"Alright rematch time, I've got strategies, I've got my team, I am ready to go!" Ash said pumped as they entered the amusement park area of Nimbasa.
"So how long has he been like this?" Rosa asked.
"5AM, also it's your turn to carry Goldie." Elliot said, handing the egg to Rosa.
"Why me?" Rosa asked.
"Who do you think held it while he did a run at 5AM?" Elliot asked.
"Didn't he buy the pouch to hold the egg so we didn't have to?" Rosa questioned loud enough for Ash to hear.
"Not possible today Rosa." Ash said. "Big battle and that means I need a full range of movement."
"Of course you do." Rosa sighed knowing it wasn't worth arguing about.
"Alright." Ash said swinging open the doors to the rollercoaster attraction. "ELESA I'M HERE FOR A REMATCH!"
"Tickets please." A teenager said from a booth by the roller coaster carts.
"No I'm, I'm not here to ride the rollercoaster, I'm here for a gym battle." Ash said.
"Oh, yeah we don't do those here." The teenager said.
"But he just had a gym battle here last week." Elliot countered.
"I don't know what to tell you, but this hasn't been used as a gym for a while now." The teenager said.
"Then how do I get to the gym?" Ash questioned.
"Exit through the door, take a left and go past the Ferris wheel to the attraction right after it. If you hit the Audino balloon, you've gone too far." The teenager said.
"Thanks, we'll do that." Ash said rushing back out.
A few buildings over
"So this is the gym now?" Ash asked noticing the flashy lights.
"Or we could ask around." Rosa said.
"Roxie's was an underground concert hall, Cheren's was a school yard, I've had multiple gym battles in pools." Ash said.
"How many is multiple?" Elliot asked.
"Three that were fully on, in, or above a full sized pool." Ash said. "Let's go inside!"
"Hello, how may I help you today?" A woman in a strange outfit said.
"I, is this the Pokemon Gym?" Ash asked.
"Yes, are you here for a challenge?" The woman asked.
"Yes, I, I am." Ash said. "Can I, can I go in?"
"Very well." The woman said.
"Alright! Wish me luck guys!" Ash said rushing through the main doors with Pikachu hot on his heels.
"Ahh hello there." Elesa said, walking down the runway to meet Ash. "It's good to see you again, here for a rematch?"
"Yes, but this doesn't look like a standard gym arena." Ash admitted.
"Will that be a problem?" Elesa asked.
"Nope, works fine for me." Ash said. "Same rules as last time?"
"4 on 4 unless you've suddenly earned more badges." Elesa joked.
"Not yet, I don't move on that fast." Ash said, grabbing a Pokeball.
"Very well then, Emolga to the stage!"
"Trubbish I choose you!" Ash called out.
"Emolga use Aerial Ace!"
"Trubbish use Toxic Spikes!" Ash called out.
Trubbish spun around sending out a flurry of toxic spikes below Emolga as the flying squirrel swooped down, striking the poison type.
"What's the plan with Toxic Spikes?" Rosa asked.
"They're an entry hazard and a dangerous one, just setting them once nearly guarantees almost any Pokemon to be poisoned when they switch in." Elliot commented.
"So that means if she uses Volt Switch too much, her entire team will be poisoned!" Rosa exclaimed.
"Precisely." Elliot said.
"Trubbish use Sludge!"
"Emolga use Aerial Ace!"
Trubbish sent out a blast of poisonous sludge at Emolga as the flying type was sent off course from it getting in their view.
"Emolga use Quick Attack!"
"Trubbish use Double Slap!"
Trubbish swatted his hands in front of him as Emolga zoomed across the arena, striking the poison type.
"Trubbish use Sludge!"
"Emolga use Aerial Ace!"
Emolga rushed forward pushing through the sludge as they struck Trubbish again.
"Trubbish are you good to keep going?" Ash asked.
"Trub." Trubbish said weakly before pushing himself back up before sending out a poisonous wave from his mouth, covering Emolga in it.
"What was that?" Rosa asked.
"I think that was Sludge Wave, but that move is incredibly rare." Elliot noted.
"Yeah, I spent some more time at the battle subway, all sorts of trainers there, traded some moves." Ash said. "Didn't think Trubbish figured that one out though."
"No matter Emolga use Aerial Ace!"
"Trubbish use Sludge Wave!" Ash called out.
Trubbish unleashed another poisonous wave from his mouth, drenching Emolga and sending them crashing to the ground as a buzzer went off. The sign above the stadium showing Emolga's face crossed out.
"You've come up with a lot of plans, stopping the Volt Switch tactic, but can you stop everything? Flaaffy come out!" Elesa said.
"Trubbish you did great, return! Servine you're up!"
Flaaffy and Servine both landed on the stage, with Flaaffy stumbling upon hitting the Toxic Spikes, taking some damage and catching a few in her wool.
