In Kourin's restaurant, the chef and Yukina were chatting, Yukina was fiddling with one of the prosthetics she'd stolen from Kyoshiro while Kourin was preparing another bowl.
"How do you steal this from him?" Kourin asked.
"I go inside and take one from his workbench." Yukina replied.
Kourin looked Yukina straight in the eye, stunned. "Can't it be as simple as that?"
"Strangely enough, it is, and the funny thing about this one is that there's a lighter and a cigarette pack built into the wrist." Yukina pointed out, turning the thumb to create a flame as a cigarette came out of the wrist.
"With you, he must smoke a pack a day to de-stress from your nonsense." Kourin sneered.
Yukina was about to reply, but suddenly Yosuke entered the restaurant with a death glare.
"Uh... hi." Yukina replied.
Yosuke's gaze turned to Kourin. "You, you're the leader of the resistance, aren't you?"
"Sorry officer, I don't know what you're talking about." Kourin replied.
"No need to lie, Kyoshiro told me. I need your help to destroy Phoenix." Yosuke retorted.
"And how can you help us?" Kourin asked seriously.
"I have the highest level of security after Dan and Jack. I can access all the information we need." Yosuke replied.
Kourin thought for a few seconds before saying. "Meh, no need. I already have a dozen moles at Phoenix who give me information on just about everything. Why would I need you?" She retorted with a big smile.
"I'm the second cyborg to have the Overburst System, that should interest you." Yosuke said.
Kourin smirked. "It's already more interesting." Kourin prepared a bowl of ramen and placed it in front of Yosuke. "Have a bite to eat, we're going to be talking a lot."
The Cyborg was confused, took a seat and began to eat the bowl, but halfway through he choked on a bite. "What was that?!"
Kourin began cleaning bowls before saying. "A bomb, did you really think I was going to let such a high-ranking guy out of Phoenix without threatening him with death." Kourin turned and saw Yosuke vibrate as the miniature bomb passed through him and fell to the ground. The cook was both stunned and surprised.
"I can move faster than sound so vibrating to have the same consistency as air is simple." Said the Cyborg as Kourin rubbed her eyes in exasperation.
"Oooooooh a bomb." Yukina's reaction won the duo's attention.
Beep*
"Oooooooh it's making noises." Yukina said before Yosuke grabbed the bomb, disappearing for a second before reappearing. "But uh, my bomb."
"You did what?" Kourin asked.
"I put the bomb in an underground Phoenix center that will explode in a se-"
BOOOM*
"That was quicker than I thought." Yosuke said.
Kourin was impressed by what he'd just done. "Yeah, it's okay, no need to prove more."
"So, what do you want me to want to do?" Yosuke asked.
"We're going to talk about all this, basically. Yukina go home, I'm closing the restaurant." Kourin ordered.
"Okie dokie!" Yukina was about to leave, but was stopped by Kourin.
"Give me back the bombs you took from me." Said Kourin.
"But uh, you're no fun." Yukina handed over the bombs she'd stolen before leaving, looking sad.
Yukina returned to the junkyard, but no sooner had she arrived than she saw Kyoshiro dismantling several cars. He was so concentrated that he said nothing when he saw Yukina approach him.
" How's it going, you little nutcase?" Yukina asked, hoping for an answer, but he said nothing. "Metal psychopath? Metal on legs?"
Yukina kept coming up with nicknames for Kyoshiro, but no response came from the Cyborg. "He's weird today, might as well take the opportunity to steal some stuff from his room." Yukina giggled.
The mechanic entered Kyoshiro's room to see that the computer was on. Yukina was drawn to the computer and saw that a video was paused.
"A computer on with a paused video, that would be embarrassing for someone to see." Yukina grinned devilishly.
The video showed Kyoshiro tied to the pole of a warehouse, and Yukina saw each of the Phoenix lieutenants and their leader, Dan, enter the warehouse. Kyoshiro and the four Phoenix members began to chat, but sadly for Yukina, the video failed to capture the discussion. It took a few seconds for the mechanic to realize that it was a video of Phoenix's betrayal of Kyoshiro.
"Oh wow... I didn't think he had the video." Yukina said.
