Just as a Pokémon pirating plan is prevented, catastrophe struck the St. Anne! The cruise ship capsized with Laoise, Ash, Misty and Brock trapped on board! Team Rocket also faces the same horrible fate as the once proud St. Anne plunged deeper and deeper into the depths of the sea! Could this be how it ends?!
When Laoise awakened, something was amiss. For one thing, she felt like different parts of her body had been bruised. Another is that she could hear Brock and Misty asking her and Ash to wake up. Another as she opened her eyes and looked around, she saw everything was upside down!
At that moment Ash fell from his spot and landed on Pikachu – the little electric mouses bottom half was covered by Ash's legs. Pikachu's head poked up, dazed.
"Will someone tell me what in the world happened?" Ash groaned.
"Just take a look out the window." Misty pointed.
Ash did so and gaped. "Huh? Fish swimming? This can't be! But that must mean, that this ship has sunk!"
Laoise was full awake. "The ship has -What?!" She looked out the window and could swear her brain was setting off all sorts of alarms.
For the ship is upside-down and perched atop a seamount, positioned at the mouth of a trench.
"Oh no. Oh no!" Laoise's eyes widened, she began to hyperventilate and her heart began pounding. "OH NOOOO!"
Right now, one of Laoise's worst fears has happened. They were in a sinking ship in the middle of the ocean, and no one else knows they're there!
"L-Let me outta here! I can't breathe! Help, I need air!" she screamed in panic "Help, we're trapped, we're trapped like rats! We're trapped, we're trapped, we're trapped!"
Laoise's mind raced as sheer terror gripped her. Flashing images of sinking ships with trapped people filled her with dread. She couldn't breathe, couldn't think - only fear.
The trainers and Pikachu rushed to her, they had to first her to calm if they were going to survive this together.
Somehow Ash found a paper bag, attempted to place it in her hands to slow her breathing. "I got it! Here's a paper bag. Breathe in and out with me, slow and steady!" Ash guided her breathing into the bag.
Laoise struggled to catch her breath, heart racing, hands trembling.
Misty told Laoise to repeat a simple, physically tiring task such as raising her arms over the head. "Raise your arms over your head! Nice and slow, you've got this." The repetitive motion was meant to distract from anxious thoughts.
Brock tried to get Laoise to count slowly to 10. Brock stayed close but didn't try to grab Laoise's hand to respect to give her breathing room. "Count to ten with me, you can do it."
"Pika! Pika! Pi, Pikapi!" Pikachu jumped right on Laoise's shoulders. Then he put both his front paws on the sides of her face to get Laoise to look right at him, as a way to make her focus.
Laoise gasped for breath, panic overwhelming her mind. But her friends wouldn't let her fall.
"Breathe with me, in and out," Ash encouraged, modeling slow breaths into the bag. Misty gently guided Laoise's arms up and down in rhythm.
"One...two...you've got this," soothed Brock calmly. Pikachu nuzzled close, his warmth and familiar scent soothing her fraying nerves. His sweet face looking into hers pulled her out of frightening memories.
Slowly, ever so slowly, Laoise began to match their soothing pace. Her breathing steadied, thoughts clearing as her friends anchored her to the present. Especially the words reminding her of her own Pokémon's well-being.
Color returned to Laoise's cheeks as the fear faded. "Thank...you. I-I needed that."
Now there was the matter of finding a way out of the ship alive. They walked down one way, and saw a whole corridor flooding bit by bit.
Ash gaped, "What are we supposed to do? The ship's leaking everywhere!"
Misty turned to look at him, "We've got to keep calm! As long as there's air in here, it'll take time to fill up with water."
Brock said, "Sure, but we better not waste any time escaping."
Misty surmised, "Well, we can either go up or down."
Ash folded his arms thoughtfully, "Well, if we're sinking then up would definitely be better. And if the ship is flipped upside down..."
"I-I vote we go up." Laoise raised her hand.
Misty pointed, "The deck is below us, and the ship's bottom is up above our heads.
Ash "Then we have to dive down to the deck!"
Pikachu nodded, "Pika Pika."
Brock then said grimly, "But if we dive down to the deck and come across a dead end, then we're done for!"
Ash fearfully imagined the scenario that Brock brought up. "So, how are we supposed to know?"
Laoise's voice trembled, "I don't want to join my ancestors just yet, I want us all to get out."
"And we will."
"Water's my specialty. Go, Goldeen!" Misty then reminded, "Laoise, you said you had a water pokèmon, didn't you?"
