Chapter two:

Linda didn't leave Ra-Ra alone until Near had already gone to his room.

It was too risky for Mello to lead Ra-Ra to Nears room at this time of day. So it was left alone.

Late at night...

Mello looks over Matt's shoulder. He's glad that he is an expert at sneaking around after nightly room checks. "So. What'd you find?"

"Fuck all." Matt sighs making Mello frown. "There isn't any known place of where they actually came from. Same country just no information on what city. Also any other background information doesn't seem to match. Nears says that he was taken in by L, after a graduate of this orphanage gave Near a code to tell L who sent him, then brought here to the orphanage. Ra-Ra on the other hand says that she was in several different orphanages after being found on the streets. She would get adopted then brought to another orphanage because the parents felt like they couldn't give her a good life. When they realized how smart she was that is. It says that they couldn't keep up with her. A few even said that they didn't want to feel stupid compared to their own child. Eventually an orphanage contacted this one to see if this place had room for her."

"Okay. Well let's just assume the same city then. What country is it?" Mello looks to his red head friend.

"The country is said to be Thailand."

Mello blinks not having actually expected that. "Oh. Interesting." He hums softly glancing away as he stokes his chin in thought. "Okay. So they are both Thai. I didn't think that was something Near had in him." He shakes his head a little and lowers his hand as he does so. "Anyways. At least we have a point that surely they both came from the same city, likely at least, and whatever happened must have happened there." He starts rolling ideas through his head for what to do.

"What is your plan?" Matt turns to his friend even though his orange lenses goggles are covering his eyes.

"Let's get ready to make them interact once more." Mello insists and Matt just nods softly. He hopes that maybe this way more will be revealed. He wants the information to use against Near possibly.

...

Today is the day.

Mello spots Ra-Ra and heads her way. He stops in front of her as she turns to look at him. "Hey. Do you mind if we walk together perhaps?"

"Oh. Sure that's alright." Ra-Ra nods her head before following Mello as they start to walk. "You know. It may be my only second day here however the others seem nice."

"Yeah. No ones ever gotten as much of a reaction from Near as you did." Mello hums softly. "Quite the first impression you made around here."

Ra-Ra shrugs lightly. "Yeah. He's always been on the more reserved side. I suppose it must have only gotten worse. I thought this would happen." She sighs softly as the two of them make their way through the orphanage.

"You are so mysterious. The others are probably too shocked to really be able to ask all the questions that they want."

"Not that they'd get much responses if they try to ask about our private lives."

Mello decides that he has to try to push things even though they are starting to get closer to their destination. "Seriously though. Can't you at least say something about what happened between you two?"

"No. If Near never spoke about it then I won't either." Ra-Ra holds firm in this so the blonde orphan male knows he'll have to find a way around this.

Mello even thinks about going to the other orphanages that Ra-Ra was in. He just has to see if maybe she spoke to another orphan there. "I see." He turns into the common room spotting Near playing with a puzzle on the floor. He watches Near wanting to be more focused on his reactions. "Hey Near."

Near glances up from his puzzle looking as calm as ever. "Greetings Mello." His calm state confuses Mello who turns to glance to Ra-Ra only to notice she's nowhere to be seen. "Can I help Mello in some way?"

Mello turns back to Near knowing that he needs to say something to not seem suspicious. "Let's talk about what happened between you two. You can tell me."

Near turns back to his puzzle seeming unfazed to not let Mello notice. He doesn't seem bothered by being asked about it. "No. That is not information that needs to be shared."

"Why?" Mello tries to press sneaking a glance to the entryway hoping for Ra-Ra to come in. He doesn't see her and decides he has to get out of this conversation to find her... Unless he gets Near to say something.

"Because it's not information Mello or anyone else needs to know." Near informs Mello who slightly huffs.

"Fine." Mello mentally promises that he'll be back at it soon then leaves the room. He finds Ra-Ra leaning against the wall by the entryway. "Why didn't you come in?"

"Near wants space. So I will give it to him. We may be in the same orphanage but I won't force anything."

Mello almost wants to strangle someone over how bad this is going. "If you're such a good friend why would Near be mad at you?! I get mad at Matt a bunch but never this bad. I know that we all have our moments however he truly is a good friend."

"Good friends can do really bad things. Whether they mean to or not." Ra-Ra tells Mello with a slight shake of her head. "At least your friendship sounds like it'll go on for a long time."

"Shouldn't yours?" Mello gets a pat on the shoulder making him pause.

Ra-Ra offers him a smile. "Some friendships were not meant to last. There is a lot about us that you don't know about." She turns away heading off.

"Wait!" Mello chases after her. "There's gotta be more than that."

"That. You don't need to know about." Ra-Ra turns into the library and Mello respects the quiet enough to not try to press her about it; Especially since he's frustrated.

"Ugh!" Mello groans rubbing his hands down his face. He silently wonders what he is supposed to do now. He blinks as he remembers his idea of checking the other orphanages Ra-Ra was at. He quickly dashes to try to find Matt for the very important information.

Sorry to anyone confused why it kept getting taken down. I was really tired and wrote this on my phone then transferred it to my computer to be post easier. I just ended up noticing some mistakes after posting and had to fix it.
