"So Steffen you're my opponent in the next match?" Ash asked.
"It's Stephan. And yes we're up next." Stephan said. "But I don't plan on losing in round two, so get ready to lose."
"We won't go down without a fight either!" Ash said with confidence. "So be ready for a hard battle."
"Bring it on!" Stephan said in agreement.
"Those two are birds of a feather." Rosa said.
"It's remarkable that Ash tends to have these kinds of people drawn to him." Elliot commented.
Round 2 Match 1
"Alright, Blitzle come on out!" Stephan called out.
"An electric type, perfect practice for us. Come on out Trubbish!" Ash said.
"He chose to test out Trubbish, now of all times?" Rosa questioned.
"I guess if Ash wants to see how he holds up to electric types, this could be a safe time to practice as such." Elliot said.
"Blitzle use Double Kick!"
"Trubbish use Sludge!"
Blitzle raced forward, as Trubbish unleashed a poisonous sludge, causing the electric type to slip and slide away from their target.
"Trubbish use Double Slap!"
"Blitzle use Flame Charge!"
Trubbish slapped Blitzle once before being tossed across the arena.
"Trubbish are you alright?!" Ash asked.
"Trub! Bish!" Trubbish said, getting back up.
"Alright then, Trubbish use another Sludge attack!"
Trubbish unleashed another shot of poisonous sludge, striking Blitzle directly, causing it to shudder and cough.
"That's it." Ash said in realization. "Trubbish use Double Slap!"
"Blitzle use Shock Wave!"
Blitzle tried to regain it's focus, shaking off the poison attack, only to be struck onto the ground by Trubbish's double slap.
"Blitzle is unable to battle, the winner is Trubbish." Don George declared.
"Hey good match Stephan." Ash said.
"You too Ash, but next time we fight I won't lose again." Stephan said.
"Deal." Ash countered.
Round 2 Match 2
"Alright Tranquil come on out!" Hugh exclaimed.
"Cottonee let's go!"
"Tranquill use Air Slash!"
"Cottonee use Cotton Guard!"
Cottonee puffed up as Tranquil took their shot, knocking the grass type back.
"Cottonee use Endeavor!"
"Tranquil use another Air Slash!"
Tranquil lined up their shot again, striking true and right through Cottonee for a quick and easy victory.
"Hugh, that was incredible, I mean you had the type advantage but still." Ash remarked.
"Thanks, but the credit goes to that Elliot friend of yours. After our last battle, I went to go and get a Scope Lense and it's made a big difference." Hugh said.
"Won't be enough to beat me next round though." Ash countered with a smirk.
"Don't get too overconfident, besides there's still another two matches between then and now." Hugh reminded. "And I have more tricks up my sleeve."
"Good to hear, because I do not." Ash said with confidence.
"Ash, you know that's not how psyching someone out works, right?" Stephan said with a deadpan.
"I do now." Ash said with the same level of confidence.
"Alright you three, either sit down or move, Elliot's battle is about to begin." Rosa said impatiently.
"Sorry Rosa." Ash and Hugh said, sitting down as Stephan went and found a seat himself.
Round 2 Match 3
"Porygon2 come out!" Elliot exclaimed.
"Let's go Rufflet!"
"That looks a little like Braviary." Ash said, seeing the small bird.
"Because Rufflet evolves into Braviary." Hugh remarked. "How do you not remember that about your own Pokemon?"
"Oh, because I caught Braviary as is, he never was a Rufflet with me." Ash said plainly.
"You, you caught a Braviary?" Stephan questioned.
"Yeah… why?" Ash asked.
"Finding and catching a wild Braviary is well, nearly unheard of." Rosa admitted. "They're usually really powerful."
"So is mine." Ash said.
"Not arguing that, I'm just saying we never really told you how good of a catch Braviary was because well it's still hard to believe you caught it." Rosa sighed.
"Cool." Ash said with a smile.
"Porygon2 use Psybeam!"
"Rufflet use Wing Attack!"
Porygon2 dodged out of the way of Rufflet's attack before firing a beam at them, knocking the bird out of the sky.
"Now Porygon2 use Ice Beam!"
"Rufflet use Fury Attack!"
Rufflet hopped back up, taking into the air, their beak pointed right at Porygon2 only for them to be frozen in mid air before beginning to drop.
"Porygon2 catch them with another Psybeam!"
Porygon2 managed to catch the frozen Rufflet in a psychic beam to keep them from crashing hard onto the ground.
"Rufflet is unable to battle, the winner is Porygon2." Don George declared.
Round 2 Match 4
"Alright, let's see what this guy has for this round." Ash said as Dino came onto the field.
"Litwik come out." Dino exclaimed.
"Come on out Frillish!"
"Not good, both are ghost types, but Frillish is a water type while Litwik is a fire type." Elliot commented.
"Somehow I don't think that will matter." Ash commented. "This guy looks like he means business."
"Litwik use Sunny Day!"
"Frillish use Hex!"
Litwik cleared the clouds over the arena before being struck by a strange energy.
"Litwik use Solar Beam!"
Litwik shook off the previous attack, sending out a beam of focused sunlight, engulfing Frillish in the attack.
"Frillish use Hex!"
"Use Solar Beam again!"
Litwik sent out another beam of energy before being struck by the strange energy again, however it was short lived as Frillish was engulfed and knocked out by the second Solar Beam.
"Frillish is unable to battle, the winner is Litwik." Don George declared.
"Anyone up for trading opponents with me next round?" Elliot asked.
"Not a chance, when I face him, that will certainly be a final round fight!" Ash said excitedly.
"You mean when I face him!" Hugh argued.
"Alright you two, put your money where your mouths are and fight on the battlefield." Rosa urged.