Laoise tried to slow her breathing, "Okay, okay. Idril, go with her!" and she took out her pokèball.
Idril was Laoise's new shiny Staryu. The starfish and the goldfish pokèmon popped out of their Pokéballs.
Misty instructed, "Goldeen, Idril, dive down to the deck! If you find a way off the ship, bring something back from outside."
"Goldeen" nodded the Goldeen.
"Hyah!" Idril spun once, then dove down with the Goldeen.
Both Pokémon dove into the water but find both a dead end and a drowning Team Rocket, much to their shock.
Ash wondered, "What's taking those two so long?"
Misty supposed. "I guess they can't find a way out."
Then the youngsters are given a huge fright when a dead looking James' face appears out of the water followed by Jessie. Goldeen had stacked them on her back, while Idril had picked up Meowth and they swum back, throwing the troublesome trio out onto the stair landing. Despite being half-drowned, Team Rocket managed to get in half a lungful of air they attempt to perform their motto once again.
"Prepare... prepare for trouble!" moaned Jesse.
"Yessss," gasped James, "Make it.. double!"
Once they noticed who it is at last, they leapt to their feet and pull out their Pokéballs, believing they have the kids right where they want them! They send out Ekans and Koffing as Ash and Brock send out Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Geodude. Before any of them can launch an attack, the ship begins to tip, sending everyone sliding. Ash orders the Pokémon to go to the other side, but they cause the ship to tilt the other way. After sliding back and forth, Misty ordered the boys to recall their Pokémon. They do so.
"Call your Pokémon back, too. Before I throw you back in the water myself!" Misty ordered Team Rocket.
Jessie and James reluctantly called back their Pokémon. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief as the ship levels out.
"Alright, we all agree that there won't be any battles, for now." Misty instructed. "Right, let's work together." She noticed Ash, Brock and Laoise glaring at Team Rocket.
"Come on now! Shake hands!" She snapped.
Ash and Jessie shook hands with mutual glares.
Jessie growled, "This is just a temporary truce until we get out of this mess."
Ash's lip curled, "Better believe it."
Brock and James shook hands, with both giving off a strong grip. A glowering Laoise gives both Jessie and James the 'I'm watching you' gesture.
Pikachu and Meowth also shake, but Pikachu mischievously shocked Meowth in the process.
Misty rebuked, "Pikachu!"
Jessie sneered. "It's agreed, we work together."
With the truce, Misty revealed that she knows the ship's blueprints because she once built a model of it which was how she learned all about the structure.
Laoise questioned, "If you know your way around the St. Anne, why didn't you tell us sooner?"
Misty retorted. "That's not the issue right now! Anyway, since the way to the deck is blocked, we'll have to climb to the bottom of the ship. We can cut a hole in the hull. That's how we'll escape!"
Some of the gang gets it, but some of them and Team Rocket are confused.
"Well, at least it's a plan, anyway." Ash said.
Brock spotted some stairs. "Over there! Onix, make a stair case!"
Onix materialized and forms a staircase for our heroes and Team Rocket to climb. After everyone climbs up Onix, they entered a dark corridor.
"The lights are out."
"I can't see a thing."
Ash's voice said, "Let me handle it. Charmander, I choose you!"
The Pokémon materialized and lit the way for everyone else.
Ash asked, "So, where does this hall lead to?"
Misty replied, "This corridor leads straight to the engine room, and that's where the hull is the thinnest. With a little luck, we should be able to cut our way through."
They enter the next room and find it impossible to cross over to the engine room hatch due to the large gap and the raging fire below them. Ash has Pikachu shock him to get him to think. He then sends out Bulbasaur to use Vine Whip to create a bridge to the opposite hatch, Laoise does the same with Bulby. The youngsters begin to slowly cross the vines, but James is too scared to cross, begging Jessie and Meowth to go on and leave him behind. Jessie slaps him and helps him regain his composure, but the rest are already across. Jessie orders Bulbasaur to send back the vines.
Team Rocket scrambled across Bulbasaur's vines and are shown to be exhausted.
Meowth whined, "Now I know what a toasted marshmallow feels like!"
Ash chided, "Hey! No time to take a break!"
"We've gotta get off this ship, quick!" urged Misty. "We need to cut a hole in the ceiling."
"Charmander, I choose you!" Ash called his Charmander, "Charmander, we need you to weld through the hull of the ship with your flames."
