urgency building in her chest. We need to find Naruto-sensei fast. If we don't work together, there's no way we'll get those bells.
The trio followed Yuna as the pup weaved through the training ground, sniffing at the ground and leading them deeper into the forest that bordered the field. The trees grew thicker as they ventured farther, the sounds of chirping birds and rustling leaves filling the air.
Hikari's heart pounded in her chest. They had no idea where Naruto was hiding, but she knew that if they didn't stay sharp, they'd never stand a chance. Naruto's skill with clones and misdirection was legendary. He could be anywhere—and time was not on their side.
Ashi crouched down beside Yuna, keeping her hand on the pup's back as they moved forward. "He's close, I can feel it," she muttered. "Yuna's got his scent."
Kazaya, who had been walking behind them, suddenly froze. His eyes narrowed as he scanned the trees ahead. "Wait. Something's off."
Hikari turned to him. "What do you mean?"
Kazaya pointed to the clearing just ahead of them. "There's a chakra disturbance. I can feel it."
Ashi blinked. "You can sense chakra like that?"
Kazaya shrugged. "It's not that hard. Just a little trick I picked up."
Before Hikari could respond, Yuna let out a low growl. The pup's ears flattened against her head, and Ashi's eyes widened in recognition.
"Trap!" Ashi shouted, but it was too late.
A flurry of kunai shot out from the trees above, speeding toward them with deadly accuracy. Hikari barely had time to react, her heart jumping into her throat as she dove to the side. She rolled across the ground and came to a stop behind a tree just as the kunai embedded themselves into the dirt where she had been standing.
Kazaya dodged easily, leaping backward with a quick somersault, landing with his ninjato drawn. "Figures he'd set traps like this," he muttered.
Ashi, however, had been caught off guard. She stumbled as she tried to dodge the kunai, one of them grazing her arm. "Tch!" she hissed in pain, grabbing her arm. "Naruto-sensei!"
The voice that answered came from everywhere and nowhere at once. "Gotta keep your head on a swivel, Ashi!"
Naruto's voice echoed through the trees, though his exact location was impossible to pinpoint. Hikari's mind raced as she crouched behind the tree, her breath coming in quick bursts. 'He's using his clones to lay traps and mess with us', she thought, trying to calm her racing heart. 'We're walking right into his game.'
Kazaya glanced around, scanning the trees for any sign of movement. "We need to flush him out," he said, his voice calm and measured. "He's hiding, but he can't hide forever. If we work together, we can force him into the open."
Ashi, still gripping her arm where the kunai had grazed her, nodded. "Alright. I'm not going to let some stupid traps slow me down. Yuna and I will keep tracking him."
Hikari swallowed hard, her mind spinning with possibilities. "I'll set up some defensive seals to cover us from more traps. Kazaya, you keep an eye on our surroundings. If Naruto-sensei is moving around, you'll be the first to sense it."
Kazaya smirked slightly. "Not a bad plan, Hikari."
They moved quickly, Hikari pulling out small paper tags as she placed them around the clearing. She focused her chakra, activating the defensive barrier as the seals glowed softly and formed a protective circle around them.
Ashi, undeterred by the traps, crouched low beside Yuna. "Alright, girl. Find him."
Yuna sniffed the air again, her little nose twitching as she caught the scent. With a sharp bark, she darted forward, leading Ashi through the trees, deeper into the woods.
Hikari and Kazaya followed closely, their eyes scanning the trees for any sign of Naruto. As they moved, Kazaya kept his ninjato ready, his senses sharp for any sign of chakra disturbances.
Minutes passed, and the tension grew heavier with every step they took. Naruto had disappeared completely—no clones, no traps, just the dense, quiet forest around them.
Then, without warning, Yuna let out a sharp bark, and Ashi stopped dead in her tracks.
"There!" Ashi shouted, pointing to a shadowy figure perched on a high tree branch. Hikari and Kazaya followed her gaze, and sure enough, there was Naruto, sitting casually on the branch with a playful smirk on his face.
"Well, well," Naruto called down to them. "You guys are getting closer. But just finding me isn't enough. You still need the bells."
