Bittersweet Vengeance-Ch 22
A few minutes later when they arrived at Carlos's clinic he smiled as he led them inside, he hugged Dave and said, "it's been quite a while my friend, it's good to see you again", Dave said, "yes my friend, it's good to see you, I'm just sorry that it's under these conditions", Carlos nodded his head yes and said, "so true, so true".
After talking to Penelope he looked at everybody and said, "okay so I'll draw some blood, check her urine and go an ultrasound along with giving her a very extensive exam", Penelope tensed up and said, :"I I I don't want to be alone", Carlos said, "how about I let 1 person go in with you, would that make you feel better?", she weakly smiled and nodded her head yes.
Penelope looked at Derek and said, "h h hotstuff, will you go with me?", he took her by the hand and said, "absolutely sweet lady, absolutely", Carlos smiled and said, "alright, we'll be back in a little while", Penelope smiled at her family and then her, Derek and Carlos disappeared down the hall.
While they sat waiting Dave said, "alright kid, now that Derek and Penelope are out of hearing range, who is it that you think is helping Sam?", Reid said, "Savannah", Emily said, "well that does make sense because she wanted Derek as much as Sam wanted Penelope", Fran said, "that's sickening, they put that poor girl through so much for what, for the satisfaction of breaking them up?", Reid said, "sadly yes".
Meanwhile, Penelope had already had her blood drawn and she gave a urine specimen and was currently having her blood pressure and heart rate checked, Carlos looked at her and said, "your vitals are pretty good considering what you've been through", Penelope sighed and relaxed as Carlos pulled up his portable ultrasound machine.
He looked at Penelope and said, "can you raise your shirt for me please?", she said, "sure" and raised it to the top of her belly, he said, "this is going to be cold", she said, "ohhhhhhhhhh" when the cold gel touched her skin, he said, "I'm so sorry about that" as he smeared the gel over her baby bump with the ultrasound wand.
They watched as a picture of the baby appeared on the screen in front of them, Carlos said, "okay, yes, he or she is just fine", Penelope said, "that's good, that's so so good to know", Carlos said, "would you like to hear the babies heartbeat?", Derek and Penelope looked at each other and then him as she said, "yes please".
He hit a few keys and then the swoosh swoosh of the babies heartbeat filled the room, tears streamed down her cheeks as she heart the very steady heartbeat of her baby fill the room, it was hard to believe that she was pregnant, she, her, Penelope Grace Garcia was going to be a mother, now the only question left was who was the father, that was a question that they hoped Carlos would be able to help with.
Carlos looked at them and said, "would you like a picture of the ultrasound?", Penelope said, "yes please, 1 for me and 1 for Derek?", Carlos said, "no problem, it wasn't long before both Derek and Penelope were holding an ultrasound picture of the baby that was currently growing happily inside Penelope.
Derek looked at him and said, "so how are they?", Carlos said, "they are both in amazing health, considering what they've been through", Derek said, "how long will it take to get the blood results back?", he said, "they should be back now, why don't the two of you re-join the others and I'll join you with the results".
Derek and Penelope nodded their heads yes and after helping her off of the exam table, they walked hand in hand back out to where the others had been patiently waiting for them where they were met with the question, "how are they?", Derek smiled and said, "they are both doing great considering what has happened over the past 5 plus months.
Fran and the others blew out breaths of relief and Fran said, "what about the blood results?", Carlos walked around the corner and said, "I have them here", Reid said, "what drugs were found in her system?", Carlos said, "a very very small amount of scopolamine was found but nothing else".
JJ said, "it's where we've had her away from him for almost 55 hours, he hasn't been able to drug or use the phrase to keep her under his control", Penelope looked at Carlos and said, "can you tell me how far along I am?", Carlos said, "of course", he looked down at the paper in his hands and smiled as he looked them over.
He then looked up and said, "how long did you say she had been gone?", Derek said, "almost 5 1/2 months, why?", Carlos said, "well in that case I have some good news for you", Penelope said, "good news, yes please, we could definitely use some of that", he laughed and then glanced back down at the paper before looking at the anxious family.
Carlos looked at Penelope and said, "Penelope you are almost 30 weeks along, that's 6 1/2 months pregnant", Reid smiled and said, "so that means that?", Carlos said, "yes, you did not become pregnant while you were being held captive, you were already pregnant", Penelope looked at Carlos and said, "so that means that Derek is the father of this baby?", everybody cheered when he said, "yes".
Derek pulled her into his arms and kissed her passionately, when they pulled apart he said, "we're going to have a baby", she laughed and said, "that we are, that we are", she then looked at Carlos and said, "thank you, thank you so much", he said, "you are very welcome".
Dave said, "thank you my friend and I'm sure that I don't have to tell you to keep this between us for now?", he said, "no, no you don't, right now the most important thing is to keep Penelope and the baby safe", Dave said, "alright kitten let's get out of here, you must be starving?", she said, "I am, can we have pizza?", Derek laughed and said, "sweetness, you can have anything you want".
Carlos then stood watching as the family made their way out of his clinic, he was glad that things had worked out for Penelope, she had been through so much and deserved to have a little good news and peace, he sighed happily as he watched the very happy family disappear out of sight.