The Pokémon used a low powered flamethrower to start cutting through the hull.
Misty barked, "Okay, listen up! Grab hold of a water Pokémon and swim to the surface!"
Brock nodded, "Yeah, right! Got it, Ash?"
Ash answered, "I'll be okay with my Squirtle."
Laoise was shaking as she let out her Staryu and began strapping herself to it. "Okay, okay. Idril, get ready for the swim of your life!"
Jessie yelled. "Hey! Don't forget about us! What are we supposed to do?"
Misty replied, "Just grab a water Pokémon!"
Meowth yowled in disbelief. "Water Pokémon?!"
The hull is soon completely burned through and a rush of water poured in and started filling the room causing Team Rocket to panic and causing Charmander to run for it.
Ash recalled his Charmander to avoid getting its tails soaked. Soon, everyone with a water Pokémon started tying ropes to those who can't carry their trainers.
Laoise was still shaking, "Idril, let's go for it!"
Behind her Ash yelled, "Now, let's go, Squirtle!"
Everyone with a water Pokémon started swimming up the stream.
Ash So long, Team Rocket!
They all soon disappear into the stream, leaving Team Rocket behind
Team Rocket is still stranded. James suddenly starts snickering, as he reveals the golden Poké Ball holding his Magikarp, which has proved useful after all. Team Rocket straps onto Magikarp and attempts to escape, but they find that Magikarp can't swim.
Soon, the St. Anne tipped over and sank into a trench.
Once they were a few feet from the ship, Laoise already the pressure of holding her breath too long and had to put a hand over her mouth and nose to keep from making a wrong move.
Idril must've sensed her struggle and picked up the pace towards the surface. The light was getting closer.
Finally they made it to the surface and found have found a raft of driftwood. Laoise's hanging on a little too tightly to Idril. The Staryu leaned a little against its trembling trainer, to calm her.
Brock spoke calmly, "Laoise. Laoise! You can let go now."
Ash added. "You're safe. Look, we made it upwards."
Laoise let go of Idril while still shaking. "I'm okay, I'm okay. Thanks."
Ash then looked around, "I wonder why Team Rocket hasn't surfaced."
Misty said, "Do you think they're still trapped inside?"
Pikachu shrugged. "Pikachu."
Laoise pointed out, "We gotta find land and let people know we're alive."
Brock said, "There's nothing more we can do, except try to find some dry land."
"Let's see. Nothing but ocean in every direction, and no way to tell which direction to go." Ash remarked.
Laoise then remembered, "Hey, do any of you know the story Noah's Ark?"
Misty glanced at her, "What about it?"
Laoise explained, "Well, the story goes that in the Ancient world when the forty day storm ended he sent birds to fly across in search of dry land. And the dove returned with an olive twig!"
Ash brightened, "What a great idea! We're gonna do the same thing as Noah. Pidgeotto, I choose you!"
Laoise said, "You too, Skyler!"
The two Pokémon materialized.
Ash instructed, "Bring us back whatever you find! Hopefully it will lead us to land!"
"If you see people like the coast guard, lead them back to us!" Laoise added.
The flying Pokémon fly over the open ocean, when Ash's Pidgeotto spots something, it's Team Rocket, unconscious and still tied to James' Magikarp. The flyers take them all back to our heroes, who presume Team Rocket to be dead.
Misty said softly, "They weren't able to make it."
Ash said, "Not even Team Rocket deserved this."
Brock was grim, "Yeah. I guess the only decent thing t, give them a traditional burial at sea.
They all placed their hands together solemnly in prayer.
"That's right. It's our duty, even if they were our enemies." Ash said soberly.
Laoise says one last prayer, "Maker, look upon their souls with mercy and welcome them into Your kingdom with open arms. Amen." She can only hope that they find peace wherever they end up.
As the group pushed Team Rocket towards the edge of the raft, Jessie and James suddenly wake up, sending Meowth into the water and scaring the daylights out of them all.
Ash, Misty, Brock, Laoise screamed in terror "AAAH! ZOMBIES!"
James grumbled. "Who are you calling zombies?!"
Jessie yelled, "We're not zombies!"
Laoise smiled in relief, "You mean you're not dead?"
Jessie snapped, "OF COURSE, WE'RE NOT DEAD, YOU LITTLE TWIT!"
Meowth was alive too. "Somebody help! My fur's getting wet!" and he climbs aboard the raft
Pikachu snapped his fingers in frustration, "Chu!"