Ashi grinned, determination burning in her eyes. "I'll take care of that!" Without waiting for Hikari or Kazaya to respond, she sprinted forward, launching herself into the air toward Naruto's branch, Yuna barking and following closely behind.
Naruto raised an eyebrow, watching her approach. "Still too direct, Ashi."
Just as Ashi reached him, Naruto's form flickered—and he vanished.
Ashi landed on the branch, nearly losing her balance, his speed catching her off guard. "Are you kidding me?!"
From behind them, Naruto's voice rang out again, this time from the opposite direction. "You're gonna have to try harder than that if you want these bells!"
Hikari's fists clenched. 'He's not playing fair… but we've got to be smarter than this,' Hikari thought, her frustration rising. Naruto was playing them, keeping them moving in circles, testing not just their strength but their patience and strategy.
Ashi growled in frustration from her spot on the branch. "He's just toying with us!"
Kazaya, standing a few feet away, remained calm, though a subtle frown tugged at his lips. "If we keep reacting like this, we'll never catch him. He's been moving us around, and we haven't even come close to those bells."
Hikari wiped the sweat from her brow, her mind racing. 'We're not going to win by chasing him head-on like this.' She took a deep breath and thought back to everything she had read about Naruto. His unpredictability, his clones, his experience in turning the tide of battle. There had to be a way to beat him, even in this game he was controlling.
"We need to change our approach," Hikari said, her voice steady. "If we can't chase him down, we need to force him to come to us."
Ashi leapt down from the branch, still fuming but listening. "Force him? How?"
"We know he's fast, and he's used his clones to mislead us," Hikari explained. "But Naruto-sensei has one weakness that we can exploit—his tendency to be overconfident."
Kazaya's eyes narrowed, his arms still crossed. "Go on."
Hikari continued, feeling more sure of herself now. "He expects us to keep rushing him like we've been doing, so let's change the game. We can set a trap of our own. If we work together and lure him into thinking he's still in control, we can force him into a corner and grab those bells."
Ashi grinned, her competitive spirit flaring up again. "I like it! What's the plan?"
Hikari thought quickly, formulating a strategy. "Alright, Kazaya, you're going to hang back and keep your senses sharp. If Naruto-sensei moves, we need to know immediately. Ashi, you'll keep going with the direct attacks to distract him—make it seem like we're still trying to rush him. Meanwhile, I'll set up an area with traps of our own. We'll funnel him into a spot where he thinks he can outmaneuver us, but we'll be waiting for him."
Kazaya's skeptical expression softened slightly as he nodded. "That could work. It's better than running around in circles."
Ashi, fired up once more, punched her palm and nodded. "Let's do it! I'll keep him busy."
The team split up, each of them moving into position. Hikari focused, pulling out her tools and paper bombs, placing them strategically around the clearing. She carefully wove chakra into the traps, ensuring they would trigger at the right moment. Meanwhile, Ashi and Yuna darted off again, barking and shouting as they made a show of searching for Naruto, keeping his attention on them.
Kazaya remained in the background, his eyes closed in concentration as he honed his senses, feeling the faint disturbances in the chakra around him. His calm, calculating demeanor stood in sharp contrast to Ashi's wild energy, but the two balanced each other out as they carried out their roles.
After several minutes, Hikari had finished laying out the trap zone, the seals and paper bombs hidden carefully in the ground and around the trees. She signaled to Kazaya and Ashi, letting them know she was ready.
"Alright, Ashi, keep leading him toward the clearing," Hikari whispered into the small ear communicator she had slipped into her ear. "Kazaya, be ready for when he makes his move. If we pull this off right, we'll have him."
Ashi grinned, nodding at Yuna, who barked in agreement. "Got it. Time to lead the fox into the henhouse."
With that, Ashi charged forward again, making enough noise to draw Naruto's attention, intentionally making her movements obvious as she barreled through the trees.
Naruto's voice echoed from somewhere nearby. "Back for more, Ashi?"
Ashi didn't respond, focusing instead on luring Naruto toward the trap. She darted from tree to tree, her movements wild and erratic, as if she were still relying on brute force. In reality, though, she was keeping him on a path that would lead straight into the trap Hikari had set.
