It's hard work trying to become a Pokémon master, and our heroes haven't had much rest and relaxation, but now they're in luck. They've come to a town the same day the carnival has arrived.

Brock admired, "Look at all of those beautiful girls."

Misty looked around, "And check out all of the rides and shows."

Ash grinned. "Alright, let's show these people how to really party!"

"This calls for some music!" Laoise grinned. She hit play on her music player, so that 'Topsy Turvy' began to play.

Ash and Brock changed their clothes to someone would usually see at a carnival in Rio.

"Let's boogie!" Ash laughed.

Brock whooped. "Yahoo!"

However, while Laoise, Ash and Brock get down with it, Pikachu and Misty just stared in awkward silence.

Ash asked, "What's wrong, Misty? Don't you want to party with us?"

"Uh, we'll just party over here. Okay? See you guys later."

Later, Misty met a magician, Melvin, who begged Misty to become his assistant, but because of his poor magic skills, he gets fired. Feeling sorry for him, Brock, Ash and Misty suggest working together to create a Pokémon magic show.

Ash performed a trick involving a magic box, with fire and water magically shooting out at his command, but it was revealed to contain Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. The three Pokémon get into a fight inside the box after Charmander's tail flame burned Squirtle, and subsequently ruins Ash's trick. Ash said that Melvin's Exeggcute doesn't do much, so it uses Hypnosis on him. Laoise, Brock and Misty wondered why Ash is acting so dopey, especially after he follows Melvin's command and spins in circles while acting like a Bulbasaur. After Melvin realizes that he can control Ash, he and Ash sneak away from Laoise, Brock, Misty, and Pikachu.

Melvin then commands Ash to pull him and his Exeggcute by cart into the Leaf Forest. Team Rocket sees Melvin and Ash and starts to follow them. Brock and Misty are out looking for Melvin and Ash when Misty then realizes that Ash has been hypnotized. The Leaf Forest is full of Exeggutor, which Melvin has Ash weaken with Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle; Melvin then catches the entire mob of Pokémon. With his new horde of Exeggutor, Melvin plans to hypnotize people to attend his shows. Team Rocket makes their entry, performing a magic show-themed version of their motto, which Melvin applauds. He soon finds himself tied up, with Team Rocket planning to use his newly captured Pokémon to hypnotize and capture more Pokémon. His Exeggcute evolves into an Exeggutor without warning, and then uses Hypnosis on Team Rocket. The other Exeggutor copy this and end up hypnotizing each other, causing them to go on a rampage towards the town. Team Rocket is hypnotized into believing that they are Exeggutor and begin following the herd. Laoise, Brock and Misty show up and wake up Ash and Melvin, who were trampled by the marching Exeggutor. After waking up, Ash's hypnosis fades and he returns to normal.

The five of them head for town, where they see that the carnival has been almost destroyed, and discover that the Exeggutor mob is turning around and coming back their way.

The carnival owner tells them he's planted a time bomb to destroy the threat. Ash and his friends are of course opposed to this, so they decide to try to stop the Exeggutor before they can reach the bomb. Ash sends out Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander in an attempt to stop the herd. Squirtle and Bulbasaur's attacks don't have much of an effect, so Ash recalls them and orders Charmander to attack instead. The Fire-type Pokémon's attacks successfully stop some of the Exeggutor, but it quickly becomes exhausted as the Exeggutor continue to charge forward. Laoise decided to bring out her new Flareon to give Charmander a hand.

While Misty tried to convince Melvin to use his fire trick to stop the Exeggutor. Although he is positive he will fail, he tried anyway, and the trick endd up working. Together with the Flareon and Charmander's Flamethrower, a blanket of fire stopped the Exeggutor in their tracks. Melvin's newly-evolved Exeggutor returns to him, and Melvin runs up to it and hugs the Coconut Pokémon.

