"What do you mean?" I question slightly nervous
"There was an alert wasn't there, how come you were out in the middle of the forest, you should have been heading for the nearest Pokecentre" Daisy says coldly
"Oh well, Sudowoodo was getting attacked I couldn't just leave it on its own"
"I see, is that right Sudowoodo?" Daisy questions
"Sudo" He confirms
"I see"
"Don't be abrasives Dais, Dustin was just trying to help out, he's a good kid"
"You see though Dustin, how wrong it can go" Daisy says coldly
"Wrong?"
"If you had lost your phone you would have no way to contact us, you could have been left alone in the forest for days"
"I didn't think of that" I mumble looking down at my injured leg
"Daisy stop, you gonna freak him out" Ryan says stoking the fire
"All I'm saying is, this could have been a serious situation"
"It could have been but it wasn't everything was sorted in the end" Ryan says raising his brows
"No Daisy is right"
They both look at me in slight shock
"I made a mistake, I could have headed to a nearer centre when I heard the alert and I didn't, I wanted to make more progress toward Goldenrod and if I hadn't none of this would have happened"
"I'm sorry" I say looking up at the pair of them
They both nod before a wry smile come across Ryan's face
"So do you want to tell Dustin about the time you got stuck in the Snowpoint wildness for three days?" He says looking at Daisy
"Heh really funny" She says sarcastically back at him
"You should have seen it, I had to fly in on Talonflame and save her"
"Ryan! Like you haven't made any mistakes!" She spits back at him
"I didn't say that" He sighs before looking at me
"Right look, I can't say that it wasn't a dangerous situation it was, however you can't let this effect you too much. You will make mistakes, everyone does, but there's nothing you can do that we can't sort out. Your still on the junior track, there are plenty of route trainers around to protect you aswell as Rangers. Take risks kiddo and don't be afraid to ask us for help." He says looking at me with a smile
"Any you, stop worrying, I know your anxious but you can't put those on Dustin or perhaps another member of the family who just started there journey" He says with accusing eyes
She sighs deeply and stuffing a mouthful of food
"This is what she does when she knows I'm right, is that right Lucario?"
"Lu Lu!"
"Don't you start!" She barks at Ryan Lucario who jolts
"Altar!" Altaria bellows in confirmation of Ryan point
"Traitor!" She shouts sarcastically
"Um can I ask, whose just started a journey?" I question
"My niece Poppy, she just turned 14 and has just finished on her first journey in Sinnoh"
"Oh I see and you're worried?"
She look up at me and smiles
"A little, same for you too"
"Why are you worried about me?" I question
She furrows her brow in confusion
"Why wouldn't we be?" Ryan questions
"Well, I'm just me I guess, its not like we are family or anything"
"Hey! You may not be blood but we care about you Dustin, we want you too do well and with everything you've been through we want to be here to support you" Daisy says
"Really?"
"You sure you didn't hit your head earlier?" Ryan questions
"Well thank both of you"
"Right, lets change the subject, do you have any question Dustin?" Daisy asks
"What do you mean?"
She mid mouthful waves towards Ryan
"It not like you get access to the world champion for a few hours on your own, plus it means he won't unload to me about boring battling stuff" She says
I laugh while Ryan looks offended at her
"I'm hurt, I thought you loved my PowerPoint on why Crasher Wake is a top ten trainer"
"Half of it was just he has a cool mask and sings" She snorts
"The mask is cool though" He says eyes lighting up which causes us both to laugh
I take a moment and contemplate
"Were you scared when you first started?" I ask
He places his empty bowl down and leans back on his hands
"Not scared per say, I was defiantly nervous, it was a lot scarier back in the day to head off on your own"
"I see"
"Are you scared?" Daisy questions
"No, to begin with maybe but with the junior routes its pretty easy"
"Yeah, the PBL have done a real great job on that these days, Charles has a lot to do with that" Ryan adds
"Uh, what's your strongest Pokemon" I ask trying to think up other questions
"Come on, lets not be basic kiddo" Ryan laughs
"Okay well, have you ever met any Legendary Pokemon, like not battled but met with"
"Yeah, should ask Daisy, she has twelve"
Daisy snorts before shooting Ryan a stare
"Which we aren't meant to talk about"
"Oh sorry I won't tell anyone I promise" I stammer out quickly
"Oh don't worry about it, Dustin part of the family its fine"
She sighs deeply
"You know I have caught Articuno, I also have the other two Zapdos and Moltres. I have the 5 Regis as well as the Galarian birds"
"Thats eleven isn't it?" I questions
She dart her eyes from me to Ryan
"Show him, she would probably like to meet him"
She sighs and pulls up her phone before summoning a ball, She touches it to her knee and a small bundle drops into her lap
"Shay!"