Kazaya, meanwhile, tracked Naruto's chakra signature as it followed Ashi. "He's moving. Right on target."
As Ashi and Yuna approached the edge of the clearing, Naruto finally appeared again, his clone dashing through the trees behind them. "You're persistent, I'll give you that," Naruto called out, but there was a playful edge to his voice, as if he still had the upper hand.
Ashi skidded to a stop just as she reached the clearing, glancing back over her shoulder. "You think you can beat me, Naruto-sensei? Let's see you handle this!"
Without another word, Ashi leaped toward the middle of the clearing, where Hikari had hidden most of the traps. Naruto's clone gave chase, closing in on her—but just as the clone was about to reach Ashi, the ground beneath it erupted in a cloud of smoke.
The clone blinked, then dissolved into nothingness.
Naruto's real voice echoed from behind them, laughing. "Nice try! But you've gotta do better than that if you're going to—"
Before he could finish, Hikari sprang her trap. In an instant, the paper bombs she had placed around the clearing ignited, not in explosions, but with a burst of smoke and chakra suppression tags. The entire area was suddenly shrouded in a thick cloud of smoke, cutting off Naruto's view and disorienting him.
"Now!" Hikari shouted.
Kazaya, who had been waiting for the perfect moment, dashed out from his hiding spot, his ninjato flashing as he aimed directly for the bells on Naruto's waist.
Naruto, his senses sharp, reacted in an instant, dodging Kazaya's strike with impressive speed. "Not bad," Naruto muttered as he spun to avoid the attack. But as he did, Hikari appeared from the other side, throwing a kunai laced with chakra toward the bells.
Naruto twisted, catching the kunai mid-air with a deft movement of his hand, but in doing so, he left his side momentarily exposed.
Ashi and Yuna, who had been waiting in the shadows, pounced. With a sudden burst of speed, Ashi lunged forward, her hand outstretched as Yuna barked beside her.
Naruto's eyes widened as he realized too late what was happening. He tried to move, but the smoke and the combined attacks had slowed his reflexes just enough to give Ashi the opening she needed.
Her fingers brushed against one of the bells.
The familiar jingle of the bell filled the air as Ashi's hand closed around it. She grinned triumphantly, holding it up for the rest of the team to see.
"I got it!" Ashi shouted, Yuna barking happily beside her.
Naruto blinked in surprise, then let out a soft chuckle. "Well, well. Looks like you're full of surprises, Team 7."
Hikari, Kazaya, and Ashi regrouped, standing in front of Naruto with a mixture of pride and exhaustion on their faces. They had done it—they had worked together, set their trap, and managed to grab one of the bells.
Naruto folded his arms, a satisfied smile on his face. "You all did well. You thought outside the box, worked as a team, and didn't give up, even when things weren't going your way."
Ashi beamed, still holding the bell tightly. "So… does this mean we pass?"
Naruto chuckled, shaking his head slightly. "You didn't think it'd be that easy, did you?" He reached into his vest and pulled out a second set of bells, identical to the ones tied around his waist. "This was only the first round."
Hikari's jaw dropped. "Wait… what?!"
Kazaya groaned, rubbing his temples. "I should've known."
Naruto grinned, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Round two starts now."
Ashi's triumphant grin faltered as she stared at the second set of bells in Naruto's hand. She blinked, looking between the bell in her hand and the new ones Naruto had just pulled out. "Wait… another set? You've gotta be kidding me!"
Hikari's face mirrored her shock, her analytical mind already racing to catch up with the sudden twist. So that was just a warm-up? She took a deep breath, trying to keep her focus. They had worked so hard to get that first bell, and now Naruto was throwing another challenge at them.
Kazaya sighed heavily, his hand dropping to his side. "Of course. Because the first one wasn't enough of a headache."
Naruto, still grinning mischievously, tied the new bells back to his waist. "You didn't really think it'd be over after one round, did you? That was just a warm-up to see how you handle the basics. Now, let's kick things up a notch."
