In U.A.'s hallways...
Marinette walked down the hallways, somewhat remembering where Melissa took her. Just in case though, AllMight gave her a map to Power Loader's class before lunch. She looked at the map just to make sure that she was heading in the right direction. Marinette had to turn around a couple of times, finding herself either in a dead end or in a completely different area.
"Ugh, this school is huge. How does anyone find these classes?" Marinette asked Tikki.
"Well, maybe you're looking at the map the wrong way," Tikki said back with a teasing voice.
"Ha ha, very funny," Marinette said to her Kwami, "Besides, I think I figured out where I'm going now."
Marinette went down a flight of stairs and headed to the right. She noticed a familiar door in the distance and knew right away that it was Hatsume and Melissa's lab. She kind of figured that it was Power Loader's lab, but they did invent a lot of amazing inventions and gadgets there.
"Tikki, do you really think that I can do this? I mean, these are actual inventors and classmates with actual quirks," Marinette said to Tikki.
"Marinette, of course you can. You're smart and very creative," Tikki said back with a smile, "Besides, you're Ladybug. You may not have a quirk, but you have a Miraculous and do great and amazing things with it."
Marinette smiled back at her Kwami and rubbed her head.
"Thank you Tikki. I needed to hear that," Marinette said as she walked up to the lab.
She finally reached up to the lab's door and tried to calm down. Once she opened the door, she noticed that there were more classmates in there than the last time she was here. There were a few working on some inventions that were so unique and outlandish. They all turned around to see Marinette standing there. Hatsume stood out the most since she was the one that didn't even notice her and kept working on her inventions. Marinette felt a little uncomfortable with everyone looking at her like that.
"H-Hey. I'm new here," Marinette said back as she waved her hand, "I'm looking for Power Loader."
"Marinette! You're here," Melissa said as she walked over to Marinette from the corner of the room, "AllMight told me that you were taking this class."
"Yeah, I am. I just got a little bit lost," Marinette explained.
"Hi, you must Marinette Dupain Cheng," Power Loader said to her, "I'm Power Loader. I teach support class on building inventions and anything that can help a pro hero for their missions to become better heroes."
"It's nice to finally meet you, Power Loader," Marinette said as she bowed respectfully, "I've been wanting to work with you ever since Melissa showed me her full gauntlet."
Marinette then noticed everyone was still looking at her, and she felt a little nervous. Power Loader noticed and turned to his students.
"Hey everyone. This is a new student and classmate that will be joining us. She came all the way from Paris just to be here," Power Loader announced to them, "This is Marinette Dupain Cheng. Be patient with her and make her feel welcome here."
Marinette awkwardly waved to them, and some of them didn't even seem to care as they got right back to their inventions.
"So, when can I get started?" Marinette asked him.
"Whenever you want. I've been told that you're a pretty good fashion designer in Paris," Power Loader said back, "Mr. Aizawa made sure that I get some pictures of them. I gotta say, they are very good. Have you ever considered getting into inventing and engineering?"
"Well, I just finished a pair of gloves for a Class 1-A student. The gloves were suppose to help contain her quirk so that she wouldn't lose control. They worked out very well for her," Marinette explained.
"That's great," Power Loader said to her, "I actually think that this could be a great opportunity for you. I even got you a space right next to Melissa."
Marinette turned around to see some space and even a desk for her. She even had tools and supplies just like her dorm room. Melissa smiled back at Marinette, and she walked up to her desk to look at what she could start working on. Marinette didn't even know where to start since she never really did anything like this before.
"Do you have any tips or tricks for me before I start, Power Loader?" Marinette asked him.
"Well, I can teach you some things about engineering. Other than that, the best way to start is making something for a specific quirk or hero. It helps to lay out the basics so you know where to start. It seems like you did that already for your Class 1-A friend. Don't rush either. Take your time since it's your first time here in class, and you don't need to finish it all in one class," Power Loader said back.
Marinette smiled, feeling a little better already.