The time bomb then goes off just a distance away, destroying the carnival and, to everyone's relief, no one gets hurt from the blast. Suddenly, Charmander evolved into Charmeleon and shoots a flame at Ash's face, putting his loyalty to Ash in question. Team Rocket gets carried away by the Exeggutor, and Ash and his friends continue on their journey.

As our heroes continued their journey, Team Rocket never let up with their constant interception, but Meowth is feeling ill. After a young girl named Cassandra cures him, she soon meets with Ash's group and explains her difficulty in evolving her wimpy Paras.

After a few harebrained schemes from Team Rocket to boost the Pokémon's confidence, Cassandra, with Ash and company in tow, manage to find Paras up a tree, and because of its visibly different mood, determine that it's raring to go. While Team Rocket is watching from a nearby bush, Ash sends out Pikachu to battle again. Paras goads Pikachu closer and manages to prod him in the tail. As Pikachu prepares to retaliate from the cheap shot, he is reminded by Ash to throw the fight, so instead Pikachu falls over, feigning unconsciousness. Ash then sends out Charmeleon for another chance, but once again Charmeleon starts to disobey. Ash can't understand this as it was always obedient before evolving.

Cassandra's Grandma scoffed. "Ha! Its trainer needs experience. If the trainer is poor, the Pokémon won't respect him and won't obey orders."

"You DID tell her that Charmeleon originally belonged to a scumbag called Damien BEFORE Ash took him in as his own?" Laoise said pointedly, giving Casandra's grandmother a dirty look.

"Don't get sassy, you got problems of your own. Pokèmon with overly anxious owners tend to be more anxious themselves." Cassandra grandmother criticized.

"Well I STILL THINK Charmeleon's just being a spoiled brat like his original owner." Laoise sneered, folding her arms stubbornly.

Cassandra scolded her grandmother then asked that Ash call back Charmeleon, but it breathed fire on him again before turning towards Paras, who found itself cowering in fear again. Team Rocket then came out of hiding and cheer Paras on to win, only to be burned by Charmeleon. Charmeleon advanced towards Paras and is about to finish it off when Paras, in desperation, closed its eyes and throws out its pincer, which strikes Charmeleon in the stomach, causing him to collapse. Paras is surprised that it won.

Thus it evolved. Everyone hailed Parasect's success, including Team Rocket who are overjoyed. Charmeleon, however, recovers and angrily sends Team Rocket flying with a tail slam. He then turns back to Parasect for revenge. Cassandra attempts to protect it, but Parasect stops Charmeleon with its Spore attack, putting him to sleep and allowing Ash to recall him.

As Ash and his friends leave, they are thanked by Cassandra for their help. Ash is also reminded by Cassandra's grandmother that he'll never get control of Charmeleon if he doesn't improve his skill level. Brock even offers to be Cassandra's first customer for her miracle potion.

After the group leaves, Team Rocket drops in, and Meowth is nursed back to health once again. Cassandra is reluctant to let Meowth become the company mascot, not wanting to separate Meowth from the heroic Team Rocket, who she thanks for helping out her Paras. Meowth does not win the spot anyways, thanks to Cassandra's grandmother having just found a Persian in the backyard for the mascot role instead. As Team Rocket sulks off, their potential riches lost, Cassandra promises to treat the Persian like it was Meowth.

Our heroes trudge along sand dunes in a vast desert at night. They all looked weary from the trek, wishing they could fid a place to rest for the night.

Ash groaned, "So where's that town you were talking about, Brock?"

Misty moaned, "Is dark already. You don't think we're gonna camp out in a place like this, do you?"

Brock replied. "Chill out. It's gotta be around here, somewhere."

Laoise walked alongside, trying to stay awake using her noise canceling headphones to listen to 'Arabian nights' from Disney's Aladdin at full volume. "…hop a carpet and fly…" she mumbled sleepily.

Soon, our heroes see the bright lights in front of them: a glamorous city appears before them, covered in neon lights.

Less then five minutes later they've entered the place, looking around at the sights.

Ash grinned, "Look at all the lights!"