Ashi groaned, glancing at Yuna, who was still wagging her tail happily. "Yuna, we worked so hard for that bell!" She lifted the bell in her hand, shaking it in disbelief.
Naruto folded his arms, his tone playful but with a hint of seriousness underneath. "Listen up, brats. That first test showed me you can think on your feet and work together when you need to, but now I want to see how you handle pressure. Can you keep up your teamwork when the stakes are higher and the clock is ticking down?"
Hikari exchanged a glance with Kazaya, her brain still spinning as she tried to absorb this new development. This is a test of endurance now, she realized. 'Naruto-sensei wants to see if we can maintain our focus and adapt when things get tougher'.
Ashi clenched her fists, clearly frustrated but determined. "Alright, fine! We'll just do it again. We've already got one bell, so we know we can take him down."
Naruto chuckled softly, his eyes narrowing. "It's not that simple, Ashi. This time, I'll be stepping up my game. No more holding back."
Kazaya raised an eyebrow, glancing at Hikari. "This just keeps getting better and better."
Hikari nodded slowly, her thoughts aligning as she started to form a plan. "We'll have to be faster and smarter this time. If Naruto-sensei wasn't using his trying before, then we can't afford to make any mistakes now."
Naruto stepped back a few paces, giving them some distance. "Alright, Team 7. The rules are the same, but the game's changed. This time, you only have one hour to get the bells." He held up a small pocket watch and set the timer. "When the time's up, anyone without a bell fails."
The weight of the new challenge pressed down on them, but Hikari wasn't about to let doubt creep in. She straightened up, looking at her teammates with renewed resolve. "Okay, let's focus. We did it once, we can do it again—but this time, we'll have to adapt faster."
Ashi, ever the eager one, nodded enthusiastically. "You got it, Hikari! I'm ready for round two!"
Kazaya, however, kept his usual bored expression. "This is going to be a lot more troublesome than last time…"
Naruto's grin widened as he twirled a kunai in his hand. "Ready? Go!"
With that, Naruto vanished.
It wasn't the subtle disappearance of a clone like last time—this time, it was instant. A blur of motion, faster than any of them could track, and he was gone from their sight completely.
For a moment, there was only silence. The birds stopped chirping, the leaves barely moved. Hikari's heart raced, her eyes darting around the clearing. He's moving faster. Way faster.
Ashi clenched her fists, gritting her teeth. "Where'd he go? Yuna, find him!"
Yuna sniffed the air, her ears twitching, but even the little husky seemed confused by Naruto's sudden disappearance. The team stood frozen, scanning the trees for any sign of movement, but nothing came.
Kazaya, his eyes narrowed, muttered, "He's not going to make this easy. We're going to need a different approach."
Hikari nodded, her mind working furiously. "We need to set up multiple layers of traps this time. He's too fast for just one distraction, so we'll have to lure him into an area where we can predict his movement."
Ashi grinned, her frustration melting into excitement again. "I like it! More traps means more chances to get him!"
Kazaya looked unimpressed, but he gave a slight nod. "If we're going to do this, we better be quick about it. We only have an hour."
Hikari glanced at her teammates, determination setting in. This is it. We have to step up our game.
"Alright," she said quickly, "Ashi, you and Yuna will keep up the pressure. Make a lot of noise, draw his attention. Kazaya and I will move in the shadows, setting up traps and waiting for the right moment to strike."
Ashi gave a sharp nod. "You got it. Yuna and I will make sure he knows we're coming!"
Kazaya smirked faintly, unsheathing his ninjato. "Just don't get yourself caught in your own trap."
Ashi shot him a glare. "Don't worry about me, lazy bones. I know what I'm doing."
The three of them sprang into action. Ashi darted off into the trees with Yuna at her heels, making as much noise as possible as they crashed through the underbrush. Her loud movements would keep Naruto's attention, leaving Kazaya and Hikari to work quietly in the shadows.
Hikari and Kazaya moved silently, laying out traps and placing kunai with paper bombs attached to them in strategic locations. Hikari's hands moved quickly as she set up chakra suppression seals on the ground, forming a grid that would limit Naruto's movement once they lured him into the area.
