What to expect in this chapter: Gregory is interested in learning sign language from Sun, speaking different languages and playing a Blind Mans Buff to test on his sense of hearing like the blind kids who come to the Daycare. But before he can learn that, Sun wants to help Gregory to stop swearing.

Chapter 6- Blind Man's Buff

"Good morning Sunshine!" Sun greets Gregory once he wakes up from his nap. "What would you like to do to start your morning at the Daycare?"

Gregory gave Sun's question some thought. At first he wanted to do arts and crafts at the start of the morning, but a thought occurred to him as he briefly remembers how dirty and disorganized Sun and Moons room was with all of the toys lying around. If the employees or the S.T.A.F.F. bots were not going to help the Daycare Attendant have a nice good clean room then he and his friends would give a helping hand where it is needed. "I'm thinking spring cleaning. How about we clean up your bedroom Sun?"

Sun was immediately touched by this suggestion as he comments, "Oh Starbeam! You didn't have to think about helping me clean my room! Here I thought you would either want to draw or just relax for the morning before we get started."

Gregory nods his head excitedly. "I think you deserve some attention in making your room nice and cozy. You pretty much need the extra help." With this in mind, Gregory and the gang all join together to clean the Daycare hallway and Sun and Moon's room with each of them splitting up to do a certain job.

It starts pretty simple with Freddy given the job to sweep the floors with a broom and dustpan. Chica takes out the trash and picks up some leftover clothes and sort them in the lost and found box outside the stores. She even goes out of her way to wash the windows and walls around the area. Roxy was given the job to dust the furniture from top to bottom, and sometimes with her special eyesight she could see some spots that either Chica or Freddy missed on their cleaning duties. Now you would think that the Animatronics should not be anywhere near water since that would cause them to be electrocuted and force them to shut down after being in contact. But when Roxy was put in Parts/Service to update on her anti virus software, she mentioned an idea to her bandmates that they should have an update to protect themselves with a waterproof safety mode to equip the Glamrock Animatronics. At least in this way they don't have to worry about being thrown in the water and getting electrocuted.

While the other Animatronics were working downstairs around the Daycare, Gregory's task along with Sun was to organize the room and put the toys and pictures away on a shelf in Sun's room. As Gregory was rearranging the plush dolls in different locations; Freddy dolls to the top right corner, Roxy dolls to the bottom right corner, Chica dolls to the top left corner and Monty's dolls to the bottom left, he spots something peculiar about the Moon doll he was holding in his hands. Studying it carefully, he notices that the dolls eyes were blue, not red like its original counterpart.

Sun can be heard snapping Gregory out of his trance on the doll, "Sunshine, is something the matter?" He stacked a pile of pictures he got over the years from the kids on a nearby shelf when he noticed Gregory wasn't moving to put away the dolls.

"Nothing is the matter," Gregory acknowledges Sun by turning his face to see the Daycare Attendant watching the doll beside him. Quite possibly taking a break with him on cleaning for a moment. "I just found something strange about the doll here. Its odd, but why does this plush doll have blue eyes and not red eyes like Moon? Shouldn't they have the same eyes?"

"Oh! Moon did have blue eyes, but they didn't work well whenever its nighttime in the mall. The staff then decided that he needs something new to help him have better eyesight in the dark, hence the inclusion of the red eyes." Sun explains. Gregory tried to imagine in his head of how Moon would have looked with blue eyes while watching over the kids in the Daycare or when he is out looking for intruders in the Pizzaplex. To him he usually sees blue as a more calming color while red is used like a warning that there is danger.

"Now this makes me curious," Gregory looks back and forth from Sun to the Moon doll in his hands. "Wouldn't the red eye color 'scare' the kids during naptime? I mean, whenever I see red, I usually think that there is a monster out to get me. Blue would make the kids more comfortable don't you think?"