"Thank you, Power Loader. That helped a lot," Marinette said to him.
Marinette was about ready to start inventing when Power Loader noticed Tikki poking out of her pocket. Tikki ended up hiding back into her pocket, and Power Loader was a little confused. Marinette never noticed and turned back to see him looking at her pocket.
"Marinette if you don't mind me asking, what exactly is your quirk?" Power Loader asked him.
Marinette looked down at her pocket and wondered how she should go about this. Even though she was quirkless, she had no idea what Mr. Aizawa told him or the other teachers. She didn't want to make things complicated so she decided to just tell him the truth.
"Actually, I don't have a quirk," Marinette told him.
"Wait, you're quirkless? I didn't know that. Mr. Aizawa didn't say much about yours and your friends," Power Loader said to her.
"Yeah. Back in Paris, I got these special earrings called Miraculous," Marinette explained as she showed off her earrings, "I have my little friend here, Tikki."
Tikki was a little nervous to come out of her pocket, and the Kwami eventually floated towards Marinette with a nervous wave.
"Tikki is known as a Kwami. They help power up my Miraculous and give me the power of creation," Marinette explained to him, "I can conjure up a Lucky Charm, and it will help me take down a villain or anything that I'm trying to solve at any given moment."
Power Loader, and even other classmates were listening in on what Marinette was talking about. Her new classmates seemed really fascinated by Tikki and even her Miraculous.
"Wow! So, you really don't have a quirk and yet you got into U.A. in the middle of the school year?" Someone with purple skin asked.
"That's pretty amazing! We've never had someone join our class and be friends with Class 1-A so quickly," Someone with spiky black hair said.
"These Miraculous sound really powerful. Did someone make them for you?" Hatsume asked her with such passion.
"Actually no. I got picked by someone to be the next Ladybug. That's my hero name," Marinette explained, "He was looking for someone that he thought was hero worthy. He ended up picking me and my partner, Adrien Agreste to be partners to help save Paris and protect it."
"Wait, so you're already a pro hero?" The purple skinned classmate asked her.
"I guess you could say that. I just really felt like I could use some help here in the top hero school," Marinette explained to them, "I really appreciate being here since all of you seem so talented. I can already tell that all of you make some pretty amazing inventions. I'll make sure Class 1-A knows that all of you are here to make some amazing inventions. They would probably love to have inventions like these for their hero costumes."
"Wow! Thanks Marinette," The spiky black haired classmate said, "That would help so much. I've been trying to help out, but it's hard to get anyone's attention without the Sports Festival around."
"Don't worry, I'll mention something to all of them," Marinette said with a smile, "They're kind of the reason that I'm even here at all."
"That would be amazing. Class 1-A is the top class and the fact that you're friends with them is crazy," The purple skinned classmate said to her.
"Alright. Let Marinette settle down and start inventing," Power Loader said to them, "She can get to know you all some other time. Melissa, why don't you help her out?"
"Sure! I can do that," Melissa said back.
Marinette walked up to her desk and looked through some tools and supplies. She wondered what she should get started on, but then she thought about some of her friends. Melissa made full gauntlet for Midoriya, but ended up giving it to her instead. She then wondered about Midoriya and what he would want since he doesn't have his Miraculous on him at the moment. As she started going through some materials, she noticed something that caught her attention.
There was cotton fabric, and Marinette thought about Bakugo for some reason.
She remembered seeing him sweating a lot and wondered if she could make anything based on his quirk. Then she thought about how tough it is to contain his sweat. He did have his Miraculous now, but then wondered if she'd still be able to help him somehow. She took out a couple of other supplies and realized what she could do to help him. She felt so bad for what happened in Paris and knew that this might actually help him. She soon found herself working on something and glanced at Melissa.
Melissa looked like she was working on something that looked like gloves. Marinette didn't want to bother her, but then she looked up to see her looking.
"Do you need something, Marinette?" Melissa asked her.