"A Shaymin!" I shout before covering my mouth
"Yeah, I found this little one back in Sinnoh when I did my journey, I helped it along on its migration, I caught it a few months ago when we met up again" She says before darting a stare at Ryan
"Your turn"
"What do you mean?" He questions with a smirk
"Don't play dumb"
"According to all records the only legendaries I own are Melmetal and Zeraora which I am allowed to use in battle"
"You have a Melmetal?!" I ask with excitement
"Yeah, I had both him and Zeraora in Alola, Zera is a roamer though, I only caught him so others couldn't like Daisy did with hers except Shaymin"
"But" Daisy interrupts
"Fine" Ryan says summoning his own ball
He lights it up and releases
"Lati!"
A Latias appears a coos loudly, Espeon jumps to its heads nuzzling into it before Latias spots Ryan and brushes up to him
"So cool" I say in awe
"Lati?"
It calls out before immediately turning invisible
"He's already seen you, you can't turn invisible now!" Ryan bellows
Latias reappears but huddles behind Ryan
"Its fine this is Dustin our friend he won't hurt you"
"Lati…" It coos nervously
"Dustin are you able to walk at all?"
"Uh I can try to hobble" I say pulling myself up
He stands up and grabs my hand, helping me over while Latias moves a bit closer, Ryan places his hand on Latias fore head before putting mine atop his
"Hes a good kid" he says pulling his hand away so mine is on Latias
Latias glows blue and eyes gone blank white but in a second its gone and it smiles widely pushing itself into me
"See told you" Ryan laughs
"Its nice too meet you Latias"
"Lat"
"Where did you catch her?" I question
"Alto Mare, it is one of the only single births they have had in 500 years, normally Latias and Latios are born as pairs together, they then live together as brother and sister. Its very abnormal for only one to be born, its believed that when a single child is born then they are destined to find a trainer to accompany them, just so happen Lati chose me"
"You did save her from hunters too" Daisy adds as Shaymin begins to nap in her lap
"There's that too" He adds before Latias begins to look at my knee
"Oh, uh yeah I hurt myself but I'll be okay"
"Lati!"
Latias glows a mixture of blue and pink before breathing out a stream of same coloured energy
I feel my body taken over by something akin to a hit of adrenaline, the pain in my knee sweeps away and the swelling become visibly less
"Oh yeah, Latias has Heal Pulse I didn't even think of that, good work girl" Ryan says with a laugh before patting Latias
I tap my leg to the ground
"There's no pain at all, that's amazing" I say jumping up and down
"Thank you so much Latias"
"Lati!" It calls out happily before spotting Sudowoodo
It zooms up looking him over causing Sudowoodo to slightly baulk and shy away
"Lati.." It coos sadly
Its eyes go blank again and we are all enveloped in a deep blue tone, it projects up onto the far side of the box. It shows a great open space surrounded by massive forest, the field is filled with abundant forest flowers, bushes and ferns. Littered around are grass types like Oddish, Bellossom and Bulbasaurs
"Sudo?" Sudowoodo calls out moving up to the side and reaching out to it
"What is this?" I question
"Latias can show memories of a person or Pokemon, however I don't think this is a good idea Lati" Ryan calls out
As he moves forward to try and stop them, into shot comes a huge hulking Arboliva, it dances around the field vitalizing the fields of grass and flowers
"Sudo!" Sudowoodo calls out happily as it comes into shot grabbing its golden ball and holding it up almost showing it off
Suddenly it goes dark and it open up to a scene of horror, the field and forest is a light burning rapidly, the grass type once dancing around are now sprinting away for cover while the Arboliva stand defiantly in the middle of the field
"No" I mumble as the scene continues
"Bons! Bonsly!" echoes around the box
"This is Sudowoodo memory, from when it was a Bonsly" Daisy mutters
Arboliva stands summing earth and thick forest protecting the other grass types as it is hit and stung with fire, the scene gets closer as we assume Sudowoodo sprinted up to try and help. The giant Arboliva is probably no bigger than a normal one but due to Bonslys size it looks huge. Arboliva smiles down at Bonsly lowering its left arm to protect it from flames before sticking one of it olives to Bonsly. Seemingly then Bonsly is dragged away by other grass types as we are pulled away from the situation while cries ring out, the last thing we see is a huge vortex of fire engulf Arboliva like a wave before we come back to the forest we are in. Sudowoodo falls to its knees clutching the orb to its chest
"Lati we need to..."Ryan begins before I move forward and but in
"Thanks Latias, if you hadn't shown us that I don't think Sudowoodo would have ever been able to explain it" I say putting my hand on the legendary Pokemon
Sudowoodo stays crouched down sadly clutching the orb
"So that why you want to help other Pokemon isn't it? Arboliva looked after you and those others, you want to be like them"
"Sudo!" Sudowoodo shouts with tears streaming
"Your amazing Sudowoodo" I say putting my hand on its back
"Um Sudowoodo, would you want to come with me on my journey?"