Moon answers through the speaker on Sun to answer Gregory's question. "Unfortunately blue is not helpful to kids when they are trying to sleep in the Daycare. Which is why I was taught to use my red eyes instead. Any regular light would make you strain and squint your eyes while you are trying to sleep. Red has a non-glaring component that makes the child relax and be at ease during naptime."

"I guess that makes sense now that you mention it." Gregory nods his head as he puts the Moon plush doll next to the Freddy plush stack. "Another thing I wanted to know is why do you guys need the bells on your shoes, hat and wrists? Don't they bother you with how much noise they make?"

"They don't bother us." Sun clarifies with a laugh like he thought it was funny coming from Gregory of all people. "The bells actually help us out in the Daycare with the kids, specifically in guiding the blind kids to find us. We also know how to do sign language for the kids who can't speak with their voice."

"Oh. I never thought about that. But what do you guys do when the kid speaks in another language, like if they speak in Spanish for example?" Gregory questions curiously. With each new question Gregory is curious about, he is slowly finding out that the Daycare Attendant is much more entertaining to find out than he realized.

"Why, we can easily adjust our language settings for each of the kids who don't speak English." Sun replies as he puts the damaged S.T.A.F.F. bots to another corner of the room. He organized them by parts; one shelf for the detached arms, one for the heads, one for the broken off wheels and one for the battery packs.

"How come Moon always gets to leave the Daycare and you don't Sun? Wouldn't it be more beneficial if you both got to do it together?" Gregory asks his next question as he checks around the game arcade to see if there was anything else missing to put away but found none.

"I could actually! But I prefer to stay at the Daycare in case a child finds themselves lost with nowhere to go. Plus I don't want to risk any of them thinking I'm not there for them. I want to show that I am dedicated to my job as a caretaker." Sun answers honestly.

"And he gets lost in the Pizzaplex pretty easily." Moon adds. Gregory could hardly imagine that scenario happening. He wondered if whenever he got to the Recharge Stations once the lights came back on how Sun dealt with being out of the Daycare while Moon was looking for him at the time. He never really got a chance to see how that was actually done, but he presumes that Moon had to quickly leave his mission behind until the next black out and take shelter in the Daycare once he transformed back into Sun.

"Do you think you can teach me how to do sign language and speak in another language once we are done cleaning up?" Gregory asks as he goes to put the tent and the chairs in another spot around the room.

Sun beams with a smile. "Of course I can teach you, Starbeam!" They resume cleaning up in Sun's room until everything is clean as a whistle. But once everything is situated Sun takes Gregory back downstairs to the Daycare as he was going to find a good spot to start teaching the boy some languages that they can do for the day.

But that was until Gregory accidentally steps on a building block, now normally he would have his shoes on throughout running around the Plex, but lately he has been making himself at home where he doesn't wear his shoes while he is in the Daycare. And we all know what happens once you step on something that is hard like a building block, making you either cry out in pain or scream. For Gregory however, stepping on something sharp causes a different reaction, one that is not appropriate in the Daycare.

"Dammit-!" Gregory starts to swear when he felt the pain of stepping on the block, but just by the sound of his voice it quickly made Sun react in abject horror and rushes to cover Gregory's mouth from finishing the word, all the while pulling the building block away from the floor so that Gregory doesn't step on it again. It was revealed that Chica forgot to grab the building block as she was putting the toys away, so she spotted the block in Sun's hand and quickly takes it to put away.

"No! No! NO Sunshine! No swearing in the Daycare! That kind of language is against the rules!" Sun scolds lightly as he could see Gregory stare at him in annoyance for a moment once he pulls his hand away from the boys mouth.

"I thought you only had one rule to keep the lights on." Gregory said as he rubs his right foot. He notices that Freddy and Roxy didn't hear anything going on as they were just finishing up with their part of cleaning up the Daycare and then coming inside for a break. He wasn't sure if Chica heard him curse at the building block while she was freshening things up in the Daycare, but judging by the scared look in her eyes, she is trying to ignore what she had just heard.