Minutes passed, and the clock continued ticking down, the pressure mounting with every second. Hikari's heart raced as she and Kazaya finished setting the last of the traps. Now all that was left was to lure Naruto into the zone.
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed through the trees, followed by a yelp from Ashi. "Hey! No fair, Naruto-sensei!"
Hikari and Kazaya exchanged a glance, and Kazaya sighed. "Sounds like she's already running into trouble."
"She's doing her job," Hikari replied, crouching low as they moved through the trees toward Ashi's voice. "Now it's our turn."
As they reached the edge of the clearing where they had laid their traps, Hikari's pulse quickened. They were in position. Now, all they needed was to draw Naruto in.
Then, without warning, a burst of movement cut through the trees, and Naruto appeared. He was faster than before, his movements a blur of orange and black as he dodged Ashi's wild punches and Yuna's snapping jaws with ease.
"Nice try, Ashi," Naruto said with a laugh, easily sidestepping her next attack. "But you're still too predictable."
Ashi growled in frustration but didn't back down. "I'm not giving up until I get that bell!"
Naruto's grin widened as he turned, his eyes flashing as he prepared to counter Ashi's next move. But just as he did, he stepped into the first of Hikari's chakra suppression seals. The ground beneath him shimmered slightly, and Naruto's movements slowed for a fraction of a second.
It was all the time they needed.
"Now!" Hikari shouted.
Kazaya, already in position, launched forward from the shadows, his ninjato aimed directly at the bells hanging from Naruto's waist. Hikari followed behind, kunai in hand as she prepared to strike from the opposite side.
Naruto's eyes widened slightly as he realized the trap had been set, but his grin never wavered. "Not bad, you guys. But—"
In a blur of motion, Naruto shifted just enough to dodge Kazaya's strike, twisting his body mid-air as he avoided Hikari's kunai. But as he landed, the second layer of traps activated.
The paper bombs Hikari had placed earlier ignited, releasing a cloud of smoke that filled the clearing. The chakra suppression seals flickered, keeping Naruto's movements slightly slowed as the smoke engulfed him.
Ashi and Yuna leapt forward, using the chaos to their advantage. Ashi's hand shot out, reaching for the bells once again.
Naruto, still grinning through the smoke, twisted his body one last time, narrowly avoiding her grasp. But as he moved, Kazaya came from behind, his ninjato slashing through the air, and—
The jingle of a bell filled the air as Kazaya's blade nicked the cord tied to Naruto's waist.
A single bell dropped to the ground.
Ashi's eyes widened, and she lunged forward, grabbing the bell before Naruto could react. She held it up, her face lighting up with triumph. "I got it! I got the bell!"
Naruto landed a few feet away, brushing the dust off his jacket. His grin never faltered as he looked at the three of them, standing together with the bell in hand. "Well, well… you guys are really something."
Naruto landed a few feet away, brushing the dust off his jacket. His grin never faltered as he looked at the three of them, standing together with the bell in hand.
"Well, well… you guys are really something," Naruto said, his voice laced with pride. The bell jingled faintly in Ashi's hand as she looked at her teammates with a wide grin.
"I told you I'd get it!" Ashi crowed triumphantly, holding the bell up as Yuna barked excitedly beside her.
Hikari, though smiling, felt her heart still racing from the intensity of the battle. Her legs were trembling slightly, both from exhaustion and the lingering adrenaline. She took a deep breath to steady herself, grateful that their plan had worked.
Kazaya, as usual, looked unbothered by it all, though there was a small smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "That was a lot more effort than I was hoping for, but it got the job done."
Naruto walked over to them, his posture relaxed but his eyes still sharp with the lingering excitement of the test. He glanced at the bell in Ashi's hand and then at the empty spot on his waist where it had hung. "You guys really pushed me there," he said. "I have to admit, I'm impressed."
Ashi beamed, still holding the bell like it was her prize. "So, we passed, right? I mean, we got the bell!"
Naruto chuckled softly, scratching the back of his head. "You've got one bell, that's true. But remember, there are two of them. And there's still only one hour on the clock."
