Chapter 553 A Simple Method
The decoration in the Great Hall had changed this morning. Being Halloween, a cloud of live bats fluttered around the enchanted ceiling, while hundreds of carved pumpkins grimaced from every corner.
"I told you, they will definitely not succeed," Hermione said in such a succinct tone.
Everyone approached the long table where Dean and Seamus were already seated. They were discussing those Hogwarts students aged seventeen or older who might be participating in the tournament.
"There's a rumor going around that Warrington got up early in the morning and put his name in," Dean told everyone, "That big guy from Slytherin who looks like a sloth."
Harry, who had played Quidditch against Warrington, shook his head in disgust.
No one had a good impression of Warrington. The big guy had a bad reputation in school.
"We cannot have a Slytherin champion."
"Yes, obviously, it's the worst outcome."
"Ravenclaw, like us, doesn't have good candidates. And all the Hufflepuffs are talking about Diggory," Seamus said disdainfully. "But I didn't think he would want to risk his good looks."
"That's another poor choice. After Percy and his peers graduated, Gryffindor hasn't had standout figures in this period," Ron sighed.
Dean and Seamus finished their breakfast and returned to the entrance to watch, leaving only the five friends at the long table.
The thought of Hogwarts' champion being Diggory or Warrington filled them with sadness.
"Unfortunately, Evan is not authorized to participate, otherwise, they wouldn't stand a chance!" Colin sighed.
"From what I see, Fred and George are better than Warrington and Diggory. If we can circumvent Dumbledore's age limit, we have many options!" Ron exclaimed indignantly, "There must be a way; we just haven't found it yet. Right, Evan?"
Upon hearing his words, the others turned to look at Evan.
Indeed, if there were any young wizard who could find a way to break Dumbledore's magic, it would be Evan.
"Don't look at Evan like that. How many times have I told you that Dumbledore doesn't expect those who don't meet the age requirement to put their names in? The Triwizard Tournament is not child's play. It's very dangerous and we don't have enough knowledge!" Hermione said sharply.
Ron immediately argued with her. He disagreed with Hermione's words and, most importantly, he didn't think Warrington or Diggory should be Hogwarts' champions.
"Stop arguing, you two. It's very simple to put your names in the Goblet of Fire," Evan said, "I can tell you four, but you must keep it secret and not reveal it."
Ron and Hermione immediately fell silent, and Harry and Colin also held their breath and looked at Evan.
"Of course!"
"That goes without saying!"
"We will keep the secret!"
"Speak now!"
Hermione didn't rush him with the other three. She seemed to hesitate, and she also wanted to know how to break that magic.
"Dumbledore's magic cannot be broken. We are not strong enough!" Evan said. "But, remember what he said last night? The age line he drew cannot be crossed by anyone under seventeen, but he didn't say we couldn't have other students who meet the conditions put our names in. This is within the rules. So, you can ask students older than 17 to put their names in instead of you."
"What?" Harry blinked and couldn't believe it. "Is it that simple?"
"Yes, it's that simple," Evan nodded.
He thought about it, and there was nothing to say about this method.
With the strength of Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Colin, even if their names were thrown into the Goblet of Fire, they thought they wouldn't be selected. In terms of magical power and knowledge, the four of them felt relatively weak.
Of course, Harry would be a champion, and his name should have been put into the Goblet of Fire by Barty Crouch Jr.
After learning Evan's method, Ron couldn't wait to try it. Harry and Colin hesitated, while Hermione strongly opposed it.
She was persuading everyone to give up on this idea and not put their names in the Goblet of Fire.
Ron argued again with her and returned to the topic of how disastrous it would be to have a Slytherin as Hogwarts' champion.
Indeed, it was difficult to ensure otherwise. There were truly no prominent figures among the Gryffindor students who met the age requirements.
Even if they were to place their names into the Goblet of Fire, they might not be chosen.
In Ron's view, if that were the case, it was better for him and Harry to give it a try. After all, in recent years, they had accomplished so many great deeds and had shown their strength. Perhaps the Goblet would recognize this.
The discussion continued, and at that moment, there was a loud cheer in the entrance hall.
They turned and saw Angelina Johnson entering the Great Hall, smiling somewhat sheepishly. A tall black girl who played as a chaser in Gryffindor's Quidditch team, Angelina approached them, sat down, and said, "I've done it! I just put my name in!"
"You're kidding!" said Ron, looking impressed.
"Are you seventeen then?"
"Of course I am, can't you see a beard, can you?" said Ron.
"I had my birthday last week," said Angelina.
"I'm glad that someone from Gryffindor is participating," Hermione said with satisfaction, triumphantly looking at Ron; it seemed like this resolved all the issues. "I sincerely hope you succeed in becoming a champion, Angelina!"
"Thank you!" Angelina said, smiling at Hermione.
Ron seemed to not notice Hermione's gaze. Suddenly he said, "Angelina, could you please...?"
Harry quickly stopped him, and Hermione kicked him under the table.
"Please what?!" Angelina said suspiciously.
"Nothing!" Hermione said hastily, gesturing for everyone to leave.
They exited the Great Hall and arrived at a place where no one was with them.
"You're crazy, Ron!" Hermione said, looking at him angrily. "Evan just said not to tell anyone about this. And in less than a minute, you're with Angelina!"
"There is only one way to become champion. It's to ask someone else to do it for us, isn't it?" Ron said nonchalantly, "Angelina and Fred have a good relationship, and she will help us."