"Yes, that was when Moony was not acting normal. But now that he is back to normal I don't need to go for that rule anymore. I am sure that Freddy told you about watching your language, especially if you say those naughty words in front of the kids." Sun crosses his arms sternly.

"Well you probably can't get me to stop saying bad words. Its like a habit of mine to say those things whenever I get a cut or bruise." Gregory points out. Sun and Moon are pretty familiar with trying to help kids to overcome their bad habits whenever they take care of them, and Gregory is just one of those kids who can't help but use profane language, whether out of the blue or because they thought it is cool to say, but it is still inappropriate and not very nice words all the same! Forget teaching Gregory different languages, they need to help the kid in getting rid of this bad habit altogether before he uses it on another language!

There have been at times when they try to help a kid to stop picking their nose, and other times they try to keep a kid from chewing on their fingernails and toenails. Some keep tapping their fingers on a smooth surface when they need to keep quiet while everyone is taking their nap. Some feel the need to jiggle something in their pocket. There are even some who feel the need to say yes to everything when they should say no once in a while. Sun would try to keep their attention onto another subject and keep them so busy that they don't have time to do those bad habits. Moon would try to either scare them straight on what happens when they keep doing their bad habits without giving it a break, but that was for when they keep ignoring his warnings or explain to them that they can't keep doing that. Some of the bad habits were pretty easy to counter against, but others were a lot more harder to take down. Usually for the kids who use swearing as a bad habit, the usual punishment would be a time out, but Roxy came to Sun's rescue in finding a perfect solution to Gregory's swearing problem.

"How about using a swear jar?" She suggests as Sun quirks his right eye in curiosity. "In my Raceway, my employers and I have encountered the same situation with the disappointed racers who feel the need to lash out with naughty words. I will demonstrate how it works," She takes out an empty jar and puts it in between Sun and Gregory. "If Gregory can keep himself from saying a swear word, the jar will stay empty. But if he lets one of those bad words out of his mouth, then he needs to put a dollar for each word he utters into the jar. Start with one dollar first, then gradually go to five dollars, to ten and a hundred depending on how high the stakes you want to go."

"Do you think that can work Roxy?" Sun asks as he looks at her with a worried look on his face. What if this tactic doesn't work out in their favor? There have been times where he and Moon tried with all of their might to get a kid to stop their bad habit, but there are some that will still do it no matter how many times they tell them to stop.

Roxy nods her head. "If it puts a stop to the cursing in my Raceway, then it should work the same for our Hot Shot." Sun should feel relieved that the wolf Animatronic knows what she has experienced in the past, especially since that she is the most exposed to it unlike the other Animatronics. Chica never had to worry about hearing anyone curse in her Mazercise location or in the kitchens, since people spend more time eating food than talking. Freddy doesn't hear anyone shouting swear words whether in a concert or at Fazerblast. Sun and Moon would only get a kid who says those words once or twice.

"I don't even have any money to put in the swear jar!" Gregory proclaims as he looks at Roxy with a sly smirk, thinking he can get away from doing anything with the swear jar.

"Then why do I see $2,000 hiding in your pajamas Superstar?" Freddy interrupts as he shows Gregory and Sun the amount of money he found hiding inside of the Moon pajama cap that Gregory was hiding in his clothes shelf. The boys face turned a bright red in embarrassment once he learned he wasn't going to get away from the swear jar all the while Sun was giving him a gotcha smile and slanting one eye in a tease.

Three hours later, Gregory learned real fast to not swear any curse words in the Daycare ever again as he put all of that money he found during his past adventures in the Pizzaplex into the swear jar. He watches in silent agony while the dollars were piled high in the jar, almost spilling out from the top. "And here I thought I was going to use that on Fazerblast later on."