Yukina watched as Shiryu tore off her left arm with ease, breaking into a cold sweat as Kyoshiro's blood flew around the warehouse and her cries of pain cut through the silence. As soon as the screams stopped, she saw Koto advance towards Kyoshiro, held a grenade in his remaining hand and as soon as she left, the grenade exploded, ripping off his right arm. The cries of pain resumed as Yukina's stomach churned at the violence.
Kyoshiro didn't have time to stop screaming when Jack, a child, came along and cut his right shin - this time, he didn't even have enough strength to scream.
A truck arrived, surprising Yukina, but she was even more surprised when two capsules containing two mannequins, one adult-sized and the other child-sized, stepped out.
At the sight of his dummies, and despite the lack of most of his limbs and the enormous loss of blood, Kyoshiro tried to free himself from his bonds. "I'LL GUT YOU, YOU SONS OF BITCHES ! I'LL DISEMBOWEL YOU ! I'LL HUNT Y'ALL TO MY LAST BREATH !" he shouted, which surprised Yukina.
When Kyoshiro had told the story, he'd said the pods had Yosuke and Sakura, but yet the surveillance video showed the opposite. She tried to think why this was the case, and finally understood.
"Koto used her hypnotic voice to make it look like the dummies were Kyoshiro's family!" She said as if she'd had a stroke of genius. "She must also have used it to make him forget that! That's why he didn't know that." A silence filled the room after this revelation. "What do I do with this information now?" Yukina thought for a few seconds before getting an idea and running outside.
As dusk fell, Kyoshiro had finally stopped dismantling the carcasses in the junkyard. Covered in motor oil, he needed to let off steam after discovering such a revelation, and dismantling carcasses was the only thing on his mind.
"First I thought it was for the money, but no, then I thought it was for my family, but apparently he made no advances on Sakura and even hid that he was Yosuke's uncle, that's not it either." Kyoshiro wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Then why did Dan do all this?"
Kyoshiro gnawed his thumb as he thought, but all he managed to do was remove the artificial skin from his prosthesis. While deep in thought, a can of coffee appeared before his eyes, surprised, he followed the hand holding the can to see that it was Yukina who had a bag full of snacks with her.
"What do you want?" Kyoshiro asked.
"It's a present." Said Yukina.
"For what?" Kyoshiro asked suspiciously.
"To apologize for two things. The first thing I'm sorry for is snooping around your room." Yukina replied.
"Just like every day." Kyoshiro opened the can and began to drink.
Yukina sat down next to Kyoshiro. "And the second is that I saw the recording of how you lost your legs and arms. I'm so sorry for what happened to you..." Yukina opened and began nibbling on a doriyaki.
"You're the first to tell me, even my own kid didn't tell me." Kyoshiro said.
"He must still be coming to grips with the situation." Yukina handed Kyoshiro a snack.
"So what's it like to see a guy get dismembered?" The question sent shivers down Yukina's spine, as she recalled in vivid detail the gruesome way Kyoshiro had lost his limbs. "That's what I thought." Kyoshiro picked up a new can and began to drink it. "Changing the subject, have you figured out what happened?" Yukina nodded.
"It wasn't hard to figure out that Koto had hypnotized you." Replied the mechanic.
"Yep, lucky for me I had some fun with her before she died," said Kyoshiro. Said Kyoshiro. "For 50 years, I've been thinking about avenging my family because those four bastards took her away from me. Now that I know they're alive, I feel a little better."
"Better in the sense that you're not going to kill your brother?" Yukina asked.
"Oh no, I'm going to, I'm still mad at him for depriving me of my limbs and using me as a guinea pig for 10 years. I already know how I'm going to kill him." Kyoshiro replied with an almost concerned calm. "But I feel better that my family's still alive, that's all. I'm going to kill Dan and then I'm done."
"Just Dan? Not Jack?" Yukina asked.
"No, after we finished watching the video, Yosuke told me he'd take care of him. I trust him." Kyoshiro replied.
"Why?" Yukina asked curiously.
"His voice was calm and without any hesitation when he said that. Nothing more." Kyoshiro finished the last of the coffee. "Next time have some beer, plus this brand of coffee sucks."
"But uh! I love this brand!" Yukina retorted.