Sure, it was good they're alive all. But that also meant that Team Rocket won't give up on trying to catch him.
Day turns to night as our heroes and Team Rocket slept on the raft while Magikarp flops around. The next morning, most of them sat in a circle and stared at Magikarp, with their stomachs growling. Laoise had shared some dried fruit with the group which they'd eaten at sunrise but now they were hungry again.
"I'm so hungry," Ash groaned.
"Seems like forever since we last ate," Brock said.
Laoise admitted, "Me too."
"If I had known I was going to be starving, I would've stuffed my face full when I was on the St. Anne!" Misty shouted.
"I want some food!" James muttered, actually crying.
"Stop it!" Jessie barked.
"Yeah. Dat whinin' only makes you feel even hungrier." Meowth said.
Everyone soon starts looking at Magikarp in a strange way
"Gotta. Eat. Something. Like, fillet carp." Ash moaned.
"Or fried carp." Brock suggested.
Jessie hummed, "Fresh marinated carp."
James drooled, "Carp flambé."
Everyone else started thinking of using Magikarp for food.
Laoise looked at them and at the Magikarp. "Oh, no. I wouldn't do that."
"Dat's it! Dinner is now soived!" Meowth bit down on Magikarp, but his teeth ended up breaking and he screamed in pain.
Misty folded her arms. "I wouldn't try that again if I was you! Check your Pokédex because Magikarp is just scales and bones!"
Laoise held up Dixie. "Magikarp, the Fish Pokémon. Although Magikarp is considered the weakest and stupidest Pokémon in existence, it is actually a hardy Pokémon by surviving in dirty waters, and it can't be eaten by humans."
Meowth whined, "I wish you told me that sooner."
James shook with rage, "Not only can this fish not swim, it's not even good for eating!"
Jessie snapped at him. "See? I told you buying it was stupid!"
At this point, James was so frustrated with the fish he'd been conned into buying. "You good-for-nothing fish! I DON'T WANT TO BE YOUR MASTER!"
Laoise then remembered something important about the Magikarp. "Hey, if you don't want the Magikarp... can I have it?" she asked slyly.
James picked up the flailing fish and furiously dumped it right into Laoise's hands. "Here, take it!"
"Sure, you only know splash..." Laoise said to the Magikarp. "But I also know you still have a strong immune system to survive in polluted waters."
Magikarp flapped helplessly in Laoise's hands. She studied it with a thoughtful expression.
Laoise turned to her new companions with a smile. "I believe every creature has value, dig a little deeper."
With gentle care, she placed Magikarp into the shallows. And for the next half hour, Laoise continuously and stubbornly tried to get the Magikarp to swim upright.
"What are you even doing with that?!"
"It's the worst!" Meowth said.
"Magikarp is a no talent Pokémon that can't do anything but flop around." Jessie retorted to Laoise.
Laoise smirked, "If you know what I know..." And she wondered, "Hmm, maybe if I attach some beach floaters to your sides..."
"But since you're probably hungry here." Laoise took out a caramel filled chocolate bar, her favorite brand. Her last one, she was about to eat one but figured she'd cut the Magikarp must be hungry too. "Here, hope you like caramel." she said, giving a bit.
Everyone else looked like they wanted to swipe the bar out of her hands.
"Ya little runt, we're all starving and you're holding out on us!" Meowth growled.
"Cough it up!" James and Jessie started to advance on her.
Laoise scowled and elbowed James and Jessie away.
"HEY! It's this guy's special meal, after you hurt it in more ways than one!" Laoise retorted. "You guys already scarfed down my dried kiwis and cherries, which you'll regret in a few hours."
"Why?" Jessie demanded.
"Those things are high in fiber."
Team Rocket stared. Ash and Brock looked at Misty and viceversa in embarrassment.
"Now she tells us!" Misty whined.
Then Magikarp began flashing, then glow bright white meaning that it was starting to evolve!
"Sweet!" Laoise's eyes widened. "Didn't think it would happen this soon!"
The glow grew brighter, bathing the raft in pure white light. Laoise and the others shielded their eyes, the power of evolution unfolding before them.
When the light faded, a mighty Gyarados roared its emergence. Scaly blue skin shone like rushing waters, great claws poised to unleash the sea's fury. Its serpentine form towering over the raft, a colossus now where Magikarp once flopped.
But the rage Gyarados were known for did not fill its eyes entirely. Instead, it gazed upon Laoise with recognition. The strange human who saw its hidden strength, and guided it to reach its true form.