"There is always a next time Superstar." Freddy rubs Gregory's head as if to console him for putting all that money in the jar. He could see Sun smiling from ear to ear as he saw all of the money he and Roxy just collected. "What do you propose we should do with the money Roxy?"

"I would guess we can use it for just about anything Freddy." Roxy says as she volunteers to carry the jar and keep one hand on top to keep the money from spilling out. "You could maybe use it for a new microphone, or Sun can use it for his love of glitter glue or for one of his activities he wants in the Daycare."

"Glitter glue! Glitter glue! Glitter glue! Glitter glue!" Sun can be heard murmuring in fascination for his glitter glue while drumming his fingertips together. Very briefly Moon could be heard in the speaker saying he wants more blankets and pillows for naptime. There are just so many possibilities on what to get with all of that money.

"Can we try some sort of game where I try to locate you or Moon just on the sound of your bells?" Gregory suggests to Sun while scratching his head for a bit.

"You mean Marco Polo, right Sunshine?" Sun corrects, making Gregory wonder what the game name even means as he silently stares at him. Sun explains in detail of what the game is about since he knows Gregory is not used to knowing about any of the Daycare activities or games yet. "That is the game where the player who is 'it' has to close their eyes and rely only on their hearing to locate the other players. The one who is it usually calls out 'Marco!' and the other players say "Polo!' and the it player has to use their sense of hearing to tag the other players. But since we are not in a pool and on land, we will play Blind Man's Buff, in this game the it player has a blindfold over their eyes and must catch the other players using their sense of hearing and touch."

"I think I get it. I wanted to test out my sense of hearing and see if I can locate either you or Moon like a blind person." Gregory said as he nods his head at what Sun is telling him. "Do you have anything that can be used as a blindfold?"

"I have just the thing Sunshine!" Sun smiles gleefully as he takes out a dark red blindfold and carefully wraps it around Gregory's eyes. "There! We will start our Blind Man's Buff game with the lights on first. Then we can try it out in the dark with Moon. We will do a couple of different rounds with the gang first before you take me on." Gregory nods as he holds his hands out, eager to get going on the game. It will be interesting for him to see how well he does in trying to locate Sun and Moon while blindfolded. But to hear that Freddy, Chica and Roxy will join in on the fun will be quite an interesting task.

The first round is Freddy. Gregory does his best to listen closely to the sound of Freddy's feet and the direction of his voice when he calls to the bear 'Blind mans..." with Freddy answering 'Buff!'. Slowly he tries to venture to the left and then calls again, figuring out that Freddy has moved again, this time to the right. As he keeps calling to Freddy in the Blind Man's Buff he studies his movements carefully even with the blindfold on to maneuver himself around the Daycare. Right. Right. Center. Left. Left. Right. He manages to succeed in touching Freddy's knees as he takes the blindfold off for a moment to see Freddy giving him a thumbs up.

"Way to go Superstar!" Freddy says as Gregory's first round of Blind Man's Buff was over. So far during the first round, Freddy was careful to make sure that Gregory could try to locate him by staying near the bridge where the ball-pit was located. He didn't want to make things too difficult for the first round, for he knows that the others will make it a little bit more challenging. "I knew you could do it!"

Chica was in charge of the second round. She was a little more easier to detect based on her loud voice box, which she had to tone down a little bit for the game so that it didn't blow Gregory's ears off. Nevertheless she did prove to be a bit difficult to catch especially since she led Gregory to the ball-pit and had him go in different directions, at least until Sun says that they can't be in the ball-pit for the duration of the game, saying that they need to stay near land. Freddy led both of them back out of the ball-pit and had Chica stay within the perimeter of the blue paddings. Left. Right. Center. Right. Left. Center. Center. Right. Right. Left. With not too much difficulty, Gregory touches Chica's green and purple leggings on her knees as he could hear her giggle in delight over the game.