"Tomorrow I'll make you real coffee, not this sock juice." Kyoshiro got up, went to a basin of water he'd prepared and tried to get all the motor oil off him. He scrubbed his face so hard that what little dye remained in his hair disappeared to show his mane as red as fire and as bright as the sun.
"Seriously, why did you hide such beautiful hair? I've never seen such a beautiful mane." Yukina asked.
"If you must know, during the 40s and 50s, being a child and teenager with hair so easy to recognize didn't help one grow up peacefully. So to be on the safe side, my mother would force us to cover our hair with soot or charcoal to hide it." Kyoshiro began to wipe his face with a towel.
"Not only that, but we're not that normal." Kyoshiro recognized the voice, raised his head, but was sideswiped and fell to the ground, while the towel also fell to hide his face.
Kyoshiro removed the towel quickly and was extremely surprised to see Hana looking as if he'd seen a ghost.
"Hello, Hana!" Yukina said childishly.
"Yo, kiddo." Replied the Yakuza.
"How the hell are you still alive, hag?!" Kyoshiro asked, but all he got in reply was a kick to his crotch from Hana.
"That's how you talk to your big sister!" With each word she delivered another kick to Kyoshiro, who ended up rolling on the ground in pain. "You little punk."
"Bitch... that's a low blow." Kyoshiro said through the pain. He stood up with great difficulty. "What do you want?"
"Yukina begged me to come, so I came." Hana replied.
"How long have you known each other?!" Kyoshiro asked in surprise.
"A few days, no more." replied the Yakuza. "But she's a funny kid, I like her."
Kyoshiro turned to Yukina and asked. "Why did you ask her to come?!"
"I wanted us to talk a bit, after all, we've made quite a mess. You killed Koto and Shiryu, you and Yosuke are going to fight Dan and Jack. That's no mean feat, especially when Dan's a bit of a 'Master of the World' given that he's the head of Phoenix." Yukina replied.
Kyoshiro looked Hana straight in the eye and asked. "Are you going to try and stop us?"
Hana didn't lower her gaze and answered firmly. "As I told the kid, what's going on between you and Dan, is not my problem, fight like the children you are. The only thing I did was stop a scientist who'd just arrived for Phoenix that was about to join them."
"So what, you stopped him to prevent Dan from continuing his experiments?" Kyoshiro questioned.
"No, I stopped him to stop Phoenix from growing in power, I don't care about you two, but Phoenix is a serious problem to stop." Hana replied.
"So you're going to stop Phoenix, but not Dan and me, you think you're the referee of our bullshit?" Kyoshiro asked.
"Exactly, like the old man used to do. The first one to give up has been forced to give up or knocked out has lost, but I know that neither of you is going to give up, and I don't want your little war to go on hurting innocent people who have nothing to do with your bullshit." Hana replied.
The two Komogawa looked at each other intensely, and you could feel the tension building between them.
Kyoshiro smiled broadly before saying. " Good, give him a date then."
"And the place?" Hana asked.
"We both know what spot he's going to choose." Kyoshiro retorted.
"I'll be back then." Hana was about to leave, but a young man ran towards her.
The young man was in his early twenties, with platinum-blond hair slicked back and emerald-green eyes. Like Hana, he wore a suit, but his was simpler, having only a white suit jacket and pants with a leopard print shirt. The young man's expression almost seemed to show that he was pissed off, but his presence showed an Olympian calm.
"What do you want, Ryuu? I said I was taking the day off." Said Hana.
"Sorry, Mother. A child I met told me she wanted an autograph from you and I had to bring her one." Replied the young man as he handed Hana a piece of paper.
"You're really too nice for this job, you know that." Hana, tired of Ryuu, autographed the paper before handing it back.
"Wait a second, he called you "mother"?" Kyoshiro asked in surprise.
Hana almost giggled at the question. "I knew I'd forgotten something. Kyoshiro, say hello to your nephew, Ryuu."
Ryuu walked towards Kyoshiro with serene calm. The Cyborg noticed that Ryuu's eyes, which gave him such a somber expression, were filled with enormous kindness.
"I've heard a lot about you, from the stories Mother tells. It's a pleasure to meet you." Ryuu said calmly, wanting to shake Kyoshiro's hand.
"It's a pleasure..." Says Kyoshiro almost confused.