"I didn't want to bother you if you were busy," Marinette said to her.
"Don't worry about it. I'm just playing around with some materials and gadgets," Melissa said back, "What'd you need?"
Marinette smiled, feeling like she could finally start working on something. Melissa ended up helping her with a few tips, and then took care of the rest. Marinette measured some black, cotton fabric to the length of Bakugo's arm. She had to guess, but was able to at least start on something. After some gadgets and tweaking, she was starting to see it come together. She ended up getting really into it that she forgot what time it was.
Once the bell rang, Marinette snapped out of it. She looked up at the clock to see that the class was over.
"Wow, Marinette! You got a lot done pretty quickly," Melissa said to her.
"Yeah. Well, I just kind of played around with it once I figured out what to make," Marinette explained to her.
"I'm just glad that you were able to start right away," Melissa said back.
In the corner of her eye, Marinette spotted Hatsume working on the portal to their Paris. She couldn't help but walk over to her to see what she was working on. She looked like she was working on a bigger piece than the last time she saw her.
"Hey Mei, What're you working on?" Marinette asked her.
"Oh! I'm just working on that portal for those Parisian heroes," Hatsume explained, "I still need a battery for it though! I can't seem to find the right battery! Oh well, I'm sure I'll figure it out soon enough."
"Are you sure you don't need help?" Marinette asked her.
"Nah! I've got this! I just need to find a strong enough power source for it," Hatsume explained, "It can't that hard! We've got tons of batteries, generators and power sources around here."
Marinette then instinctively touched her Miraculous, but wondered if that would even work for something like this. She wanted to help, but that wouldn't help her in the long run. Besides, she could never leave behind her Miraculous if it got the portal to work. Whatever Hatsume was going to use, Marinette was hoping that she could help her out somehow.
"Okay, but don't forget that I would love to help you in any way that I can," Marinette said to her, "I'd love to help my friends get back home."
Marinette noticed something about Hatsume that seemed to get to her. She stopped what she was doing and looked at her and Tikki.
"That's really cool of you to help out your friends like that. Don't worry about it. I'll get this thing fixed. Maybe during the next class, you can help me out," Hatsume said to her.
"Really? Thank you Mei!" Marinette cried out as she shook her hand profusely, "You won't regret this!"
"Umm... Marinette? You're going to be late for class," Melissa reminded her.
Marinette looked at the clock and realized she was pretty late already. She grabbed her invention, her backpack and ran for the door.
"T-Thank you, Power Loader," Marinette said to him, "I can't wait to start working on some more inventions. I really do appreciate it."
Marinette ran out before they could say anything and threw her backpack over her back. She ran up the stairs and this time didn't have to use the map of the school to find her classroom. She ran as fast as she could and soon saw the classroom door in the distance. The door was about to close, but she was able to catch up to it and stopped it just in time. She saw AllMight right in front of her, and she had to catch her breath before sitting down.
"S-Sorry Mr. Yagi," Marinette said, trying to catch her breath, "I didn't realize what time it was."
"It's okay. As long as you were inventing something and not fooling around," AllMight said back.
"Of course not, sir," Marinette said to him, "I was working on an invention. I didn't finish it, so I might work on it when I get back to the dormitory."
"Well, I'm just glad that you managed to start an invention. I can't wait to see your work," AllMight said to her with a smile.
Marinette smiled back at him and sat down at her seat with everyone else. Adrien smiled at her, clearly excited for her.
"I'm so happy for you, Marinette," Adrien said back, "I can't wait to see what you're working on."
Marinette felt like she could relax once she was in Class 1-M's classroom. But then she remembered that hero training is coming up soon.
In Midoriya's mom's apartment...
Lila sat on the couch in the living room, waiting for dinner to start. She was starting to get bored just sitting around here doing nothing. Midoriya's mom was going to make dinner soon, and Gabriel was helping her get ready. Now that Lila has been staying there for a while, she felt like she was starting to notice things about Midoriya.