It was Roxy's turn next, only this time she wanted Freddy and Chica to join her and try to confuse Gregory's sense of hearing in order for him to try to find her and catch her. Thanks to his knowledge of distinguishing between the three voices, Freddy's is deep, Chica's is high, while Roxy is a comfortable alto. He did have to maneuver himself around the play structures once or twice to get around them after accidentally bonking into one, which he just brushes off and continues. Sun did have to remind Roxy that she should not try to make the game too difficult for Gregory since he wouldn't know to go around the structures to reach her. Left. Left. Right. Left. Right. Right. Left. Center. Center. Right. Left. Center. Left. Left. Right. Right. Center. After about fifteen minutes, Gregory finally reaches out to touch Roxy's fluffy white tail, making her yelp in surprise. "Gah! You got me kid!" Roxy pretends to act like she got hit when he touched her tail as he peeks under the blindfold to look at her smiling at him in a tease.

Now the real fun was getting started on the fourth round. This time it is with Sun. While Freddy, Roxy and Chica were calling 'Buff' in the game when Gregory calls them, he could hear the bells on Sun's shoes. It was soft and echoed right behind him. He turns to the sound and walks toward it while holding his hands out. Left. Right. Left. Right. Behind him. He turns to try to catch Sun but misses as he could hear the jester giggling softly in the background. Center. Center. Right. Left. Right. Left. Behind him. Once more he tries to catch the jester but this time he could hear Sun gently say to him, "Almost got it Sunshine!"

"I will get you if its the last thing I do Sunny!" Gregory giggles as he follows the bell sounds on Suns wrists. After about twenty minutes of being led around the Daycare just trying to catch Sun, he finally decides to grab Sun's attention by accidentally knocking down the play towers around the Daycare, making Sun stop playing for a moment to clean up the mess. Once that got Sun close to him, Gregory takes his chance and grabs Sun from behind, just as he finished putting the tower back together. "I finally got you!"

"You little sneak! You beat me at my own game! But don't celebrate too soon, Sunshine. You still need to see if you can catch Moon in Blind Man's Buff." Sun forewarns as he playfully wags his finger at Gregory.

"Do you want one of us to turn the lights off Sun?" Chica calls from the other side of the Daycare. Sun decides that Freddy will turn off the lights and tells the other Animatronics to take a break near the Security Desk so that they can watch and see if Gregory can catch Moon in the final round of Blind Man's Buff. Roxy lounges on the top shelf of the desk, while Freddy just stands to attention near the light switch and Chica takes a seat on the chair.

Freddy turns the lights off and Gregory could feel that Sun was moving away from him in the dark. This time he has to find Moon through the darkness of the Daycare while being blindfolded. He hears Moon's quiet laughter from behind him as he turns around to try to catch him, but he misses as he listens closely to the bells echoing in the silence. Right. Left. Right. Left. Behind him. He tries to use the play tower distraction again, and for a while it did work until he tries to touch Moon, only for the nighttime jester to dodge him by leaping over him. Keeping his cool, Gregory continues to try to catch Moon. Center. Center. Left. Right. Left. Right. Left. Behind him. Once more Gregory tries to grab Moon once he heard his laughter, but he misses once again. This goes on for ten minutes until the game starts to exhaust Gregory, making him feel a little tired. After not catching Moon for the longest time, Gregory just calls to him. "Okay Moon. You win. I don't even know where you are at now." He is just under the bridge as he was about to move his hands and take his blindfold off and surrender the game to Moon. Missing one out of the five is not so bad and it was a pretty good game he did. What he doesn't know was that someone was leaning back upside down on the bridge reaching its hands out to the boy.

"Over here." Gregory could hear Moon calling out to him quietly while the bells echo behind him. He touches the bells on Moons wrists before he got scooped up in the air. "The game is over little Starlight. You found me!" Gregory unwraps the blindfold as he could see Moon was hanging upside down on the bridge while carrying him in one arm.

