Natsu dragged his hand down his face as he looked down at the dead body in front of him. With his neck bent and blood and dirt caked all over him, he was almost unrecognized at this point but Natsu knew who he was from the length of his hair and the tattoo that was inked into his skin.
"This is the third one this week."
"I know," Natsu blew out raspberries, seeing how his numbers were declining rapidly. Thankfully, now with the alliance with Fairy Tail, his numbers had increased significantly but the fact that his own men were dropping like flies was blasphemy.
"Whenever his autopsy is finished, send the paperwork my way. I need to get going," Natsu checked his wrist watch.
"So soon?" The guy looked nervous as his eye darted over to the mangled body before looking back at the don. "But—"
"Is there anything else you need from me?" Natsu snapped, turning to look at the very timid employee who jerked back.
"N—No sir, everything is—"
"Good," he clicked his tongue before turning away, hands shoved into his pockets. "I got dinner with my wife and she is not a patient woman so if you're done running your mouth," he tossed a hand up while walking away. "Good luck and try to stay alive."
—X—
Lucy scowled down at her watch, impatiently tapping her foot on the floor. Her sharp nails tapped against the clothed table where her eyes constantly darted from her wristwatch to the front door.
This asshole had the audacity to ask her to come meet him for dinner for 'important stuff' yet he was the one late? They lived together for fucks sakes, why couldn't this just wait till he was home?
Lucy grimaced slightly at the thought of that.
To be fair, it was kind of her fault that all of this really happened. Ever since last week when Natsu assaulted her lips and made her see stars while naked, she had avoided him like the black plague. Surprisingly, it wasn't too hard considering she really was busy and he was too and she had kept up the lie of having to work late.
And thankfully Natsu had to head out of town for two days to follow up on a shipment across town so it helped in her little avoidance but it didn't help that regardless, she would have to head home tonight. And so does he.
Which was why she didn't know why she had to be the one waiting for him at some restaurant downtown when she was going to be home!
"Fuck this," Lucy threw her arms in the air, kicking back her seat. The chair dragged across the wood, screeching with the movement.
Grabbing for her purse and trying to dig inside to grab some cash to leave, the front door had finally opened where she looked up to see the said devil she had been waiting for walk in.
And goddamn him for looking so fucking good after a week of her not able to see him.
"I'm here," he announced as he right over to her, seeing how she was just frozen in place while glaring at him. "You were trying to leave, weren't you?"
"No," Lucy spat as she finally fished out a twenty. "I wasn't trying, I am."
Slapping down the bill, Lucy took one last swig of her unfinished martini before she set the glass down and spun on her heel. Natsu's hand clamped down on her wrist and she was trying to jerk it away before he could reel her in but she had no idea why it was so hard to push this man away. She had dealt with men twice his size so why is it always him she couldn't fight off?
"Come on, baby, I haven't seen you all week. Didn't you miss me?"
"How can I miss someone who keeps me waiting at a restaurant all night?" She jerked her arm away from his grasp, rubbing at her wrist where she could still feel the warmth of his fingers on her skin.
Natsu rolled his eyes, his hands shoved into his pocket. "I was five minutes late."
"Seven."
She could see his right eye twitch and it made her satisfied to see she had pushed one of his buttons. He was always annoying and pissing her off so why shouldn't she return the favor?
"You look good, Mrs. Dragneel. How come I've never seen you wear this before?" He asked, stepping closer towards her where his finger dipped underneath the strap of her dress. Lucy resisted shivering as she felt the heat roll off his body and she scowled at him, feeling her cheeks heat up while he snapped the strap against her shoulder.
"Stop it," she swatted at his hand but barely missed as he pulled his hand back. "I'm tired of getting my time wasted by you. I'm going home."
"You don't even want to have dinner with your husband after not seeing him for a whole week?" He pretended to be wounded, pressing his hand against his chest while he gave her a look of hurt.
Lucy scoffed, crossing her arms across her chest. "Yeah, no, I'm good."