"Servine use Leaf Tornado!"
"Flaaffy use Thunder Wave!"
Servine flicked their tail, sending out a swirling storm of leaves at Flaaffy, both striking the electric type and absorbing their attack.
"Flaaffy use Volt Switch!"
"Servine use Wrap!"
Servine leapt at Flaaffy, entangling the electric type and keeping them from switching out.
"Now use Leaf Tornado!"
"Use Take Down!"
Servine flicked their tail once more but before the attack could go off, Flaaffy slammed the two of them into the ground with force, damaging both.
"Servine use Energy Ball!"
"Flaaffy use Thunder Wave!"
Servine gathered energy, unleashing it directly onto Flaaffy at point blank range as sparks covered the grass types body.
"Servine use Leaf Tornado!"
"Flaaffy use Take Down!"
The two Pokemon were tossed around in the tornado before both tumbled apart from each other with a loud buzzer and both of their photos being crossed out.
"So what else do you have to fight us?" Elesa said, recalling her Flaaffy.
"Don't worry, I have plenty of plans." Ash assured.
"Very well then, come out Joltik!"
"Braviary I choose you!"
"He chose Braviary. A flying type. For the electric gym." Rosa said in disbelief.
"I'm more impressed by Joltik, they're so small the Toxic Spikes can't get close to them." Elliot commented.
"Braviary use Aerial Ace!"
"Joltik jump and use Bug Bite to grab on!"
Braviary dove towards the ground, skimming across the surface towards Joltik as the bug type leapt up and onto their neck, biting down on the flying type.
"All according to plan. Braviary head up into the air and spin using Hone Claws!"
"Joltik hold on using Bug Bite!"
"I don't get it why doesn't she use Volt Switch?" Rosa asked.
"Because just like how Ash made Servine hold onto Flaaffy, Elesa has to make a choice, have Joltik hold on, or have them fall off." Elliot said as Braviary flew and spun around the arena.
"Keep spinning and use another Hone Claws!"
"Keep using Bug Bite!"
"Okay I get the whole Joltik not using Volt Switch to swap in Zebstrika, but why isn't Ash having Braviary attack again?" Rosa asked.
"Because he can't. As long as Joltik is positioned like that, Braviary can't hurt it, so Ash is hoping to shake them off and strike while they're falling." Elliot realized. "And then with two hone claws and growing, even Zebstrika will struggle to outspeed and out power Braviary."
"Braviary keep going!" Ash called out, as Braviary soon quickly began to take laps around the arena spinning every now and then until a small yellow fluff was thrown off, towards the center of the arena.
"Braviary use Aerial Ace!"
Braviary shook their head before launching straight at the falling Joltik.
"Joltik use Thunder Wave!"
Joltik sent out a field of static electricity around them as they were struck and one shot by Braviary's attack as a buzzer went off, with Joltik's face crossed off on the screen.
"Interesting tactic, but with all that spinning and circling, I have a feeling Braviary is pretty turned around and paralyzed from the Thunder Wave." Elesa said. "Now come out Zebstrika! Use Volt Switch!"
"Braviary dodge it!"
Zebstrika galloped forward their hooves crushing the remaining toxic spikes as they went, slamming into Braviary with electricity flying off of their body.
"Alright, winning strategy time." Ash said. "Braviary return!"
"That's his winning strategy, with all those boosts, Braviary was a sure fire knockout." Rosa said in shock.
"Yes and probably for both sides." Elliot remarked. "Let's just hope Ash knows what he's doing."
"Alright Pikachu, let's finish this!" Ash said with a smirk.
"Pika!" Pikachu said excitedly running onto the field.
"Zebstrika use Flame Charge!"
"Pikachu use Quick Attack!"
Pikachu raced around Zebstrika, slamming into the larger Pokemon from the side.
"Zebstrika use Stomp!"
"Pikachu roll and use Charge Beam!"
Pikachu rolled out of the way from Zebstrika's hoof, before firing a beam from his tail, up through Zebstrika.
"Pikachu use Iron Tail!"
"Zebstrika use Stomp!"
Pikachu spun back up, sweeping his tail across Zebstrika's foot from their stomp attack, knocking Zebstrika off balance.
"Pikachu keep it up with Quick Attack!"
"Zebstrika use Pursuit!"
Pikachu landed back on the ground, launching at Zebstrika as the two electric types struck each other with Zebstrika stumbling back.
"Pikachu finish with Thunderbolt!"
Pikachu sent out a bolt of electricity at Zebstrika causing the zebra Pokemon to fall to the ground with a buzzer going off.
"Congratulations on your victory Ash. As proof I present you with this the Bolt Badge." Elesa said, holding out the badge.
"Thank you for the great battle." Ash said, accepting the badge. "Pikachu look at that, we just got a Bolt Badge!"
"Pi Pikachu!" Pikachu cheered.