Gregory laughs, "You didn't have to try to make it easy for me! I would have been okay with not having caught you out of the five rounds."

Freddy was cheering on the sidelines while Roxy and Chica gave Gregory a round of applause near the desk. "Way to go Superstar!" While Moon gently sets Gregory back down on the ground, Freddy fetches a blanket nearby to help Moon in getting the boy ready for a small nap.

Once Gregory was ready to settle down for a quick nap with Moon and Freddy watching over him, Roxy spots something hiding in the darkness of the hallway outside of the premises. There was something attempting to break in to their computer systems but with the anti-virus software working to combat against it, there were only minor glitches trying to make the Animatronics go blind in the eyes. "Something is out there Freddy." Roxy winces as she shakes off the feeling of paralyzing fear she is getting from the glitch trying to barge into her system.

Freddy gets into a battle position along with Moon as the Animatronics converge around the sleeping boy while the big wooden door creaks open by itself. Then they heard the laugh coming from the serial killer skipping merrily into the Daycare. "You have a lot of nerve to come in here thinking you can win against us!" Chica breaks the ice as she is visibly shaking in dread, touching one arm to Freddy's in support.

"What do you have against Gregory Vanny? Why do you want to kill him that much?" Freddy exclaims as he watches the rabbit lady stop her skipping and waves her fingers to him in a taunt.

"His death will help my master rise up from the ashes." Vanny said cryptically as she giggles like a madwoman. The Animatronics can't really tell if she really believes that sort of thing, mainly because she has her mask on to hide her true identity. "He knows too much of what my master wants, and he needs to be put down as a sacrifice."

Moon growls as he prepares himself to fly with his zip-line string. "Criminals like you make me sick! Why don't you let us see behind your mask if you are so proud of what you expect to achieve?" He could briefly see that Gregory was crouching deeper into the naptime blanket and pillow underneath Freddy, Chica and Roxy, as if trying to keep his eyes closed despite the noise in front of him.

Vanny shakes her head in a taunt and wags her finger. "Bad Animatronics need to be disciplined. Bad Animatronics must follow along with what they are told." Her red eyes move to gaze at Freddy. "I don't know the full explanation of how you managed to dodge the glitch, but once my master and I find a way around your precious anti-virus software, nothing will stop me from fulfilling my task in killing the boy."

"WOULD YOU SHUT THE F*ck UP VANNY! I'M TRYING TO SLEEP HERE AND NO I AM NOT HAVING FUN AT ALL WITH YOU COMING IN HERE RUINING MY F*CKING NAP!" Gregory curses as he snaps up straight from his napping position in the Daycare as he points to Vanny with a ticked off expression on his tired face. By that shout, Freddy, Chica, Roxy and Moon were surprised to see him react out of annoyance at the rabbit lady disturbing his sleep.

If Gregory's rant didn't scare Vanny away from the Daycare Sun scared her worse as he could be heard screaming through the speaker in despair at the failure of getting Gregory to stop swearing. Moon had to turn down the volume on the speaker while Sun was ranting desperately. "AAAAHHHH! Rulebreaker! Rulebreaker! Rulebreak-er-er! Moony! Put Gregory in time out! NOW!" Vanny decided it would be best to leave before things could get worse for her, not because she got scared of the boy cursing at her, but because her cover was blown in getting him and the Animatronics while their backs were turned.

Moon chuckles a bit as he turns down the speaker so that Gregory doesn't hear Sun ranting. He pushes Gregory gently back down for his nap, seeing that Vanny decided to just scamper off without a fight. Freddy, Chica and Roxy began to relax and ease themselves on a job well done of guarding as they settle down for their naps. "Okay little Starlight. Thank you for the reminder. But you are going to need to put another dollar in the swear jar soon as naptime is over. Just remember...no swearing in the Daycare."

A/N: I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Poor Sun just can't catch a break with Gregory swearing in this one. I will see you next time in the next chapter!