Misty said, "Wow! It sure is bright!"

Pikachu chirped. "Pikachu."

Brock confirmed, "I knew it! This is Neon Town! People love to come here because it's open all day and all night!"

"Just like Vegas and New York!" Laoise remarked,

Misty questioned, "It never closes?"

Brock replied, "There's action twenty-four hours a day!"

"Wow!"

Just then a thin, surly man bumped into Ash.

"Hey! Watch where you're going, you jerk!"

Ash glared back, "You watch it! You're the one who bumped into me!"

"Oh, yeah?!"

The two stared each other down intensely.

Brock whispered "Hey, Ash. Just apologize."

Ash retorted. "He should apologize, he's the one who bumped into me!"

"Why, you little... "

Before the man can say anything else, Officer Jenny is seen and heard riding in. "Alright, break it up, you two! There's no fighting here!"

"Ah, that little runt's not worth it." And the man slinked off.

Officer Jenny turned to the trainers, "You kids shouldn't be walking the streets at night!"

"I'm sorry, Officer, but we just got into town." Ash said.

Officer Jenny said, "Then you go find yourselves a hotel or something, people around here are pretty short tempered!"

Ash inquired. "Short tempered?"

"They're on edge because they stay out all night and don't get enough sleep. You kids should find a hotel, get a good night's rest, and mind your own business."

Laoise folded her arms sourly and was about to retort. Then Officer Jenny heard another disturbance in the making.

"There's another one." Officer Jenny sped away.

Misty remarked. "This Jenny seems a little edgy, too."

Meanwhile, Team Rocket have entered Neon Town as well. and James bumps into the man from before, who punches him repeatedly over the head. Meanwhile, Jessie is spanked by a large woman for bumping into her.

The next day, our heroes exit the hotel they stayed in and see that because residents of Neon City sleep as little as possible and use all of their time to play, people are always angry and irritated. Fights were an everyday occurrence, Jenny, the policewoman, is terribly busy.

Soon, our heroes exited Neon Town and entered the forest area yards away.

Misty sighed contently. "It's much nicer here in the woods where it's quiet."

Ash agreed. "Yeah, it was so loud in Neon Town I couldn't get any sleep."

"Yeah nature can be soothing... especially after having been to place as noisy as Neon town." Laoise said.

Up a few feet ahead from the trainers, a pink Pokémon jumps onto a tree stump. Laoise gasped in delight.

Misty stopped to see. "Hey! What's that?"

The little pink Pokémon had a spherical body. It had pointed ears with black insides and large, blue-green eyes. It had small, stubby arms and slightly longer feet. On top of its head was a curled tuft of fur.

Brock noted, "Isn't that a Jigglypuff?"

Misty nodded. "You're right, Brock. It is a Jigglypuff."

Laoise gushed, "It's SO cute!" She went to try and pick it up, only for the others to stop her.

"Laoise! It's a wild pokèmon, remember?" Brock reminded.

"But I wanna hold it in my arms!" Laoise whined.

"And I've always wanted one of those." Misty said determinedly.

Brock questioned. "I thought you only like water Pokémon?"

"I do, but I like this one, too. I'll capture it! Staryu, go!"

However, Psyduck is the one who gets sent out instead.

Misty scolded, "Psyduck, I didn't want you! Return!"

"Psssyy…" Psyduck sadly goes back in its Pokéball as Staryu comes out.

"Staryu, Double Edge!"

"Jiiig…!"

The attack landed and sends the wild Jigglypuff into a tree, causing it to tear up.

"What's wrong?" Misty wondered.

Ash noticed, "It looks like its crying."

"Aww, poor little thing." Laoise this time went right up to pet it. The jigglypuff's fur was short but soft as cotton.

The Jigglypuff calmed down considerably as Laoise continued petting it.

Brock commented, "There's something strange about it."

"I wonder what its problem is."

Ash took out Dexter.