The mood shifted slightly, and Hikari's heart sank a little as the realization hit her. 'One bell… there are three of us…'
Ashi, too, seemed to catch on as her smile faltered. "Wait… but—"
Naruto raised his hand, silencing her with a patient expression. "I told you at the start, only those who get a bell pass. So, with one bell in your hand, what's going to happen to the others?"
Kazaya's eyes narrowed slightly as he glanced between Ashi, Hikari, and Naruto. "There's no way you'd let just one of us pass."
Naruto's grin widened. "Exactly."
Hikari's mind raced. This wasn't just about who had the bell. The entire test had been designed to push them toward this moment—to see what they would do when they were faced with an impossible choice. Would they fight over the remaining bell? Would one of them betray the others to ensure their own success?
Or would they do something different?
Ashi's grip tightened on the bell, her brow furrowing. She glanced at Hikari, then at Kazaya, clearly trying to make sense of the situation. "So… what are we supposed to do now?"
Hikari took a deep breath, her mind clearing as the pieces of the puzzle fell into place. She stepped forward, her voice calm and steady. "This isn't about the bells. It never was. The real test was about teamwork from the start."
Naruto's eyes gleamed with approval as he watched her speak.
Hikari continued, turning to Ashi and Kazaya. "Think about it. Naruto-sensei could've beaten us easily, but he didn't. He wanted us to work together, to trust each other. That's why there were only two bells. It was meant to make us choose between ourselves… but the point is that none of us are supposed to fail."
Kazaya looked at her with mild surprise, his arms crossed but his expression thoughtful. "So what are you saying? We just give up the bell?"
Hikari nodded. "We don't need the bells to prove we're a team. We've already shown that we can work together to achieve a goal. That's what Naruto-sensei was testing."
Ashi's face scrunched up in confusion at first, but then she looked down at the bell in her hand and realization dawned on her. Slowly, she stepped forward and held the bell out to Naruto. "Here, sensei," she said quietly. "You can keep it. We don't need it to prove that we're a team."
Naruto's grin stretched even wider, a mixture of pride and warmth in his expression. He took the bell from Ashi's hand but didn't pocket it. Instead, he raised it up for all three of them to see. "Well done, Team 7."
Kazaya blinked, visibly surprised. "Wait… seriously?"
Naruto nodded, attaching the bell back to his waist. "You passed. The real test wasn't about getting the bells. It was about seeing how you'd handle a challenge that seemed unfair. In real life, as shinobi, things don't always go the way you expect. You have to adapt, think on your feet, and—most importantly—trust your teammates."
Hikari felt a wave of relief wash over her, the weight of the challenge finally lifting from her shoulders. We did it, she thought, a smile spreading across her face.
Ashi fist-pumped the air, her energy returning in full force. "Yes! I knew we'd pass! Team 7 is the best!"
Kazaya, though still keeping his usual calm demeanor, couldn't help but let out a small, satisfied sigh. "Well, that was more work than I signed up for… but I guess it paid off."
Naruto stepped forward, placing a hand on each of their shoulders. His expression softened, the playful grin replaced by a more serious, but proud, smile. "You all did great. You showed me that you have the potential to become incredible shinobi. But this is just the beginning. From now on, we'll be working together as a team. You're no longer just Academy graduates—you're my students."
Hikari looked up at Naruto, feeling a deep sense of pride and excitement. She had passed the first test, but she knew that the real journey was only just beginning. They were officially Team 7 now, and with Naruto as their sensei, the future felt brighter than ever.
Ashi, still grinning, bounced on her heels. "So, what's next, Naruto-sensei? When's our first mission? I'm ready to go right now!"
Naruto chuckled. "Hold your horses, Ashi. First, we've got to train together as a team. Missions will come soon enough, but before that, I need to see what each of you is really capable of."
Kazaya sighed but didn't argue. "Guess there's no rest for the weary."
Naruto ruffled Ashi's hair and gave them all one last grin. "Rest up for now, Team 7. Tomorrow, your real training begins."
As they left the training grounds, the sun beginning to set behind them, Hikari felt a sense of accomplishment and excitement bubbling inside her. She knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
Team 7 was ready for whatever came next.