Misty gaped. "I don't believe it... you actually evolved Magikarp!"
Jessie yelped, "Gyarados! I miss Magikarp."
Laoise smiled. "I guess if you throw a little love towards a Pokèmon... you still reap what you sow." And it's whiskers were blue, meaning it's a male. "I have just the nickname for you... Typhon!"
"Typhon?" Ash, Misty and Brock looked at her. They never heard of such a name.
"What?" Laoise shrugged. "Gyarados is a water dragon, and in the Greek myths, Typhon is known as the father of all monsters. Give him something hardcore to live up to." She looked to Pikachu, "You like the name, don't you, Pikachu?"
"Pika...?" Pikachu was a little overwhelmed.
"Well, we'll leave it to him. Do you like it, big guy?" Laoise asked the Gyarados.
The newly named Typhon let out a thunderous roar, as if announcing his name to the very ocean itself.
"I'd say that's a yes!" Ash laughed nervously, patting Pikachu who squeaked in reply.
Misty eyed Typhon with a mix of wariness and appreciation. "You sure have a crazy way with Pokémon, Laoise."
"Still dunno if it's luck or a blessing in disguise," Laoise shrugged.
"Alls well that ends well." James grinned connivingly. "I'll be taking him back."
Laoise scowled at him in outrage, "Nuh-uh! You didn't want him as a Magikarp and gave him to me! So he's my Gyarados!"
James tried to backtrack his earlier statement by addressing the Gyarados. "I'm James, your master. Obey me."
However, Typhon roared at its former master, frightening him.
Jessie rebuked James, "Dimwit! If you're the master, don't act like you're scared of it!"
James wailed. "I AM scared!"
"Enough!" Brock tried, "James just give its pokéball to Laoise."
Team Rocker glared. "Why should we?"
"Either she calms it down, or we deal with it's rampage!" Misty barked.
"How do we know if it wants...?" James questioned.
As if in reply, Typhon nudged Laoise gently with his massive snout. She smiled, scratching the smooth scales fondly.
"NOW!" This time the trainers, Jessie and Meowth shouted at James.
Witha grumble, James pressed the Poké Ball into her outstretched hand.
Typhon roared in approval, thrashing his mighty tail. But Laoise quieted him with a soft touch. "So you ready head on a journey and see more of the world?"
The Gyarados lowered his head, snarling lips curled in what might pass for a smile. He would follow this strange human who saw the dreams within.
Laoise recalled Typhon into the pokéball, the group discussed how to find land. Moments later, a roar is heard.
"Laoise, didn't you get Typhon into his pokéball?" Brock inquired.
"He is in his pokèball." Laoise replied puzzledly, holding it up and then it abruptly vanished. Meaning Typhon was now in Prof. Oak's lab with her late-bloomer of a Metapod.
To their shock, it seems the sound came from another Gyarados, more than one. And the entire pod is acting angrily.
"Hey, they're going nuts, like in those nature films!" Meowth yelped.
"Unless," Misty speculated, "I think I know what's going on!"
Laoise at the same time looked carefully at the Gyarados pod and says. "Must be mating season, those are three males fighting viciously over the female of their choice - with us right in the middle of their fights!"
Jessie and James hugged each other. "Help, we're Gyarados Bait!"
Meowth mumbled fearfully, "We're doomed."
Pikachu murmured. "Pikachu."
The Gyarados start swirling around in a circle, combining their Dragon Rages.
Ash gasped, "Hey! What are they doing?!"
Misty answered, "Dragon Rage, Gyarados' ultimate attack!"
Laoise paled. "YIPE! One of the most powerful Dragon type moves in the Pokémon world!"
The Gyarados swirl faster and faster, creating a large water spout, a combined Dragon Rage.
Brock urged, "Let's go!"
"We can't!" Laoise shook her head.
Misty said, "No one's ever gotten away from Dragon Rage!
Ash gaped, "Whoa! This is it!"
"If this is the end, it was nice knowing all of you!" Laoise said.
The attack hit and everyone is sucked inside an enormous cyclone of wind and water. As Team Rocket flew upward, our heroes joined hands and try to hang on to each other.
Ash cried, "Hey, guys! Whatever happens, don't let go!"
Unfortunately, everyone lost their grip and are pulled further into the cyclone.
The violent gusts had knocked them out cold.
The first thing Laoise felt was warm sunshine on her skin. The second was soft, grainy texture beneath her hands. And the air felt hot and humid.