"Jigglypuff, a Balloon Pokémon. It has large, friendly eyes and it sings a pleasant song."

The jigglypuff had hopped back on the stump and looked miffed.

"A Pokémon that sings?" Misty gushed. "Ah, it's so cute! Sing for us."

The wild Jigglypuff just turned away.

Misty pleaded, "Please, sing us a song."

However, the Jigglypuff doesn't sing a single note. The Jigglypuff just shook her head no.

Brock guessed, "I think its saying that it can't sing."

The Jigglypuff nodded to confirm it.

Ash blinked, "I see. A Jigglypuff that can't sing. So that's why it didn't attack."

Misty understood. "Oh, I'm sorry I bothered you, little Jigglypuff."

The Jigglypuff happily jumps into Misty's lap and nuzzled her. Laoise pouted a little out of envy.

Misty then said, "I still think its cute, but who wants a Jigglypuff that can't sing?"

The Jigglypuff was saddened by Misty's remark, and began tearing up.

"Misty!" Laoise rebuked, "And you tell me and Ash to watch what we say!"

Misty was immediately apologizing to the Jiggypuff. "Oh! I'm so sorry! Hey, I know! Why don't we see if we can help this little Jigglypuff to sing?"

Ash agreed. "Good idea, we can't just leave it here alone."

The Jiggypuff perked up at once.

Nearby, Team Rocket decides that they want to use the Jigglypuff to put the people of Neon Town to sleep in order to steal their Pokémon. Soon, Team Rocket appears behind our heroes in different outfits.

Jessie held a microphone. "Greetings, you Pokémon pipsqueaks!"

"Uh oh! Here comes bad news!" Laoise said.

Ash glowered. "Huh? What are those guys doing here?"

James turned up an amplifier to the highest level it can go. "Pump it up to the max."

Music is soon head coming from some speakers on Meowth's shoulders.

"You know it's us Team Rocket and we fight for what is wrong,

we're tired of our motto so we thought we'd try a song! "

"Jessie!"

"James!"

"The speed of light prepare to fight!

Meowth sang the next part, "Meowth, that's right!"

"I am the handsome one!"

"I am the gorgeous one!"

Looking good is a lot of fun, we get some things wrong,

but we keep rolling along!

We want to capture Pikachu, we hope to do it soon,

and when we do we'll be the new, stars of this, cartoon!

The trainers just looked at them embarrassed and baffled while Team Rocket critiqued each other.

"You gotta kidding me." Laoise groused.

Misty glared, "So, what's your crummy plan this time? "

Jessie replied, "We need Jigglypuff to sing one of its little lullabies for us. "

"It's lullaby?"

James spoke into his mic. "Jigglypuff is gonna sing Team Rocket right to the top!"

Jigglypuff is shocked by what it heard and covered her mouth.

Misty said. "Hey, Ash. This looks bad!"

Ash sent out his Bulbasaur to battle, and James sent out his Weezing. Bulbasaur's Vine Whip puts Weezing into a spin, resulting in Weezing's Poison Gas hitting Team Rocket instead. Misty calls her Staryu and orders it to blast Team Rocket away using Water Gun.

Later, Misty and the girls are giving Jigglypuff a singing lesson, starting with Misty trying to teach it a scale.

Misty explained, "Like that. See how I control my breathing as I sing the notes?"

"You're are great voice teachers, Misty." Ash said.

Misty looked at the Jigglypuff. "Okay, now it's your turn."

"Try singing a note." Laoise encouraged.

Jigglypuff tried, but she turned away. "Puff…"

Ash said, "It doesn't look like it really wants to sing."

Soon, Pikachu tried to encourage Jigglypuff by singing himself.

Ash laughed "Very good, Pikachu."

"Pika!" Pikachu blushed.

However, Jigglypuff got upset. Misty chided. "Hey, Ash! You're hurting Jigglypuff's feelings."

Jigglypuff then sneaks up behind Pikachu and kicked him and then rushes back behind Misty before anyone can notice.