She side glanced at his room and hadn't gotten the chance to look in there yet. She wanted to and almost did, but Midoriya's mom got her to help out with groceries instead. Midoriya's mom just kept going on and on about Midoriya and how he was told that he was quirkless. She even showed her pictures of him when he was little. She was at least entertained by the idea of him being in an AllMight costume.
"Cerise, why don't you set up the table for dinner? Me and Gabi are making dinner," Midoriya's mom asked her.
"Sure, Mrs. Midoriya!" Lila said with a big smile, "What're we having tonight? I bet it'll be just as good as last night's dinner."
"We're having Katsudon. It's Izuku's favorite meal," Midoriya's mom said to her from the other side of the apartment, "I use to make it all the time for him. I thought you two might like it."
"I don't mind helping out," Gabriel said back, "I'm pretty good at cooking. I use to cook like this with my son, Adrien."
"Oh! You have a son too?" Midoriya's mom said to him, "Where is he?"
Lila gave him a piercing glare, and he noticed right away. She was able to set the table pretty quickly since it was just them three. Gabriel flinched and went back on his lies.
"He is actually still in Paris. He's busy in boarding school, so I just brought Cerise with me on this trip," Gabriel lied to her.
"Oh well, that's too bad," Midoriya's mom said to him, "I wish I could've met Adrien. What's he like?"
Lila watched him very closely, worried that he might slip up. He noticed her glaring and had to clear his throat to keep going.
"Well, he is very smart. He can play the piano and is very good at fencing. He's even a model back in Paris," Gabriel said back, "I'm actually a fashion designer."
"Oh! I didn't know you were a famous fashion designer!" Midoriya's mom cried out with sparkling eyes, "That must be a lot to handle back in Paris. Especially with Adrien being in boarding school. What about his mother? Is she taking care of him back in Paris?"
Gabriel stopped chopping up the chicken and froze in place. Lila noticed him freezing up and decided to step in. She couldn't afford for Gabriel to accidentally reveal anything so soon. She walked up and sat at the counter.
"My mom's just busy handling the fashion designing since we're stuck here. It's kind of a family thing," Lila lied to her, "She even designs some really gorgeous dresses for me. You should've seen me in my dress for a school dance! It was stunning!"
"Your family sounds amazing!" Midoriya's mom cried out, "I wish that I could've met Adrien and your wife. She sounds like an amazing woman."
Gabriel looked down at the kitchen, barely able to look at Lila or Midoriya's mom. Lila gave him a suspicious look, hoping that he wouldn't spill anything.
"Yeah... She is..." He said back.
Lila noticed that he eventually got back to cutting up the chicken and put it in breadcrumbs. She stayed there the whole time, hoping that he wouldn't say anything else suspicious. The whole time, she was able to keep him from spilling anything that might give them away. For a while, all Midoriya's mom could talk about was Midoriya being home from Paris. Lila couldn't help but smile, especially when dinner was finally ready. That's all she could talk about as they ate their Katsudon. Lila admitted that it was pretty good, but she couldn't understand why Midoriya would eat this all of the time.
After dinner, Lila kept side glancing at Midoriya's room. All she wanted to do was check out his room. Lila ended up sleeping in the living room, but she still wanted to check it. She almost opened the door when Midoriya's mom showed up.
"Cerise. Do you want to sleep in Izuku's room?" Midoriya's mom asked her, "I can understand if you want to. The living room is not exactly comfortable for sleeping."
"Are you sure? I don't wanna be a bother," Lila said to her.
"No, go ahead and settle down," Midoriya's mom said, "I'll grab you some clean sheets and pillowcases. You deserve to sleep in a proper bed tonight."
Once Lila was alone, she opened the door and walked inside. She quickly noticed all of the AllMight figures and rolled her eyes. All she could see were AllMight merchandise everywhere, but not as much as she thought there'd be. Something about it made her want to throw up.
"Oh Izuku. You're such a wannabe hero."