"Come on, Lucy, I missed ya, shouldn't that count for something? No welcome back hug? A I-missed-you kiss?"
"How about: go fuck yourself." Lucy gave him a pinched smile before giving him a pat on the chest. She shoulder checked him on the way out, not even turning back to look back at his reaction.
She forgot how infuriating her husband can be and no matter how attractive he was and no matter how much she wanted to jump his bones, it didn't change the fact that he was insufferable. He made her wait and didn't even have the decency to apologize and all he cared about was her not properly greeting him back to Magnolia?
What about her? He didn't even dare to check up on her (granted she ignored every one of his calls and texts) but he didn't even try to fight for it! She doesn't even know why she cares so much but all she knew was that she definitely didn't want anything to do with him right now.
Who cares if he looks like some kind of sex god that was mouth wateringly delicious? Or the fact that red was totally his color and he looked even better than the last time she saw him. Or how his simple touch sent tingles down her spine where she could feel her core throb, begging to be stretched out by him again.
Lucy shivered, shaking her head back and forth to try and get rid of the filthy thoughts she had of her husband.
With her heels clicking, Lucy took long powerful strides towards her car she had parked just a block away. Stopping to dig through her purse, Lucy fished out her pair of keys where the metal jingled with the movements.
Glaring from over her shoulder, Lucy was quick to block the arm that reached for her and as she twisted in her spot and threw her elbow back, she heard the satisfying crunch of bone breaking.
The said attacker screamed and stumbled back as Lucy dropped her purse, dropping down to a squat where she kicked her leg out and swiped the pair of feet that was right beside her. The other man yelped as he fell back, a choked gasp flying out of his lips when he tumbled against the hard concrete and slammed his head back.
Blood pooled out from behind his head and he laid there unconscious.
Picking up her purse, Lucy stood back up while dusting off her dress, looking down at the two men who were one of them groaning out in pain and the other unconscious.
Lucy let out a sigh when she felt a cold metal blade press against her neck and she was feeling frustrated that she was still having her time wasted.
Seriously, she was hoping the first guy was Natsu and she had broken his nose and then the second one came along for her to realize it wasn't Natsu at all. And now this third one appears? And he was bold enough to hold a knife to her neck? Even her poor husband wasn't that dumb.
"Don't even try it bitch or I'll slice your throat," the third one hissed into her ear and Lucy scrunched her face up in disgust at the smell of rotten teeth and cigarettes.
"Won't even dream of it," Lucy said in a monotone voice, a yawn flying out of her lips. "But I can't say the same for anyone else."
"Anyone el—?" He was trying to echo but as soon as she heard the click of a gun, a small smile spread across her lips.
"You want to put that knife down, buddy? That's my wife you have right there."
"Took you long enough," Lucy rolled her eyes before she used her elbow to jerk it back and hit him right in the chest. She could hear all the air escape his lungs as she shoved herself away from the man, turning to face her husband.
"Maybe if you didn't just run off I could have been here faster."
"Maybe if you weren't such a dick, I wouldn't have had to run off."
With the barrel of the gun still pointed at his head, his eyes darted back and forth in mild confusion and fear. The asssualtant's hands were raised up as if he was surrendering, watching the couple bicker back and forth.
"Five minutes wouldn't have killed ya."
" Seven. It was seven minutes, you asshole, and yes, it would have."
"Who has ever died from waiting seven goddamn minutes in a restaurant?"
Deciding this was the perfect time, the man whirled around to run away but Natsu was quick to pull the trigger and shoot right through his leg. The loud noise of his gun going off echoed in the darkness and the metal casing of his bullet bounced off the concrete, tinkering in the air. The man screamed before falling to the ground, trying to drag himself away as blood began to pool all around his pants and ground.
"Seriously? Where the hell is your silencer?" Lucy hissed at him, snatching the gun from his hands.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was going to need it. Saving my wife from possibly getting raped or kidnapped or robbed wasn't really on the agenda today."