With a groan, she opened her eyes and slowly sat up to see where she and the others had ended up. Her stomach felt bruised, and when she looked down she saw it was because she was on a fallen palm tree.
The whole area looked to be a tropical place. Palm trees circled around, steadily leading into a thick jungle. Rocks dotted the sand, and waves rolled up the shore.
"Must be a private resort, or an island." she commented, licking her lips. "Where are we? Huh?"
No one answered.
Laoise looked left and right, scanning the beach. Where was everyone?
"Ash? Misty? Brock? Pikachu?" Laoise trudged through the sand, calling.
There was no response, and no sign of them. They must've gotten separated during the multiple dragon rage.
She hoped they were okay and that they at least landed on the same island. Speaking of which!
Laoise immediately checked her hiking bag. Her Pokédex was there albeit upside down and all her pokèballs (occupied and unoccupied) had fallen into her sleeping bag much to her relief.
Thank goodness she had the foresight to put her electronics and diary into ziplocs before boarding the ship. The music player and charger still worked when she tested it. Her badge case was dented and a little discolored, but the badges were in one piece inside.
Well, two of her three pens were busted and there were a couple ink stains on the sleeping bag, but it's not that big a deal compared to missing companions.
On just the other side of the island, Ash, Misty, and Brock had washed up on a beach.
Ash groaned as he got up, "How did I get on a beach?" He then spotted an unconscious Misty. "Misty! Misty, wake up!" And he saw Brock not too far away, "Hey, Brock! are you three okay?"
Brock and Misty regained consciousness. Misty looked around, "How did we get here?"
"How did we survive that cyclone?" Brock wondered, glancing back at the sea.
"Hey! We were lucky!" Ash replied but his smile fell when he noticed something. "But, where did Pikachu go? And Laoise?" He then notices something else that caused him great alarm. "I only have two of my Pokémon!"
On another side of the island, Jessie and James are awakened by a Krabby to find their Pokémon, including Meowth, are missing. They try to call for help in a phone booth, but they soon remember they don't have any money.
On a further part of the island, a separated Pikachu finds the Poké Balls of the separated Pokémon and releases Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. They then see a Slowpoke fishing in the sea with its tail. Pikachu and Charmander decide to ask for help, with little result, while Bulbasaur and Squirtle relax on the beach. While trying to find Ash and the others, Ash's Pokémon are found by Team Rocket's Pokémon, Koffing, Ekans, and Meowth. Meowth tells Koffing and Ekans to attack Ash's Pokémon, only to find out they won't battle for him because he is not their "master". They also tell him that they are not bad guys and only take bad orders from their masters, much to Meowth's dismay, leaving him unable to battle Ash's Pokémon. Each side tells the other about their missing Trainers and Koffing and Ekans get visibly upset when Bulbasaur mentions that their Trainers may have abandoned them. Pikachu immediately refutes the very idea, telling Bulbasaur that Ash would never do something like that. The two sets of Pokémon join together to find their Trainers.
It was long past sunset by the time Laoise reached the jungle, without a single sign of her friends, neither Pokémon nor people.
Usually if you're lost the best thing to do is to wait for them to come find you, but she'd gotten too anxious waiting on the beach and decided to look for them herself.
She glanced up as Skyler, her Pidgeotto finally returned from a scouting mission. "Did you find them?"
Skyler shook his head, looking as dismayed as his trainer.
"Good try, you did your best. C'mon take a good rest, return." Laoise solemnly recalled her Pokémon.
Where are those guys? Already her thoughts weren't doing her any favors, she sighed and leaned back on a large rock.
All of a sudden, she felt a tremor. "What the?"
Then, just over the treetops, an enormous creature appeared. It had red and a big horn on its forehead, a grey body glimmering under the moonlight. "Is that a...Pokémon?"
Laoise held up Dixie to identify it but... "No Pokémon found. No data."
"No data?! But it's right there!" Laoise croaked.
The Pokémon roared loudly, and Laoise wasn't waiting around to find out more than she should.
The next day, Team Rocket ran back to the phone booth and Jessie made a phone call. When James tells her that they don't have money, she says they are calling the boss by collect. However, they annoy him with their motto, causing him to hang up on them. Jessie and James then used the wire to get help by pulling on it while inside, hoping it will lead to the phone company. They see a Pikachu and decide to catch it, not realizing until it is too late that it is in fact a giant Pikachu. At the same time, Ash and his friends run behind a rock after being attacked by a giant Charizard.