"Sudo?"
"I want to travel the whole of the Johto region and even more, I'm sure there lots of wild Pokemon all around that could use the help of you and Arboliva orb plus with my team we can make sure Pokemon like Honchkrow don't bother you, you don't have too but I'd love you to come along"
I hold up a Heavy Ball I had required in Azalea Town. Sudowoodo looks down at the orb it holds before smiling at me and nodding slapping the ball with its free arm and being sucked into the ball, it rolls once and click with confirmation
"Welcome Sudowoodo"
With my newly healed leg, I help with clean up and setting up my tent. We spend the rest of the night with Ryan and Daisy regaling tales from when they were a younger trainer before we head off to bed. Ryan asks Espeon and Lucario to sleep in with me in case there's any issue with the rogue flying type. I sleep soundly and quickly, cuddle up with the Egg which seems to become closer to hatching. Its not long before the days lights is hitting the tent, I awake and Espeon is already outside the tent sunbathing, as I come into consciousness I can hear some chatter outside while Lucario snores next to me. I pull myself up and stumble out of the tent after placing the egg back into my backpack, Ryan and Daisy are stood together speaking with someone on the Rotom phone that hovers in front of them, I peak through and see a lady and gentleman on the screen, the man has dark hair and sharp features while the lady has light purple hair and dainty features.
"So you want us to look into things?" Daisy questions
"If you are able, the ranger haven't been able to find anything and there seems to be some shady characters around" the lady responds
"What about Diane? Has the village reported anything?" Ryan asks
"Nothing, only a few trainers who have turned up with beaten up Pokemon" the man answers
"Sudo!"
Sudowoodo screeches and storms up pulling me into a hug alerting to everyone to my presence
"Uh hi" I stammer giving a way as Sudowoodo
"Lucario! You were meant to warn us!" Ryan shouts into the tent
"Lu…" comes a cry before it begins to snore again
"Come here Dustin" Daisy says waving me up with a smile
"Anabel, Looker this is Dustin" She says happily pushing me to the front of them
"Oh Ryan's student, we've heard a lot" Anabel says happily while Looker look slightly more concerned
"Can we get back to the matter at hand?" Looker questions
"Yes Mr stoic policeman" Ryan teases
"This is serious" He retorts
"Well Dustin been in the forest a few days maybe he can help" Anabel says with a smile bringing Looker guard down slightly
"Young man, have you noticed anything particularly out of the ordinary?" Anabel questions
"No Ma'am"
"I see, would you be willing to helps us with this investigation?" She questions further
"Anabel, do you think its a good idea to involve a child?" Looker questions
She turns and responds calmly
"Max helped you in Unova did he not?"
He coughs and nods allowing the conversation to continue
"We've had reports of some nasty individuals and we think they may have been the ones to tempt this rouge flying type to the forest, would you be happy to assist Daisy and Ryan in helping it?"
"of course Ma'am" I respond soundly
"Thanks kiddo" Ryan says ruffling my hair
"Excellent, we will alert the rangers to keep the junior of the trail and you three are to head into the forest together" Anabel says
"You can count on us" Ryan says as she smile and the call clicks off
"Right then Daisy, who are we bringing along?" Ryan questions