Next, Misty blows up a balloon to demonstrate breathing control. "Now you try it. Fill up the balloon like this."

Brock said, "It'll help make your lungs bigger and stronger. "

However, Jigglypuff turned away.

Ash said, "I told you, it doesn't want to."

"Take it." Misty put the balloon in Jigglypuff's mouth. "Here you go."

However, the balloon deflated and the air from it goes into Jigglypuff's body, and then Jigglypuff goes flying when the air gets loose.

Ash griped, "Forget it, this isn't working."

Laoise said, "Well, we gotta try something. Maybe it's hungry or its throat hurts."

Brock then got an idea, "I think I know just the thing to help. Follow me."

Soon, Brock lead the group into a spot in the forest filled with fruit trees. Brock also helps it by giving it a fruit that can help make its throat feel better.

Misty was carrying the Jiggylpuff, "Give it a try, Jigglypuff."

"Jiggly!" The Jigglypuff smiled.

Ash said, "Wow! This just might be the answer!"

Brock held the fruit out to the Jigglypuff who took a small bite. Jigglypuff tried again, this time, it sang perfectly, confirmed it had got its singing voice back.

Misty cheered. "Hooray!"

"Aww, that was pretty." Laoise clapped.

Pikachu starts celebrating, but Jigglypuff kicked him again, and before the Mouse Pokémon can notice, Jigglypuff is already in Misty's arms.

Misty requested Jigglypuff to sing; it obliges and starts singing beautifully.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket, hiding amongst some grass, sets up a tape reel recorder and a connected boom microphone to capture Jigglypuff's voice. As Jigglypuff sings, everyone fell asleep. When Jigglypuff noticed everyone sleeping, it inflates itself in anger, went through Ash's backpack, pulled out a black marker, and proceeded to scribble on the faces of the snoozing spectators, it scribbled on Ash and Misty, then Brock, then Pikachu, and finally Laoise.

Jigglypuff giggled to herself, then it hears them snoring and unsuccessfully tries to use her Double Slap attack, so Jigglypuff scribbled on Team Rocket as well.

Soon, the snoozing heroes wake up unaware yet of the scribbles Jigglypuff left on their faces. Ash had patches, Misty was given circles around her eyes, Pikachu given a silly face with eyes, Brock a mustache and Laoise's making her look like a panda.

Misty yawned, "That was a nice nap."

"What happened to your face?!" Brock suddenly pointed.

Ash and Misty looked at each other and yelped hen quickly wiped off the marks.

"What happened?" Laoise yawned then did a double take when she saw Brock and Pikachu. "Whaa? Who scribbled on your faces?"

"You got scribbles on yours too!" Ash pointed out calmly.

Laoise went to her hiking backpack and pulled out some wipes to clean her face.

Misty then noticed Jigglypuff looking offended. "What's wrong, Jigglypuff?"

"What's it mad at?" Ash wondered.

Misty realizes that they must have fallen asleep during the performance and apologizes to Jigglypuff.

Brock then thought, "I got it! Maybe there are some other Pokémon that wouldn't fall asleep!"

Soon, Jigglypuff sings for some of the Pokémon, including Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Onix, Pidgeotto, Leafy the oddish, Laoise's new Ponyta and Tricky.

When the trainers came back…

Ash was in shock. "They ALL fell asleep!"

Laoise walked up to her Oddish, her ponyta and her Gengar. "Yep, they're conked out for the next few minutes."

Brock said, "Jigglypuff's song is strong!"

Misty snapped her fingers. "I know! We should let it sing to Psyduck! Psyduck's too doofy to know whether its awake or asleep anyway!"

"Great!"

Soon, Jigglypuff sang to Psyduck. It looked like it worked.

"Hey! Psyduck stayed awake and heard you sing!" Ash said as he awoke.

Misty kneeled down to Psyduck's level. "Good old Psyduck, you finally did something right. "

However Jigglypuff was upset again. "Puff!"