Meanwhile, the Pokémon, still searching for Ash and Team Rocket (and having agreed to a truce until they find them), come across a giant Blastoise. Squirtle is forced to ask it for directions by the other Pokémon, something that it's not too happy to do. Squirtle tries to start up a conversation with the giant Blastoise but it gets attacked by its Hydro Pump. They then see a giant Venusaur. Squirtle asks Bulbasaur to seek help from it as Squirtle thinks it's one of Bulbasaur's relatives. Bulbasaur is too afraid to ask the Venusaur and so says that it's an orphan and has no family, to which Squirtle decides to call it a "coward." Team Rocket, still pulling the telephone wire, are now being chased by a huge Kabutops. They decide to jump into a rail cart to get away. It starts moving but begins to head backwards toward the Kabutops, rather than away from it. It gets its foot tied in the wire and is dragged after Team Rocket.
Meanwhile, with Ash's group a giant Pikachu, which frightens everyone. Soon, everyone hears a rumble in the distance and something rolling towards them on the ground. Before anyone can find out, the land bridge they're standing on crumbled,
Making the three trainers land inside the rail car and come face to face with Team Rocket, while dragging the giant Pikachu along with them.
Jessie laughed, "Now we got you just where we want you."
James ordered, "Hand over Pikachu!"
But a sudden noise made Jessie and James look behind them to see the giant Pikachu.
James wailed, "But not that big one!"
Misty pointed, "Guys, look! Back there!"
Not far behind them were the giant Charizard and Blastoise.
"Wait! Who's that running from them?" Brock suddenly sat up.
Sprinting from the giant pokèmon was a scared Laoise, pumping her arms up and down. "Almost there! Almost there!"
"That's Laoise!" Both Ash and Misty said in relief.
Laoise saw the gang in the cart and waved at them, "I'm over here!"
Misty yelled back, "Well, get in here!"
Laoise started to catch up. "Don't have to tell me twice!" She jumped on the cart and the others pulled her right in. It was amazing what the sudden rush of adrenaline could do in crazy situations.
There were more giant Pokémon approaching in the distance. At their feet, several regular-sized Pokémon were running as fast as possible.
"There's Pikachu! " Ash screamed.
The giant Pokémon chased the little ones, quickly catching up. "They'll all be trampled if you don't do something!" Misty snapped at Team Rocket.
Ash looked at Jessie and James. "Stop the car right now!"
They grinned sheepishly. "About that," Jessie muttered.
"We can't stop. The brake's broken!" James admitted, holding up a broken lever.
"Uhm, that's a prepare to panic mode...?" Laoise said.
"Look, guys!" Misty yelled, pointing up ahead. Everyone looks and sees the track go into a giant loop
"Brace yourselves!" Brock hollered.
"Prepare for big trouble!" James shouted.
"Make it double, and I can't stand roller coasters!" Jessie screamed.
"What do we do?!" Misty called.
"Hold tight!" Laoise braced herself inside the cart.
The cart went through the loop, and miraculously none of the trainers nor Team Rocket fell out.
Jessie shrieked. "Stop the ride! I want to get off!"
Once the cart cleared the loop, the smaller Pokémon caught up to the cart. They now ran alongside. All at once, the Pokémon took a great big leap, jumping into the group's outstretched arms. Brock caught Ash's, Bulbasaur, Misty caught Ash's Charmander and Laoise caught Ash's Squirtle.
"Boy, are you a sight for sore eyes!" Laoise grinned in relief.
Ash caught his Pikachu, "Are you okay?"
Pikachu nodded, "Pikachu!
"Wow! We made it! Is everybody here?" Ash asked, holding his Pikachu with tears in his eyes.
Jessie said, "Aren't we missing someone?"
James added, "The furriest member of our team."
Meowth then popped up "You mean Meowth?"
Jessie smiled "You're safe!"
As did James. "How did you make it?"
Meowth laughed "I cat-apulted!
Jessie and James had Ekans, Koffing, and Meowth too.
The car rams into the other three giant Pokémon, dragging them along and causing the gang and Team Rocket to panic.
"Ah! They're all after us!" Misty screamed.
The giant Pikachu and its companion had tripped the evolved starter Pokémon. Soon all five of them were being dragged along behind the cart just several yards away.
"Maybe our luck will hold out..." Ash suggested.