"I didn't need you to save me," Lucy jabbed her sharp nail into his chest, growling. "I could have handled it myself. I did handle it myself until you decided to come in here with your dick swinging."
Natsu rolled his eyes, dragging his words out. "Sure."
"Don't make me fucking shoot you." She gave him a sharp look. " Again."
"What the fuck!" The man screamed, now grabbing the two's attention. "Why the fuck did you shoot me?!"
"Because you held a knife up to my wife's neck," Natsu jerked his head over to his wife who was still fuming beside him. With his hands tucked into his pocket, Natsu came right in front of him, watching him scowl at him while bleeding out of his leg. Tilting his head to the side, Natsu gave his foot a kick which earned a hiss in return. "So, was it worth it?"
"What?" He spat, looking at the rosy-haired one before turning to look at the blonde. "You two are fucking crazy!"
Lucy clocked the gun before aiming for his other leg, pulling the trigger where the bullet went straight through. The man howled in pain, his eyes wide and face growing red.
"You shouldn't be calling my wife any names, pal, she's a bit trigger happy and upset." He chuckled, watching him wither in pain from a safe distance.
"What? You were trying to rob me?" Lucy asked, gun still in her hand but lowered beside her. "Or were you three trying to rape me?"
"N—No!" He screamed, flailing his arms around. "Swear!"
"Then you were just doing this for fun?" Natsu tilted his head to the other side and the man was beginning to sweat.
"No, we were hired to bring her back—"
"Hired?" Lucy cut him off, furrowing her brows. "Hired by who?"
"I—I can't say, I—"
Raising her gun, Lucy didn't hesitate to put another bullet through him but this time into his shoulder. The sound bounced off the walls with the casing flying out and his scream filled in the silence afterwards.
"Give me that," Natsu snatched back his gun from her hands, scowling as he clicked the safety back on to tuck it into his waistband. "You're being too trigger happy."
"I'll show you—" Lucy growled, trying to reach under her dress for her own weapon but the sounds from the other two nearby stopped them.
The one who had slammed his head onto the concrete after Lucy had tripped him was still unconscious but the other one seemed to finally recover where his mistake was to make any type of noise. With blood smeared across his face and his hands, the look of terror flashed across his face before he was scrambling to get up.
Natsu was quick to pull his gun back out, shooting the guy in the back as he tried to make a run for it.
He instantly fell to the ground, a pool of blood beginning to surround him.
"Now who's trigger happy?" Lucy hissed at him before she shoulder checked him and came closer to the one on the ground. "Now, who hired you?"
"I—I—" His eyes were darting around as if someone was listening and watching and Lucy simply sighed.
Lucy snapped her neck over her shoulder to look right at her husband. He had the same grim look on his face and as he yet again pulled out his gun, the guy's eyes rounded out in fear.
"Wait, I can—!"
Pulling the trigger one last time, Natsu shot a bullet right through his skull. Blood and brain matter exploded everywhere and as he fell back from the kill shot, the two stood in front of him, staring.
"So… who is trying to kidnap you?"
The two turned around to look right at the unconscious man that was laying out on the concrete. He had yet to come back from his little snooze and while both his friends were now dead, he was the lucky one.
"I'll grab his legs and you grab his arms?" Lucy suggested and Natsu scoffed, clicking his gun back into place before shoving it back into his waistband.
"Who do you take your husband for?" He went right over to the body, standing over his unmoving self. "I got this."
Lucy watched from her spot as Natsu slung the guy's arm over his shoulder before he threw him into a fireman's hold. With the man dripping blood from the back of his head, he laid limp in his arms, limbs dangling.
"Come on, my car is just down the street." Natsu jerked his head before he turned to start walking.
"My cars right here!" Lucy pointed at her vehicle which made him look over at her.
"And those guys were after you which means they most likely have all your information that also includes what type of car you drive and the license plate." Lucy puffed her cheeks out at him, hating that he was right. "So it's best to get in my car."