"I hope to see you again soon, I must give this gift to the young lady who asked me for it." Ryuu left as quickly as he had come, while Kyoshiro was still confused by what had just happened.
"So what do you think of the kid?" Hana asked snidely.
"I can't help thinking of the old man when I see him, they look the same." Kyoshiro replied.
"I thought the same thing, well, I'll leave you to it, I've got to find my husband before I go and see Dan." Said Hana as she mounted a motorcycle.
"Wait you're married?!" Kyoshiro asked confusedly, but the only answer he received was the dust Hana's motorcycle left behind as it left.
Yukina, who had been watching the whole scene, could only laugh at Kyoshiro's reaction.
"So how does it feel to learn that you're an uncle?" The mechanic asked.
"I don't care about that! I want to know who successfully knocked up and married my sister! The guy who did this really has no survival instinct!" Kyoshiro said, making Yukina burst out laughing.
Dan was in his office filling out paperwork when he received a call from his secretary, Danielle.
"Mr. Komogawa, your sister is here to see you." Danielle said.
"Good, send her in". Dan replied.
Hana entered Dan's office, but her suit leg and gloves were covered in blood. Hana carelessly sat down in front of Dan's desk and even poured herself a glass of Whisky.
"How's it going, midget?" Hana asked.
"Pretty well, I'd say." Dan replied. "How about you?"
"Yeah pretty quiet, three of your guys tried to stop me so I broke their jaws." replied Hana.
"Do you have anything else to tell me?" Dan asked.
"Yeah, the first thing, I got your scientist because my guys found a ton of cocaine with him, which is hilarious because it was literally A TON of cocaine." Hana chuckled.
"Keep it then, Phoenix doesn't accept junkies." Dan replied as quickly as coldly.
"Cool, my guys were bored." Hana was sending a message before saying. "Secondly, I'm fed up with this war between you and Kyoshiro so I've decided to play referee. Kyoshiro has already agreed, and after you, I have to go and see your kids. So decide on a day to go and go get fight to the death for all i care."
"Well, that'll be in a week then." Dan pulled a box from his desk. "Give this to Ryuu, I've had reports he's looking for this to help a woman."
Hana sighed exasperatedly. "I swear this kid is too good for this world, he helps everyone without ever asking for anything, already taking care of an orphanage in his spare time."
"I really wonder how you managed to get him, he's too different from us." Dan replied.
"All that kindness comes from his father's side, we're too selfish to think of others ourselves." Hana chuckled as she finished her drink and stood up. "Just so I know, your kid, where is he?"
"Usually he's in a bar, but lately he's been spending his time at the north barracks." Dan replied.
"Thanks for the information, kid." Said Hana as she left.
Late at night, when it was downpouring hard, Yosuke had just come out of a convenience store to buy some cigarettes. He crouched down in front of the convenience store to hide from the rain and lit a cigarette. He was still shocked to learn the truth about why his father had disappeared. Yosuke wanted more than ever to stop Dan, but his only plan was to help Kourin.
"Hey, got a cigarette to lend?" Hana asked as she arrived.
"Oh yeah, sure!" Yosuke handed Hana a cigarette, but he was confused Hana. "This is going to sound weird, but haven't we met before?"
"Yeah, but you were still a kid." Hana replied.
"Excuse me?" Yosuke asked.
"My name is Hana Komogawa and I'm your father's older sister." Hana replied, continuing to smoke.
"Oh wow, sorry but that's a little hard to believe." Said Yosuke.
"Ask your dad when you see him, I'm here to tell you that Dan and Kyoshiro will be fighting in a week's time and it's the same for you and Jack, whether you like it or not. I finally want this fight between your father and uncle to stop." Says Hana.
"Why do me and Jack have to fight? We could just talk." Yosuke retorted.
"Do what you want, but this family feud ends in a week." Just as she finished her cigarette. A cab with Ryuu at the wheel arrived. "Since when have you been driving a cab?"
"It's to get a grant for the orphanage." At this reply Hana rubbed her eyes in exasperation.
"Just take me home." She said as she climbed into the cab.
No sooner had the cab left than Yosuke tried to understand what had just happened. In the end, he decided to continue smoking until the rain stopped.