"What are you angry about now, Jigglypuff? Psyduck listened to the whole thing." Mist wondered.

Jigglypuff huffed and turned away. Misty soon learns the reason just by touching Psyduck with her finger and knocking it over, indicating that it fell asleep too.

"You stupid Pokémon! You're just sleeping with your eyes open!" she shouted.

"Psyyyy..."

Nearby, Team Rocket wakes up to see Jigglypuff's handiwork, horrifying them. They rub it off and proceed to check the recording. Unfortunately, the recorder did not capture Jigglypuff's singing and recorded their loud snoring instead.

Brock suggests they take Jigglypuff to perform for the sleepless people of Neon Town, which Team Rocket is delighted to hear. When they get into town, Ash and his friends look for a place for Jigglypuff to sing, to no avail. A stage truck then pulls over, driven by Jessie and James, disguised as rock stars, who offer them their stage. Once the stage is set, Jigglypuff starts singing into a microphone and begins to pull a crowd.

Jigglypuff begins her performance. But as usual, everyone in town began to feel drowsy.

Team Rocket's plan completely backfired because their earplugs were as efficient as they thought, thus they fall asleep.

"I don't think my ears are plugged enough." Jessie groaned and she fell asleep back to back with James.

As the song ended, Jigglypuff became upset when she sees everyone asleep. So in a fit of determination she proceeded to scribble on everyone's, and I do mean everyone's, faces.

By sunrise everyone awakened.

Ash stood up and yawned, "What a great nap that was."

Laoise stretched and yawned. "I had a lovely nap and without the racket waking me. Oh, is it morning already?"

"Uh oh. Everybody in town fell asleep." Ash noticed.

Brock glanced around. "It sure seemed so."

Ash wondered, "Still, I wonder where Jigglypuff went to."

"I bet it's pretty mad." said Misty.

Then something else happened, everyone in town started apologizing for their rude behavior, confusing the trainers.

Brock said, "Jigglypuff's song not only puts people to sleep, but maybe it has the power to make people nicer, too."

Soon, the guy Ash bumped into showed up. "Hey, it's you. I just wanted to apologize for bumping into you last night."

Ash blinked "Uh, you're that guy."

"Yeah, I'm sorry." The man apologized.

Ash said, "That's okay. Thanks for the apology. "

"So then where Jigglypuff?" Laoise asked.

"Did it get mad and run off somewhere?" Ash wondered.

Misty began calling for the round pokèmon, "Jigglypuff!"

Meanwhile, Team Rocket happily walks out of Neon Town, despite knowing that they failed.

Jessie said with a bright smile, "We failed again! The earplugs didn't even work!"

"But the skies are blue and the air is so fresh!" James said brightly.

Meowth was also grinning from ear to ear, "Isn't life great?"

Team Rocket laughed as they leave town much to everyone's bemusement.

Later, our heroes took their leave as well.

Ash grinned, "This is great! Everyone in town's so happy now!"

"Yeah, everyone needs a good rest now and then to recharge." said Brock.

Misty inquired. "But where could Jigglypuff have run off to? I wanted to capture it."

"Yeah, you're not the only one who wanted a Jigglypuff." Laoise said.

Ash surmised, "Maybe it started its own quest to find someone who can hear its song all the way through."

Misty admitted, "I hope we meet Jigglypuff again."

"Well I know the Jigglypuff are scattered throughout regions lush green plains and grassy meadows." Laoise explained. "And I know the Jigglypuff has a previous form most known in Johto… maybe we'll find one. I'd sure like a Jigglypuff for my team too."

After hearing Jigglypuff's song and resting up, our heroes continue their journey, refreshed in mind, body, and spirit.

The Jigglypuff soon appeared with marker in hand "Puff. Jigglypuff!" She began walking forward. "Jigglypuff, Jigglypuff. Jiggly, jiggly, jiggly, jiggly!"

And with a giggle, she happily followed our heroes down the road.