"You're my husband, you don't think they would have your information, too?"
"It's not me they want," he flashed her a grin and Lucy rolled her eyes, storming over to him. She shoulder checked him again, walking ahead of him.
"I don't have all day," she cried out as she now stood a few feet ahead of him, her arms crossed and her foot impatiently tapping on the ground once again.
"Then get your sweet ass over here, sweetheart, because my car is over there." He pointed towards the right where Lucy whipped her head over to look. She scowled at him, hiding her blush as she marched over towards him, following his lead.
"Don't." She hissed as he opened his mouth and he was smart to clamp it shut, the corners of his lips curling up in amusement.
The walk was short as they ventured down the dark streets. Luckily, it was well past nighttime and there weren't many people out right now so the two looked unsuspicious to the naked eye. For all they knew, they could just be some happy couple helping one of their friends back home after one too many drinks.
"You're going to have to get my keys out of my pocket." Natsu said, standing as tall and thick as an oak tree. Just an oak tree with a man who was dripping blood and also near death hanging off his shoulder but regardless a thick ass tree.
Lucy's gaze dropped to the pockets of his fitted jeans, then back up at his face, seeing how he continued to stand there staring at her.
"If you haven't noticed, my hands are full."
Lucy let out a sigh. "Which one?"
"Left."
Coming up beside him, Lucy shoved her hand into his pocket, digging into the fabric.
Her fingers brushed against something firm and as Lucy tried to figure out if it was a gun, her fingers wrapped around it which made her finally realize it wasn't a gun. She quickly retracted her hand, gawking at the don next to her.
How the hell could he be semi-hard at a time like this?
Natsu didn't look embarrassed at all as he merely smirked at her. "Oops. I mean the other left pocket."
She scowled at him, holding her hand against her chest. "How could you be hard at a time like this?"
"You look hot when you hold a gun and shoot guys, what can I say?"
"Really?" She gave him a flat look. "If it turns you on so much then maybe I should shoot you more often."
"As long as you're wearing nothing, you can do anything you like to me." He purred at her and she took a step back, feeling the blush rush down her chest and to the tips of her ears.
"You—!"
"Can you get the keys? You're wasting time." He shifted his right hip toward her and wiggled it. It made her eyes drop down to his waist immediately and she caught the glimpse of his boner pressed against his zipper and she cursed internally to shift her gaze away.
This guy was ridiculous. Being hard at a time like this and being so shameless in the fact that he was.
And she couldn't stop thinking about how warm and hard his dick felt—
With all the caution of someone sticking their hand in a wasp nest, Lucy slid her hand into his right pocket, her lips pinched as she glared at him. Her fingers brushed against keys but she only managed to push them in further.
Gritting her teeth, she pushed her fingers in deeper, grasping for the keys while trying not to touch his obvious arousal again.
Natsu let out a small groan. "If you keep that up, I'm going to drop him and grab you instead."
Her cheeks grew darker in shade as she finally fished out his keys, taking the step back she desperately needed to finally breathe again.
"Pop the trunk."
Popping his trunk, Natsu had only suspicious items lying in his car. A wad of duct tape and more still in the plastic wrapping he bought them in. Rope. A hammer. A crowbar. And more fucking rope.
Grabbing the duct tape, Natsu easily ripped through them with his teeth, slapping them on his wrist to tie them behind his back before tying his legs together. Slapping a piece on his mouth for good measures, he then grabbed the rope and began to wrap it around him. Once ensured he was securely tied and won't be able to move or speak, Natsu threw the tape back in before slamming his trunk shut.
Turning around to lean against his car, he flashed his wife a grin while planting his palms on the vehicle.
"So, want to grab some dinner?"
Lucy rolled her eyes and threw her hands in the air, scoffing and turning to make her way to the passenger side. "Shut the fuck up and get in the car. We have shit to do."
Natsu smirked, pushing off his car to come to the driver's side. "Yes ma'am."