"Well, based on our recent run of luck," James then said a little too matter-of-factly, "I would say the cable should snap."
"That should happen about now," Jessie said.
As if to prove their words true, the cable snapped, ending the chase.
"Next, we'll be hurled into the air." James said.
The cart reached a small hill in the tracks, going so fast that it shot into the air. Got to love physics!
"Then, we'll probably crash into something," said Meowth.
That something happened to be the wing of that giant yellow bird. A waterfall of metal fell around our heads.
"It's a machine?" Laoise asked. "That explains why Dixie couldn't identify it."
The giant bird robot dive bombs straight into the others on the ground, creating an explosion
"And then finally," Jessie concluded.
"We'll hit the water!" Jame said.
"Oh, this is gonna hurt!" Laoise wailed.
Meowth finished. "Right after a very, very long drop!"
The cart had finally lost momentum, and plunged into the water.
After the group land, a boat in the shape of a Gyarados passes by the landing sight. Turns out the boat is carrying tourists past the island, which is actually a theme park called Pokémon Land.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Pokémon Land! Here' you'll see various Pokémon over ten times their natural size. Of course, the Pokémon are all mechanical, so don't worry, it's very safe. Now, if you'll look to your left... "
Before the tour guide can finish her sentence, she gasped as she spots the demolished giant Pokémon of the park.
"We apologize, ladies and gentlemen, but our giant Pokémon are temporarily out of order."
None of our heroes knew that the island was actually a mere amusement park owned by Team Rocket's boss, Giovanni, who isn't too happy with the destruction of Pokémon Land.
Finally, our tired heroes resumed their long journey…And arrive at the beautiful town of Porta Vista.
An actual beach city stood before the quartet, right on the water. It had white, sandy beaches towering buildings, and clear blue skies watched over from above.
"Alright!" Ash cheered and he started running toward the town.
Misty and Brock both grinned, "The beach!"
Ash chortled, "Yeah! The beach! I can't wait"
Misty laughed, "Let's go swimming!"
Laoise hurried over too. "But we gotta let people know we're still alive – maybe my folks are freaking out right about now."
"There's bound to be a phone somewhere," Brock reasoned, "You can call when we find one. Your family will find out you're safe in no time."
Which will be sooner than they think.
As our heroes made their way down to Porta Vista, just a few miles down near the streets, a van carrying teenage girls was pulling up into a parking lot. But most notable was a girl with long dark red hair with bangs going across her forehead. It was Taryn, Laoise's second older sister.
She and her friend group, the Fashion Club had successfully drive to Porta Vista by car to enjoy some fun in the sun.
"Hello, paradise," said one of the girls said, walking into their tropical bungalow. The Queen Bee of the group was Sydney Giffard, with long wavy ash-brown hair.
Flighty treasurer Delaney Nguyen had shoulder-length black hair.
Quirky Club Secretary Casey had brown hair is usually styled in two braids with the bangs kept back in hair clips.
The room was airy and comfortable and smelled like an ocean breeze. The sun spilled in through two large glass doors that faced the water. Taryn made a quick call home back in the Bluebell Hollows so they'd know she'd arrived, her folks had been out on a bonding couple's trip and wouldn't be back for a day or two. Shae had gone to a university exposition.
Giggling, the four raced down the steps of their bungalow and ran toward the resort area. Just half an hour in and already the place was bursting with activity. People were shopping in the gift shop and eating in the snack bar nearby. Others were lounging in deck chairs by the pool. Potted palm trees lined the walls, and vases full of tropical flowers scented the room. A table was piled high with refreshments and brochures about diving in the coral reefs and hiking in the wildlife sanctuary.
Casey eagerly picked up one of the brochures and began reading aloud. "We can go windsurfing, snorkeling, hiking, water-skiing..."
"First thing we have to do is find a dive shop," interrupted Taryn.
They noticed a group of boys heading toward the beach with surfing equipment.
"Did I mention they have snorkeling?" asked Casey with a mischievous grin.
Blue skies and white sands, time to hit the surf and soak up some rays. And it looks like Laoise, Ash and friends will be running into Taryn's group pretty soon.
To be continued…
Author's note: Aaand there's another chapter mash up right there! Don't worry, the latter part explained WHY none of Laoise's family heard about the St. Anne incident. The other ocs will find out the gang's alright in a few chapters too. Next up, show of hands everyone via reviews, who wants me to do a mash up of the episodes 'Beauty and the Beach' with 'Tentacoool & Tentacruel'?
